NYSCRe: Marry Yourselves – DG Advises NYSC Members by freeman67: 11:10am On Jun 21, 2016
l am sure majority of us commenting here are not aware that there is a N250000 price money for corps members if they marry each other..That was even when we were collected N9800 allowee who know if it has even increased now.

That amount can start a small business before allowee stop coming. There is also a possibility of being retained in their PPA or being employed by NYSC itself. So the DG's advice is a good one. There is need to enhance national unity more than ever.

You must be outdated. he paid 4 moths of the 5months owed by your igala governor (Wada) to the civil servants of the state this week.
Whether you lie or try to tribalise/ethnicise the matter it won't change the truth. Yes wada an Igala man was bad and that is what created the vacuum that brought him in. Instead of him to try and win over the people especially Civil servants that is the engine room of every government by at least paying them the salary show he is different, he is trying to outdo Wada and Idris in Under performance.

people are happy he is a young governor but with his performance so far do you think that after if he continue that way and till the end of his tenure another young man will be gladly voted in?

he has not done anything to show that a young man could be a better leader and you are busy comparing him with Wada the worst governor of the regime he served in.
CelebritiesRe: Uche Jombo Blasts Wuraola Ogunwusi Over Her Speech On Gender Equality by freeman67: 9:10pm On Jun 18, 2016
I do not see any inequality between men and women except where women physical strength can not carry them around. As a person I have primary school mates that are women same with secondary and tertiary institution. I have sisters that went to same schools too. Majority of the Jobs in Nigeria as much as I know pay with grade level and not gender or sex. Even when women get to enjoy more holidays in the name of maternity leave. I know a govt worker ( a woman) that gave birth to three children in four years and in each of the Year she had six months maternity leave and in all the months she was earning the same salary as a man in her grade level in that office.

In military and paramilitary agencies women work in less risky units and department but still get the same pay and some in the risky and hazard prone units work mostly as administrative staff instead of being operative yet they all get the same pay.

As colleagues in the office going for lunch together the women hardly pay, paying for cab boarded together is seen as a man's responsibility yet they earn same salary. At home some women even earn more than their husbands but it is man that is meant to cater for the home. Some will never accept they have money even when the house is in need. They will only spend the money for their parents and siblings.

If you say politically women are at the disadvantage I will agree and that is because lots of them does not have the physical ability to withstand the violent politics played around here. infact some men avoid politics for same reason too...

So what equality are you clamoring for Madam Uche?

That your Dad should share in the Omugwo with your mum?

Anyone that comes here to recommend any dubious investment scheme gets an instant ban. Op should follow the advice of those that recommended Treasury bills or fixed deposit with any reputable commercial bank.
then you may need to check the poster above me because he is up-to something.... must the guy meet u first before you break down or explain the details of the plans you for him?

@op I believe by now you would have made up ur mind on one of the good suggestions above and invested. However even if you have not beware of people calling you to meet them. on no account should you allow any kobo from that money go out of your account except it's deducted for either Tbills or FD.
InvestmentRe: I Have 1.5m With Me That Belongs To My Bro by freeman67:
You don't have to go for any white elephant investment. Do not go for any investment that will make you loose the fund or that you would not be able to gather the money together when your brother needs it to avoid breach of trust.

Ignore all those people who will tell you to contact them privately to set up anything. So long as your money is not yours and it's kept with you in trust, all you need to do is to invest it in an investment that is almost risk free.

Treasury bills and Fixed deposit comes to mind. If you are very sure that your brother won't need that money before the next 4months then 3 months Tbills is the way to go. You can just walk into your bank next week Monday or Tuesday and request to invest in treasury bill. Be sure the money is deposited in your account in that bank. But note that you can't just terminate this investment till it matures in some banks and in other banks where you can, it will take more than 1 day and may also be sold at a loss.

However, if your brother may be needing it before that 4 months then you will have to go for fixed deposit because you would be able able to terminate it and get it same day but it's ROI is lesser than Treasury bills.

That is my line of business. I can give you guidelines.
I will like to read your advice too. Becos the way I see Nigeria lending/borrowing is not an easy thing.

Like how much money is required to venture into it on a small scale.. ?

What are the instrument you but in place to get back your money should there be default in payment.. ?

How do weigh the sincerity of a borrower before give him/her money...?

How do you get back your money in case of eventuality.. I.e death or transfer/relocation..?

What are the steps to take in making a legal business..?
BusinessRe: SMS Alert Charge: Is First Bank Stealing My Money? by freeman67: 2:27pm On May 29, 2016

I am a (NRN) Non Resident Nigerian customer. I did not sign up for ATM, i did not even sign up for Token device for online Transfer, at least it would be a miracle how money will fly out from my account when i did not request for a Token, coupled with the fact that i don't even have BVN because there is no BVN centre here in Ireland.

I did not request for SMS alert. I only signed up for internet banking just to monitor my account online and i requested for email alert only. But according to First Bank on their website, it is clearly stated that Email Alert is at no cost. See attached below. What do you think?
Somehow there is an SMS alert activated on your account if not they won't dare deduct in the name of SMS alert. Mayb you cant remember but I guess there is a number you used when opening the account if you are the SIM is still active you would av been seeing the alert.
Since you are not residing in Nigeria, you will have to mail them to deactivate the SMS alert. their contact Idea on their website is.

BusinessRe: SMS Alert Charge: Is First Bank Stealing My Money? by freeman67: 9:44am On May 29, 2016
All banks in Nigeria collect alert charges and it has been accepted as normal. In fact some even charge for birthday text sent to customers but if you are not okay with it all you need to do is to just walk into your bank and tell them you want to deactivate SMS alert on your account. I did same in Firstbank. it's only in stanbicibtc I wanted but couldn't because I saw a scary clause in the form I was meant to fill. So I try to Endure their weekly and monthly statement alert. Stanbicibtc don't make it accumulate they take the N4 immediately they send you alert. Diamond Bank deducted cumulative alert charge of About N1800 from my account early this year as alert charges for last year.

Be sure you do internet banking, have e-mail alert or an ATM card incase you may need to confirm your balance.

You will also need to keep those very close to your heart to avoid any unauthorized transaction taking place on your account and the bank shifting responsibility should it occur.

Pity that's the trend in most of our Nigerian bank these days.. Maybe they are Frustrated... I can't say.
They seems to enjoy "pushing" you from one person to another.

I had similar experience at a first bank branch the other. But one of their Elderly worker intervene .
I have had that experience countless time with many first Bank branches too... there will tell u that if you are not withdrawing more than 100k you should go and use the ATM even when customers have the right to use it or not and I have decided never to use their ATM again becos of an previous bad experiences. In fact In their Gwarimpa branch in Abuja at a period they were not even collecting deposits that is less than 100k cos they said there were renovating. No wonder GTB and upcoming Diamond Bank are getting populated by the day becos of their superb customer care.

If the account linked to the POS is not a personal but a company/corporate account then SLOT may actually be the one scamming and defrauding customers not the staff as it would be almost impossible for staff to get a share of the payment if directly paid to Slot's account via the POS terminal.
Nothing is impossible.... the staff can sell the fake as Original to customers then take the original brought in by their supplier elsewhere to sell.

country where Electricity distribution company staff (marketers) will inflate ur bill if u are well to do and threaten u with disconnection then after payment Liaise with cashier later with ur real consumption and collect their balance... Nothing is impossible

I just wonder why a private company will let a staff mar their reputation for his or her personal greed.

let's see how they'll deal with it.
BusinessRe: MUST READ : Why Gtbank Latest 737 Simple Mobile Banking Is A Beautiful Nonsense by freeman67: 10:40am On Apr 10, 2016
It's Not what you call it. I av heard about it and have been using it to recharge my phone since last year (2015) and it has been very convenient. In fact I almost forgot about it because I was to do a transfer this morning and was thinking of how to go about it before I stumbled on this your post.

Like every thing in life that banking method has it's advantages and disadvantages but it's advantages far more outweighs it's disadvantages.

Your ATM card is supposed to be personal and so Is your phone but your friend was just unfortunate. Just yesterday a friend was telling me a story of armed rubbers that attacked them on their way from Lagos to Abuja while taking a Nite Bus. The Armed Rubbers came with a POS machine, they collected all the debit cards with passengers on board with their pins. The POS was used to test the pin in order to be sure it is correct. my friend first of all tried to play pranks by giving them a fake pin and they played theirs by threatening to machete off his fingers.. no b person tell am be4 him give them the correct pin.. then they collected their phones too.

Do we now say the introduction of ATM machine is beautiful nonsense too..?

or maybe a person withdraw money from the counter and immediately robbers enters the bank and cart away with all... do we say the it's beautiful nonsense?

Bad things happen sometimes but blaming a very positive and effective innovation because of one unfortunate event is not the way to go. We should be thinking of to effectively keep away our debit card from our phones.
