The NBS communications head also alleged that the NBS was in a bad state under the former statistician-general, which he described as worst performing.

“In my 30 years of service, he is the worst ever, and the youngest served statistician-general we ever had. Everything was crippled, not even light in the office. The money the government spent on NBS, we did not see anything,” he claimed.
PoliticsNBS Kicks As Ex-statistician General Faults New Employment Data by frog12(op): 10:52am On Aug 29, 2023
The former Statistician-General of Federation/ Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Yemi Kale, has said he resisted the urge to further change the country’s unemployment data-gathering methodology during his time as head of the statistics body.

He spoke barely a week after the NBS released a new data that put employment at 4.1 per cent. The agency had put unemployment at 33% in Q4 2020.

He noted that the committee in charge of reviewing the minimum number of work hours to count as employed felt one hour did not make sense because income generated within that time frame was not necessarily live-able.

He disclosed this on Arise TV’s Global Business Report on Monday morning.

He further stated that the income generated from 20 hours of work in Nigeria would equate to that made from working one hour in the US.

He opined that the most important point of data is give policymakers the tools they need to understand the problems, proffer solutions, and monitor the impact of those problems.

Kale said, “This is why I resisted (to change the unemployment-gathering methodology) for 10 years because it did not make any sense in terms of providing the information that our policymakers need. So the 20 hours was set because the committee that was set up, which included the ILO, presented their findings and they decided that one hour did not make sense because the income you will generate on an average from one hour’s work was not going to work.

Reacting to the ex-NBS boss’s comment, the Head of Communications and Public Relations Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, Wakili Ibrahim, said the new methodology was in line with international standards.

According to him, there are some Nigerians who earn from working for just one hour, and this set of Nigerians needs to be captured in the data.

He said, “The new methodology is internationally accepted. All our neighbouring countries in Africa are using the new methodology of one hour. When he was there it was 40 hours. Ask him (ex-NBS boss) why it was changed from 40 to 20 hours during his own time. Now, it is one hour.

“The world is changing. In high-tech countries, if you work for one hour, you can earn what somebody in a bank cannot earn in one year because of IT. Look at lecturers; a lecturer can go lecture for one or two hours, and they will pay him about N200,000 or N300,000 in one or two hours. So, what is the basis of ignoring those ones?

The NBS communications head also alleged that the NBS was in a bad state under the former statistician-general, which he described as worst performing.

“In my 30 years of service, he is the worst ever, and the youngest served statistician-general we ever had. Everything was crippled, not even light in the office. The money the government spent on NBS, we did not see anything,” he claimed.

HIPROFILE:
Has he returned the wrist watch he stole from that mugu who actually saw him (Shuaibu) wearing his stolen wrist watch at a function in the US, avoided attacking him and collecting his watch only to return to Nigeria to complain and petition IG to go collect his watch from Shuaibu.

Sometimes you would think these big men have sense but in one corner na just money dem get mind to do what it took to get but as per proper sense most of them no get.

As per my point: You would see a known thug who did no attend any school or have any quality exposure gets involved in drug and or politics do the dirty dealings and make money off it. He has made money yes but in some cases he shows zero intellect.

He knows Nigeria is not a darling of BRIC, not even AU! He's aware of the advance of Russia and China on the continent.

Who else can be a better ally to arrest these, than the rejected Nigeria State?

what's your point? grin

Pearl1910:
U didn't answer any of my concerns.
To be mobilised to continue, u still need to be under 30years. Did u notice NYSC didn't ask her to complete the number of months she did d first time. She was mobilised afresh, there is no continuation when u abscond from your service.
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 10:43pm On Aug 27, 2023
did she serve before? grin

Pearl1910:
How were u mobilised and serving at more than 30 years?
In this case the law states that u should be given a certificate of exemption.
So tell us, who did u bribe or where did u go and forge birth certificate or swear affidavit that allows u to still be mobilized when clearly you have passed the age.
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 10:33pm On Aug 27, 2023
so what is your point?

you said she has won, she is right. i am telling you she is wrong and she is breaking the law.

Flier:
You can purse it and continue later(if your situation warrant it ),and the good thing is you can continue at the age of 60
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 10:26pm On Aug 27, 2023
as long as she finish university before age 30, she must serve. she tried to serve in 2001. that tells you something, righthuh
there's no provision around it.

even the woman dey surprise me as a law professional. agbado people trying to manipulate everything.

Flier:
Her case is different, she started it before the age of 30 and differ it and continue at the age of whatever and during her service, she was reassigned to take up a position of a minister,it’s as simple as that
What she did is wrong but it’s just like a tax avoidance, there is nothing anyone can do about it under law
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 10:15pm On Aug 27, 2023
how has she won? grin

if they can pressure her like Kemi Adeosun, she has to resign immediately.
tell us how she has won.

Flier:
She has already won and nothing anyone can do about it,she right under the law
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 10:11pm On Aug 27, 2023
this your english is even wrong. i am telling you she cannot win. she cannot be serving NYSC at the same time.
she has law degree and i can tell you she is either trying to outsmart us or she doesn't understand the law.
she used that crying game in the senate to run away last time.

Flier:
She would win, she’s right under the constitution, you could differ your service and continue at the age of 60 and another thing is she’s 8 months into it before she was appointed a minister
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 10:06pm On Aug 27, 2023
she cannot win. have confidence in the laws. she has no way around the law. she's just trying to use words to outsmart us like her crying game in the senate

Flier:
The woman has already outsmarted Nigerians and nothing we can do about it,she’s going to win if you take her to court

Flier:
Kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa Laughing in Tiv lol the woman outsmarted Nigerians
She would win even if you take her to court because this appointment is just like a normal NYSC service under Nigerias constitution
Her advisers should get the best adviser of the century award, they thoroughly took the advantage of the loophole in the constitution
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 9:45pm On Aug 27, 2023
this woman is trying to be smart. where ya NYSC certificatehuh
PoliticsRe: Ministerial Appointment, a continuation of My NYSC programme - Musawa by frog12: 9:43pm On Aug 27, 2023
so there is no barrage of attacks. what is she sayinghuh?

you have not served your NYSC finish. you should not be a minister unless you get exemption. what's so difficult there. Kemi Adeosun resigned as minister of Finance because of NYSC certificate. common, she should resign immediately!

PoliticsRe: Gen. Murtala Backed Coup Against Gowon For Appointing Igbo Man NNPC DG - Clark by frog12: 11:04pm On Aug 26, 2023
Shagari was just beginning the 2nd term in 1983.
my friend, when you give soldiers power and money, dem want more.
those were junior officers removing a senior officer like Gowon and you think they will let Shagari stay after senior officers like Obasanjo and the others retired? grin

discusant:
And Buhari had to overthrow Shagari/Ekwueme elected government for fear that Ekwueme would succeed Shagari as president of Nigeria.
The story of Fulani and the Igbo in Nigeria is like the story of cat and mouse, worse, since the end of the civil war.

Cheap cash from crude oil is at the centre of the story. Fulani has no other big means of income in Nigeria, except from crude oil and gas deposits in the Niger Delta region inhabited mostly by the Igbo. Minority Fulani coopted the majority Hausa to control the government of Nigeria irrespective of who is the leader of Nigeria. Through that, Fulani extracts blood from the Igbo in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Gen. Murtala Backed Coup Against Gowon For Appointing Igbo Man NNPC DG - Clark by frog12: 10:49pm On Aug 26, 2023
so he is not nigeria's best leader. if he no like igbo, then he was not detribalised grin

i don't think that's the reason, i suspect they were not happy that Gowon was there for 9 years and they wanted to taste power too. it's like mafia of dogs that want to feed. it is the same script IBB, Abacha followed after and all of them planned 1966 coup.

garfield1:
Even murtala
PoliticsRe: Gen. Murtala Backed Coup Against Gowon For Appointing Igbo Man NNPC DG - Clark by frog12: 10:47pm On Aug 26, 2023
best leader mean he performed. he was detribalised so we like him.

garfield1:
Yaradua was just for two years.why is he widely like loved
PoliticsRe: Gen. Murtala Backed Coup Against Gowon For Appointing Igbo Man NNPC DG - Clark by frog12: 10:44pm On Aug 26, 2023
the man was only there for 1 year. how can you really say he was Nigeria's best leader ?
na the package lie dem feed all of us as children that murtala was Nigeria's best leader.

garfield1:
Let us out party difference aside and say the truth.murtsla was Nigeria best leader bar yaradua.he had the balls to do what was needed.he made it possible for Gowon to lead nigeria.if not for seniority,he would have succeeded ironsi.
