TheGoodJoe: Even the bolded is wrong. Oga! We didn't know what transpired behind the scene. Save me this downgrade of Ighalo. Did you hear what he told the coach? Oya! Tell me. For me, the coach must have told him to prepare when we still needed to seal the game and after Ahmed scored the second goal, he might have asked the coach... Do I still go in? Anything, can happen. This is not the first time we saw players doing that in such situation. Abeg. |

TheGoodJoe: If we allowed to prove in decent league, Uzoho would not be in goal today. It is time we kill that mind set and just keep searching for the best.
"When I was in Nigeria, I discovered Daniel Amokachi in Enugu when Ranchers Bees played a league game with Rangers.
“I walked up to their bus and told him he will be in my (Super Eagles) team, he said which team and I told him right there in the presence of other players, I’m the national team manager but he said he was just 16 years old and I said it didn’t matter."---Clemence Westerhoff (Super Eagles former Head Coach) If we consider the calibre of goalkeepers we had Uzoho is very average. Sorry to say. You are confident they save penalty, freekick, shots etcetera. But Uzoho is not good in all. I still don't think he is the best goalkeeper we have judging from the spot kicks and other factors. Hope he improves but before then I want to see the Brazilian and German breed Nigerian goalkeepers, even Alampasu before I conceed he is better. However, Rangers Bees of those days is not efulefu and even our league was not talent drained as we are having it now. 98% of Nigerian players played in the local league but very tangible fraction played abroad. So, it was normal to scout players from the local league. If not why you no put Lokosa for ya list ahead of Onyekuru and co? |

TheGoodJoe: I want the best in every role and not a particular player. So I wonder why Nwakali popped up.
Also, Kelechi Nwakali might not be as pacy as the likes of Chukwueze and Moses but he has insane stamina and covers a lot of grass. Which also falls in line with what I am pointing out. Chidiebere Nwakali is fast and has insane stamina.
I am pointing out that a mixture of pace, intensity and stamina should be a big part of our team selection. That's why I said if it is Chidi, he is down the pecking order not to talk of Chukwueze who is down down in the order. |

TheGoodJoe: I do not understand what you are asking. There is no Nwakali in what you quoted. And high of the Nwakali's are you referring to? I asked because I was not sure. I thought it is Chidi Nwakali. Sorry. If it the Villareal B lad, I think he is similar but down the pecking order for now. He should be allowed to prove himself in a decent league. That's all. |

TheGoodJoe: I also found Ighalo telling Rohr to let him in and the coach responding to his demand disturbing. Especially, expecting us to switch to a one man upfront formation to defend the lead.
cc: LordBalish We don't know what transpired behind the scene. Rohr could have told him to prepare once we scored the second goal or Rohr must have told him something that gave the liver to remind the coach. Like... Can I go in now? We don't know. |

TheGoodJoe: I still believe we have a sleeping weapon in Victor Moses and if he had the opportunity to play the same role Musa had, he would have been impressive. I hope Moses get the chance soon to show what he can do as an attacker.
Either way, Musa was prolific and deserves the accolades he gets.
When you think of the amount of players with similar attributes like Onyekuru, Chukwueze, Success, you can see in a set-up that promotes these kind of players, we can have a formidable team. Is it Nwakali? I don't think he is among the top 5 of players similar in attributes to those players. He down the pecking order. |

Oasis007: It wasn't special to me, cos prior to the World Cup, especially during the Friendlies we are 2nd Half Team.
We were lucky to have Musa in the Game, coz the Vikings are weak already, thus Musa's pace was exploited positively.
Also I think the Pairing of Musa and Iheanacho should be maintained, Ighalo is kinda too slow for 3 - 5 - 2 Formation. Tyrone should be used as a RWB, while Moses is tried out as LWB. Idowu wasn't removed because he was poor but he was removed because of the yellow card he received and the fact that Iceland attacked mostly from our left wing. He will definitely start the next match. |

Nigeria 2-0 Iceland player ratings: Ahmed Musa fires Super Eagles to win as Victor Moses shinesGylfi Sigurdsson missed a penalty as Iceland were beaten in Group D By Oliver Harbord 17:56, 22 JUN 2018 Nigeria sealed their first win of World Cup 2018 as they beat Iceland 2-0 in Group D courtesy of a Ahmed Musa brace. After a first half that would be easily forgotten, the match sprung into life inside the first five minutes of the second period when Musa first home the opening goal with a wonderful finish. The game was all but sealed when with 15 minutes to go as well when Musa got his second with a calm finish after rounding the goalkeeper and finishing well. Gylfi Sigurdsson should have got one back for Iceland, but he fired his penalty woefully over the bar and the Super Eagles clinched the victory. Here is how we rated the players: Francis Uzoho - GKMade a decent save from Sigurdsson's free kick, but only was really tested one more time in the first half as it was a pretty quiet opening 45 minutes. Wasn't really tested throughout much of the second half as well, so a comfortable game. 6 Kenneth Omeruo - LCBComing into the side he made a decent start, attacking the ball well and winning tackles and headers. That continued in the second half as well as he really showed a lot of composure and strength. 7 William Troost-Ekong - RCBWasn't really given too much worry and his positioning was good throughout the encounter. It was an impressive display at the back from all three with the long throws dealt with well. 7 Leon Balogun - CBMade a few crucial headers in the first half and held on to the Iceland attackers well, dealing with the long throws well and crosses into the box. He was a real rock in the second half as well, plus he showed some good threat at the other end of the pitch. 8 Brian Idowu - LWBIceland really tried to attack down his side and a late yellow card in the first half meant that he was taken off at the break. 4 Victor Moses - RWBTried to get down the right wing in a position that Chelsea fans have become accustomed to seeing him in the past two seasons. However, poor final balls in the first half. But that changed in the second half as he was a lot more positive and did really well for Musa's first goal. 7 Jon Obi Mikel - DCMHeld his position well in front of the back three and tried to find the strikers' feet with balls forward. Looks so much more comfortable playing in the deeper role than further forward and provides excellent balance to the team. 7 Wilfred Ndidi - CMDidn't really produce enough quality going forward and struggled to get into the game that much in the first half, although good defensively. Was more positive in the second half with a rasping effort that forced the Iceland keeper into a save. 5 Oghenekaro Etebo - CMMade some important defensive challenges, but not good enough going forward as well in the first half. Almost changed that in the second half as he made a bursting run through and almost scored when he got his shot away. Was a lot better in the second half. 6 Showed some great pace at times, however not the quality there to link up with Iheanacho. However, in the 50th his wonderful touch and finish gave Nigeria the lead. It was an excellent goal. He then got his second with another excellent finish. 9 Kelechi Iheanacho -CFThe Leicester City man showed some great movement, running in the channels to cause some issues for the centre-backs. Didn't have many chances himself though. 6 Substitutes Tyronne EbuehiPlayed well for much of the second half but gave away a silly penalty that Sigurdsson missed. 5 Odion IghaloN/A Alex IwobiN/A http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/943424950?-19787:29107:3 |
