Keneking:
Where would they use the gunships? Is there any deep sea in the north east part of Nigeria grin
This government sef shocked

gunship
At first, gunships were naval vessels sporting guns, very simple. In more recent history, the term gunship has been applied to aircraft. The role of a modern gunship is to get as much ordinance on the target as possible and blow the shit out of the enemy. Gunships come in the form of both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. Gunships are usually based on a designated gunship frame (the AH-64 Apache)or off cargo style craft that have been modified for the purpose (AC-47 Spooky).
The US military uses the gunship for close air support and shock and awe missions. The gunship is usually in support of other units. They circle or patrol a certain area and unleash hell as needed

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gunship

Are you sure that you are not the hugely uninformed one? How folks with zero military training or exposure in any type of warfare apart from some street brawns while growing up and some few internet clicks somehow imagine that they know more than men that have gotten military and warfare trainings.

The present cynicism fuelled by APC and her allies who do not just like the face or person of the President is spilling in a dangerous direction. How a political movement somehow believes and champions the idea that denigrating, talking down and insulting the offices and institutions of the Federal Government and what really makes Nigeria the country that it is somehow rubs off on the President they do not like and as such secures them a chance to replace him will definitely be a subject for thesis for sociologists.

Before you accuse me of dragging APC into the discussion, check the threads on NL and confirm for yourself the political party alignment of most of the people that insult this country, her military, her President, foreign missions, policies and programs. Some of their leaders even travelled to UK to further achieve this aim. When last did you hear the message of hope from these men and their followers on NL? This should worry every sensible human being.

Because I don't understand you at all....

What you should've have been asking yourself is... Which way Nigeria?
Which news are we going to believe?

Yesterday we heard that BOKO HARAM is gone but today it's a different story....

But here you're insulting me..... Whatever it is, it's just a matter of opinion so no offense bro ride on

Your OP seem to shoot holes at the efforts of our men in uniform while escalating the invincibility of our common enemy. He is right to call you to order. Any post that attempt to glorify the evils of the late Shekau or his lieutenants in any way diminishes us all.

Politics / Re: Nigerian Youths Need To Thank Idoma For Allowing D. Mark Run For 5th Term- Gana by FrankC3: 11:51am On Oct 03, 2014
I really don't understand some Nigerians and how they look at issues like this. What exactly is wrong with retaining a Senator that represents you well enough and has proven to have a strong base by winning elections to the Senate at the elections? Seems most of the people campaigning against Senator Mark are not even from Benue, let alone his Senatorial District and their only problem with him is that he has been there long enough. Is that really reasonable? It also seems that people compare Nigerian government with that of the US when it favours them, if not, they would have known that men like Sen Robert Byrd has been in the US Senate for 51 years while Sen Daniel Inuoye has been there for 49 years and these men have served in the era of many Presidents and has seen the full view of certain policy directions and as such, truly enrich the quality of political and policy debates. Sane societies don't ask them to resign because they have served for too long, rather, their contributions are evaluated against expectations.

For me, Senator Mark is a very sound and mature Senator and has ensured stability in the polity and the upper chamber in this dispensation. To other Nigerians whom Senator Mark do not represent, he has served us all well. He has proven his patriotism with the way he managed the stormy times in our national life from the Yar'Adua power transition to the Labour issues and military issues. If his Senatorial District still want to send him to Senate, then it is good for us all.

I don't pretend that I have no idea why some people do not like him, which may include that he conducts the affairs of the Senate with much respect, maturity and dignity and does not seem to favour Tambuwal kind of confrontational approach to issue resolution and is also a strong stabilizing force in the polity. Those people actually prefer more anarchy in the system because to them, it somehow rubs off on the President who is the main target. These reasons are just selfish to me. We need more experienced lawmakers at upper and lower chambers!!
Politics / Re: AIG Mbu: Yes He Is The Man We Need, Support HIM! by FrankC3: 11:31am On Oct 03, 2014
I learnt that Mbu caused the guy to be detained (the law backs him to detain for at most 48 hours) and has charged him to court. I don't think any legal law has been broken yet, though Mbu seem to have broken some moral law and stands indicted in the court of public opinion. The Mbu that we know does not really care as long as the legal angle is covered.

But one important question I would like to ask the APC supporters who are opposed to Mbu's action because of his 'fight' with their own Gov Amaechi, how exactly is what Mbu did any different from what Buhari had done and will still likely do if he becomes President?

dridowu: I don't know how corruption free is Imo state but i believe that the poorest state in Nigeria can sustain free education in all levels IF they are 100% corruption free.

I am tempted to ask at the expense of what? Actually, not many states in Nigeria can afford free education up to tertiary level even without corruption without experiencing huge fiscal dislocation. That dislocation means that some other programs will be impacted, that's why I ask at the expense of what.

Education could be subsidized at primary level as it is done in other serious countries, but not made free. For tertiary education, folks should be able to access loans that they will pay back. It think they call it student loans in some countries. I personally do not believe that any thing is free. Even on our streets, free drink is not really free. Only uncreayive and lazy government leadership talks about free primary to tertiary education, sef even add free feeding to the package.

If I hire an image maker and he makes half the mistakes that Major Olukolade has made, no matter his qualifications and CV, I will send him packing. Under this man's watch, things have spiralled out of control, our gallant boys have been called cowards and lies have been reported as truths. He seem not to have a strong network of information control within the army and struggles with communicating with the Press and the public. He plays catch up to the traditional media instead of those media houses playing catch up to him.

Look at his handling of information management on the death of Shekau impostor and even that of the main Shekau earlier. Even when he is saying the truth, it sounds like a lie.

Look at his handling of the Chibok kidnap issue. He partly made the President look as if nothing is being done about it and totally mismanaged perception aspect of our military as an institution that Nigerians can trust to protect them.

I am and will remain a GEJ supporter, but I also know that the best thing for the Army right now is to redeploy him. This man may be very smart and all but he is not just cut out for the job he is presently doing. Even Frank Mba of Nigeria Police communicates better than him.

This does not diminish my respect for Major Olukolade as a fine military officer, not a fine public communicator.

gratiaeo: A large percentage of Nigeria are wearing made in Aba products some without known

You are right on point. Also, check those 'TM' and 'Giant' brands in your wardrobe. Are they really from foreign TM or local TM? Majority of the shoes people buy because they are Italian, those 'exotic' suites, those 'original Italian leather belt' and those specially branded 'exotic' shirts are actually as 'exotic as Aba is. I am not guessing, if you doubt me, take a trip to Aba and see how much the guy that print 'Mark and Spencer' or 'Giant' or 'TM Lewi*' labels make each day. You will be blown away as I was.

Some may argue this but fact is that same applies to most food items we consume in this country. Your 'mama Gold' rice is actually produced and bagged somewhere in Jigawa or Abakaliki, your Italian marble is cast somewhere around Ikeja and many other such products.

The more important question is what forces Nigerian SMEs to have to change the brand on the goods they produce to the name of a foreign brand so that they can penetrate the market. The answer to this will reveal the sickness, mental corruption and hypocrisy on the middle and upper class.

If the PDP federal government can allow an anti corruption agency that is part of the Presidency to build a case, investigate and finally arrest a PDP gubernatorial aspirant with huge financial war chest from oil theft despite the man being friends with close aids of the President, party BoT chairman and a serving powerful minister, it can only mean that the PDP as a party does not officially support corrupt practices of members, the fight against oil theft is yielding result and that the EFCC is largely autonomous and reasonably incorrupt.

No country approaches a State within another sovereign country for any kind of help. Besides, the EVD control center in Lagos is not run by the LASG, it is being managed by the Ministry of Health. Liberian Government cannot approach Lagos State government for any kind of help, same way Nigeria cannot approach the California State for any kind of help.

The best that happened in this case is that the LASG collaborated with the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Health. The Director should not pretend that LASG was responsible for the EVD control efforts, no. FMH was. State Ministries of Health supported mainly from enlightenment drive, the very type that the director was doing when he/she made that statement.

size38: I can see a defeatist cry here. Things must be reported when and how they happen. Boko haram has stolen d usual and frequent media reportage on PDP and their clueless president.

Why does your party, the APC believe that helping Boko Haram spread their message of terror on Nigerians somehow feather their political cap and diminishes the standing of the President and the PDP? Why does the APC and her leaders shy away from uttering encouraging words to our fighting brave soldiers at the war front in the NE but quick to chant about how BH has captured towns in the NE, verified or not? Why does media houses perceived to be sympathetic to APC never report advances made by our soldiers but even go to the extent of fabricating stories of captured towns just to paint BH as being ahead of our military, similar trait inherent in APC and her followers?

Something is definitely wrong with the mindset of that political party and her follower-ship and it is cancerous. Something is wrong with a group of Nigerians that take every opportunity to put down Nigeria and her institutions (including our military and the office of the President) all in an attempt to capture power from the PDP. It is definitely a sick mindset.

The anti EVD campaign in Nigeria is being technically coordinated by Dr Faisal Shuaib. Dr Shuaib is the real definition of expert in public health at the highest and best level and he stands to be acclaimed for his efforts that has seen Nigeria recording the lowest mortality rate of this disease in recent times.

Based on this good doctor's assesment and that of many other supporting unsung anti ebola heroes, the Ministry of Health was advised on school resumption date. The NMA that was actually on strike until the outbreak was comfortable contained came out to dish out political statements contradicting this advise.

One thing is obvious, Nigeria's handling of the EVD outbreak can be described as near excellent and NMA, House of Reps and folks like them are not the reasons for this level success. The EVD control centre that is being run by the Ministry of Health through the likes of Dr Faisal and other dedicated Nigerians are the ones that has brought us this far. We should stick to their working formula!!

You are sounding like BH propagandist. Even the media agencies that are most critical of Nigeria's military campaign in the NE have confirmed that Bama attack was repelled successfully and you are here telling us to believe the opposite. BH have failed the more. BH is a challenge to Nigerian government, a challenge that will also fizzle away with time, but that axis is still reasonably under the control of FG.

You may be logically correct (the insult part aside) but NMA lost lots of credibility and public sympathy (emotional support) by insisting on the strike action. The perception of the masses is that the Government was able to manage EVD without the help of the doctors. That position is terribly uninformed, probably because NMA has made those same masses to believe that THEY ARE the doctors and without them, the National health system collapses.

Now that we are having a decent discussion, what you cited indicates an increase in imports into the country. It said nothing about the exports. It even further enriches the diversification efforts.

I really assume that you understand that balance of trade indicates the difference between what is imported and what is exported. What you are citing is the import values. Look at the export values and derive the balance of trade yourself and you will notice that we are actually having a surplus. From the same site you make reference to, please see below:

A country is sad to have trade surplus when it exports more than it imports!! The last time we had trade surplus in this country was in the 60s!!

I suggest you fix your title to say trade deficit.

That aside, all our lofty economic indices since Jonathan became the president seem to begin and end on the pages of papers!! On ground, things seem to heading the opposite direction!!

#Fact!

Nigeria actually has a surplus balance of trade. It is not on paper, it is a fact. That indicates an improving Nigeria as against your wishes and prayers of a failing Nigeria aimed at having something to complain about. The same data that identifies US as the biggest economy in the world and Lagos as the commercial hub of Nigeria (which you celebrate) also shows that Nigeria has a trade surplus with a fast expanding middle class.

What do you really have against this country and her hardworking people?

No reason at all and no excuse apart from laziness and focus on things that doesn't really matter.

Don't paint a picture of a country that suddenly changed for the worse, this country has never been better. And you should wean off this idea of 'someone' providing jobs for the younger generation to pass their WAEC exams, doesn't just connect. There is no black hole anywhere, the only place it exists is in the mindset. Thousands of Nigerians are getting well paid jobs daily, as at today, Nigeria is the major skill hub of Western Africa and is threatening to join India as the next global supply of skilled workforce. Hundreds of Nigerians, as I am typing, are receiving phone calls from head hunters from Ontario to London to Johannesburg to all parts of the world because of what they have to offer, so my friend, stop dragging the focus of those young ones down on what does not work, show them what works.

Let us not explain away our individual failures or those of our younger ones, lets tell them the truth. Nigeria must rise taller but we must start taking responsibilities. And while we chide the lazy ones, we must commend the few blazing ones for keeping the torch of excellence on through determined hard work. When many in the cities went home with 9 F9s, some in the remote villages, with no access to pipe borne water, no electricity and who still fetch their firewood in the forest to make meals got home with 9 As and Bs. They are the heroes of today and we must make them feel that way.

whitecat007: I think €20 from nothing is a big leap and you should be appreciative of the then Nigeria govt for giking every ibo a chance to live a normal life.

Igbos do not hate you for supporting Buhari and Tinubu and APC. Why do you hate Igbos for supporting GEJ and PDP? If Igbos are making mistake by their present political alignment, they fully understand the implication and are willing to live with it. They do not and have never asked for your help in cleaning their mess. They owe you no explanation for the choices they make. And more importantly, what is all these hate speeches on the internet meant to achieve? You are 'smart' and 'sophisticated', Igbos have no issues with that so far you let them live their own choices. Heck! Even if you do not let them, it does not change anything cos they will still go ahead and live that choice.

What the hate speeches against GEJ, PDP and some political blocs have done is to galvanise even more support for GEJ and the PDP. During 2011 elections, NLers 'loved GEJ but hated PDP' and voted him in with that. Today, courtesy the stuupid media strategy of the APC and men like El-Rufai, many people who do not even care about PDP are active supporters. It is natural for me to stick to my choices, even if they are wrong, when I notice that you are insulting me for making those choices. What I don't understand is why APC has conceded loss of some parts of this country even before the election. Reminds me of Mitt Romney in 2012. People like you are not doing APC any favours.

Seem that folks were quick to request for source of the 'first release' but somehow blind to the fact that this particular 'release' has no source just like the first.
