MackyNaija: Ahh, MackyNaija, Please sir don’t go like that Confession time: Since I stumbled on this thread, you have served as my anonymous career mentor. I’m currently utilizing this ASUU strike to learn Data Analytics skills mainly because you recommended that it will aide my career as an INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER ( Ps. I’m in my final year studying Mechatronics Engineering, almost similar to Mechanical Engineering you studied in your undergraduate, ). I have also researched some schools that offer MEng in Canada ( my preferred country ) like Concordia university in Montreal and Ryerson university in Toronto ( MEng in these schools is for 2 years and equates to 3 years post graduate work permit in Canada ). If Canada doesn’t work out then it’s definitely going to be Texa A&M University ( ) . I have lots of uncles and even a white woman I call mom in this state reason it’s easily my first choice to school in and also my dad’s most preferred japa location lol. Sir what I’m saying is that I was basically able to gain directions about my engineering career and draw a feasible roadmap mainly because I came across you, your story and the guidance you rendered. Yes I know life can move crazily and easily scatter my roadmap but I want to know that at least I got the best advice possible and tried my best to achieve the goals. I believe with God, guidance and a good plan backed with actions, everything is possible. Sir, MackyNaija I would really love to still keep in touch with you via LinkedIn or Email and hopefully tell you my success story when I finally make it as an I.E ( ). I hope this meets you well, have an awesome week ahead Sir. 4 Likes |

FIFApresident1: Festac is not a newly developed part of Lagos just that it is really calm and we don't hear much about the area. You can also connect to island via mile 2 - orile - national theatre route ( added advantage if you own a car ). Op if you bank is large enough, you can check the residential area of Amuwo Odofin ( Ago bridge - Apple junction, festac link road, Durba estate axis ). Their estates are really cool. Nb- police wahala is kinda on the high side in festac and Amuwo. |

MackyNaija: Good day Sir, MackyNaija . Hope you are doing good. Please I have some questions again When I went through your thread the other time, I remember you saying that you went into Data Analysis ( R ). As someone that also have a big interest in IE (all thanks to you ), I'm considering learning a skill that's related to Mechatronics Engineering ( B.Eng ) and also useful in IE. 1. Based on your knowledge and experience as an engineer, which skill between C.A.D ( Solidwork, AutoCAD etc ) and Data Analysis is more relevant to a person looking to do masters in IE. 2. If Data Analysis, what software are majorly used as related to IE. |

Finally!!!!. Just got done reading from page 1 up until now. After reading the first 2 pages I jumped to the last page to see how it's going only to see that you were planning to move your wife, daughter and mother in law to Texas ( I thought you were moving them from Nigeria ). I wanted to know how you were able to achieve all these within 4 years, so I went back to page 1 and read everything up until now. I'm really amazed for real. I have also made up my mind to go for I.E in my masters but in either Australia or Canada ( they seem to have a more straightforward immigration pathway ) MackyNaija, please I have some questions. I notice you said you had to give up trading stocks and your beloved crypto. (1) Just wondering why you gave up trading? 2. While studying were you still able to trade? 3. If yes to question 2, how were you able to combine trading and studies. 4. Do you know people in Engineering career path that also trade part time and how are they coping with both. 5. How possible is it for an international student to sustain his/herself with profit gotten via trading the financial markets. I'm really anticipating your reply Sir. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Career / Re: I Am A Nigerian Cybersecurity expert In The US, Ask Me Anything by Floda: 10:36am On Aug 28, 2021 |
Hello House. Nice thread here. Please I have some questions to ask but here is a little back story. My younger brother who is currently taking SSCE has interest in Cyber Security ( All thanks to his CISCO teacher ). He intends going for it in his Undergraduate studies and plans to apply to FUTO. I really like the amount of interest he has and I have source for some beginner level online course on Cybersecurity for him to take ( that's after his SSCE ). The problem now is that I dont want him to study this course in a Nigerian University as we all know what ASUU have done and will still do. So, my questions are, 1. Is it too early for me to give him Courses on Cybersecurity or should i wait till he starts his undergraduate journey? 2. How possible is it for him to get an undergraduate scholarship to study Cybersecurity in the US? 3. How can we go about getting a scholarship. ( I know that he would have to get a good score in his GRE or so ). 4. Finally, any other tips on how to help him develop his interest and knowledge would be appreciated. Looking forward to getting a reply from our gurus. |

ednut1: You actually made me laugh. This is Nairaland, you dont know me neither do you know who I know. Well, I guess having friends over there equals having factual experience. At least it's good to know that you didnt say I was wrong like you did the last time. I would advise that you ask your friends their reasons for wanting to leave Aussie because I feel like it just personal preference. Aussie threads on here are not active mainly because not many Nigerians move there ( which is perfect if you ask me ). Canada is also an awesome place and might have an easier migration process but then there are still people that the process frustrate. Same way there are also people that had a smooth Australia PR process. Las las it's you and your Chi 2 Likes |

ednut1: You using RURAL AREA makes it seem like it's some sort of village or desert. They call it REGIONAL AREA mainly because of the population in those areas. Note that any other city in Australia aside Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane is considered a REGIONAL AREA. Even the capital of Australia ( Canberra ) is also considered a REGIONAL AREA. Even looking at it in the long run, regional areas are good for immigrants because of the lower cost of living when compared to the 3 major cities in Australia. Or should we talk about international students getting 3 years work visa after studying in a regional area for 2 years or more. The downside to these regional area is that they have a lower population hence getting a professional job might be harder. As regarding people occupation been removed from the demand list. Australia has a occupational demand list, this list have two categories - Short Term Skilled Occupational Demand list ( STSOL ) and Medium- and Long-Term Strategic Skill List ( MLTSSL ). One ought to be very strategic especially when you have PR in mind when travelling to Aussie. Occupations under Health, Engineering or IT can't easily be removed from their demand list because most countries need these people. I still house the opinion that Aussie is more straightforward especially when your are strategic. 2 Likes |

jahrule: Please, who told you so. Australia and Canada are almost the same ( PR wise ). I personally find it easier and straight forward. The major difference is that Australia is further away from Nigeria and also they also have a high cost of living. |
