Rocktation: True, but vegan diets for babies come with their own significant risks. Infact, more babies become diarrhoel after only fruits and veggies than they do after only good carbs. There is really no class of food that cannot be overdone no matter how wonderful the combos might seem. The kinds of purees I see here sometimes sef, create frightful images. Adding milk to mashed potatoes and tomato paste...just nasty stuff.
The fallacy that pap has nothing to offer as people often peddle, also confuses me. Corn itself, although not a first stop for vitamins, does contain a small amount of the vitamin, while millet, with its low glycemic index has vitamins, proteins, photonutrients... and can definitely not be bad nutritional trade offs especially since it's for a very short stretch of the babies' lives these would be given and many mothers will breastfeed alongside anyway. I believe that the tomatoe paste you mentioned was for mentioning sake, like seriously who adds a paste to a puree without first cooking or even going for a fresh tomatoes instead. Adding milk to mashed potato(Irish or sweet) is healthy, to you is messy because milk was added. Corn is a cereal and also note that they're deficient in some amino acid(lysine) that's why sometimes they're combined with legume(beans etc) cos legume also has methionine deficiency, that's why some people combine corn/beans, pap/soybean, rice/beans etc. Corn already has less protein although is rich in vit c. Millet has vit B but then are they all not fibre?? Millet's calcium content is not even much. Ogi is good but that does not mean is the best. Hell to the no. In all these self, oat still remains the best biko. Like I said and I'll still say it again, there's nothing wrong with baby cereals cos they are still cereals in a processed form with milk added to it. Pureed food is good too but you should be able to gulp down a spoon of what you want to give a child. Everything should be in moderation. Pap/cereal/puree etc are all good. |

Rocktation: Infact, i even want to recommend the good old guineacorn/millet/soyabean pap. I'm not sure why or how all our computer age mums concluded (if they did) that it's not nutritious and now prefer all these canned big grammar food and crazy purées of uncountable fruits and what not. I'm even surprised that ALL babies do not purge after these crazy mixtures. I would, as an adult. Fruits are more nutritious than pap no matter what is combined into it. Some children are allergic to soybeans (my children for example). And is not only fruits that are pureed. Vegetables even food(beans/yam/potatoes etc) are either mashed or pureed. Pap/tombrown are good but you must add something to make it nutritious, funny enough my children prefer custard I make smoothie and I don't purge and I can't mash/puree something that would be unhealthy to my child. Those cereals are actually blended rice, oat, maize/corn etc. |

cutiereborn: Yes, buy measurements cups, you will be glad you did. I didn't say buy the whole bucket of topper o They sell it in kg, 1kg is btwn 800 -1k depending on your area and you can keep in a cool dry place to use as often as the need arises. The 1kg I bought since oct, I am still using it, even for jollof and fried rice too I was scared tho, thought twas the bucket Thanks, I'll try it |

cutiereborn: Ok, let me search for the recipe page. Meanwhile, butter cookies are soft crumbly, have butter as a major ingredient but chocolate chip cookies are harder I think.... Will modify this page when I find the recipe for the butter cookie Modified: Ingredients 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened 2/3 cup (140g) granulated sugar 1/4 tsp salt 2 large egg yolks 1 tsp vanilla extract* 2 cups (283g) all-purpose flour (scoop and level to measure) 2 tsp milk Instructions Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment cream together butter, sugar and salt until combined.
Mix in egg yolks and vanilla.
Add flour and mix until crumbly then add in milk (if needed add in another 1 - 2 tsp milk for a more pipe-able consistency, add as little as possible for less spreading though).
Transfer to a 16-inch piping bag fitted with a large open star tip
Pipe dough into rounds onto two ungreased baking sheets (if you normally have issues with cookies spreading chill them for 30 minutes on baking sheet before baking).
Bake one sheet at a time in preheated oven until golden brown on bottom, about 12 - 16 minutes.
Let cool on baking sheet 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container. Educator, I want to ask a question. I'm not good with cup measurement ooo The butter izzit 1or2 satchel The flour nkọ how many kg Ehen! for sugar, izz that dangote granulated sugar ok |

Lillianade E-hugs mama. When it comes to the issue of MIL, I would advise you to press your ignore button. I'm typing from experience, discuss whatever issue that is bothering you with your hubby. If Mil start again, go emotional on her "mama how can you say I'm selfish, would you be happy if my child go hungry all because of ebf. Don't you consider me your daughter that you're using the word selfish etc(any other thing she had said before) on me. Would you say the same to your daughter. Is not fair, I took you as my mum etc" Be dramatic and be polite too.
Funny enough they won't tell their own daughter that, my Mil even told her daughter to be giving her child bm and water before she'll us sucking and drain her. Mil said the opposite to me when my daughter was small. Hubby and I quarreled over it but i still insisted, he even hid the milk. This was the same hubby that agreed to milk cos my daughter refused breast milk at 3m(the story long abeg) Mil just woke up one day, packed her load and said she's not staying again.
Abeg just ignore, is well |

GreaterGraceGG: Mamas please come to my aid. My baby is having blood spot in her eye, how it got there, I can't say. Is it something serious? Will it clear on its own? Thanks cc all mamas Did she hit her face anywhere or was she hit? Rubbed her eyes too much or maybe have a cold? I believe is not an emergency something but then I'm not a doc neither do I know if she's experiencing any pain. If you are worried, you can take her to the hospital and doc might prescribe an antibiotics or an eye drop or maybe tell you to go home that it'll clear. |

Bluefin: Hi Team March,
I’m confused o. I believe XX is Girl and XY is boy right?
Correct me if I’m wrong but please see screen shot below. They're still saying the same thing. Homogamete means having the same sex chromosome(the X and X chromosome) which can be seen in female while Heterogamete possess two types of sex chromosome (X and Y-chromosome) which are found in male. Homo: of the same kind. Hetero: means different. Gamete: are sex cells, organisms reproductive cellFemale/Girl/etc that have a feminine quality is XX While the other with masculine quality is XY HTH |

juola: I was told at antenatal to start cleaning henceforth with soap and then rub vaseline after cleaning. The essence of rubbing vaseline is to enable easy cleaning the next time you want to clean( next morning or evening as the case maybe). And to always pull the nipple out so it doesn't go flat when its time to breast feed. Am 8weeks and some days. You can start cleaning from 36wks |
