TO THE ISSUE, I booked a ticket with wakanow on feb 8, 2024 (my first time ever and a mistake). I paid 911 USD for a round trip from NYC to Lagos. Wakanow issued the ticket but at the time I only wanted to seize the opportunity for the low fare, my travel itinerary was not certain yet, the supposed flight was for April end till may end. By march 1st, it was obvious, I cannot travel by April ending, so I reached out to wakanow to cancel the ticket. Mind you, the ticket I booked was a fully REFUNDABLE TICKET with Royal Air Maroc according to wakanow website before I paid. Wakanow said they will only refund about 800k naira and I will forfeit the rest, mind you I paid in dollars but they want to refund less than half of the money in naira. I agreed that they should go ahead and cancel the ticket and refund me, that was around March 1. Since then I have been messaging wakanow via WhatsApp and mail, they are always telling me they are working on it on WhatsApp while they have stopped replying my mails. Meanwhile, I reached out to Royal air maroc which confirmed I should get in touch with wakanow as my funds are no longer with them. It is almost 3 months I cancelled now and I cant get my money back, I cant book another flight since my funds are now tied down. Why is it so difficult to refund me for almost 3 months when their website says refunds are processed in 2 - 3 weeks?

IRCC will ask you for proof of funds, so get ready. It's required as part of the supporting documents.

Although, it's stated on IRCC website that if you work in Canada, you don't need to show proof of funds as part of your PR application.

Given the seeming contradiction above, it's better you just show the required proof of funds. You're better safe, than being sorry.

Why the confusion? Isn't a visit visa different from a work visa?

A SOWP is a work visa that entitles you to a work permit when you arrive at the POE.

A visit visa merely allows you to enter Canada, but can't work.

Passport Requests are few and far between these days, but it's to the glory of God that I am coming back to say I got a surprise PPR for Spousal Work Permit today. I'm a spouse of a college student who is already schooling in canada, I applied in November 2023.

It's a surprise to me because I wasn't expecting a PPR. I already had a travel visa, and had visited once, so, all I was praying for was a Port of entry Letter of Introduction, not PPR since i already have a visa. Continue to gently ask him to include your name in your joint property, while going forward you buy property in your own name and carrying him along.

Don't buy any property in your name without keeping him in confidence, so he knows you don't have hidden agenda. If he asks why you're doing this, let him know you're doing this for your children and your own future.

Since she has PNP, losing sibling points will have little effect. That's great. An LOE is the solution. Add your birth certificate, an old photo, etc. But make sure to state that you're including the sibling in your application to not misrepresent but you are not requesting points for it. State that you're presently not in good communication and are not aware of their residential status.

This particular PNP nomination was obtained mainly based on the masters program the applicant just completed.

Sir, you forgot that PNPs are selected from the Express Entry profile and also take CRS points into consideration when selecting candidates. For example, if a particular PNP wants to select 50 candidates in a specific field with scores above 350, a person scoring 360 will be selected before someone scoring 355. That's why the 15 points you claim for family as PR/CITIZEN earlier while creating the Express Entry profile could become controversial if you actually have no family proof. Or maybe I'm missing something and need more clarification on this?

The applicant clicked "no" to the question at the time of creating the EE profile and scored zero for it. There was no such question during the PNP application and the PNP was obtained mainly from the masters program the applicant completed.

Now that the applicant has got an ITA, she just wants to know the steps to take in order not to offend IRCC. The sibling isn't forthcoming.

While filling out the Express Entry profile, if you click "yes" to the question "Do you have at least one brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident?" and you don't know the person's status in Canada, then you should not claim those 15 points. Not everybody in Canada, even after staying for over five years, is a permanent resident or citizen. Some people may remain as asylum seekers for up to five years, moving from one appeal court to another. If you cannot provide evidence for those 15 points with proof that ur sister is a PR/citizen , it could affect the whole application.

If you don't mind doing care job for a year, you would be qualified for BC PNP. That would add 600 to your EE scores.

You could be asked questions regarding how much cash you have on you, what you have in your bags, where you intend to stay in Canada, details of your student spouse (if a sowp holder).

There is no requirement to show an health insurance at POE. You have a work permit, no need of an health insurance.

If Nigeria would stop importation of petroleum products today, Naira would take a 60% appreciation against the Dollar. Pressure on Dollar would reduce significantly. In the medium term, establishment of modular refineries by the private sector should be encouraged. But would the government allow this? No. Because the guys importing the products are the same guys in power. A lot of the guys in power have refineries set up, even in West African countries.

If Nigeria would stop importation of generators today, and ensure we have uninterrupted electricity supply, 3 things would happen. Dependence on fuel as a source of power supply would end, hence Nigeria would use less fuel. Pressure on Dollar to import generators into Nigeria would reduce. 3rdly, industrialization would be revived in Nigeria and more Nigerians would have jobs to do. Currently, we have given out our jobs to Chinese, through massive importation.

Would the government embark on the above suggested steps, NEVER!

The request letter from IRCC is a positive sign for your application. These days, they're quick to give a refusal.

Since they asked you to show proof of payment of complete school fees, rush to pay the complete fees as directed. Anything short of that, IRCC may vex.

I have not paid the full school fees only full first semester and the second semester payment is due on the 1st of April.

Is the lump sum in your personal account? If yes, I can think of 2 options:

1. Make him a joint account holder and then submit immediately; or
2. Submit the account as is; since it belongs to a spouse. You and your spouse are seen as one and same under the law. It's called "unity of spouse".

If the account belongs to a 3rd party, the holder can transfer it to your spouse as a gift and then donate a gift deed. This should be detailed in your SOP.

We submitted application for spousal open work permit on December 2022 and a visiting visa for our 2years old son and till now we are yet to get a response from IRCC.
Updated proof of account was requested on May 2023 and it was submitted.
Medicals was requested on June 2023, son's medicals was updated to pass June 30, 2023
Spouse medical was updated to pass July 08, 2023 and since then we are yet to get any response from IRCC.
GCMS notes has been requested multiple times now and the notes says recommend interview for son , and eligibility passed for spouse.
We have sent numerous webforms but no response
sent mails and no response still.
We have also contacted the MP on November and he said IRCC said they will expedite the application.
but as at of present no response.
Please what next can we do .
