Actually it does. If you look at the map it's clear to see that the SW is blessed with 3 access-points to the Atlantic -- Lagos, Ogun and Ondo. Ogun has plenty of access-points to the sea either through lekki lagoon, lagos lagoon, the bight of benin or several smaller creeks

Well, IMO, Osogbo ain't half as bad as I'd imagined. Of course there's always room for improvement. I'm actually from Ilesha SW . Haven't been back there in a long time but intend to visit the state in a few weeks time.

Before everyone gets on here. I've been reading about the Jalumi War and I'm here to celebrate Ibadan warriors (the saviours of Yorubaland) and Osun, the historical state, where the Yorubas defeated the Fulanis twice. Inisha (1878) and Osogbo (1840).

Err...I'm wondering why all the defeats the Fulanis suffered against Yorubas were inflicted on them by the Ibadans. Apparently, they sacked Oyo twice and actually got to Abeokuta the second time Oyo was sacked. I know Oyo had a brutal cavalry - but what made Ibadan warriors so successful in battles? I definitely need to study more about Ibadan warriors - the saviours of the Yorubas. Proud of Ibadan.

Also, the tactics they used in Osogbo's definitely one of best war tactics I've ever read. And the drowning of the retreating Fulanis at the Otin River, by the Offa folks was crazy - supreme Yoruba warriors. Yorubas have always been great in battles.

Without a doubt, Agbaje would have gladly and effectively ceded Lagos to the Igbos. He admitted himself that his preferred choice as deputy was a flattie but the Yoruba Lagos PDP vehemently opposed it and told him straightup to perish the thought. Thank goodness he didn't succeed.

Yorubas fought back and decimated the fulani army. They never recovered from it. They were pursued from Ikirun down to gate of Ilorin.

History had it that, the Oluyole warriors did not enter into Ilorin because they believe most people in ilorin as at then have been islamised and it will be a futile effort fighting for them.

Ilorin people should make more effort to draw themselves into the mainstream yoruba agenda. Of course other yoruba speaking areas of Kawara eg Offa, Moro,etc are non-negotiable.

I totally agree with you that liberating ilorin would have proved futile for the Ibadan led legion at the time coz the ilorins themselves didn't exhibit any enthusiasm for their own liberation. They possibly would have fought on the side of the Fulas against the Yoruba army. But all that is now history.
