You can still apply in January with the current passport. After submitting the application, immediately apply for a new passport. Whenever you receive the new passport, notify IRCC of the new passport through webform.

They will process your SOWP, using the details of the new passport. This was what my wife did when applying for her study visa and everything went fine.

Reasons included she thought she could cope without her family but current reality proved otherwise, loneliness in Canada, family would help her academics, family would provide moral support etc

If I may ask in your sop what was the reason you stated for change of mind and how long did it for ircc to process your application?

This scenario happened to me as spouse of an international student, but I am typing from Canada. The solution is to allow your student-spouse enter Canada first, then after about 3 months apply for sowp. The student should write a sop stating why the change in plan and change of mind. Humans are allowed to change their plans over time, and this would not amount to a misrep.

You can apply for a sowp from inside Canada if you're on a visit visa. That's called "flag poling". You can research more on this.

Yes, one can get PR with Sowp. One of the ways to achieve this is to work within a NOC that guarantees provincial nomination.

Children in Canada are always admitted to schools within their neighbourhood.

My wife travelled with 3 kids on 25th August, 2022. The rule is that a fully vaccinated parent can travel with unvaccinated kids who are less than 12 years old. This is her case. So, all the kids were allowed to travel with her without stress. Also, fill your arriveCan at least 72 hours before your arrival in Canada. One form is ok so long you include accompanying kids. All the food she carried were packaged and sealed, so no issues. She didn't carry meats, vegetables and milk though. I remember she had the LOI and study permits for everyone handy, alongside the documents relating to her school. That's basically it

A child is not required to fill a VFS Consent Form, given that he/she did not undergo biometrics in the first place.

Just send his international passport, along with a statement of address, datapage of international passport and proof of payment of biometric fee.

Yes, you will pay a separate transmission fee for each child. But the documents for all family members can be sent as a single package.

In the single package, do make the work easy for IRCC by putting each member's documents in a smaller envelope for clarity.

My suggestion is that people should ensure to purchase travel tickets directly from the airlines. Why buy from a go-between when you can buy directly?

The Internet and use of online platforms has made everything easier today.

There are cases where some fraudulent travel agents (I am not saying all of them) purportedly purchased air tickets on behalf of passengers, but failed to remit money to the airlines on their internal payment platforms. Whenever there were issues, the airlines disowned such travel agents.

Since IRCC asked for additional documents, chances are high your application will be approved.

Just ensure you provide as many documents as possible. Wedding pictures, pictures with families, pictures with in-laws, pre-wedding pictures, joint accounts, joint property, rent receipts showing both names, any documents showing both names, etc

We applied for his sowp with all documents needed but they requested for additional documents "proof of relationship". Anyways, this is the summary of progress so far, please tell me what you think about it cos I am loosing my patience:

I suggest you send a webform and an email to IRCC informing them that you had undergone a medical examination already. Attach your e-medical sheet to the webform and the email.

You could also go to the hospital that conducted the examination to confirm that your results have indeed been sent to IRCC.

You may quit your current employment, provided you comply with the terms of disengagement. Look at your contract closely and note the steps you must take before you exit. Sometimes, it could either be that you give a notice period of between 2 weeks to 1 month or you make payment instead of giving notice.
