Abdomox: Yes prepare for the test till when others confirmed they have received their emails. One thing you all should know is that until you get a regret mail from PwC you are still considered a recruitment candidate. Only the regret mail...not what other people say. 1 Like |

funkystanl: To those sending me mails for materials u can use the link above to download them, There is no need to drop e-mails, if you cannot download the files (because you are using your phones) then sending it to your emails also means you will not be able to access the files as well. If truly you need the files take the "pains" to use a computer system to download them. You can also check: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/42ljhn5vfedg7u2/AAAjRJRwjSt1YixewTx2Rkkda?dl=0 Cheers! 2 Likes |

columbushenry: Ok guys, the process is fairly simple and will be communicated to you as time goes on. PwC has one of the best HR personnel in the world and will get this information to you and at due course. The information I will be posting here is based on last year's process and maybe a feel of 2 years ago, so there may be variations with what you may get this year. For those of you who did not receive sms...that doesnt mean you cannot be invited to write the test via email. Calling or sending sms is not the formal way PwC uses to communicate to recriuitment candidates, do check your email regularly...besides those that receive the sms should discern a thread with their names...first name or last name. PwC sends sms or makes calls based on names so, likely some of you may still get the sms. But like i said the e-mail is the main thing. You are likely to get an e-mail directly from SHL (this is the platform PwC uses in conducting its test). You will be requested to do an online test (numerical and verbal aptitude). I do not know the time limit cos even during my time I was not interested (mine is to see the test, the instructions and do the test; my believe is that whatever time was set is based on standard and to be a success you must meet up the standard consciously or not). This test is to be done at your own comfort (time and space), although you wil be given days duration which you can write the test, you are allowed to write the test online on any of the days. There are tricks to the test, I am sure many of you have seeing the tricks in your practice materials, so i need not talk about that. Thereafter those successful will be asked to come write a verification test in PwC office (ONLY IN LAGOS). No centres outside Lagos for this verification test. The process is same as the one you will write at your own comfort only that at this time PwC wants to know if you wrote the initial test yourself or hired a mercenary. I am going to pause at this stage, when you get to this stage I'll give insight on the other expectation. For those who need study partner, I do not see it as necessary, and if you really want to just say you do and specify your location so other people can contact you via the nairaland mail option. You do not need to drop your email and phone numbers on the thread. I wish you all the best...PwC...Best and Brightest! 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Martins301: As for salary put any figure that looks reasonable. It has little or no weight in this application. Same goes for your ID. Just use any ID at this stage. If you do not have any ID you should at least have the national ID or LASSRA if you are in Lagos. All accepted! Corps members can also use their NYSC ID. But I think everyone should at least have the NIMC National ID. It costs nothing but 25 minutes of your time. Please put the actual period you spent in school...even if it is 6 years for a 4 years course. Except if your certificate is showing a different year of graduation. |

alexino: Alexino, I can assure you with 99% confidence that the case in PwC is different from KPMG. KPMG would invite everybody for test whether HND or BSc but will inform you if you have HND not to come for the test. PwC dont do that. MacCoka: The aptitude test (CBT-online and at your own comfort) will be next month thereafter if you do well, you will be required to go for a verification test (same shl CBT you did at your comfort) at pwc head office. The verification test is just to confirm if truly you did the initial test yourself and not a "mercenary" 3 Likes |

Politics / Fashola: Declares Work Free Day To Civil Servants by funkystanl(m): 9:04pm On Nov 05, 2014 |
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Wednesday declared Friday 7 November as work free day for public servants in the state to enable them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC). Fashola, in a state broadcast, said that: “November 7 shall be a work free day in order to enable workers to carry out this civic duty and exercise their civic rights”. He appealed to residents to seize the opportunity to ensure they collect their PVCs and register at a polling unit close to their homes. The collection of PVCs will begin in Lagos on Friday and will end on Nov. 9, while fresh registration will take place from Nov.13 to Nov. 17. The governor also urged employers of labour in the state to be flexible and accommodating to allow workers to close early on Friday. “It is all for our collective good,” he said. Fashola also advised residents of 18 years and above to take advantage of INEC’s issuance of PVC in Lagos. He said the collection of PVCs meant that the process for elections had started. “Yes, election is a process, starting from voter’s registration to balloting, to announcement of results and to elections petitions and swearing-in of elected persons. “So, for the avoidance of any doubt, elections have started. In order for our democracy to be truly representative, it must be participatory, which means that everybody who is 18 years old from today is eligible to vote in the next elections. “However, participation imposes a duty on all of us, if we must have a say in the elections. The first duty is to register as a voter to be eligible to vote on balloting day next year. “This is the time when we must take that civic duty very seriously by making the sacrifice by finding the time, by making the efforts to ensure that our names are still on the voters’ register”. Fashola, however, decried the shortfall of about 1.5 million in the number of voters recorded for the state by INEC. He said that this was an attempt by the electoral body to disenfranchise about 1.5 million voters, describing the action as strange. The governor demanded an explanation from INEC on the reason about 6.3 million registered voters recorded for Lagos during 2011 elections could be reduced to 4.8 million names. “This is strange; it is surprising and I believe INEC owes the people of Lagos State a lot of answers and very quickly too,” he said. Dr Leke Pitan, a former Commissioner for Health in Lagos, urged Lagos residents to troop out en-masse to collect their cards. Pitan, who is also a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the plea in a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Mr Afolayan Adebiyi. He urged them to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by INEC to exercise their franchise. ‘‘Your destiny lies in your hand and this time around, your voter’s card is your destiny. “This gives you the privilege to vote for whoever you want to lead you,” he said. The former commissioner also advised residents not to register where they work or trade to allow them to participate effectively in the elections. Education / Quickly Do Multiplication In Maths In A Way Most People Don’t Know by funkystanl(m): 6:52pm On Oct 06, 2014 |
Many people around the world struggle with math, and it is also not a secret that it is one of the most hated subject in the schools and colleges. It’s the complex numbers, formulas and algorithms that can easily confuse anyone. However, math is loved by many people as well, because it can attract as much as it repels. In this video, a very simple technique for multiplication in maths is provided. It is easy to learn and easier to follow. One simply has to understand and take note of the provided format. Once understood, it would be easier to find the answer of the toughest of multiplications within seconds. It helps in calculating quickly, saves a lot of time, particularly helpful during exams and tests, and is instrumental in creating an impression as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJf8XAhC550 1 Like |

Nairaland / General / Meet The Woman Who Cuddles With Strangers For $60 An Hour by funkystanl(m): 5:52pm On Jul 26, 2014 |
"Let's hold hands and cuddle up on the couch, or listen to some soft music while we curl up in your bed — I am happy to be the big spoon or the little spoon." This is one of the first things you'll read when you visit Samantha Hess' website, www.cuddleuptome.com At the age of 30, Hess is a professional cuddler. For $60 an hour, she'll intimately snuggle with strangers of all types, and bring them one-on-one cuddle time without the complications of a relationship. The idea came to her in 2012, when she read an article about a guy with a "Free Hugs" sign at a local Saturday market. Another man stood next to him with a "Deluxe hugs, $2" sign, and ended up getting more hugs than the first guy. "That was my lightbulb moment," Hess says. "I was at a place in my life, out of a 13-year relationship, where I needed a service that didn't exist. I was struggling and not ready for another relationship but still had an inherent need to be accepted and loved." Hess didn't know where to turn. She wanted physical comfort that was safe and socially acceptable to reach out to. So in May 2013, she started Cuddle Up To Me. Currently, professional cuddling is her only job, and Hess says she is making far more money from this business than she did in her previous jobs as a customer service representative or personal trainer. "It's definitely enough to make a living just doing this job, and I never need to take more than five sessions a day," she says. By working six days a week, Hess can make up to $7,200 in a month. About 90% of her clients are men between the ages of 20 and 75, and she says many suffer from severe traumatic diseases or disabilities that prevent them from having frequent human contact. "I call my service a 'massage for the mind,'" Hess says. "It's meant to rejuvenate you and make you feel that openness and happiness in your brain by resetting your system from top to bottom." Within 24 hours of her first session with a client, Hess usually gets a phone call or email about how much it meant to them. "I can't tell you how many times I've had to turn down tips, because people are so excited about it," Hess says. Hess will go almost anywhere for a cuddle session, whether it's a love seat in a movie theatre, local park, or their bedroom. What's most important to her is keeping her client comfortable. She has pre-arranged cuddle mixes and meditation music to set the mood. Hess will even wear make-up, a certain colour of clothing, or specific hairstyle if her clients request it. For her clients who are less comfortable with physical contact, she also created her own cuddling positions. "The Tarantino," for example, is for those who want to keep their personal space. "We sit facing each other with a good three feet between us, but our knees go over each other's, and we're cuddling with our legs and arms," Hess says. Although rewarding, Hess' work doesn't come without challenges. "It can be a little tough, because my clients get extremely attached to me," she says. One gave her a physical key to their heart. "It was the sweetest thing, but I had to remind him what the service is, and that we weren't going to be anything romantic," she recalls. Hess emphasizes that it is only appropriate to touch her where it would be OK to touch a child. If she's uncomfortable with anything, she gives her client two taps to signal for them to stop. "If they're looking for a replacement for sex, they're not going to be happy with my service," she says. This work also comes with its share of emotional burdens. "It can be very draining," she says. "Some people have difficult emotional issues they want to talk to me about during our sessions." To cope with this, she meditates before every session. She also showers and changes into different clothes afterward, because she wants to make sure she's completely fresh in both her mind and her body before taking on her next client. Hess has a boyfriend who is very accepting of her service. "He knows what I do is a form of therapy and that it really makes a difference to people," she says. Next month, Hess will open her first retail store and create a national cuddling certification through a 40-hour training program.
