question: Yes. It was paid in May. You are supposed to receive in your bank account if you have e-dividend mandate.
Broda, I do. I received the dividend last year through my bank account but can you confirm if e-dividend has been paid?

Dangote Sugar Dividend

Has anybody got their dividend posted to their account? I am just wandering. I believe the dividend should hit account in May as that supposed to be the pay month. Any contribution from the house gurus?

It is good to share our experiences and if possible hints about trade and entry or exit alert. All these are welcome in this forum. Scalping is good for people that can glue with computer. I found it stressful, though some enjoy it. My strategy is to get between 60 to 100 points week. This is doable if you're patient.

please keep the thoughts coming

I am a full time Forex and Indices trader and as every seasoned trader can attest to that a times it can be lonely and dull despite being in black. However sharing information and strategies with people of like mind can be rewarding and lively. I have therefore decided to create this forum to share experience and strategies with fellow traders. Please let us know your strategies and how it has worked for you.
IslamRe: Why Islam Prohibits You From Eating Pork ~ 15 Things You Should Know About Pigs by frond: 2:16pm On Apr 23, 2013
There is no iota of evidence either scientific or otherwise to prove that those who do not eat pork are healthier than those who eat pork. The Arabs/Jews are not healthier than the west and other nations that eat them.

The write up is not convincing enough.

jossy26: ^^^ and Dangote Flour too, should someone hold or exit now?
These shares have been sold to Tiger brand, South Africa company. Don't expect anything from Dangote Flour. It is time to sell and invest your money in something else. This company will first settle their parent company in South Africa before thinking of subsidiary shareholders, where they got the capital to acquire Dangote Flour. My opinion is that the stock has reached its picked in the short and medium term. At this time they don't care about shareholders. If you like you go, they are not coming to the market to raise money anytime soon. Please make your own decision. What I am doing now is to sell Dangote Flour and buy Dangote Sugar which I believe is a cash cow and indigenous company that want to say thank you to shareholders and make them happy.

Toluway: Nobody can predict the market and that is why nobody knows the right time to enter. But in order to invest, you must take a step.

But abundant authorities have thought us that the right approach to the unpredictability of the market is - dont enter trade with the money you would need urgently and most importantly, diversify. Spread your money into at least 7 stocks. With this approach, you wont burder if one is going down because you know it would still rise, infact, you need to put additional money when it is down in order to enjoy the impending bull run.

Diversification is the key. Ask Stockbull whether he doesn't diversify a lot. This is how to enjoy a stress free trading career. This is my conservative and layman's approach.
If you did this when Oceanic Bank fell from 35 Naira to 20 Naira in 2008 (that is buy more when the price is down)I wondered whether you wouldn't have lost everything now. It is not a good strategy to buy more when the price is down. This is a loser strategy. You bought a share with the intention it would go up, but it fell. That mean you got it wrong. Take your lost and run. The best strategy is to buy more when you get it right not when the market move against you. However you can be lucky this type of strategy can work for you once or twice, but mark me you will regret it when you see the other side of this kind of strategy.

PoliticsRe: List Of People Pardoned By Bill Clinton (Re: GEJ's Pardon Of Alamieyeseigha) by frond: 2:32pm On Mar 25, 2013
President Clinton pardoned these people toward the end of his second term. He did it because he really believed they should be forgiven and left the stage. Alam was pardoned because they want to push him for a position. If he had wanted to forgive for real and genuine forgiveness he could have waited toward the end of his tenure. IT IS A NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT TO FORGIVE CRIMINAL IN THE MIDST OF CRISIS.

courage89: You echoed clearly the issue i have with ci. But, im an optimist. I want to believe that they will change that poor corporate governance and declare good dividend for investors. They need to toil these line of actions to boost their share value, because the value is there. I like the fact that as of 3rd quater, they have more than 2.7 billion naira in cash and cash balances. Thats 4x their market capitalization @ 511 million naira. At least, no solvency or reduced solvency risk. If you take that number divided by their current share outstanding, thats about 3.15 naira while current share price is 0.59.

I think the value is there. Management just need to make decisions that will unlock those values.
Don't believe all these reports. Most of these reports are not real. These directors and their auditors can be deceptive. All the banks that went under never declared any loses on their income statement and their balance sheet was strong. I beg invest the money you can loose. I know this sound harsh, but that is only way you can rest of mind in Nigeria financial markets. Don't trust Nigerian directors. Buying shares in Nigeria is like trading playing with shark. You have to be smart. DON'T TRUST THEIR FINANCIAL STATEMENTS.

stockbull: is it a government financed company? A corporate company gambling! Oando is expanding her coast in business and intend to venture in other businesses since oil is now discovered in many african countries and in many parts of america and also to strengthen their current business so as to be vibrant.
Yes Oando is not a government financed company and so was not intercontinental, union bank and Bank PHB. The fact is that when company want to finance in uncharted territory the best way is to raise money through loan/bond. They can then raise capital to offset this later when in profit. But in this case they have not started the business and people are trading the shares. This is just like somebody give you money to do business and ignorance "investor" speculating on your profit even before you start the business. As for me I am out. You can use your money better. Money is a scarce commodity, there is no need to waste it on voodoo.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by frond: 12:45am On Mar 15, 2013
nereiskc: Greetings my friends, it has been a while now. For me Oando is a stock to watch, I see it hit N25 b4 month end. For those of us that took my advice earlier when it was N13 and then their right issue were on, just monitor it, on the 1st lost, better off load cos that's my plan. But if u r in love wit d stock, still hang on.......finally, 4 those arguing that oando is dead stock, I knw experience hv though u lesson. TIP: once a company is on IPO and OPO or right issue, evalute d company if is under valued at primary market (NSE), just take position cos after the offer, there will b upwards movt of price B4 d newly offered units r absorb sequentially leading to price adjustment...
This oando stock is voodoo investment. Any company that goes to the market to raise twice as much as its current working capital/assets will gamble the money. The capital raised has not been tested, then how do you price or value freshly raised capital. This is just as if the company is starting business afresh. I wonder what are the people buying in oando shares. This was what led to the failure of our Banks: raised money from shareholders, gambled with the money because they didn't know what to do with and falsely assured by our central governor that all was well with our banks. If you have to buy the stock it should be for very very short time. For me I am out, I have learnt my lesson.

InvestmentRe: Which Nigerian Stocks Have You Bought Or Sold? by frond: 8:11pm On Feb 28, 2013
rhames: A lot of people bought shares on impulse but some of use relied heavily on experienced market players and stockbrokers to do the picking with a lot of research and visible facts. There are a lot of issues to consider when playing the markets. If you are a trader you will rely more on 100-200day price moving average or the results. But if you are a long term oriented person like me, you wont be bothered about those loses particularly when you know that recession is the businessman and investors best friend. I lost close to N5million in the market buying banking stocks, like First Bank,UBA,Access and Union bank where i lost close to N3.5m, the other one is NAHCO Aviance where i lost N1.5m due to fall in price. However , i am being compensated every year by NAHCO with bonuses to compensate for the loss even before the fall. I sold these shares at a discount of more than 75% and sent everything back to Nestle @ N110.56 per share. Nestle is paying me back for what i lost in the market since 2009. Because i took good advice from experienced people. People can queue up to buy Oando shares as it has a short PE (Time Payback Ratio) at the current price and its probable takeover by a Canadian Oil refiner.
Technical analysis does not work for Nigeria stocks. Fundamental and inside trading works.

I bought Transcorp @ 0.57 and sold @ 1.50 last two weeks. I bought then because I believed the company was undervalued and that the only problem with the company was lack of experienced manager. Thank God Elumelu came on board. I still believe it to be a valued company. The share is good to buy @ 1.20, this is where I want to buy again. For now I am out.

jamace: Banks Are Stealing From Customers Through Alerts

Can you imagine my banks deducting money from my account for sending me alert when I withdraw or deposit money? Again, during festive periods, say Sallah and Christmas, banks send best wishes message to me but charge my account for it. Is that right? What about deductions made from my account for an unsolicited birthday wish by the bank? Is it proper? When I think of the customer base of these banks and the amount they make, I feel the banks are fleecing the customers illegally.

I feel deductions due to unsolicited best wishes on festive days and customers birthdays by banks should be borne by the banks.

House, do you observe this and what do you have to say about it?
You can tell them to disable this service. My bank did it to me and I complaint that I did not opt for the service and they should repay all the deductions. Believe me or not they did. No deduction is allowed from your account without express authorisation. This was the reason why we went to school.

baby_123: Please no one forces anyone to do anything. Except they were ra*ped. For every action there are consequences. If you skin dive, be ready to pay for it. This applies to both parties. Time for adults to start taking responsibility for their actions. With skindiving, pregnancy is the least of your worries. It happens everywhere, but Nigeria ehn? It is so ridiculous. Women and children really suffer. lipsrsealed
My question to you baby_123 is that why do you think the women don't learn from the mistake of others? Perhaps because they love their spouses and they are abandoned? No no no, because they never think beyond now, i mean those women that mostly fall victim of these kinds of relationship. That is why I said the women should know how to believe in themselves and this will really help them in their relationship. Imagine a woman running after a man with three wives. Or somebody you don't know his relatives and pregnant for him? What do you expect in the long run about these relationships. I can comprehend all these things.
