chebyshev: Congrats to Bnimz ,Vinsmuft, Baenoz, Bolaobby for the ITAs.
I don't understand this please. What will happen after the completion of this around? When will the 2017/2018 financial year begins ?
I submitted my CDR last week Thursday. All thanks to catchdwind4rmkd who helped me proof read my career episodes. The figures I gave are only specific to Engineering Technologist occupation. Are you assessing as an ET? If not, you do not need to bother yourself. |

Bnimz: ...... Okay, you'll be cutting it close,, but should still be able to make it into the last few rounds of this programme year I doubt the possibility, it's just 3 invitation rounds and 94 slots left for the 2016/17 financial year. |

Rett0: Good morning house. We submitted our CDR (fast track) to EA since 29th Nov and as at this moment, its still showing 'queued for assessment' not even 'In progress'. We are really running out of patience. What could be the reason for this delay?? There's nothing to worry about! I'm sure it's already assigned to an assessor. The status will not change to "In progress" (from experience) until your assessment result is out. You will however be contacted (and the status will change) should you need to provide additional information... So, just relax! |

If the sponsoring states require that you have a band 7, then, you MUST rewrite the English examination. You also need to be sure if they're asking for 7 overall or 7 in each module. Nathb123: Pls I intend traveling to Australia next year. I have a bachelor in engineering but I intend going for advanced diploma in leadership and management course. Can any one help me with any useful information about the visa application. If your aim is to remain in australia after the course, why not go through the first page on this thread and see if you can garner the minimum 60 points required for PR. I believe this will save you a lot of stress and cost in the long run. Engineers don't have much problems getting positive assessment from Engineers Australia (i.e if you meet the requirements, are able to write a convincing CDR, and have the right documents to support your claims). ModifiedWhat is your area of engineering? It even gets better if your occupation is on the SOL. Caveat: I'm also a leaner here (lol).... hope the seniors on the thread will correct my blunders (if any). |

bellong: What advice do you seek again? If I were in your shoes, I would rewrite the CDR. You can contact one of the engineers on this platform to help you vet/proofread it to achieve desired outcome. Engineering technologist will require more points to get invitation as lots of people are moving into it. Thanks for being there always! iceberg54: You should try to rewrite your episodes... There are many people here that can help with that... I think Engineering Technologists now need 65 points to be invited. Thanks bro! To all telecom engineers in the house who have gotten +ve assessment from EA, please I need all the assistance I can get in order to scale this hurdle. I'll require someone to proofread my carrier episodes and possibly guide me towards writing an acceptable CDR. God bless you all. |

Got the following message from my assessor early this morning and still wondering what my next line of action should be -
"The ANZSCO definition of the tasks performed by a Telecommunication Network engineer is 'plans, designs and monitors complex telecommunications network and associated broadcasting equipment'. None of your Carrier episodes describe any of these tasks. Therefore, you are required to rewrite Career Episodes 2 and 3 to describe tasks that follow the ANZSCO definition of Professional Telecommunications Network Engineer. Alternatively, you may leave your Carrier Episodes unchanged for an assessment outcome of Engineering Technologist (ANZSCO 233914)".
The message is very clear though, I doubt I will be able to write another Carrier Episode. What do you guys advice?

bellong: With all the information on this thread about engineers, you still ask this question? Why can't you choose Telecom engineer than the field? @ bellong, thanks for your time. I thought my job responsibilities have to match the nominated occupation in order to be able to claim points for skilled employment (work experience) or am I missing out something? |

adesunloye11: Help a brother my nominated skills require AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).. Can i apply with my bsc degree I'm in a similar situation and will appreciate the opinion of experts on this thread...... Although I posses a M.Eng in elect/elect, my current job function matches the 'Telecommunication Field Engineer' which is a ANZSCO Skill Level 2 occupation and requires AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma. Engineers Australia assesses the occupation as Engineering Associate. Any implications? |

Chebe01: Hi - Trust me, your CGPA for your masters is good. Considering your 9 years experience, what area/topic do you intend to conduct your PhD research? Do you have any output that can be considered to be scholarly? Do you have a PhD concept or proposal? IMO, you should go for a PhD if you have an idea of what you want to do. From what I know, PhDs in Canada have characteristics of PhDs in Europe and America (you'll need a research topic/concept and you'll do some coursework). So you need to source out profs that you'd want to work with and engage with them firstly before you apply. Most times, if you don't do this, you'll be wait listed until they find someone who is willing to supervise your proposed work which means you'll become a "second pick".........so start constructing a concise intro email with attachments and send it to university professors that have the same research focus. You'll most probably get full funding (4 years) when/if you're admitted. This is what I did during my PhD application and I got many positive responses from university professors. I made a pick based on application deadline and faculty expertise. As you may have read, two masters can be a struggle when it comes to convincing VOs. Yes, I have identified some challenges in my line of duty on the basis of which researches could be conducted. All I'll have to do is take some time off to develop something attractive. I'v also sent e-mails to some professors, but yet to get any reply. Thank you very much for your contributions! |

Hello great pple in the house,
Permit me to use this space to thank you all for the great work you all are doing in here. I've been an ardent follower of this thread even before registering on nairaland, and I must confess that I've gain so much from the forum.
I've got a whole lot of knotty issues I'd like you guys to help with.
Background: I'm seeking a PhD (Electrical & Computer Engineering) admission into a Canadian university (preferably Alberta or Manitoba). I have the following grades in my previous studies - B.Eng CGPA - 4.09/5.0 and M.Eng GPA - 3.9/5.0 (57.3% average). I also have nine (9) years working experience in the telecommunication industry.
1. Would I be eligible for a PhD admission (with/without funding) with the above credentials?
2. If not (considering my unimpressive M.Eng grades), and I choose to apply for MSc (thesis based), would it be an added advantage applying with my M.Eng, or I should just apply with the B.Eng?
3. Wouldn't applying with a M.Eng (for another master program) place on me, a burden to convince the VO (when applying for study permit) on the need for an additional masters degree?
All contributions are welcome! Especially for my experienced bosses in the house (wouldn't want to mention names b'cos you guys are all great!)
Thanks. |

Gastuso: As a faculty member, that grade cannot even give you an admission into a PhD programme in Nigeria. PhD grade is from 60% upward. But bro all hope is not lost. Most Canadian University place emphasis more on undergraduate degree. If you have a strong undergraduate result, you can apply for M.Eng/PhD programme. Or better still you can do a postgraduate diploma. This is my view, others may have superior advice than this. Best of luck Thanks for your prompt response. My first degree CGPA is 4.09. |

Hello Forumites,
Please, is it possible to secure a PhD (Engineering) admission in Canada with a M.Eng Average score of 57.3% (GPA 3.9)? |
