Humility017: it depends on what you call a high profile striker... to me for a striker to have scored 7 goals for an average team in a league like seria A where you have some tough defenders...and even against juventus scored a CR7 kind of goal...tells alot about his abilities...
I rate him highly compare to Ighalo... Ighalo has scored 6 goals for a season in la Liga and he has scored goals against big clubs with better defence than any Serie A team. Yes! Barcelona, Athletico Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool etc were the big clubs with better and tougher defenders than those Seria A clubs, he has scored against. Funny enough, he scored those goals with average Granada and Watford. To add salt to injury, he scored double digits... I mean 15 goals in EPL. Abeg, Simy never reach Ighalo. No bi same level for now. Hope Simy does better but for now, make una stop comparison. |

BascoVanVeli: Why someone would make such a stupid foul is crazy af That guy just came on and he don tire already. Besides, our players should learn from that freekick. The Swedish players ought to have rushed the Germans as soon as he passed the ball but they they gave them luxury of time to execute their plan. Lesson learnt. Anybody wey dey for Nigerian camp dey read dis, abeg help me tell them to rush any freekick leg touch once because once a player touches the ball, that tantamount to freekick taken. Thank you. |

komekn: I would agree with you without reservation.
In order to make a substantive deduction about quality what is benchmark or unit of measurement that we are using.
Is it just height or is it the youngest or is it club performances, he has had two senior games in club football he is essentially an academy player.
Uzoho has done OK not exceptional the only thing that distinguishes him from all the other Nigerian goalkeepers is one thing, OPPORTUNITY.
For whatever reason he was given the opportunity thats all, there was no methodology to it.
If other goalkeeper were given the same opportunity would they have done better, We will never know because they were NEVER GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY or you could say in the negative they were denied opportunity.
But that no longer matters he is the one selected we will support him. How far will he go in club football after the world cup. I absolutely have no idea, but it's a big boost to his career at age 19. That's the word. Opportunity. |

TheGoodJoe: Musa had to stop and picked a tight angle while there was a chunk of space open between the defenders and the keeper for Nacho to finish.
Nacho is more electric in the box and a pass would have ended the struggle. However, like I told some people where I watched the match, Musa knew what he was doing. He went for the spectacula and achieved, lucky he did not end with the ordinary. By that time Kelechi was behind him and passing to him be back pass when he faced with only the post with two defenders but no goalkeeper. Remember, Musa na striker no be back man. He did the needful. Finito |

TheGoodJoe: Musa went for the more difficult option. He could have lost to ball to the keeper. Nacho asked for the ball before Musa skipped past the Goalkeeper. On normal terms, if Musa missed that ball he could have been crucified because Nacho was better placed to finish it.
That is another reason I pointed at Moses attacking because attackers can get away with being selfish. The goalkeeper anticipated a pass to Iheanacho and he could have caught the ball but Musa did otherwise. In short, many people never anticipated Musa should pass because he was on the motion and thinks happened fast. He followed his instinct and it worked. |

lexyman: that error came as a result of playing a right full back as a left full back , he went for the ball with the right leg, if he was to be a left footer , he would have controlled used the left foot and that would have saved us from the blunder Omeruo orchestrated. we will do better against Argentina , i hope they will use their 3-5-2 formation against us too . A troubled Argentine team will come out like a wounded lion against , we brighten their hope and we can also make them to experience pain that they have caused us in the past . I also rate Awaziem highly and keep in mind Ranieri said Awaziem is very good dealing with aerial threats too. So you can not blame those who rate Awaziem higher.
They are both quality and I hope with time we do a proper screening process and select the right three for our central defense line. I concur with the first sentence. Awaziem is very good at setpieces from crosses. He is good in the air. But I am not sold on him in the CB position. I will rather play him on the back wings or as a DMF. |

We got under pressure with the Iceland players pushing for a goal. Taking out one of the work horses of the team in the midfield for Iwobi who contributes less in respect of tracking, marking and Tackling was clearly a wrong option. Etebo was already tired and he needed a rest. He was subbed in the last 10 minutes of the game. Iwobi came in to take his place was spot on. We almost scored the 3 goal with him on the pitch. Now, that scared the hell out the Icelandic and reduced the pressure on us. |

Musa being tired or not was not the response but setting up the team to conserve a two goal lead. Nacho contributes more defensively than Musa. So Musa had to be the one to go out. Not tiredness. Also, John Ogu will bring more stability at the back with Etebo dropping deep to help support the midfield in defending. Thank God you are not the coach. |

Omeruo didn’t force Ebuehi to make dat mistake because Omeruo already shielded the player and ball was already going out before Ebuehi committed that foul. chrisooblog: Goodjoe I hail I find your point on the musa iheanacho goal scenario interesting but like the good book says paul plants peter waters who cares as long as souls are won and in this case goal scored.
Forgiveness I can't change your view about francis but note when Enyeama kept in 2002 it was in a meaningless last match against england that nothing was on the line. Vincent as of then was still a raw package who took years to become the legendary goalkeeper that he is. In the early years he wasn't good saving penalties remember how Dele aiyenugba always had to replace him when it came to penalty shootouts in CAF champions league matches. Also he wasn't initially great with crosses but we're still stuck with him even though he was rough around the edges.
Uzoho on the other hand has been thrown into the deep end and to the young man's credit he has so far done exceptionally well. Is it crosses he has done well is it free kicks he has saved alot penalties he will get better besides the ones he conceded can beat any goalkeeper. The only fear I had was if he won't b over whelmed by the huge occasion but apart from the poland match where he showed some jitteriness he has been a calm influence in the defence. Of all the goals we have let in its only one we can blame him for the second English goal in the friendly even that can be excused.
Mark my words francis will be a good servant for many years for the super eagles
On to more important things glad to see the technical crew is showing seriousness by training today we need to start to prepare for the Argentinians. They are desperate wounded animals who will come at us with everything they have got. Hope rohr drills our players to cope with the onslaught. If we are smart and resolute the argentinians vulnerable and there for the taking. May God reward our hardwork. Amen
LET'S GO SUPER EAGLES. Whether the match was meaningless or not, Enyeama showed he had the trait of a great goalkeeper in that particular match. Finito I am not saying Uzoho is bad but if we see a better goalkeeper than him, it should be a welcome development. Abi, you no dey pray to get something better than Enyeama? |

Uzoho will be number 1 for a long time, because new coaches rarely change #1 goalies as long as they have proven to be good.
And despite your reservations, the rest of the world has seen that Uzoho is good, even controversial Oliseh was impressed by the boy. Na only you know wetin you still dey find Of course! Enyeama was relegated to the bench for Austin Ejide when Berti came as a coach. We have 180 million population and there was no census done to conclude only me have reservation. Was there? safarigirl: if you consider Uzoho's age, you will not be considering him alongside keepers in their late 20's-early 30's
He is just starting, compare him to a 20-year old Enyeama, were you always confident about him? Did you think he could pull his weight at a senior World Cup back then?
Uzoho has done well for his age, he has done very well in fact and could very well be greater than Enyeama in the coming years considering how well he has handled pressure so far
The boy is yet to concede from open play, there are many other keepers far better than him in this tournament who have conceded. So, it is about time we stopped considering the players we could have had and focus on the one we do have.
It is very easy to assume someone else could have done better, when the person cannot be in that position. For all we know, the 'better' goalies would have crumbled under pressure.
Uzoho has earned some level of trust from fans and it is very unfair of you, and anyone else, to keep on bringing up players who may or may not have done better. Give him his accolades abeg, enough of sizing him up with others, everybody's time will come First of all, Enyeama at 19 can't be compared with Uzoho because he had already achieved alot at that age and was obviously better than Uzoho. Enyeama held the record of the youngest Nigerian Gk to keep for Nigeria in the world cup, and the youngest Nigerian Gk not to conceed a goal in the world cup after the goalless draw against England at the age of 19 years, yes. He was just three months older than Uzoho. Fact His phenomenal performance in that match left no doubt he was up for the job and fit the cap to take the mantle of his precedent which standard they have set so high. I mean Enyeama showed the trait of the phenomenal one at his age So, what you have said up there is not correct in regards to Enyeama's age. He was not yet 20 years old when he made his debut against England in the world cup. Fact Although, nobody thought he could pull his weight at a senior worldcup back then but we saw the trait of a phenomenal one without any reservation but that can't be said of Uzoho for now. Unless, he does something spetacular as the world cup goes. Anyway, like I said I hope he improves but until den we must see others to confirm he is better. Afterall, Enyeama was given the chance likewise Uzoho. Unfortunately, the standard his precedent set demands that we don't settle for less and there is no way Nigerians fan will not put that in question when dey don't see the trait of the likes of Enyeama, Peter Rufai, Rigogo, etc. It has become a tradition. I didn't say Uzoho is bad but he has not so far shown that trait of our great goalkeepers. That's my point. Hopefully, he does but before then others must be given the chance to ascertain if they are better or Uzoho is better. It's competition and it's healthy for the SE. |
