jp philips: why would a sane technocrat with proven track record care about APGA more than the professionalism he is bringing to the table.?Which professionalism are you talking about? If is about professionalism, let him go back to university to lecture. If you think first class is professionalism, you miss the mark. Please debate on issues and not abusing people of superior argument. This is the real problem of Nigerians and that is why the country still remain under develop. Former president of Brazil created 40 millions jobs and made Brazil a force to reckon with, yet he did not go to university. Look at the substance and character of candidates and not what they think they are. |

I am just wondering while my fellow Anambrans should support Prof Soludo at all. Really we have a very short memory. How are they sure that this man will deliver? This man destroyed our banking system to the foundation. Common man on the street lost a lot of money on the financial markets because of this man. He consistently lied to national assembly about the situation of things, giving false hopes to the investors. In other clime this man should be in jail without the possibility of parole. Are we so forgetful? O my people wake up! Fraudsters are the most intelligent people. When an average person commits a fraud he/she will be caught at no distant time, but intelligent people know how they cover their trails, that it would take experienced investigators to catch them. American prisons are full of Yales and Havards graduates convicted of frauds. Pro Soludo has nothing to offer. Be not deceived he has no tracking record. If you disagree with me do a little bit of research on this. The people that vetted him was aware of this and had access to information we didn't have. We should praise APGA for this loathe decision. |
any news about UBA dividends? |
phemmie06: To all ogas please which one can be best consider for the long time and also the best time to join the bus;It depends on the definition of your long time. Ugosample: Also, my younger brother is turning 18 next month. Is he qualified to invest in the market or i should buy in his behalf. Thank you.Yes he can invest himself when is eighteen. Good luck |
Ugosample: Hello house, please i have a question: what is the minimum amount one can invest in the stock market?1 naira but you must register with a broker as you can't buy on the floor yourself. |
RichYoungRuler: Its nice to note that they didn't write concerning those that currently have interest paying instruments with them. From that announcement it seems the current loan will be affected otherwise there wouldn't be any reasons to write or inform the holders about the changes. I believe most of the loans are variable interest, the bank reserve the right to review it anytime. The solution is to pay the loan back as soon as you can. |
Meringe: Is it advisable to invest in Oando and firstbank for short-term investment? What time frame are we talking about here? A month? Two? |

Francis-1:Forget all these intellectualism slogans. It won't bring food to the table of common people in Awka and Onitsha. Most of the biggest convicted fraudsters in US were Harvard and Yale graduates. Please don't be deceived Anambrians know better. Soludo should not be celebrated as an hero. He lead many people to their untimely death, believe it or not. As I say people can't be deceived anymore. We are now wise. God bless Anambra State |

ONITSHA—Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Power and Steel, Senator Chris Ngige, Monday, said concerted efforts by the committee to salvage epileptic power supply in Nigeria had started yielding dividends, following the celebration in Awka, Anambra State, of three consecutive weeks of uninterrupted electricity supply. Residents of such places as Agu-Awka, Ekeh Awka market, have expressed relief from the air and sound pollution of power generating sets. Speaking with newsmen in Awka, Senator Ngige, who represents Anambra Central senatorial district, explained that the development was part of his developmental programme for the zone. He added that the new transmission line at Agu-Awka power station was being test-run and would officially be commissioned in no distant time. Ngige also said it was part of the IPP programme being carried out by government to alleviate suffering of Nigerians over the epileptic power supply in the country and save small and medium scale industries from closing shops. He said: “This is part of the IPP programme of government on the power sector. What we have in Agu-Awka power station is a new transmission line that is under a test run and that explains why in the past three weeks, major parts of Awka have been enjoying uninterrupted power supply. “As a result of this, the load in those areas has reduced and also improved power supply in places as Nibo, Mbaukwu, Umuawulu and Amawbia towns of Awka South local government areas. “When the issue of IPP and transmission lines were being put in the front burner at the National Assembly, areas such as Onitsha–Nnewi were included as well as Awka –Enugu-Abakaliki. “So, that of Awka has come on stream and I am happy to tell you that this is one of my constituency programmes for Anambra Central. “Due to my position as Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Power and Steel, I was able to network major towns in Anambra State, including the Ala Oji power station in Abia State, and also towns like Onitsha-Ihiala Owerri- Oguta –Aba and Nnewi areas. “It would be recalled that when the Senate Committee on Power started its oversight functions it was discovered that 21 containers of transmission lines imported by the Federal Government’s contractors were auctioned by the Customs to unknown buyers whose addresses could not be identified.” Ngige noted “that the probe on power and customs over the auctioned transmission lines had yielded dividend and that is why Awka has witnessed a major boost in power supply.” He hinted that in less than three months, the improvement in power supply would be more, lamenting that no fewer than 16,000 small scale and over 20,000 medium and large scale industries had closed shop due to failure in the power sector in the South East zone since 1999. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/anambra-celebrates-3-weeks-of-uninterrupted-power-supply/ |

janykute: Why not process the E-dividend mandate, that's a very easy and faster way of getting your dividends.Because I am not an investor. I am a trader. You know what I mean. |
UBA and FIRST BANK DIVIDEND WARRANT Has anyone in the house got the dividend warrant of either UBA or First Bank? Your honest response would be highly appreciated. |
Josh121: Can one still buy oando now for long term. of 1-3yearsIf you have more cash to spare, why not? But I am out of Oando for now. They have to much cash which can be problem. |
saanil: Also I saw a news that GTB is acquiring Fina Bank for $100mn - is this a good acquisition? How does one analyze bank acquisitions?Usually when company acquires another the stock price should fall and the price of the one acquired should rise. The reason is that acquisition dilutes shareholder's fund either by borrowing to finance the acquisition or by allocating the acquired company's shareholders part of the the company's shareholders fund. However this usually happens for a short to medium term. In the long term acquisition can position the acquired company better and increased its revenue. In Nigeria, this might not be the case. Nothing works normal in the country. I am sorry if I offend the Patriot. I wouldn't be surprised tomorrow if the share price of the Bank rises to #50 before crashing again. Just trade with caution. |
sellydion: Try Dango sugar,I agree with Dango sugar, Skype Bank I you can buy Transcorp below 1.15, then you are in for goodygoody |

Fmdipo: If I can make 100% within six months I will be very happyThat was the reason why I said you must be reasonable. Unfortunately, stock trading is not building materials market. Reasonable returns will be say max of 30% per six months, or say 15% per quarter. If you make more than that that is fine. But I think this % of return is a good start. Say for example you buy skye bank @ 5 and target 6 naira within 3 months. That is 20% excluding commission. This is doable and achievable. But 100% in 6 months is gambling. If you achieve this, it is just cheer luck and I promise you soon or later you will loose all your money. I will look at the stocks and let you know the ones that have the potential of price increase of 20% within the next three months. |
Fmdipo: I want to trade stocks that I will realize profit within three to six monthsIf I may ask, what is your target profit? 10%, 20% or ..... Another rule of trading is that you have to be reasonable, otherwise trading will turn to gambling. |
Fmdipo: I just fund my meritrade account today with #50,000 and don't know where to start. Pls any advice from any experienced member. There are things you should know about trading. It is not for the feeble, though it is rewarding. Firstly you should know when you want to exit the market and your target profit. This is very crucial as this will determine the type of stock you should buy. Please have a target in mind. This will really help. I could have given you a rough idea about the stock you can buy now but I don't know if you want to be in the market for 1 months, 3 months or even for years. Your target duration is very important. Above all if #50,000 is your max capital, please try and split into 3 or 4 places to buy different stocks. Hope this helps. |
saanil: Isn't the devaluation cause for concern? Do you see it going to 165 versus the dollar?Cause of concern? Yes for the importers and people that use their products. Good news for the exporters which means they can get more naira. 165 in the short and medium term is very real unless government decides to prop up naira as usual by depleting their foreign exchange. Politically, you can't predict what the government can do at this time. However it doesn't make economic sense for the government to defend naira at 165. |
saanil: Guys any ideas on the exchange rate? It has been quite volatile in the past few weeks - any idea where it is headed in coming time?Naira to devalue more. Nigeria produces/supplies less oil now due to vandalism. The value of our currency in the medium term depends on the amount of oil we supply. |
Guys any calls for next week? |
anyanwu58: Greetings everyone, this is my first time of posting in this forum. It all depends on your strategy- I mean why did you buy it the first place. Did you buy because of suggestion from your broker or what? Did you buy it because of dividend? Or did you buy it to trade or to invest? Answers to all these questions will determine whether you should sell or not. As the other guy satirically suggested, no how no how you will get your money back within the next three years. It could be early, but definitely you will get it back if you can wait. Next time please take a deep breath and ask yourself the reason why you want to take a position and know when to exit either profit or negative. This should be known before taking the position. Trading for living involves a great amount of discipline. My over all advice is that if you don't need the money now leave it. You have learnt your lesson. If you need the money cut your losses and run. Runner is not always a loser as he can fight another war. |
