Chairman of All Bishops in Rivers
State, Bishop Chibuike Nwabueze,
who was arrested for allegedly
raping a 15-year old girl, was
paraded, yesterday, by the state
Police Command.
The Bishop, who confessed to the
crime before newsmen, said he was
hypnotised, adding that he was set
up by the pastor of the church
where the incident occurred.
He denied raping the underage girl,
but admitted that she removed her
clothes after he finished praying for
her in the office and before he could
shout ‘the blood of Jesus,’ he was
already all over the girl.
The Bishop said he was set up by his
fellow Bishop, who was also
contesting for the post of Chairman
of All Bishops in the state with him.
Nwabueze, who was paraded at the
Rivers State Criminal Investigation
department, SCID, Port Harcourt,
said anybody could have fallen a
victim of what happened to him.
He described as untrue, allegation
that he made the girl abort a
pregnancy from the incident.
According to him, it was the girl’s
father that did it but he took care of
of the bill.
He said: “We have different Colleges
of Bishops. I am the Chairman of
Communion of Bishops in Rivers
State. Well, what actually happened
was a set up. It was set-up by my
enemies. The man who is in-charge
of where I went to minister is my
enemy. He is the person that set me
up.
“He invited me to his church for a
programme and afer the
programme, he set me up because
of what we are dragging. We are
dragging the chairmanship of the
communion and that was why he
set me up. But to my greatest
surprise, on the said day and after I
had prayed for her, the girl started
pulling off her clothes and before
you knew it, I had carnal knowledge
of her.”

Witches’ broomsticks are considered similar to any heavier-than-air transportation device that is airborne, reports The Star.

“A witch on a broomstick should not fly above the [150-metre] limit,” Civil Aviation Authority marketing and corporate affairs director Sabelo Dlamini told the newspaper.

No penalties exist for witches flying below 150 metres.

The report said it was hard to say how serious he was, but witchcraft isn’t a joking matter in Swaziland, where the people believe in it.

The statute also forbids toy helicopters and children’s kites from ascending too high into the country’s airspace.

Dlamini was asked by the Swazi press to explain the country’s aviation laws following the arrest of a private detective, Hunter Shongwe, for operating a toy helicopter equipped with a video camera, of which he boasted using to gather surveillance information similar to the way a drone aircraft operates.

The detective was charged with operating an unregistered aircraft and for failing to appear before his chief to be questioned by traditional authorities about his toy drone, the first of its kind in Swaziland.

Swazi brooms are short bundles of sticks tied together and do not have handles. Swazi witches are known to use them to fling potions about homesteads – but not for transport.

Imo State government has begun
the payment of stipends to school
children as well as distribution of
school materials to public schools
in the state.
While inaugurating the programme
at Owerri City School, Governor
Rochas Okorocha said the exercise
was aimed at encouraging school
children in their studies and further
creating conducive environment for
learning.
The governor, who was represented
by his wife, Nneoma Okorocha, said
secondary schools pupils would
receive N500, while their
counterparts in primary schools
would receive N300 every term.
“I am here to flag-off the payment
of your stipend. Of course, you
know that the governor loves you so
much, with much interest in your
education and future. His
watchword to students is hard
work,” the governor’s wife told the
pupils.
She further described education as a
vital instrument to a child’s
development, adding that the
present administration would
remain committed to transforming
the education sector.
