Jonraid: Wouldn't mind knowing the actual number of Kenyans there. The point was very very little to no Kenyans would be studying in Nigeria. It's a fact that Nigerians studying in Kenya are more in number than Kenyans studying in Nigeria. Here is a story of how an American University referred a Nigerian to study in Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta University because they had the capacity to do so,the Nigerian finally didn't have to go to US for her studies!
https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2000207165/nigerians-top-list-of-foreign-graduates-at-jomo-kenyatta-university
Quoting the article:
CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
''Catherine Uloko, the vice director at Kaduna Polytechnic, was one of them. Her doctorate, like that of many of her fellow countrymen who graduated, is in entrepreneurship. Dr Uloko said she came to study in Kenya after being referred by the University of Illinois when a partnership was formed to build the capacity of institutional leadership, especially on entrepreneurship. “The polytechnic management in conjunction with the Federal Government decided to introduce entrepreneurship and decided to go to Illinois but we were told that JKUAT could offer what we were looking for without us necessarily going to the US,” she said. She added that one of their reasons for coming to Kenya was the testimony by University of Illinois that JKUAT is a centre of excellence.''

tylann: Probably every country in the world has mineral resources What matters is the quantity If kenya starts producing oil it will produce 80k barrels a day Nigeria produces 2.5 million barrels a day With nothing to show of it only poverty take Algeria as your case study they have the oil and gas same as your but nigeria is doing extremely bad But you people lied you don't have one drop of mineral resources. Why? Besides, KENYA has resources worth billions of dollars. Who stopped you from developing them? It is not Nigeria's fault you can't develop them. don't be lazy. |

You know what amuses me about it? ..Sometimes ago,RVP in his attempt to pull down the Dangote refinery project said oil will soon become useless because developed countries are soon switching to electric cars...
Now in 2019 Kenya is about to join the league of oil producing nations... isn't it funny? You dey mind dat hypocrite. |

The gap is only 8 billion dollars going by the current IMF stats. As for Algeria, their numbers are good.We long agreed that they are a top top country. We just have issues with Nigeria which is a resource based economy like this two with nothing to show!

Jonraid: Nigerians have a fetish for GDP! There's a new angle of thought in economics known as 'GDP FETISHISM'
Nigerians wankk of their GDP.Joseph Stiglitz, the Columbia University economist (a Nobel Prize laureate who once taught at the University of Nairobi), calls it GDP fetishism (probably for a lack of better word). Be wary of GDP fetishists.
Whilst many Nigerians will come to Kenya for a myriad of reasons, very very little to no Kenyan would head to Nigeria simply because that GDP isn't anywhere to be seen on the ground or the place isn't the 'real deal'.The country has the largest population of poor people, that big GDP is silent on this. The average Egyptian is richer than the average Nigerian, that's a fact.Ghana is more livable that Nigeria, this is another fact!
They will throw their ' BIG GDP' when the arguments turn murkier on their side! As Ally-Khan Satchu an economist based in Nairobi said,''We don't eat GDP'
Be wary of the GDP fetishists!
https://www.econlib.org/library/Columns/y2010/HendersonGDP.html Chinese are many in Kenya. Does that mean Kenya is richer than China? Ooops |
