Botragelad: You're basically admitting Russia is a paper tiger that talks big but folds easily. Fact is, Putin loves propping up his puppet dictators with cash, weapons, and mercenaries, but when the heat's on, he ghosts them.
"what was Russia meant to do" when Maduro's soldiers didn't fire a shot? That's hilarious, like blaming the victim for not using the crappy tools you gave them. Putin could've done a lot, he has in the past. Remember 2019? Russia flew in two planes full of military "advisors" and equipment to Caracas to scare off any U.S. intervention after Maduro stole another election. They even deployed Wagner mercenaries (those same thugs who later mutinied against Putin himself). If those soldiers "refused to resist," it's because Russian "support" is trash, outdated gear, corrupt training, and zero commitment.
Why didn't Putin ship in modern S-400 anti-air systems like he brags about selling to his other cronies? Somalia's chaos in the '90s was guerrilla warfare against overextended U.S. forces in a deserthole, rebels had the home turf advantage and no-rules desperation. Venezuela's a different thing, a broke regime strangled by sanctions, with soldiers who haven't been paid in months thanks to Maduro's Putin.
Those rebels "did better" because they weren't relying on a sugar daddy like Russia, who promises the world but delivers nothing. Are you aware that Russia loaned Maduro billion of dollars since 2006, mostly for weapons that apparently vanished into corruption black holes. If the soldiers couldn't fire a shot, ask why Putin's military aid didn't include functioning ammo or loyal troops.
Maduro's a puppet/clown, sure, but he's Putin's clown, installed and sustained by Russian propaganda, and vetoes at the UN to block any real international pressure. With the blockade you mentioned (mostly U.S.-led sanctions that Russia whines about but can't counter), why didn't Putin airlift in elite Spetsnaz units or bomb the opposition like he did in Syria?
Assad's regime was on the brink in 2015, soldiers deserting left and right, just like you said. But what happened? Putin swooped in with airstrikes, cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea, and ground support. Russian jets pounded rebels in Aleppo, Homs, and Idlib. Assad's soldiers "abandoned positions" until Russia forced them back with Wagners and Iranian militias coordinated by Moscow. Why didn't he do the same for Maduro?
Your whole argument boils down to "Russia couldn't help because the puppet messed up" but that's admitting Putin's strategy is trash. He picks weaklings like Maduro and Assad precisely to control them, pumps them with just enough aid to stay afloat, then bails. Lol. It's the same playbook from Afghanistan in the '80s (Soviets got humiliated and pulled out), to Libya in 2011 (Gaddafi begged for Russian help, got nada), to now Ukraine, where Putin's "special operation" has turned into a meat grinder exposing his weakness .
If Russia's so mighty, why didn't Putin scramble jets to intercept those helicopters? Or was he too scared of poking the U.S. bear? 😂 In your haste to attack him, you further proved his statement. Just as you're asking why Putin attacked rebels in Syria but didn't send soldiers to directly confront USA, he could ask you why they saved Kuwait but are yet to fire a single shot for Ukraine. No amount of weaponry can triumph over the forces of corruption. This is why it is in many ways easier to sponsor militias. They fight for their ideology and not because they're paid to do so. If there's any foreign power to point at for this opprobrium, it is China. |

People briefed on the operation said elements of the Venezuelan military cooperated in the arrest.

23jerryking: Actually modern 3D radars and low-altitude surveillance radars are designed to pick them up. So helicopters can actually be detected. Why that wasn't the case here remains to be seen. Even a lone soldier could take one of them out if the right circumstances are in place. The military heads simply chose not to fight eother due to fear or treachery. We've seen this in Syria and Afghanistan. |

Even Shekau wouldn't have been this easy. There's also a video of VZ defense minister calling for war but I'm not sure if it is authentic. Regarding Putin and Zelensky, it's obvious that the Eastern powers are still abiding by old and abandoned norms. USA of today wouldn't hesitate to use a nuclear warhead on any country if their hegemonic interests demand it but what about them? Anyway, I let's see what will unfold before I start venting |

usmanpogo: Finally, someone sees it The UAE supports terrorist elements even on the African continent. We have new players who have chosen the African continent as the next theater to settle geopolitical disputes. The Arabs and the Turks are here and not a lot of people see how this will end. Well, Israel has always wielded influence around the horn of Africa. Turkey's 400 hectares military base in Mogadishu was definitely gonna have consequences, I think we all saw that recently, surprised the Israelis waited this long.
At this point one can't help but wonder what the AU is doing to prevent and secure the continent from these foreign influences.
So far, all of West Africa is fair game to terror groups backed by these new players. The AU is the most useless organization in the world. Just pretend they don't exist. |

Sanctions imposed on Iran by who exactly? The same powerless US according to you? Doesn't US sanctions always meant no "shit"? 23jerryking: Iranians are not bad people, it is their government. How much reminder do you need in order to get this fact? I share your view that the Iranian government is not necessarily made of good people, but the people demonizing them are far far worse. I don't know what level of desensitization is making you parrot these silly talking points. I'm very sure if someone were to tell you that hed give Nigeria a much better government but you must first agree to lose your legs, your entire family, your house, your job, and be plunged into a decade of unrest you'd curse that person. Madeleine Albright famously said the sanctions that killed over 500,000 Iraqi children 'was worth it.' The economic hardship Iranians are facing is a direct consequence of the unjust sanctions that USA has placed on them. Be honest. Would you do that to someone you care about? Go and say that to 8 year-olds please |

Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert, whose district the pipeline project is in, slammed Trump, suggesting it was retaliation for her signing the discharge petition to release the Epstein files, saying:
“Nothing says ‘America First’ like denying clean drinking water to 50,000 people in Southeast Colorado, many of whom enthusiastically voted for him in all three elections…I sincerely hope this veto has nothing to do with political retaliation for calling out corruption and demanding accountability. LordAdam16: the last war was a learning experience for everyone iran could have increased their kill count at any time like they did on the last day when that entire israeli family was killed in their shelter not all shelters are below ground. many are just hardened rooms in above-ground buildings that will be reduced to rubble by your standard ballistic missile and since most male israelis are idf conscripts, they can use the israeli script against them one of the casualties in that family that was wiped out was an idf reserve soldier if the idf/mossad can kill scientists and whichever family members and strangers are in the immediate vicinity, then iran can repay the favor against weekend warriors and their families
that said, the 12d war was primarily about iran exhausting its target bank so you had a few showings for public consumption like when that entire street was turned to gaza but they mostly focused on strategic assets, both public and secret like the refinery, MoD building, weizmann, nevatim base and you best believe there were unreported casualties
the bunker-busting ballistic missile is specifically designed to give them freedom of action to take out any high value target anywhere in that cursed country regardless of where they hole up it isn't being designed to kill as many civvies in underground shelters even though there could be one or two oopsies
ultimately, while the mullahs chant death to israel the persians will grudgingly accept a palestine state and a pacifist israel that understands that any misbehavior will lead to harsh consequences but the extremists currently in charge of israel do not want to grant palestine a state and certainly do not want to be told by foe or friend that they cannot kill with impunity and that they must abandon greater israel plans that's the crux of this israel-iran conflict
-Lord Thanks for the clarification. That aside, Iran seems to be finally taking espionage seriously. One of them was unfortunately caught filming a former PM's home. |

dermmy: Israel is a small country and has many shelters all over the country to shield its people from missile attacks coupled with that, when a missile is launched from anywhere in the Middle East and it's destined for Israel American satellites pick them up immediately and inform the Israelis even before that missile enters Israeli airspace giving Israelis enough time to run to shelters, bunkers for safety. Yes sir. That is what the bunker busters will fix. Once Iran makes them, Gallant and other war criminals will have little hiding places left. |
