Yes, I did. I’m the primary applicant while he is the dependant. His visa is same duration as mine so he can stay or visit at will.

To do this though, make sure your sop is strong and you have strong ties in Nigeria. To be on the safe side most agents will advice that one partner applies first and thereafter their spouse can apply after some months.

Thanks for your response.

Nairaland / General / Anambra’s Dubai Estate, Awka: Tobenna Obiano Calls For Government’s Presence by Frankdotcom: 4:25pm On Feb 01, 2022
“Government cannot do everything; but every serious Government must at least do the basic, to encourage many others to key in”

The story behind the birthing, growth and sustenance of Anambra’s indigenous real estate company, GSS Group and their first major housing estate project, the Dubai Estate, is one that has become rather very impressive. It does clearly showcase what a dream swiftly followed-up with actions might metamorphose into reality.

A young man, who had proceeded to the university here in Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University to study Architecture, upon graduation, spurred by ecstatic designs sort that perhaps, he could from nothing build-up something. It all began from one lad, a certain Chukwudi Ezenwa, then followed by the masterpiece and excellence that comes from two good heads becoming better than one, bringing forth his friend to later become business partner, Ben Ezemma. What followed next has become a scintillating wonder in its entirety.

Of course, there’s high demand for housing units for Awka residents in particular, many persons in Anambra State and outside Igboland. Those two brilliant chaps caught upon the deficit and grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Today, Dubai Estate shares close proximity with Anambra’s, and perhaps Igboland’s most popular choice estate, Ngozi Housing estate, Awka, by its phase II & Rockland estate, then at the other end is Enugwu Agidi.

The developers of Dubai estate is the GSS Group, a conglomerate with subsidiaries which include the GSS Security- one of the foremost private security firms in Anambra state and gradually permeating other South eastern states; the GSS Construction; BigBen Fashion House, with their head office here in Awka, Anambra State. The GSS Group has now succeeded in creating a wonder out of nothing, laying a solid foundation to curbing huge housing deficit and has set out to building modest houses and creating a paradise-like arena, worth for human inhabitation.

About a year and half ago, I was at Dubai Estate being developed by the GSS constructions and has my very good friend, Architect Chuky Ezenwa sitting on its board as Chairman. During that very visit, not much work has been done; but one thing was sure - I met men at work, doing a lot at that inception. I was given a tour around the virgin parcels of land. I saw and felt their enthusiasm to do wonders in the city firsthand. I was indeed marveled.

The CEO, Arch. Chuky Ezenwa led my team and I, he showed his master plan and what has become their major challenge - creating assess roads. As Government hasn’t been forthcoming, he decided to do the road into the estate to near perfection.

The company is solely financing the road construction, beginning with creating very necessary water ways or drainage systems (gutter) and sand-filling, constructed a solid bridge leading into the estate, then erected a tastefully designed Dubai-replica sort of gigantic entrance gate, plus many other things. While discussing with him on the road construction, Chuky quipped that his intention in asphalting all the roads both within and outside the estate worth over 300 million naira, of which 60% of the work has been done, is geared towards community development where the host community can enjoy access road network and furthermore, giving value to property owners around the estate.

The real estate firm is also fixing the poles for electrification purposes. He also averred in our chat that the community will equally benefit in its power supply project. Good a thing, the proprietor of GSS Group, which amongst their other works include security as aforementioned, has assured dauntless 24/7 security on standby at the estate.

In good time, things were settling in. They went ahead with advertisement, one which my company, EXPLORER MAGAZINE joined them in. They clearly had a master plan, one which any prospective land owner, looking for a choice area in the Eastern part of Nigeria would so gladly buy into. They were doing a nearly two kilometer road all by themselves, all the way from Ngozika Phase II or Rockland estate end, all the way to their Dubai Estate.

I’ve seen some Government representatives and top Government officials including Anambra’s Commissioner for Lands pay them a visit and joined in ground breaking ceremony. However, at all those instances, something extremely important has remained missing - Government’s role in the development of the estate. This is a very necessary way of encouraging them and creating an enabling environment for them.

It’s not enough to sing on the pages of dailies, radio stations, television houses and on social media platforms the chorus of Gov. Willie Obiano’s Akulueuno initiative, one aimed at encouraging successful and willing Anambrarians to bring home their wealth and investments into Anambra State.

Many had long answered that very call, including the GSS Group and their developmental partners, the Dubai Estate. It’s about time the Government of Anambra State keep to their own end. No one is even asking for too much; the least a Government can do is the basics, and in this case, the access and link roads into the areas where businesses are growing. Dubai Estate has done a lot; they richly deserve some sort of support and appreciation.

The other day, nearly after two years after, in the company of a few friends, we once again visited Dubai Estate, where I was welcomed by their Chairman, Architect Chukwudi Ezenwa, his beautiful wife and staffers of the company. We were led round the phase I and phase II of the estate. I was impressed that they’ve now grown to having a phase I & II.

Something stood out. They haven’t been lazing around or waiting upon the Government. They’ve been very busy and working real hard. These guys ae doing a tremendous job there. Chukkie and Big Ben, then the promoters, Kachi, Franklin, Chibuike and their company staffers are more than determined to creating a paradise out of nothing, and at their pace, there’s no stopping them.

While I encourage as many with the means and who can to key-into the GSS/Dubai estate project initiative by purchasing landed properties from them, as I can guarantee that Dubai Estate is the next big thing to happen in Awka and its environs soon, especially going by the influx of businesses, establishments and people into the state capital territory.

At the end of our tour, I sat with the CEO, and in clarity, he told me his plans for the estate and what he plans to set up within the estate. He listed some of the site services to include: Access roads & drainage, perimeter fencing, CCTV surveillance, 24hrs security, Intercom control facility for access gate, street lights & power supply.

He further listed facilities to be domiciled in the estate to include: Children’s playground, estate mall and gym house, school, pool side & recreation, an estate clinic, sports arena, places of worship, and even a hanger for helipad and green vegetation for beautification purposes. What a man? Smart kid! With the wonders he's doing with the GSS Group, it's safe to describe him as a focused leader for the future, driven by enormous passion for excellence, all geared towards the development of Anambra state.

As much as I can guarantee, these young developers and promoters of Awka’s Dubai Estate are out for a big one. The prices of a parcel of land continue to grow from N2.5million to N4.5million, 6.5 million to N8million and just recently, has gotten to about 12.5 million naira only per plot. All these tremendous improvements started just about 3 years ago. The aim isn’t to scare anyone away, but because a paradise is in the offing, and there has been seemingly mad rush to purchase.

Dubai estate developers have a beautiful model and a template that they’re working on and it would be a beauty to behold. I’ve sat with them. I’ve seen the template. I’ve seen more importantly, the passion, the burning desire and the willingness to make a bold statement. As it stands, nothing would stop them from achieving this. A lot of people are already land owners in Dubai Estate. They’ve positioned to join in living within a paradise.

Please, find attached photos from our visit to Anambra’s Dubai Estate some two years ago, and what it has become now.

If you need any further clarifications, you may call them on: 08141690169
Or visit the Group’s website on: www.gssgroup.ng

We are proud of Anambra Dubai Estate. The Government must partner with them too. A paradise is in the offing.

Nairaland / General / Tears Of Joy As Philanthropist, Arnold Ekweoba Donates 2-bedroom Bungalow To Wid by Frankdotcom: 1:26pm On Mar 06, 2021
By Franklin Onwubiko

It was celebration galore in Ebenebe town in Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra state following the donation of 2-bedroom bungalow to widow, Mrs. Philomena Ubaka, a widow by a philanthropist, Mr. Arnold Chukwuebuka Ekweoba.

Mrs. Ubaka had until now been living with her children in a deplorable thatched hut until hope shone on her in 2017 when an NGO, ‘Restore a Radiant Smile Foundation’ met with her in one of their outreaches.

Handing over the key to Mrs. Ubaka on Friday, the benefactor and CEO, Arnold and Associates, a Real estate and construction firm, revealed that he had never met the woman until the day of the handover. In his words, “A Foundation approached me with the woman’s story sometime last year. I was moved to tears and instantly ministered to by the Holy Spirit to become an instrument of joy to this unknown woman. Immediately, I accepted the request and approved the construction of a befitting two-bedroom bungalow for the woman and her children.

“What we are doing here today is a divine call. I derive motivation in impacting lives positively. I have never met this family in my life and I’m grateful to God for using me to elevate their standard of living. Like I said earlier, this is a divine mandate and as the spirit directs, we would continue replicating these humanitarian efforts”.

Earlier in his remark during a courtesy call at his palace, the traditional ruler of Ebenebe Community, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Chris Emeka Nnaegbuna, described the benefactor’s gesture as uncommon. While appreciating Mr. Ekweoba, Igwe Nnaegbuna prayed to God to bless and elevate him to enviable heights.

The visibly elated Mrs. Ubaka was drowned in tears of joy as she danced alongside friends and well-wishers. Speaking to the Press, the widow who was dumbfounded showered praises and blessings on Mr. Ekweoba. “Today, I strongly re-affirm my belief in God. No time is late for God to bless anybody. Today, I am a living witness of God’s Miracle. I am short of words and all I can say is that God who remembers the widow will never forsake Mr. Arnold, his friends, and family.”

Also speaking, the facilitator of the project and partner with the ‘Restore a Radiant Smile Foundation’, Mr. Victor Ugwoegbu described the day’s event as fulfilling. According to him, “My partner, Mr. Victor Chinyeaka, and I were moved to tears seeing the deplorable state of the woman’s shelter during one of our outreaches in the state in 2017. We couldn’t believe that a human being will be sheltered in such a place. We didn’t have the wherewithal but we prayed God to grant us the opportunity to bring succor to this woman and her family. It became a burden and in mid-2020, I approached Mr. Arnold with the request and he instantly assured me that he would take up the project. Barely six months down the line, here we are. I cannot thank the benefactor enough. He is a young man whose love for humanity is unparalleled. I remain grateful and loyal to him”.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman, Umudiaba Kindred, Umuajana Village, Ebenebe, Mr. Maxwell Nnamso, and the widow’s son, Arinze Ubaka expressed gratitude to Mr. Ekweoba for becoming an instrument of God’s blessing to the family.

Isiokwe community, a hilly community of Akama-Oghe is situated in Ezeagu L.G.A of Enugu state, South-Eastern part of Nigeria.
For decades, this community unlike other neighboring towns had been cut-off from the national grid as termites ate up the wooden electricity poles and ever since the community could not afford to fix the damages. To survive especially during festivities, the community members connect cables to other villages through the bushes. Despite appeals to relevant authorities for aid, all fell on deaf ears.
Appalled by the sufferings of his people and sheer determination to bring succor to the community, Professor Stan Udedi, a professor of Bio-Chemistry from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka took the burden on himself to reconnect the community back to the national grid.
Professor Udedi and Dean, Student Affairs in UNIZIK swung into action, seeking and mobilizing support from friends, colleagues from the state and beyond. The efforts paid-off recently as the community trooped en masse recently for the commissioning of the electricity project.

Describing Professor Udedi and former student of his as a mobilizer, Prof. Ezeonu equally commended all who partnered with Udedi to put smiles on the faces of the community members. He further averred that the sponsor has shown the true Igbo spirit of resilience and determination to achieve a lot and not waiting for Government’s intervention.

Counting it all joy, the sponsor explained that the issue of darkness had brought untold hardship to the community for over 37 years. In his words, “Ugwu Isiokwe community situates on hills and in valleys and this negatively affect the living conditions of the people. The lack of power until now made matters worse. The event of today renews hope for greater output and productivity by the people.

We are committed to continued community development and we will effectively put our resources for greater exploit in the future”. He expressed deep gratitude to the prompt financial and technical support of his partners. “I am highly indebted to his Excellency, Sen. Ike Ekweremmadu, the Deputy Senate President, Hon. Nairaland / General / 2019: MASSOB Lambasts APGA For Denying Ojukwu’s Wife Senatorial Ticket by Frankdotcom: 8:46am On Oct 06, 2018
Ralph Uwazuruike, Leader, Movement of the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has criticised the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) over the party’s recent primaries in Anambra.

Mr Uwazuruike told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri on Friday that APGA was undemocratic in the conduct of the Anambra South senatorial primaries in which Bianca Ojukwu lost.

Mrs Ojukwu, wife of the former Igbo leader, Odumegwu Ojukwu, lost the contest for the Anambra south senatorial seat to Nicolas Ukachukwu.
However, the APGA National Publicity Secretary, Ifeatu Okoye, said the party was very democratic during the conduct of the primaries and had remained focused.

According to Mr Uwazuruike, APGA which was formed and nurtured by late Ojukwu in the interest of the Igbos, had derailed, been hijacked by a cabal and become a money making tool for new members.

“APGA wants to use late Ojukwu’s name and reputation to win election but they don’t want any member of his family to be part of the party.
“It is a great injustice for not giving Bianca Ojukwu automatic ticket for the election and they have meted injustice to the widow,” he said.
Mr Uwazurike said Ojukwu’s son also contested for the House of Representative seat in the state and was not supported by the party.

“APGA can’t win election in 2019 because they have derailed from its symbol and the only time it won election in Nigeria was when I and my followers participated fully.

“Now that they don’t want any member of late Ojukwu to be part of them, I will not support the party in 2019,’’ he said.

The party’s national publicity secretary said APGA had not derailed but was following due process, adding it would win elections more than ever.
Mr Okoye further said the party had constituted a panel to look into what played out in the primaries in which Mrs Ojukwu lost.

Nairaland / General / Press Statement: The Rape Of Internal Democracy In APGA by Frankdotcom: 11:38am On Oct 05, 2018
Fiendish! Nefarious! Debilitating!

Any true APGA faithful that came to Ekwulobia stadium, the venue of the Anambra south APGA primary elections being the 3rd October 2018, would testify to all I'm about to pen down with a dolorous heart for it's a shame and a spite to the very foundation upon which APGA was laid on.

At the early hours of the morning, PIU conveyed about 200 thugs in about seven buses and occupied the venue, they were singing half-ass praises and chanting war songs on how to attack Amb Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, we were safe not till Bernard Nwanya the S.A to the Governor, Amb Adichie Izuchukwu SSA media to PIU and there full entourage arrived, they were able to recognise most of us as we took on cover, the whole thugs were already on delegate tags, how it got to their possession, no one knows!

PIU made a whole lot of threats on how to ensure they disrupt the process and favour Nicholas Ukachukwu, this gobshite granted the men of press interview as he was prepared for the worst already, what is simply playing out as at then was the enemy of my enemy is my friend, the plan was well perfected.

The able commissioner and the abled men of the DSS were able to drive PIU and his thugs away, they used the fire brigade approach, canister was shut in the air, an innocent child died due to stampeding, while other thugs took to hills, truly they ran, but their bus was still parked at the venue, they are fully on ground to destabilize the process, RIP to our beloved child, the Almighty God will fight your cause.

The most pitiful thing wasn't the huge presence of thugs, hired killers, brut force but the modus operandi of which this thugs carried out their nefarious activities aided by some security personnel.

The electoral officers arrived Ekwulobia at 5:43p.m, the whole adhoc delegates and thugs assembled in front of the Stadium gate, they were calling the list and clearing them as they entered inside the stadium for the voting proper, it was all peaceful as the thugs sent for this ugly game came to play out their part, they started breaking bottles and throwing sachet water to the huge crowd gathered, I was upstairs and observed how a police man(name withheld) perfected the grand plan, he brought out a canister and shut it to the crowd several times, it was a tear gas, the delegates were scattered a whole lot of old men and women injured, when the real delegates scattered, I also was upstairs and saw how they moved Nicholas Ukachukwu's boys into the stadium without accreditation, they were up to fifty boys, they rushed in and the security personnel did not resist them in anyway, it was a planned deal, something of the Old PDP style.

All fled, but within some minutes they started coming back to the muster point, the plan has been achieved, then they continued with the name calling, most of the real APGA delegates has already been scared off, only few of the men who were ready to shun evil eyeball to eyeball remained, no real party man was able to be identified for all were fully PDP members, so the main aim was to disfranchise the real APGA delegates and give edge to Nicholas Ukachukwu PDPapga delegates to cast their votes, some of us came back and insisted some LGA should be recalled, that they did, and some of the real delegates got in too and were accredited too.

How they were sharing $100 in the field was glaring also, something that was strictly warned afore hand, no money sharing in the venue of the primaries, but that should not have been my problem, but they were identifying with the smuggled delegates ensuring they gave them $100 in other to vote against Amb Bianca Ojukwu.

Team IBOM gathered this few facts in general:

1. High conspiracies, thuggery, presence of high killers, rigging with the aid of some compromised security personnel, threats to human lives and property, gross misconduct marred with violence, and other social vices.

2. The total number of votes casted is greater than the accredited voters.

3. The elections was held at very late hours of the night which is a threat to human life.

4. The APGA delegates were disfranchised through violence and all fled to their various destination.

This would be acceptable to any other political party, but not in our own APGA! There was no election in Anambra south, it was a show off violence and intimidation, we are looking forward for a new date were free and fair primaries would be conducted so the rightful candidate will emerge with an emboldened heart.

Thanks...

Team Bianca 2019.

Nairaland / General / Umu Idemmili, Reality 2019 Is A Go! by Frankdotcom: 10:16pm On Sep 30, 2018
In a few hours, the future of Idemmili lying in the hands of party delegates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance will be determined. It is imperative to state that *Reality 2019* is like a force that any well-meaning delegate cannot afford not to join.

Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi has shown enormous capacity and willingness like the proverbial Moses, to take the people of Idemmili to the land flowing with milk and honey.

We remain optimistic that the journey to the Green chambers for Reality 2019 would be officially set to roll from Tuesday.

The people of Idemmili have yearned for quality representation, an aspiration that had eluded them following the daylight robbery that greeted the 2015 elections by agents of political mischief who held sway then.

Umu Idemmili, your cries of quality representation, access to dividends of democracy and a courageous voice have been heard and the journey towards the actualization of your yearnings and aspirations is gradually becoming lucid.

Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi, despite the political travails that befell him, has remained steadfast, dogged, loyal, accessible and shown uncommon resolve to the growth, progress and development of Idemmili North and South Federal Constituency.

Reality 2019 is the surest movement that every well-meaning Nwa Idemmili should identify with. This is a movement driven by passion, unparalleled determination, courage and sheer commitment to the emancipation of the biggest Federal Constituency in South-Eastern Nigeria.

The years of locust is gone, it is about time we joined the drive to create this positive impact that would stand the test of time; a movement we would all be glad to have contributed our quota.

I repeat...
REALITY 2019 is a Go!!!

Nairaland / General / 2019: Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi Promises Quality Representation by Frankdotcom: 8:13am On Sep 14, 2018
By Okechukwu Mmadubugwu

One of the conspicuous brain behind the popular 21/21 landslide victory of the Anambra state Governor, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano at the last gubernatorial election in the state, Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi has officially declared his intention to serve the people of Idemmili North and South Constituency at the green chambers.

Hon. Ibezi made his intention known to a mammoth crowd that besieged his country home at Ezimuku, Agbaja, Abatete. Ad midst the mammoth crowd include men and women with resounding and overwhelming influence at various hierarchies of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party and other admirers of his.

Equally conspicuous at the glamourous event was the distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic, representing the people of Anambra central senatorial district at the red chambers, Chief Dr. Victor Umeh and the Honourable member representing Anaocha constituency at the green chambers, Hon Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, among others.

Addressing the crowd, Sen. Umeh attested to the ingenuity, unparalleled hardwork and sheer vigour in carrying out assigned tasks of Hon. Ibezi which according to him was evident at the build up to the Governor’s resonating victory at the polls. The distinguished senator posited that Hon Ibezi has the requisite qualifications required for a better representation of the people at the green chambers. The former APGA National chairman recalled with bitterness the broaden daylight theft of Ibezi’s mandate in 2015 but remained ever optimistic that the stolen mandate would not just be recovered but the margin of recovery would be reverberating beyond the shores of the state. He called on Ndi Idemmili to vote Ibezi en masse in 2019 as he remains the right candidate to take the constituency to enviable pedestals.

Earlier in his declaration speech, Hon. Ibezi popularly called “Ochiagha” bemoaned the absence of dividends of democracy in Idemmili at the constituency level, this he ascribed to abysmal representation at the green chambers. Hon. Ibezi made a pact with Ndi Idemmili to be a voice, a friend and advocate for the people of Idemili, promising to ensure to the best of his ability that the promises on his manifesto would be executed to the very last.

Below is the full speech at his declaration:

“In the last 16 years, we have entrusted our hopes and dreams of a better and progressive representation in the hands of few persons, with the expectations that things would change for better. But as days grew into months, and months into years, nothing has really changed.

From the erosion sites at Uke – Ojoto road, to Ogbu Abatete, Ogidi and Obosi, nothing has really changed.

The Afor Oba – Express road has remained a death trap and power is still epileptic in Abacha. Year in, year out it is same of the same. Children from Akwu – Ukwu still fetch drinking water from Ose Akama and Ose Ekele rivers, when they could have portable water.

Our graduates in their numbers are still unemployed when they have voices that can vouch for and recommend them.

The businesses of our rural women have remained stagnant, when micro loans could have done the magic.

There’s no doubt that Idemili has been short changed in terms of democratic representation.

But there is still hope that help is on the way.

Chinedu, the Vulcanizer at Afor Nkpor has not lost hope that we can make any difference even after waiting for many years.

Enenwa, who runs a poultry farm at Ideani still believes that he could still get a micro loan to grow his business from producing 15 crates of egg to 50 crates of egg a day.

Mama Nkiru still has hope that her income can still grow from 10k to 50k a month, if night markets would be introduced at Eke Umuoji Market.

Just like Chinedu, Enenwa, Mama Nkiru and many others, I am more hopeful now that our dreams are closer to reality than ever before.

Umunnem, I am ready to offer my service for the realization of this hope; the emancipation of the largest federal constituency in South East of Nigeria.

My journey to the Federal House of Representatives on behalf of Idemili North and South Federal Constituency shall not only bring us effective representation and a strong voice, it will also bring us Infrastructural Development, Women Empowerment, create employment opportunities for us, a plan for our youths and projects for each of the 17 communities in Idemili North and South LGAs.

My representation shall rekindle hope for Enenwa, Mama Nkiru, Chinedu and every Idemili son and daughter.

Together, we shall build an Idemili where we will collectively decide how our constituency allocations will be utilized; an Idemili where Town hall meetings are not once in four years but twice in a year; an Idemili where our graduates are recommended for high profile jobs and empowerment programs are created for our Women and youths; an Idemili where our students do not worry about tuition fees because there is a bursary scheme that covers that; an Idemili where our representative is a close friend and not an August visitor; an Idemili where there is effective, sincere and genuine representation of our interests.

Umunnem, in the coming weeks, the times shall get tougher, and I will need your support, because I cannot do this alone.

While I offer my service for an impactful representation and fruitful realities for Umu Idemili, I want you by my side. I urge you to remain steadfast and unshaken in your support.

Today, as I declare to run for House of Representatives, Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, I make a pact with every son and daughter of Idemili that I, Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi will be a voice, a friend and advocate for the people of Idemili and I will ensure to the best of my ability that the promises on my manifesto would be met.

Join me, let us make our dreams for Idemili, a fruitful Reality.

Arise because help is finally on the way.”

Nairaland / General / UNIZIK Management Dismisses Trending News About VC As Distorted Information by Frankdotcom: 11:17am On Dec 02, 2017
The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has debunked the news making the rounds where the Vice Chancellor was alleged to have said that more than 40% of staff of the university spend government time watching illicit movies in their various offices  while the job for which they are employed suffer gross neglect .

The story which has been making the rounds was first published by the INDEPENDENT newspaper.

The report had it that the VC stated that as an ICT-compliant person , he was able to monitor the goings-on in all the offices in the university from his own network . According to the report, He said when he got the report of the trend and equally discovered that some people will sit in the office , only to watch illicit movies and home videos during office hours , he took a decision to curb it by censoring internet services in the university from his office.

In a press statement from the Director of Information and Public Relations officer of the University, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu made available to www.gistafricah.com, the university revealed what transpired at the Senate meeting where the statement from the VC was alleged to have come from.

The Press statement reads, "In the course of discussion generally about staff productivity in the last Senate meeting, the VIce Chancellor including other Senators condemned truancy, lateness, watching of 'inappropriate' videos including home movies during office hours.

"No specific mention of any percentage of those watching these movies was made. And also no such word as 'pornography' was mentioned. As a result the Vice Chancellor added that measures were being taken to monitor and make sure that staff do the work for which they get paid.

"It is therefore a complete surprise that some persons are peddling falsehood in the media to achieve a hidden objective. While the University appreciates the right of persons to spread information, distorted information could be injurious to society's wellbeing.

"We therefore implore all our staff, students, alumni, and friends of our great University to please ignore this current machinations of mischief makers whose only aim is to tarnish the hard earned reputation of our University".

Nairaland / General / Decomposed Body Of The Lady Found In A Room In Awka Identified As UNN Graduate by Frankdotcom: 7:32am On Aug 16, 2017
The internet earlier this week was awash with the strange death of a lady in one of the lodges at Ifite Awka, Anambra State where majority of the students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka reside.

The deceased body trapped inside her room, was found already decomposing in what seemed like an electric shock as her unclad body was seen close to one of the power source in her room.

According to the Director of Public Relations of the University, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, preliminary investigations revealed the true identity of the deceased. Her name was given as Crystal Ogbunando and a native of Nimo.

According to Ojukwu, further investigations revealed that "the deceased was a Pharmacy graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and had just completed her internship at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Teaching Hospital, Awka."

According to a lodge mate, her whereabouts became suspicious after several days of absence which led the lodge mates to besiege the room which had already become a centre of attraction for big flies. The occasional smell that oozed out of the room made lodge mates to force the door open and got the shocker of their lives.

Anambra State gubernatorial aspirant for the 2017 election and National Auditor of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Dr George Moghalu, has berated politicians who are behind rumours of his dropping out from the race.

Autos / Innoson Gives IVM G5, Salary For Life To Man Who Prophesied His Car Business by Frankdotcom: 9:03am On Jul 24, 2017
By Cornel Osigwe

Innoson Gives Out Brand New IVM G5 and Salary For Life To The Man Who Prophesied About His Vehicle Manufacturing In 1979.

Last Saturday, July 22nd the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR gave out a brand new Innoson IVM G5 to Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe popularly known as Osabros who prophesied to him in 1979 that he would be the first man in Africa to manufacture vehicles and sell to different African countries.

The prophecy was given at the period the then Innocent Chukwuma could not boast of a car, talk less of manufacturing one. According to Dr Chukwuma during the presentation of the car, he recalled on how Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe all the way from Kano blocked him at the front of his house early in the morning and told him he has a message for him.

Mr Osakwe went on to narrate a dream he had about him, how he saw in the said dream his vehicle manufacturing company known as CAP PLC. "He told me that CAP means Chukwuma Automobile Productions. Immediately he said that I laughed him to scorn and left him immediately.

After some years when I established the first motorcycle assembly plant, he came back again to remind me of that dream again and told me that I will still manufacture vehicles. Of a truth it was after I had established my vehicle manufacturing plant that I realized that his prophecy was real.

This week I signed an MOU with TAXI PLUS all the way from MALI to supply about 400 vehicles to Mali and I then recalled that Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe prophesied as far back as 1979 that I will be the first indigenous vehicle manufacturing company to sell cars to other African countries. I shed tears of joy and said this can only be the hand of God. That is why I have invited him to let him know that his prophecy has been fulfilled. I have decided to give him a Brand new IVM G5 SUV and pay him a monthly salary for life. I want to encourage him to keep serving His God".

The presentation of the vehicle was witnessed by the members of Osakwe's family, friends and relatives. The presentation was done by Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, (Gabros), immediate elder brother to Dr Innocent Chukwuma who equally was a witness in 1979 when the prophecy was given.

In his vote of thanks, Mr Osakwe expressed gratitude to Dr Chukwuma and further told him that more great things will still happen to him and IVM. He prayed for Dr Chukwuma and told him that the Grace of God that has brought him this far will continue to see him through till IVM becomes a dominant force in Africa.

Politics / The Kaduna Declaration Conundrum By Chief Patrick Chidolue by Frankdotcom: 9:55am On Jun 10, 2017
In the wake of the ethnic intolerance that has been holding sway in recent times in our country, I think being reticent will not do my conscience any good. Hence my stance on the Kaduna Declaration:

As a successful businessman that has traversed the entire regions of this country, I have come to learn that some, if not a lot of Nigerian youths, enjoy ethnic bigotry a great deal. I cannot tell whether this is as a result of idleness – idleness characterizes unemployment, and a good number of young Nigerians are unemployed. The baffling aspect of it all is that whereas a lot of Nigerians from various ethnic groups disagree strongly with one another in the social media, in reality, there are lots of friendships, work relationships, religious bonding and marital relations between all these ethnicities. In reality, there is genuine love and affection shared between Nigerians irrespective of ethnicities.

I am not going to take sides with any fraction; be it IPOB, AREWA Youths, Oduduwa or any ethnic representative group. But I am going to strongly advise the average Nigerian youth to be wary of violence. Tread carefully in political issues because there are lots of banana peels littered everywhere. Many have slipped and fallen heavily in the past. The nation is yet to fully recover from such a fall. Be more logical than emotional.

Always take a moment, or perhaps, seek elderly counsel before any action is taken. Constant dialogue, healthy debates and intellectual revolution can go a long way in effecting whatever change we seek other than confrontation and unnecessary displays of braggadocio. This is because, Nigeria to be or not to be, lies in your hands.

Then to the elders, please desist from fanning the embers of hate in the minds of the young. We witnessed and indeed understand the sad history of our nation.
Then to the bone of contention: The Kaduna Declaration, I reckon came as a reaction of the Northern youths to the incessant clamour for secession by IPOB and MASSOB; and the cry for the reconstruction of the country from other elements of the Southern part of the nation.

The issue in question is this: very many Nigerians are becoming alive to the fact that the present structure of the country is not working at the optimum that it should, and continuing with it is tantamount to running round a circle. Whenever there is an agitation in the South east, the objective is to voice out that the region is being marginalized or unjustly treated in a federation that they are part of. Whenever there is an agitation in the Niger Delta region, it is still to drive home the same point. Some voices are rising from the South West and parts of the north singing the same hymn.

It suffices then to conclude that the structure of this nation is an issue and should be looked into. Simply put, every well-meaning Nigerian craves a Nigeria where equity, good conscience and fairness prevail. A Nigeria where there will be a level playing field. A Nigeria where none of its citizen from any part of the country will feel like a second class citizen. And truth be told, the chances that these will materialize in this presently-structured Nigeria are slim to non-existent. Playing the ostrich by the government in the face of all these is not going to douse these tensions. It will instead make the already red flames blue. My humble stance.

Nairaland / General / Corpers Serving In Buhari's Hometown Daura Lament As Thieves Go On Rampage by Frankdotcom: 8:52am On Apr 30, 2017
Corps members serving in Daura, Katsina state, the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari are currently living in perpetual fear over the influx of thefts which has continued unabated for months.

Barely a month after thieves invaded the corpers lodge at the Government Day Secondary school Daura catering away phones, laptops etc, the dare devils struck again on Wednesday catering away gadgets in the same lodge.

Recalling the past incident, the lodge president stated that the corps members woke at exactly 3:48am to discover to their chagrin that their phones, laptops, power banks and other accessories were missing.

When one of the corps members raised alarm over his missing gadgets, others rose to discover theirs missing as well. This induced panic as they all set out that night in a bid to unravel the sudden disappearance of their gadgets.

They quickly ran to complain to the security man attached to the school but to their consternation, he feigned ignorance over seeing anyone within the school and hurriedly went back to sleep.

However, they noticed cracks and holes at some points in the school wall where the perpetrators could have sneaked in and out.

According to some of the lodge mates, it's believed the thieves could have used some form of charm as it was baffling on how they could have robbed 5 rooms without being caught. They entered the lodge through the window protector which they tamper with to allow penetration. The perpetrators even had the luxury of time to detach the sim cards from the phones they stole and left it at the entrance of the lodge.

The list of items stolen include phones, laptops, charges, power banks, all worth over eight hundred thousand naira (N800,000).

The case was reported to the Daura divisional police command. The DSP promised to fish out the perpetrators of the act while promising enhanced security for the corps members.

The corps members later took the case to the Emir's palace. The Emir, HRH Umar Faruk Umar promised to give the corps members half of the amount towards the end of March. When the corps members went back on Monday, the palace official handling the matter, told the Corpers that they were facing financial challenges and as such they should wait till the end of the month April.
The corpers went back on Monday and were disappointed with discordant tales from the palace officials.

This infuriated the corps members as some of them are due to pass out next week.

A corps member, who pleaded anonymity disclosed that this case of mid night thefts has become a recurring decimal for quite some time now. "These thieves move around in the dead of the night with their charms. Once they apply their charms, they whole people in the particular environment sleeps off like dead bodies to allow them perpetuate their evil act", He said.

Also, two staff in the nearby school, Government Girls Secondary school Daura have become victims too as their properties which include plasma television, phones were carted away in like manner.

Corps members have called on the security agencies and stake holders to make the matter of their security a priority. They further appealed to the Emir to fulfil his promise to the corps members who earn peanuts in the course of their service. Victor Esowe a corps member said, " We can't suffer to get these gadgets to make life easy in the course of our service to our fatherland only for the people of the community to treat us with contempt."
