Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday revealed that the Lagos State police officers filmed assaulting a man who allegedly refused to release his phone to them, had been identified.

He made this known while giving an update on the viral video, stating that the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, would come up with actions to be taken.

Responding to an inquiry on the matter, Adejobi tweeted, "Ben has fished them out, and I have asked what to do, so he should come up with his actions taken."

Adejobi had on Thursday called for an investigation into the viral video, after a tweep claimed that the assault was due to his refusal to hand over his phone to the policemen.

A Twitter user had on Wednesday shared a video of officers assaulting a man, tagging the accounts of the Nigeria Police Force and the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.

The video was captioned, “No drugs nothing, no evidence. Why asking for phone for no reason? I don’t know why #PoliceNG #BenHundeyin."

Reacting to the video the force spokesperson said, “Ben, fish out these policemen for investigation. We need to look into this. And the victim should send an sms to me, personally as I need some info from him or them. I am interested in this disgusting scene/drama. Thanks.”

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has said he will continue to play football for as long as his body allows him.

Musa revealed this in a video shared on Instagram on Friday, while responding to questions about when he would quit the national team.

He said, “We know our country. No matter what, whoever they call you, they have to talk. I don’t have to listen to anyone.

“I’m the one doing my job, but if my body wants me to stop, I’ll stop. I’m playing with my club and have a good contract, so why does anyone want me to resign from the national team?

“This is what I’m playing and know how to play. I give my best always when I’m called to the national team from day one and if the coach doesn’t call me anymore, then that’s fine.”

Chelsea and England forward Raheem Sterling is on his way to the UK after armed intruders broke into his London home on Saturday.

The 27-year-old winger didn’t take part in England’s 3-0 victory over Senegal on Sunday night, with sources close to the player describing him as being “shaken”.

The armed intruders broke into Sterling’s house in Surrey with his family, including his children, present.

England manager Gareth Southgate says Sterling is leaving the team in Qatar because he needs time with his family after the shocking incident.

“For the moment the priority is clearly for him to be with his family,” Southgate said.

“We’re obviously mindful of him being allowed space and his privacy respected, so we don’t want to talk in too much detail.

“We are going to support that and make sure he has as much time as he needs.”

Southgate confirms that he doesn’t know if Sterling will rejoin the squad in Qatar after dealing with the issue.

“At the moment it’s a situation where he needs time with his family and I don’t want to put him under any pressure with that.

“Sometimes football isn’t the most important thing and family should come first.”

The England coach added that Sterling’s departure didn’t impact his team selection.

“I spent a lot of time with Raheem this morning, so you have days where events happen and you have to deal with them.

“It’s not ideal for the group ahead of a big game, but it pales into insignificance because the individual is more important than the group in those moments, so we needed to look after the situation and then I had to pass that on to others this afternoon in order to get him home.”

England will take on France in the quarter-finals of the ongoing FIFA World Cup on December 10, and Raheem Sterling hopes to return only if the circumstances are right.

Cristiano Ronaldo will not receive any payoff from Manchester United following his contract termination with the club.

Both United and Ronaldo only wanted a clean slate to respect the 37-year-old’s history at the club, reports Fabrizio Romano.

United terminated Ronaldo’s contract by mutual consent after it was reported days ago that they were exploring the possibility.

The striker will leave the Old Trafford club with immediate effect following his interview with Piers Morgan.

A club statement read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

Ronaldo said in the Piers Morgan interview that he is blamed for all that has gone wrong at the club, with the Old Trafford outfit forcing him out.

He said: “Yes, they [United] are trying to force me out. Not only the coach [Ten Hag], but two or three other guys around the club.

“I feel that some people didn’t want me at Manchester United, not only this year but last season too.

“The fans should know the truth. I want the best for the club. This is why I come to Manchester United.
