This will be my plan if i were to study computer related course in '"London"

1. I must learn python and SQL in Nigeria before leaving for London

2. I must apply for a 2yr course to cushion pressure

3. I must identify and work with a python programming firm or work in a python tutorial center FREE for 2months

4. I must study my class work excellently

5. In the first year, i must deprive myself comfort , work less than 20hrs and study more than 8hrs perday

6. I will look haggard and hungry for the first year unless i have a wife who will be working for us

7. during summer holiday in my 1st year, i will get a low paying job in a tech field and may work more than 8hrs/day or , i will register to learn kali an script-bashing

8. In my second year i will use what i learnt in my first year to write CIsco CyberOps Associate
CCNP Security
Certified Ethical Hacking Certification
GIAC Penetration Tester
Offensive Security Certified Professional
assuming i am doing cyber sec

9. 4 months before my mcs cert, i will use all i know and experience to file for jobs in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia

After these, i will reign over the cyber space and teach my children.

Why can't you go for MSc Computer science or Advanced computer science. Going for specific course like data science, cyber security etc automatically means you have put yourself in one single area but with computer science, you can move from one area to another base on your skills since it's wide. My suggestion because I also read CSC.

Computer science is a great course! but this is my view about CSc. --- Jack of all trade and master of non in this new world, area of specialization is keen!

i dont mean to attack you or your course... i love it also and i have scores of friends who did it in the UK

I have passion for both but I want the best one that have good ROI later.

Its not good to place your passion on ROI .....like its a trade away.
Place your passion on the future you want your generations and linage to be like.....

go for cyber sec if you can but make sure you use this opportunity to learn basic things first before you resume. eg python, SQL ,Django, numpy, pandas, geoplots, machine learning. All this will be as easy as anything if you learn and know python basics first.

Please I need your candid advice (justwise, lagosismyhome, hosey, cyberknight, LaaJiblik). Which is the best to study in the UK between MSc Data science and MSc Cyber security.

Note: I hold a Btech in Computer Science

Well, i will strongly advice you to go for cyber-security . Comparing to Data Sc. Cyber security is one side that fits all approach . In data science, you will probably learn a programming language for data analysis e.g python and you will learn database quires e.g. SQL.... and you may learn little or no security for your data.

But in cyber-sec and if you want to excel in any IT field especially cyber sec, you must know or learn most thing about data Sc. eg, python. SQL...and deep security.

A cyber sec expert have 80% chances of standing in place of Data analyst and Data analyst has maybe not upto 5% to stand in for cyber sec expert.

But both courses are dope . My opinion anyway.

London ‘Campus’ is a mass of Shit.
The 2 year Masters in Project Management is the shittest.
If you doubt me, ask anyone that went there.

Bro, what was your general experience ? and why no guarantee job? Some people may have applied for the school and i hope you can lay-bare your experiences just so we know what to expect , pleases . throw more light.

Bro, what course did you study @Northumbria uni? and what was your general experience ? and why no guarantee job? Some people may have applied for the school and i hope you can lay-bare your experiences just so we know what to expect , pleases . throw more light.

That’s fair. I was only wondering if September 2020 is an appropriate time to study abroad, as the world economy will be at its recovery state after the virus. Maybe 2021 may be promising for students.

This is the most appropriate time---

1. There will be alot of vacancies towards the end of a one year program because many companies wants to comeback to glory and as such will need more hands.

2. UK govt will likely bailout business , so the effect of job scarcity will not be felt from Spt.

3. Staying in Nigeria is the biggest risk and a trap. Naira may be worse by JAN 2021 . This will make you 3m to worth 2m in pounds.

In my opinion, September is the best..........Naira will bleed.

An irregular transaction into that account could lead to questionable scenario, make sure that you are not thinking about 'building' an account just for visa application then return the money when the visa is out.

This fellow is reminding you the best practice....it just simple , for your own good , in case of emergency. However we must do what we can!

This is shameful. This thread will do without both of you for sometime . Disappointed
there is absolutely nothing to get disappointed about, are you not learning from the disagreements? some days must be like this........this will make people to be sure of what they want to post before they do....... or simply attribute what they wrote as their personal opinion......

There is nothing like disappointment here!!!! just air your own part of the argument like they did.

Good picture painted there. Have any idea how much ££££ it will cost to obtain those certifications?

All of them, including their training and certification will not cost more than 3m(naira).

all will cost 2.8m(naira) the gain will gene-rationally over-worth the cost

These maybe more important than ur degree

Going for a two year program isn’t a waste of time, if you start looking for placements with a GOOD CV the moment you start your program it won’t be difficult getting one. And as the other guy mentioned, attend job fairs and all.
And besides some schools only collect just a few pounds for the placement year (like £850 or more)

Well , going for 2yrs program may be a waste of time if doing menial jobs is the reason but if upgrading yourself is the reason then you are good to go . Here are my reasons.
1. During your first year, you may like to focus more on your studies without learning extraordinarily

2. For IT students, the 2nd year maybe used to read and sit for international certifications to add to your CV e.gCIsco CyberOps Associate
CCNP Security
CCIE Security
Certified Ethical Hacking Certification
GIAC Penetration Tester
Offensive Security Certified Professional
The first 2 can be written in the pace of 6 months
where the last 3 can be written in a space of one month . It's like(using one stone to kill birds)
3. As an IT student, 2 years even without seeing where to do intern ..... is an advantage to learn and you may even decide to leave uk after your studies if you wish.

this is part of my view for 2years option

my view and what i would do if i were in your shoes..............
I would meet my conditions and push for a deferral.
Im sure you would be considered first cos you have an offer already

Note that a lot of people have already pushed in their applications, once you send yours, you are most likely going to be on queue and nobody knows what is going to happen next

thank you whuzmhan , i have taken your suggestion. God bless you

This is my situation now:
I applied for may and the Northumbria university for msc. Cyber security and they gave me a conditional offer but i want do deffer it for September to be eligible for the Postgraduate work permit.

Meanwhile, i waited for response from them on the my may offer which took upto 3 weeks. While waiting I reapplied again for September in same school and same course.

Should I meet the conditions of the may offer and differ it for September? Or
Should i wait for the September offer and fulfill the conditions ?

Which is better ?
Please give me your view....

I got a conditional offer from Northumbria university London. And they are asking of my waec transcript.

Can i send a scan copy of my original waec result? Will this serve in place of the transcript?

Admin, Great NOUN students forum
Good morning everyone, after a brief meeting with model study centre director and Vice Counsellor, today I came to realise that the school is working really hard for our favour, the school has also promised to add marks to our previous exams, he also warned against students making payments through the new portal and made it clear that there won't b any refunds if any issues comes up after payments he stressed that we should remain calm as things gradually gets back on track...Pls note that the new portal will officially commence 2week of February, for the main time let's relax and watch...

ANTHONY, you are doing a great job. keep it up

Hello, I wish to apply for NOUN, and I have some questions. 1.apart from the compulsory fees, what other payments is required?
2.how often will I need to go to my study centre?
3.isn't it one course that one is supposed to take, have seen some posts that are making me confused.
I'd appr
eciate your clear and direct answers

1. course registration and exam registration fee only

2. as often as you can if need be or by default, you can visit your study centre four times in a semester ---- during your documentation, orientation , matric and exam period.

3. Yes ,one is expected to take one course in a program

Thank you for asking the questions.

I tried calling the number they advertised there and they will always send me a message that they can't take calls now. This is becoming suspicious..... But how can a study centre not know? Since today, they have been using it for students.... But am begging to suspect something...

How can this be a fraud? They have been using it in my study centre, that was why I shared it.
