BascoVanVeli:I don't think Osimhen is close to Orji because he has played more games and scored more goals Osimhen in past two seasons. He is a first team player though he somethings comes from the bench. Over 200 minutes of game time in each seasons can't be compared with Osimhen 45 minutes last two season and around 200 minutes of game time last season. Orji is far ahead. |
edi287:Hahahahahaha! He had better behave himself. By now, I expect him to call those foreign born players. Most especially, Midhat Bajric, Keanan Bennetts and Deji Beyreuther who have all openly indicated to play for Nigeria U20 and SE. While at that, he should also consider players that won the last U17. I think only Kingsley Michael and Samuel Chukweze are eligible to play for Nigeria U20 because they were born in 1999. I hope Shawn Adewoye and Adam Idah are considered. |
TheGoodJoe:His first touch and movement showed he is very talented looking at his age. Watch very well and you will see what I am seeing. |
Official: Nigerian Striker Pens New Long-Term Deal With Liverpool Published: July 17, 2018 Liverpool have confirmed on their official website that Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi has penned a new long-term deal with the club. The Reds offered the striker fresh terms on the back of his impressive performances last season for Royal Excel Mouscron, for whom he scored ten goals in 31 matches across all tournaments. Speaking on the new deal, Awoniyi said to the club's official website : ''I feel excited and I feel very happy. ''It has been three years since I first came to Liverpool. So far, so good. The last year was the best for me, it has been an amazing year so far. ''I just have to keep working hard each year and I believe one day the dream will come true. ''Thanks to my family, who have been so supportive. I’m very glad and excited about this contract and hopefully to have an even better year.'' The 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winner has spent the last three seasons on loan at FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen and Royal Excel Mouscron. Loogan:Only Orji has adapted quickly to high standard European league. The rest are still coming up. Though Osimhen is in the Bundusliga but he's still struggling for game time. Hopefully, these lads break through this season. I really like Kingsley Michael and Chukwueze. |
ChrisKels:Hahahahahaha! |
ChrisKels:Hmmmmm! I see. The bobo don grow ooo. You can see he is a special kid the moment you see him on the ball. I wondered why he always came from the bench during the U20 World Cup. |
komekn:You are right about that. Let us hope Bennetts and Mandela Egbo get to play for their new club in the Bundusliga, Borussia-Monchengladbach, before the U20 begins but we should let them know we need them. I know Bobby Adekanye very well. From his days at PSV to Barcelona back to Eredivise because Barcelona broke UEFA rules and sanctioned for that, before he finally went to Liverpool. He begged Manu Garba and Emmanuel Amuneke tire to play for Nigeria U17 team but he was snubbed on those two occasions before he agreed to play for Netherlands. Anyway, he is still eligible to play for only Nigeria SE but he has to get a decent club if he can't make Liverpool’s first team. |
Uzoho is on the list. ![]() World Cup 2018: France & Nigeria stars in U23 Player of the Tournament Kylian Mbappe took home the Young Player award, but which other youngsters shone in Russia? Chris Weir by Chris Weir Jul 17, 2018J 492views REUTERS/Dylan Martinez The age of the undiscovered footballer is dead. An influx of money and technology has put paid to that, but there remains something thrilling about a young player starring at the World Cup. Everybody loves an audacious talent, who uses the biggest platform of them to overthrow the established order. 2018 has been no exception. Kylian Mbappe stole most of the headlines, as the 19-year-old bagged a goal in the World Cup final and impressed with his pure pace, but there are plenty of other young players who have improved their reputation over the course of the competition. Here are five of the U23 stars to impress in Russia. 5 Aleksandr Golovin [Russia] Linked with Juventus and Chelsea before the tournament, Aleksandr Golovin quickly lived up to the hype. The 21-year-old bossed Russia's midfield, notching two assists in four games. Golovin combined nimble passing with maturity and presence in Stanislav Cherchesov's surprise package and was the most vital competent of a team that very nearly reached the last four. His performances in the first two group games were exceptional, and he helped guide Russia past Spain in one of the shock results of the tournament. 4 Francis Uzoho [Nigeria] Whilst Jordan Pickford, Thibaut Courtois and Danijel Subasic were the most impressive goalkeepers, none are under the age of 23, thus they must give way to Nigeria's Francis Uzoho. Only making his La Liga debut in 2017, the 19-year-old impressed between the sticks for the Super Eagles, despite their group stage exit, in what were seventh, eighth and ninth caps. He tipped Lionel Messi's free kick onto the post against Argentina in the final group game, whilst making early saves against Iceland to become the second-youngest 'keeper to keep a World Cup clean sheet. 3 Ismaila Sarr [Senegal] A good World Cup can do wonders for your career. By that logic, Ismaila Sarr should turn up at one of Europe's biggest clubs before long. The Senegalese winger was the star of Aliou Cisse's talented team, a constant threat on the right-hand side as the Africans came within a whisker of a deserved qualification from the group stage. Links with Liverpool should be no surprise; the Rennes man could be an even better purchase than his compatriot Sadio Mane. 2 Lucas Torreira [Uruguay] The 22-year-old showed just why Arsenal made a move for him this summer, with a series of rambunctious displays for Uruguay. The headline moment of his World Cup is unarguable; with Cristiano Ronaldo launching a counter-attack in the round of 16, all of his five-foot-six frame was thrown into a shoulder verge that sent the Portuguese flying. Combining precise aggression with astute positioning and technique, Torreira proved in Russia that he could be a leader in London and Montevideo for the next decade. 1 Kylian Mbappe [France] The second youngest player at the World Cup has lit it up like no other. Mbappe's astounding performance against Argentina in the last-16 was impressive enough, but his role in the 1-0 defeat of Belgium was joyous to behold. As he tore repeatedly past Jan Vertonghen on the left, one has the sense of a beginning. Mbappe was a menace in every side he faced because of his electrifying pace and superb end product. He became the youngest player since Pele to score in a World Cup final and it looks like the torch of football's future megastars has been passed to the young striker. POLL: Which of these young players impressed you the most? Aleksandr Golovin Kylian Mbappe Lucas Torreira Francis Uzoho Ismaila Sarr Other Want to share your opinion? Rohr should intensify efforts to get Luka Nmecha. He is a very good player. Plays like a Brazilian the first time I saw him. 17-Year-Old Defender Among Four Nigerians Named In Man City Squad For USA Tour Published: July 17, 2018 17-Year-Old Defender Among Four Nigerians Named In Man City Squad For USA Tour Manchester City have revealed their full squad for the tour of United States later this month, including four Nigerian youngsters in their list, the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Lukas Nmecha and Tom Dele-Bashiru as well the club's U-18 sensation, Nathanael Ogbeta. A picture published on the Citizen's Twitter handle revealed that the aforementioned quartet are among the 28 players listed for their pre-season activities in the States, having been observed at close quarters by the club's manager, Josep Guardiola during training at the City Football Academy ahead of the new season. While Adarabioyo, Nmecha and Dele-Bashiru have all made their first team debuts for the Etihad Stadium outfit, Ogbeta, a defender by trade, has yet to earn a place with the senior side but this could be a pointer that he is well in the plans of Guardiola for the upcoming campaign. The 17-year old made ten appearances for the U18s in the UPL last term, scoring the winner for the Young Citizens in a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough. Adarabioyo made his first-team debut in an FA Cup match against Chelsea in February 2016 while his compatriot, Nmecha made his professional debut for Manchester City in a League Cup clash vs Leicester City in December 2017, and took in three appearances for the first team last season. City will play their first ICC game against Borrusia Dortmund on Saturday 21st, with clashes versus Liverpool and Bayern Munich yet to come. Is he eligible to play for U17? If not, make U20 monitor am. Nigerian Striker Dubbed The New Zlatan Ibrahimovic Scores FOUR Goals As Norwich City U23 Hammer Borussia Dortmund Published: July 17, 2018 Precocious Norwich City Nigerian teenage striker, Adam Idah grabbed the headlines yet again on Tuesday after helping himself to four of his side's goals in a 6-0 trouncing of Borussia Dortmund II at the Schwansbell Stadium. Idah, 17, was one of the two players of Nigerian descent in his side's starting XI, the other been defender, Timi Odusina and the duo were impressive during their run-outs. The striker particularly put in a sensational showing for the Canaries, opening scoring from the spot just five minutes into the match before waltzing through the Dortmund defence to feed teammate, Payne who then set up Spyrou to score. His best was even yet to come though as he scored four minutes to the break and then added two more afterwards, the pick of his efforts arguably his last to make it 6-0 when he took on the opposition defenders, outwitting them in style before dispatching with aplomb. Both players were promoted to the U23s last season despite their tender years and they will not be short of suitors who will be willing to offer them first team football. At the end of last campaign, the talented striker, who has been compared to Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, made a clean sweep of the club's annual awards, taking home both the U18 Player Of The Year and Academy Player Of The Year. ChrisKels:I am trying to see if this is the same Kingsley Michael I know because all the pictures I am seeing one lanky dark in complexion and tall guy. It's is different from the fair in complexion Kingsley Michael I know. Abeg, post his picture with Nigeria U17 and now. Thanks |
ChrisKels:Bennetts only played friendlies for England U20. He can still play for Nigeria U20. Mandela Egbo should be monitored and invited to the National team once he begins to make the bench or have some games. We need to wait until they become Super stars. |
ChrisKels:Sunderland’s Asoro prefers Nigeria to Sweden by David Ngobua @Ngobuadavid Joel Joshghene Asoro who plays for English Championship side, Sunderland has expressed readiness to switch allegiance from Sweden to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Although he has represented Sweden at the U-17 and U-20 level, the attacking midfielder’s parents are Nigerians and so he is eligible to play for the Super Eagles. A confidant of the player, who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, said the youngster is willing to dump Sweden for Nigeria, if the Super Eagles coach would give him a chance. He said the strong forward is ready to give the other strikers in the Super Eagles a fight for shirt in the team that will represent Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. “It is true that Joel has featured for Sweden at the junior levels but he is keen on playing for his fatherland. “Although he was born and brought up in Sweden, his parents are Nigerians and he is yet to feature for Sweden at the national level. “Joel will bring attacking options to the national team so if I have access to the national team handlers, I would ask them to give the youngster a chance to fight for shirt in the Super Eagles. “He said he is ready to come if invited. He is also ready to fight for shirt for the 2018 World Cup,” said the player’s associate. Asoro signed for English side Sunderland in 2015 but made his professional debut on 21 August 2016, in the league against Middlesbrough. The 18 year old, who has played 9 times for the Sweden U-21 side made his debut when he started in the 1-1 draw against Spain on 5 September 2016 and also scored the last goal in the team’s 3-0 victory over Estonia on 6 October 2016. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/amplite/sunderland-s-asoro-prefers-nigeria-to-sweden.html |

edi287:He is currently their best young player this season. I heard he is left footed and a winger when he played for our U20 team this year. |
goldfish80:When i first brought our attention to this lad here, one mischievously called me names in order to potray me a tribalist but I know my conscience is clear and I will keep saying what I know his right. That was even 2 years ago matter ooooooo. Anyway, shortly, after I am through with somethings, I will begin to monitor our players both home and abroad. Faleye and the other guy that got red card in the AFCON tournament showed potential.

komekn:Welcome to the 'haters' club. Hahahaha! |
komekn:If these explains his personality, why not bring him on? We are ready if we are truly serious but that should be after Rohr's tenure. For now, he remains the boss and we should give him the support he needs to succeed. |
komekn:Yes. |

ChrisKels:You mean if he has a good showing with Hoffenheim in the Bundusliga, he is not good enough for the SE? What a joke? Even U20 and SE was fighting for Musa in his days. |
komekn:Can you list his coaching experience? If we are not going for Nigerian FB, I will rather go for Chris Hughton. He is the most experienced of all and has a very good record. |

Hope it goes through but it shouldn't spoil market for Taiwo Awoniyi move to Monaco. Liverpool Interested In Signing This 23 Y/O European Attacker: Right Fit For Klopp’s Plans? KAA Gent winger Moses Simon has confirmed that five times Champions League winner Liverpool have shown an interest in bringing him to Anfield. The Nigerian missed a chance to play at the World Cup due to injury, however, that hasn’t stopped Liverpool from pursuing the 23-year-old, talented winger. It is being reported that Jurgen Klopp sees him as someone who can bring in a much-required depth to his squad as they look to win something substantial and end their six-year trophy drought. The attacking ace is rated at £10m and this could be Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer after they sealed the deals for Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri. Liverpool’s squad depth was exposed in the Champions League final last season after an injury to Mohamed Salah as the team struggled to get going and Adam Lallana, who was brought in as a replacement, didn’t have much game time behind him, having struggled throughout the season with injuries. Klopp will be aware that to go the distance in big competitions, having a strong bench is as important as having a strong playing eleven. Simon can play down either of the wings but his preferred position is that of a left winger. So the Nigerian could well be a backup option for Sadio Mane. Liverpool, meanwhile, have already signed Shaqiri who will play down the right wing. The Nigerian starlet is currently recovering from the injury for which he missed the World Cup and recently said, ”Yes, I can confirm my agent told me about Liverpool’s interest in me. I find it interesting and I leave the dealings with him and the club.’’ The Reds have been playing some of the best football in the country as they made their way to the Champions League final last season. Only a few goalkeeping errors and a bad luck with injury derailed their game as they were matching Real Madrid punch for punch in the finals. Simon has an abundance of pace but he still is an unfinished product as he needs to add more of a goal threat to his game. The Nigerian made 33 appearances in all competitions last season and managed just 6 goals. Maybe Klopp can bring out the best in him but Premier League will most definitely be the sternest test that the 23-year-old has ever faced in his career. tbaba1234:What about Keanan Bennetts (Left midfielder) and Mandela Egbo (right back) both of Borussia-Monchengladbach? Shawn Adewoye (CB) of Genk should be contacted once he gets some game time. We don't know what they will turn out to be. We need Keanan-Bennetts because, since he is a left midfielder and left footed, he will fit well into our new formation and Rohr himself is looking for left footed players. That's why I think Deji and Samuel could easily make the team since they are left footed and since Rohr is searching for left footed players, provided they play some games. Sheyi Ojo is also left footed and a right winger. He's interested in playing for Nigeria. Maybe e break through Liverpool first team this season will get our attention. We need Shawn Adewoye too because we really need to breed CBs due to the ageing once. He is still eligible to play for the U20 because he's yet to play a competitive match for Belgium but we can lure him to the SE. Besides these players, we should intensify efforts to get those German defenders, Ademola Lookman and Lukas Nnechem. They are good players. I forgot to add Taiwo Awoniyi. That is if he eventually goes to Monaco. |
