AnonyNymous: You think they're stupid? Hahaha. They know why they're doing that. Do you think the man holding the umbrella is not rich enough to employ 10 black men to do it for him? You see, unlike Nigerians, they are more interested in creating wealth than showing it off. After putting that one on his high horse now, he will be eager to spend his money on whatever proposal the Chinese people are showing him. Which is exactly what they want. Bush, Obama, and other US presidents are always holding their own umbrellas/taking off their own suits, etc. They don't allow these kind of psychological tricks because they want to be on level ground when making a business deal. Those who have pretended to love one lecturer by washing his car and sucking up to him every single day will understand. At the end of the day you get your A, you get the lecturer's favor, and he just feels proud of himself. Its not to say that you can't do things genuinely for people but this is a simple way of getting someone to listen to you. But when a black dude does this to get "favour", he is considered a "slave" It is a major slave mentality if you castigate your own people but find excuse for an 'Oyinbo' who does same. |

When something is not your culture, its simply not...the Yoruba people who are known for this culture don't abuse it this way. We normally have a person who accompany the celebrant carrying an empty carton or a nylon bag. He retrieves the money spent on the celebrant, and the fallen ones are picked up immediately.
The idea is to show love to the celebrant and not a showoff and abuse of money like non Yorubas portray it to be. |

EternalTruths: Pls keep that term in the religious sector.
How will you feel if I had typed Great Yahweh or Jesus or HolyGhost.?
Try to understand. And what is wrong with a Christian saying 'up Yahweh?', the problem with you ignorant folks is really interesting. A liberal society actually respects everybody's view be you Atheist, Theist or Agnostic as long as your views don't infringe on other people's rights. So just like some are predisposed to saying- Holy shit! Damn it! Bleep.. .some will also shout-Jesus! Ogun o! Chineke whenever they have a shocking experience ...the reality of our lives will naturally reflect in our actions in every human interactions. You can tell us how somebody shouting Chineke! and another shouting Allahu Akbar! Infringe on your rights Sha. |

Hello Edulanders,
I have now finally decided to go for my masters degree in the Us, but the issue for me now is that I have no clue about the processings or procedures. And this is why I'm asking for guids from experienced fellow nairalanders. My area of interest is international studies. I also want a school that is affordable, and offers part time classes so that I can work and study conveniently. Please help a brother! Thanks in advance. |
