manie: Behind every stock is a company, try and understand the company, management and the industry you invest in, the stock price of the company you invest in is just one part of the equation. Shrewd investors based on the cash-flow that can be generated from the the investment.I sincerely appreciate your opinion and some of it makes sense. I just want to comment about the banking stocks in 2008. A lot of people that knew how to analyse the market fell victim as well not because they didn't know p/e or dividend yield and the like. The problem was that the analysis was done on fraudulents annual reports and financial statements. This is still my problem with Nigerian stocks. I don't trust some of the CEOs and Directors. They are opportunist and they walk on anybody to get to the top. In other countries, though the CEO and CFO can cook books as well, but hardly would they escape jail term. In Nigeria you know the answer yourself. My advise is that whosoever want to buy and hold stocks for values, do your research on the Directors and CEO of the company. If you can trust them, then believe their company and what they stand for. Personally, I trust the current Chairman of Transcorp and I believe you can't lose your money if you invest in the company now. Please I am not recommending the company. Moreover I have sold their stocks in my portfolio as my target had been reached. I think what you see is what you get. Again brodas perhaps sista in the room, do more research about the value investment in Nigeria. Nigeria is different from America. |
veeco vee: i mailed uba registrar about the long awaited dividend warrant. But their reply was that it must clock 6months b4 they ll reissue another warrant. Did they purposely withold warrant with up to 5 figure amount? anyone in same shoe?I was told the same story, but I don't believe they posted it because a lot of people have the same issue. It was only UBA that missed from dividend rolls. I am convinced they are trading with the money, otherwise they can cancel it and reissue instead of asking to wait for another six months. This can only happen in our obodo country. |
jp130: federal government bond bond. Una no de folo dis 1?This forum na share. You can start another chart room for Bond . |
Odu-toda-iwa:I always say on this forum that as an investor you should know your exit strategy before buying any financial instruments. This should be your driver and not the shout from the stock market or noise of the chat room. If you intend to make 20%, when the price hit your target exit sharp sharp even if the price later rises more than 100%. Nothing to regret about. Nobody knows the future of UBACAP except their directors and management, and they won't tell you this otherwise they would be committing a crime. Please know before you place a trade, your time frame and the expected return. Market will always be there. They have been around hundred of years and they are here to stay. I made the same mistake 2008 when I refused to sell my shares because I did not have time frame and exit strategy. In my Korokoro eyes 10 Million naira turned to 2 Million within months, positive to negative, traders turns to he go better investor. Broda except you are a value investor which really want to own the company, always plan how to exit. Those people don't think of time and exit strategy because they want to be part of the company and grow the company . But if you are traders or investor that only interested in share appreciation, know your time and exit. Nobody no the future of any stock. You can only control your time, loss and strategy. Sorry I can tell you anything about the future of UBACAP, make your own decision. |
debostar: I have sent a sales order to my stockbroker since 24/09/2013 to sell my UBACAP shares and up till now ,the order has not been executed.Every sales order has to pass through a broker, either computerised or manual, either in America, UK, or in Nigeria. The problem is that your instrument has not market marker otherwise the order could have been executed at market price. In a situation where there is no market maker for an instrument such as UBACAP, then the order will depend on the supply and demand. If you want to sell and there is no buyer, the order will not be executed. If you want to buy and nobody want to sell your purchase order will not be filled as well. This is why it is important to have market maker for every instrument. The market maker makes the difference not the broker. Hope this helps |
Omexonomy: Please house which other site can i use for cheacking stock daily price list. Nespro and stockmarket nigeria delayed by almost 24 hours before releasing result.NSE website or you pay $25,000. Check here for further details. http://www.nse.com.ng/DataProducts/MDS/Pages/Market-Data-Products-and-Pricelist.aspx |
janykute: Of late I have noticed their delay in updating the daily prices. Before it used to be 10 mins after the close of market.what is happening?NSE New Platform; they have to pay for the price list now and some of these brokers are feeling reluctant to pay for it. Actually the money demanded by the NSE is too ridiculous. For further information please check the NSE website. |
stockbull: let's try to learn from every right and wrong.we abandon so many things we think we do not need and they become references when they're out of hand.i like those who are analytical like youOga Stockbull, the problem is that none of these theories really work in practice particularly in Nigeria. Say for example the banks and financial institution taught and coined the phrase sensitivity analysis. With this theory no bank should go under. However the same banks traded with all their money without any back up capital. How can you explain this. It is the same bank in Nigeria that have three accounts. One for the investor, one for internal circulation and the other is original. Also look at all the P/E of the Nigerian stocks, they look attractive but still no serious investor believe the figures. Sorry I am investor as well, but there are things I look for in the markets this works for me. My point is if you rely on all there theories in Nigeria, sha I sorry bro |
kalan: Well said.I think you just left school or you are in academics. All these theories do not work in real life. Wake up sir! |
amustsuccess: Hello my fellow investors, has anyone received their Transcorp dividend? Cause I'm yet to receive my e-dividend. What do I do?I don't think Transcorp paid any dividend. If i may ask where is the source of your information? |
courage89: The recent drop in price of Oando was based on speculation, it has nothing to do with the fundamental of the company.Sorry guy I refuse to agree with you on this issue. Please cash is king. Is better to cut you loss short and run. Oando does not have good fundamental. The shares were purchased on speculation and not fundamental and is being offloaded due to speculation. Remember the banks prior 2008. |
princemolak: hey Guys, do you think oando will surely rise againCan you read my previous comments on Oando? Please I encourage you to read it and make up your mind. |
veeco vee: is there someone in the house, who is yet to receive there uba dividend warrant.I have not received mine as well. I called the registrar last week and they told me it was posted in July and I have to wait after six month before they can do anything like reissuing the warrant or anything at all. I advise you call them. From the bottom of my heart, I don't believe they posted it. Nevertheless the only thing I can do is wait. Mine dividend is much also |
Guys I need 20- 30 % on my investment for the 4th quarter. Can you suggest any overweight stocks to buy? Please let put our knowledge to work now. Don't suggest Oando pls |
SWG 1: The gurus in the house, pls help me analyse this; if verod management wants to stake 160m dollars (buy50%) in unity bank and the bank is not worth up to that in terms of its recent market cap. Does this mean d major shareholder will have to sell their holdings(90%) or the price of this stock will be forced to N2 to enable them hold back up to 50%. Pls i nid expert advice. It means they are buying the half of the company at 160million. Half of the shares/equities. This should reflect in the market price of the shares. The problem with Nigeria capital markets is that not all the companies have market makers. I think the company in question is one of the companies listed on the stock exchange that have no market marker. The share price would have been adjusted immediately if there was one. In this case I believe the price of shares will gradually rise to reflect the acquisition value through demand and supply of the shares. I don't know how you get your 2 naira, but it has to be 160m divided by half of the amount of outstanding shares. Do the maths yourself. If you get 2 then it is 2. I can only assure you that if you have the shares somebody will be at the stock exchange to buy it before reaching the ceiling. On the contrary, if you want to buy before reaching the acquisition value your order will not be filled. Sorry that is the way it works in naija. The scenario is similar to When Tiger Brands acquired 70 or 80% of Dangote Flour at 8 naira. The price of the stock quickly moved to that and it took a long time to move to its current price of N9. The only way you third party can benefit on acquisition is either the person or the institution had owned the shares before the announcement or inside trading. Hope this helps. |
I think GU daily chart is an interesting one now. It's pointing to sell. Please do your home work. |

ucheson2: Those of u expecting oando 2 fall below #5 'wait very well'. Let me tell u a secret: AS SOON AS OANDO COMPLETES ITS COP DEAL, ITS SHARE PRICE WILL BEGIN 2 ROCKET TO WELL ABOVE #35. U BETTER TAKE POSITION NW BC THEN EVEN UR STOCKBROKER MAY NOT EVEN WANT TO BUY 4 U! YES IT WILL B BUSSY BUYING 4 ITSELF.That was soludo time. No company is allowed to buy its share without first get permision from SEC and this must be made public. If you want to gamble your hard resources go fro Oando. Sorry brother I don't have good news for you. |

md003: i need 100k loan i have collateral worth 200k.Chart room na bank? Please be sensible. |
Tom29: Bros please can you help me with small thing? ThanksI am afraid TOM 29 I doubt if anybody on this chat room would be able to help you. The reason is that nearly everybody has been in your position before, but one way or the other they overcame the odd and move on. If you believe you still love the business, try the simulation until you are able to get money again and by then you should have known better. Please know that nobody really knows where the market will turn in the next minutes. Everybody just trying to increase their odd by using signals. No trade signal/tools is 100% guarantee. Lastly have you ever told or read that Warrent Buffet lost more than $2 Billions to Forex couples of years back. Please wake up. IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT. I don't intend to be mean but this is the only way you can move on and be a guru tomorrow. This thing has happened to all the so call gurus before. They accepted it as their mistake and went back to the drawing board. I know this is hard saying. But wise up. |
Toomaxi: Helo guys i need ur advice i bought FBN stock at 12.6 last yr and is at N15, am no longer comfortable wit its fallin rate, i want to sell it whts ur take? And if u agree dt i should sell whch stock do u advice me to buy?If I may ask, what was your exit strategy when you bought this stock? Did you intend to hold it for a year?, two? or months. The answer to this question and the rate of return your were looking for should determine whether to exit or hold. My advice is that all depend on your answers to these questions and this should help you in your subsequent decisions. Just to share my experience with you which I don't advice you to follow because we are different. I bought the same stock two years ago at #15 and my target was to sell at #23. Unfortunately it fell below 10 Naira, before soaring above #20 this year. Unfortunately my target price was not hit before the price fell to the current price. I have not sold the stock yet because I believe the bank is still strong and the fundamental is still intact and so I nothing to worry about. However I may decide to sell it if I need money or I want to re adjust my portfolio. I only took the dividend this year which wasn't bad anyway. Please know your exit before you enter. This will save you from a lot of headache. |
Guys be professional, just keep moving on. |
So-brit:In college try to learn more about this 1 and 0. Nothin do you broda. |
Kirinwa: Op you are not a trader.I have not seen your breaklight in FTA thread. Is it that you need alerts or strategies.Come out open lets help you otherwise your antics aint working.ok o! |
Has anybody received his/her UBA dividend warrant for year ended 2012? |
Zither: Op, I only want to point out something you may have overlooked among others. Since you started this thread we are yet to know the strategy you apply in trading forex. Nothing is known about how and when you trade, why you pick a trade or what currencies/assets you trade. Thanks for your comment. Point of correction I am not angry howbeit you are right. At least you have said something. More from other gurus. |
mayten30: add bulls power and bears power to ur chart, use the weekly chart, sell rules when bulls power is decreasing and bears power is increasing sell and when bull power is increasing and bears power is decreasing you can buy,use the weekly chart to get ur trading signals and use the daily chart as entry signal ,for example if you get a buy signal on weekly chart wait for the daily chart to confirm the buy signal before u trigger, that has being working for me for a very long time,if u have any more questions feel free to ask...incase if u do not know what bulls power and bears power is they are two wonderful indicators, check ur trading platform u will see itThanks. We are still waiting for other gurus |
