My sincere apologies for my absence. Just fresh from a five day ban. Seriously, is there a way to appeal a ban on this forum because this one was really not fair to me. Someone said something and I replied back and got a ban for my troubles while the other party smiled away without even a yellow card. Its all good tho

grandiose4ever:
However some very choking rules exist in Covenant University that NUC has a matter of urgency must clamp on. Why? CU serves as a model to private universities and if all religious schools adopt the CU model we would have a dangerous situation on our hand in the next few years.

Note: These rules/experiences do not apply to Covenant university Post Graduates. CU is unarguably the best place to run PG studies. But be very certain if you are going for BSc.

THE RULES

1) All students/lecturers irrespective of religious affiliations must go to church. Punishment for chapel default ranges from suspension to expulsion. It is unclear if there are punitive measures for lecturers.
b) Not bringing bible to church is also sanctionable.

2) No student is allowed to use SIM enabled devices(Phones)

3) Islamic holidays are disregarded - Usually almost all Christian schools in Nigeria acknowledge islamic holidays and allow their community to rest or even travel to felicitate with their loved. But CU folks are denied this priviledge enacted and backed by both the constutution and presidential order.

4) Christian holidays are disregarded - Easter comes and CU will force everyone to attend youth alive by winners chapel. Folks are prevented from going home. Punishment for violation is suspension to expulsion.

5) Exeat Required To Exit Campus: Students are required to make detailed application to student affairs before granted right to leave campus. At certain times people have been denied exeat for weddings of siblings, visiting sick parents etc.

6) A War Against Traditional Wears And Songs:
The student handbook doesn't prevent this but there has been an halt in student being allowed to wear traditionals. Traditional songs in church have also come under attack.

7) No Peaceful Protest Allowed - Punishment ranges from suspension to expulsion.

cool Sexual Activities Outside Campus Are Sanctioned.

9) The University handbook permits the university the right to invade your privacy
and search your belongings or devices for incriminating materials such as Porn or past sexual escapades.

10) Secular songs, "ungodly music", are banned in Covenant, Parties are also banned with the exception of picnics which is often monitored by
SDC.

1, 3,4,5,7,8,9 are potentially in violation of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria .
you think this laws are abhorrent? Go to Madonna and the rules you'll hear would make your ears tingle

Nairaland General › Re: Share Your Worst Experience In A Prayer House by frbona(op):
. It all began with three tablets of Tramadol. I was home at my Aunty's place on a project exit from the private institution I attended. The duration was one day but since I was a serving school functionary, I knew how to bend the rules in my favour and stretch that one day to two weeks without a single penalty or punishment. I happen to be a teetotal. Due to the bad experiences I've had with alcohol the few times I tried with little quantities, I settled for an absolute abstinence from drinking and all forms of Alcoholic beverages. So, within the confines of my Aunty's domicile I sought ways to let off steam and cool my heels. What better way to do so than to abuse painkillers, or so I thought. I had popped a pill in the past out of sheer curiosity and peer pressure. That feeling of numbness and nerve relaxation wasn't bad I must admit. But, as it is with drugs, therein lies the Danger. It sucks you into Addiction and leaves you wrecked until a certain grace finds you. So there I was, lying in bed, expecting those feelings to creep in. And it did, but for a while as the Numbness gave way to a fever and a high temperature. From taking one pill to popping three, what else was I expecting. I wasn't hungry nor thirsty as food lost its appeal. If I tried taking anything I ended up throwing up until the effects of the drugs, which normally lasted exactly 24hours for me, wears off. I knew my Aunty should never meet me this way for it would spell disaster. She did find me that way and...........

This is something I've had bottled up in me since the year 2015 and I have been searching for some means to air it out. I firmly and strongly believe this is the right medium. So sit back, grab a popcorn and your bottle of sobo, as I recount the events that spanned three days which has scarred me for as long as I can remember.
Politics › Re: An Exhortation To Free Akwa Ibom From The Hand Of A Deceiver by frbona: 2:04pm On Sep 11, 2018
two19ng:
I have given much thought to all the matters that have unfolded itself over the last three and a half years up till now. And I have asked myself whether the time is right for Akwa Ibom to greet a new Governor.
To offer to a skilful and prudent man the prospect of forging a new government that will champion only the causes of the people and bring honour to all Akwa Ibomite
So many things have come together that are favourable to a new governor that I believe there has never been a more auspicious time. The people of Israel had to be slaves in Egypt so that the qualities of Moses would come to the fore.
In the same way, that we may see the prowess of an Akwa Ibom Governor, it has been necessary for Akwa Ibom to be reduced to a state it is in its present – more enslaved than the Jews, deceived, flayed, plundered by her own leader and exposed to all manners of adversity.
How she prays to God to send someone to save her from the UDOMIC cruelty and hardship. How ardent and eager she is to follow a banner if only there is someone who will raise it high.
Akwa Ibom has only one hope and that hope is in your hands- Obong Nsima Ekere. With your fortune and prowess, saving Akwa Ibom will not be an insurmountable task if you keep before your eyes the examples of Moses, Jesus and even our president- Mohammadu Buhari.
There is a great spirit in the populace to support your noble cause for Governorship. You will not find supporters who are disloyal nor untrue once they are led by you.
This opportunity must be grasps – Akwa Ibom, after so many years must welcome its liberator. The love with which this land - that have suffered the blows of UDOMS deception will be boundless as will be their thirst for change, their iron loyalty, their devotion and selfless sacrifice.
All doors will be flung open. What populace would not embrace such a leader? What envy will oppose him? Which Akwa Ibomite will not love to be freed from the shackles of deception?
Your Excellency, Obong Nsima Ekere - We beg you today that you seize this matter with the kind of hope and spirit in which righteous tasks are ceased- so that Akwa Ibom shall be a noble beneath its banners and the words of our forbearer will come true – Akwa Ibom! The land of promise.
