I swear to God 96% of Kenya counties are slums , take Central Province for example, it got Nyandarua,Nyeri, Kirinyaga,Murang'a and Kiambu, the nice place in this province is "some part" of Kiambu and Nyeri counties , the rest are nothing but slums.
At Coast Province level , the only nice place is some "Very tiny " part of Mombasa CBD and some part of tourist areas of Lamu ,places like Taita-Taveta, Kwale,Kilifi(expect the tiny Italian areas) ,Tana River are nothing but shit .
Northeast Kenya,Nyanza,Rift Valley and Western Province are totally slums.

It was a old war camp that developed into a city in the 19th century during the various Yoruba civil wars. The cluster of houses together were for security purposes.
