I didn't ask for them to be withdrawn. I asked the question because I know from population figures I have seen that Kano state has one of the highest populations in Nigeria, at least that's what INEC told us.

From this huge population, 37 students emerged from a rigorously conducted selection exercise.
They were selected on merit, sent to Egypt on tax payers money and they have been finding it difficult to make the grades !!

Is there no university or college in Nigeria that offer nursing education where these people would've gone to at a cheaper cost?

In Nigeria, state fund is no body's money, it should be 'expended' according to the beret minister as they wish.

How much is being spent on each student to acquire such diploma/degree at the university in Egypt? I hope Egyptian government give them jobs with such performances otherwise it wouldn't be wise to spend so much, come back home 'mago magoly' secure jobs meant for better qualified and more competent people.

I believe the reason the present government of Kano state wanted to discontinue the funding was due to their poor performance. The school itself was pleading on their behalf because they needed the money and might lower the bar to make it easy for them.

It should've been the other way round with Ka I state government pleading and the school threatening to have them withdrawn.

If the selection exercise was carried out and the sponsorship given to candidates on merits, I believe there wouldn't have been allegations of poor academic performance.

Improved from what? Someone might have told them to buckle up and justify the tax payers money being spent on them.

That's 81% of the students struggling with the nursing program.

His Excellence Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is on emergency rescue mission to AlMonsoura University in Egypt.

Kwankwaso is intervenning in the plight of 37 Nursing Education students who risk repatriation by Kano State government under the pretense of paucity of funds and poor performance of the student.

The student who are in their third academic year of studies where sponsored under the Kano state scholarship scheme by the then administration of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Contrary to the report of poor academic performance, the university consultant in a letter addressed to kano State deputy governor (dated 15th-07-2017) describe that 30 out 37 student performance have improved and they should be allowed to continue their studies pointing out the school minimum requirement is 2.0 CGPA. Attached are the copiea of the letter and students results.

The current administration led by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have insisted in repatriating the student sponsored to study abroad due to lack available funds to further sustain the scholarship scheme.

This may not be unconnected with the present political dispute between Gov. Ganduje and his predecessor "Kwankwaso"

Kwankwaso might be paying the remaining school fees and housing allowances of the scholarship student with his own personal money.
