What has synergy got to do with delayed hospital presentations and people's poor health-seeking behaviour in Nigeria?

I don't know of any country where people are reminded to go to the hospitals early in the course of their illness or for regular health checks.
People develop that naturally as a result of the values they place on their lives.
In the middle east where I work, people come to the hospitals immediately at the first sign of any abnormality in their health, and visit regularly for routine checks, even when they're not sick.

In Nigeria, nothing, including life, is valued, and such health-seeking behaviour is completely absent.

I know poverty and the absence of a functional health insurance are contributing, but at the individual level, we need serious re-orientation and improvements.
We mustn't always blame others(individuals, institutions, organisations, governments, etc) for our problems.
Synergy means combined action.

See I once saw where in a American pharmacy, an old man walked in and before he got attendee to by the Pharmacist, his health records were assessed for proper evaluation of his medical records. Such things can be very vital to prevent allergies or understand the best approach for treating the patient or administering drugs to him.

Synergy between the physicians and pharmacists means that the latter can be able to assess the patient health records prior to administering him or her the prescribed drugs. You should be in the know that pharmacists require medical records of a patient in order to be most informed before cancelling a prescription, re-writting or even sending the patient back to the Doctor.

I had been riding nonstop for the past 3 days so I decided to take a drink at the local inn.

The pretty waitress was just setting down my glass of vodka when.....

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhh Ohhhhhhhhh shocked shocked shocked

The glass windows rattled at the otherworldly sound.

We all looked at each other. It sounded like the howl of a wolf. But one, 10 times as big with amplified voice box. undecided

All was silent for 5 seconds maybe, but it seemed an eternity. We waited with bated breath.

Next thing we heard was "Nyet, nyet, parushcka" and the sound of running feet outside.

We heard what sounded like a predator in pursuit.

We heard a blood curdling roar quickly followed by the most horrible screams you could ever imagine undecided undecided undecided

Oshey!!! Symbiotic relationship! grin

I never met an undergraduate (or anyone for that matter) who thought the relationship were in wasn't beneficial. It is AFTER THEY'VE LEFT the relationship that they get different (not necessarily correct) perspective.

NB: Please this is not to say you are not in a beneficial relationship. No way I can know that, or even you now. Not until we see how it turns out. Please keep us posted. I'm rooting for you mate wink
I don't think you reserve the right to tell me if I am in right frame of mind or position to assume the usefulness or the absence of it in my relationship. You can go on to stand firm on it but it's all in your head and I won't let it drain into mine.

More so, I am over 20; an adult who knows his rights and what are beneficial to him. In my wisdom and experience, I certainly know what is useful to me and when to pull the plug if the benefits expire.

Furthermore, your assertion that post-graduation outcome decides whether a relationship was worthwhile or beneficial while it lasted, at best can be said to be wrong.

In a scenario whereby family disagreements is the root of a break-up which was headed for marriage, does that severe all the academic benefits you enjoyed while at school? Does it take away the emotional stability you enjoyed while it lasted? The fidelity your partner helped you build and strengthen as a virtue became worthless? The crucial words of advice?

These things to me are irreplaceable and whatever tragic that happens after graduation, won't make the relationship worthless or non-beneficial while it lasted.

Hello,

Don't be misguided, some "Nigerian undergraduate relationships" are very much beneficial to both parties academically, emotionally, financially, and in the path where they acquire relationship maturity and wisdom.

Certainly, not ALL Nigerian undergraduate relationships are shallow. At least, mine is not and that alone faults your assertion.

So I ran into an old school mate of mine sometime last week, she was my roomie, very reserved and bookish.

While I and my friends / other roomies were very social and went to the occasional club parties, she was always indoors with her books and well, I guess it paid off cuz she graduated with a 2.1 while we struggled with 2.2.

Back to when I saw her, after exchanging pleasantries we reminisced about school days and I was shocked to hear her say she envied my days in school, like she wished she lived a more social life, I was so surprised I on the other hand wished I was serious and concentrated more on my studies, maybe just maybe I would have graduated with a better grade.

We both laughed at the irony of it all and this made me wonder ; do we all wish we did things differently in the university when we look back?
Yes I do have regrets from my days in the university.

However, it was a shameful regret and not one i would share on a public forum. Everyday I hit my head repeatedly on a mirror and wonder what went wrong with me on the day I took that decision.

LegendHero:
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, 30 prominent Nigerian activists, academics, and other professionals, have formed a new political movement called National Consultative Front.

The group’s objectives include mobilizing Nigerians for a popular mass action towards political constitutional reforms that are citizen-driven and process-led in engendering a new peoples’ constitution.

This was contained in a communique after a month-long nationwide consultations and virtual meetings. It was made public by the new group’s National Secretariat, in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Listed as members of the 30-member strong steering committee for the NCF include: Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’abba; former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia; Olisa Agbakoba, SAN; Femi Falana SAN; Col. Abubakar Umar (retd.), Dr Oby Ezekwesili; Prof Jibo Ibrahim; Yabagi Sanni; Amb, Nkoyo Toyo, Isa Aremu, Prof Chidi Odinkalu, and Senator Shehu Sani.
Any party that is in for constitutional amendment organized by civilians and not senile retired army officers, is the party I'll vote for in 2023.

I build my tent in this party.

PoliticsRe: This Is Why Abia State Government Must Demolish Ariaria Now! by flyingpig: 11:19am On Jul 01, 2020
proeast:
Igbos are known to be capitalists and has often been classified as being among the world's 5 most advanced ethnicities alongside the Chinese, Indians, Jews and Germans. Just like these other aforementioned groups, Igbos now control or influence commerce in many areas of Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. Their cities of Aba and Onitsha have traditionally been regarded as home to some of the largest markets in Africa. However, the problem now is that these markets have largely remained the way they were decades ago.

Today, anyone who visits Ariaria will be disgusted at the filth, bad roads, flooding etc. that will assault them. Traders often lose lots of money each time the market gets flooded, and it happens quite often especially during the rainy season.

The world has evolved and commerce has become a huge money spinner, especially when it is combined with tourism. Dubai is a model example of this. However, the IGR of Aba has remained appallingly low, not necessarily because the people don't pay tax but but because of cartels that rip-off such monies due to irregularities in tax collection.

Abia state government should as a matter of urgency, go into partnership with developers to build the world's largest mall that will replace the sordid Ariaria market. This is a hugely bankable project and investors would be falling over themselves to be involved.

Recently, Shell built a dedicated gas pipeline to Ariaria and this would help to make the building of these malls significantly cheaper to maintain and thus make its rent affordable for most traders.

The benefits of having such very large malls in Aba will be enormous and it will change the fortunes of the state. Such benefits include:

1. Huge foriegn direct investments will flood into the state, especially from China, India, Japan, S.A, E.U and America. They will come in the form of companies opening assembly plants that will take advantage of such modernized large markets. This is what Dubai has done, and we have the capacity to replicate it here. Even if we are able to get 10% of the sort of investments that has gone to Dubai, Abia will automatically become a very rich state.

2. Increased patronage; Ariaria used to attract buyers from all over Nigeria and as far as Cameroun, Ghana, Senegal, Niger etc. Many of such people have stopped coming due to the disorganized nature of the market. However, not only will all these people return, Ariaria will now be able to attract buyers from all over Africa.

3. Increased government revenue; imagine when Aba has 10 very large malls that will contain an average of 20,000 shops each or 20 large malls of 10,000 shops each. The government will be able to ensure that 100% of the traders are captured in its tax drive and no cartel will defraud it since government knows the exact number of tax payers and can easily monitor compliance.

4. Increase in employment generation; lots of our graduates see trading as a vocation that is demeaning. This is due to the filthy environment where trading takes place. The market roads are muddy and flooded, gutters crisscross people's shops, leaky roofs etc. However, once these large malls are used to replace such dirty markets, many graduates will gladly go into trading and they will bring modern innovations too.

5. Aesthetics; Aba has gained a notoreity as a filty place and this is directly due to the proliferation of all these dingy markets that are found all over the city. Aba is a naturally well planned gridiron city. Once these unsightly markets are replaced with modern malls, the aesthetics of the city will be greatly enhanced and more people will desire to live in the city.

I can go on to list several other benefits but lack of space won't allow me. We Igbos don't know the gold we have in our hands by being in control of commerce in Nigeria because it has far greater potentials than crude oil and agriculture. Dubai has no oil but it is richer than the other Emirates in UAE that has oil as well as other oil rich countries.

Okezie Ikpeazu should muster the courage and political will to forever change the dynamics of Aba and he will always be remembered. Rochas was able to demolish the two biggest markets in Owerri and relocate the traders, and heaven did not fall. So, Ikpeazu too can demolish Ariaria as well as other dirty markets in Aba and replace them with massive malls.

Lalasticala please do Aba a favour by moving this piece to the front page so it can be brought to Okezie Ikpeazu's attention.
The so called Nnamdi Kanu can resign his futile effort of leading a secession group which with its current approach IS BOUND TO FAIL, and instead, swear oaths to Nigerian constitution, and contest for Governor of Abia state under APGA.

He is a god and Abia state is his mat where he stands on. If he contests, there is no iota of doubt he will win with land slide. Charity begins at home and that Biafran utopia he wants us to believe in, should be first made a revelation in Abia by him.

I use 2 gyms called Mcfit and American fitness. I’ll talk about them individually.

Mcfit is the about the cheapest you can get and also the most famous gym in Germany. They have branches everywhere and you can use your membership card in other European countries where there is a Mcfit. Their gyms don’t have saunas or special amenities and monthly membership is €20. If you want special classes, you will pay more.

This gym is also so messy and be ready to smell dirty armpits and body odor in summer. I will never understand why people don’t shower. The Turkish and Arab guys are the worst. If they’re training around you, be ready to smell nonsense.
If you are good at socializing, you can make a lot of friends in this gym with other members. Some guys are popular at their gyms because they go there every day and know everybody.

This gym is also where you see a lot of weird things like guys masturbating in the shower and occasionally, at midnight, some gay guys having sex in the shower. Yes, I’ve seen a few. The Mcfit gym in Mitte (the center) is the weirdest. Sometimes you find used condom in the shower. Just mind your business and do your own thing. It’s a crazy Berlin culture to see stupid things and get used to them.

I usually don’t shower there. I also noticed that most black guys don’t shower at the gym. They prefer to go home and shower. My personal reason is because some guys get excited to see black guys naked. It makes me uncomfortable when a guy is checking me out.
Lol

Seems there are lots of gays in Berlin.

Not bad. Freedom to express your sexuality is a right, while straight people should mind their business, unless they are molested. smiley
