InvertedHammer: / True.
But there are easier ways of doing things.
Cheaper or not, why limit yourself. \ bros, I am not limiting myself. I am looking at branding possibilty, the kind that owning a .com cant do at this age and time in terms of owning premium keywords. Also, Nigeria's internet users is expanding at astronomical rates. I believe in owning domains that is short and defines EXACTLY what you do. Owning a .com in this age can't give you that except you are willing to shell out 4-5 figures dollars. Eg: Ring.com, Foods.com, Apps.com, Hotels.com etc However, it may surprise you to know that I am a STRONG .com domains owner spanning over 100 of them. I own Debacles, Career Counsel, InstantLecture, Hookup City, Sisters Design, Virgin Center etc and all these, are .com. |

jimi4us: be careful when searching for domain name on whogohost, as usual Naija people always want to play a fast one on people. i discovered that any time i seach for a nice name on whogohost.com 1 week later someone from their office will grab it before you do. picture below its an evidence of my claim. i searched for a domain name (bingo.com.ng) 3 days later it was taken by one Collins Adetuberu who work in whogohost office.
so guys my advice is, if you are not ready to pay for the domain name under 24hrs don't even think of searching for it in Nigerian domain sellers. eg web4africa or whogohost. no wonder Events.com.ng was registered. I almost registered it but later left it! |

theplushist: Whogohost should please answer to this! What! wow wow wow wow... I guess that's how Events.com.ng was taken a way from me. Check the address for bingo.com.ng and events.com.ng ah... Now I wondered why a name that I hadn't shown anywhere was taken then after seeing this, I remembered I almost registered the events.com.ng but later let it go hoping to register it some day. |

DrMuzungu: Over past 16-17 years of being actively involved in internet, web etc... I never had a single problem with .com .net .org and such TLDs which could not be solved within minutes. I would register a domain under my own national TLD (other than .NG) only if it absolutely necessary. Same stands for .NG
Who do you ask for help if your quite busy site suddenly goes offline due to the DNS issues at 4:45 AM, if it is on any .NG TLD? The answer to this question is the answer to the original post. Impressive! You just gave a best reason--no support system in place! |

AmakaDNBStories: Lols...heard her domain is already bought and the person is asking for millions. she made a mistake... 1. She should have acquired the .com long ago. 2. She shouldn't have gone to the person directly. I have extensive knowlegde of domain business. What she should have done was to contact the person through proxy. 3. She is being myopic if she sees no reason to own her .com which caters for her source of income name but prefer to spen 24Million Naira for Range Rover. One of the US presidential contestants paid $100k for his name. Just for campaign use, let alone one that could bring business to Linda is being ignored. |

Blame the scammers.
Use .com to beat the odds, unless you are not a businessman but a patriot.

webincomeplus: Ask Linda Ikeji what her blog URL is and she'll tell you it's Lindaikeji..com. The. com.ng version of her domain was created automatically. If you enter lindaikeji..co.in, lindaikeji..co.uk, or lindaikeji..co.ke, you will still get redirected to her blog. That's one peculiarity of Blogger blogs. So, many people with a strictly Nigerian IP get automatically redirected to lindaikeji..com.ng, not that she created that domain name herself.
As for branding, yes you may be right to some extent. But do you the number of people who enter jumia.com instead of ? Or have you ever wondered why Jumia and Co would do anything to encourage you you download their app? It's to prevent you from visiting the wrong site while trying to remember the correct URL.
Whether you spend on branding or not, the fact remains that most people will always start their guesses with .com before considering. com.ng. guy I don catch you ooo. So you go use one handle comment for domain thread den use this one dey bomb us with queens English eh? 100ksale make we rob mind abeg |

OldGist: TECNO should have started premium initially when they first hit the market. Just imagine Steve Jobs making an iPhone that sells for 10k and later up to 170k in the name of going premium. Remember: As you make your bed, so you must lie on it... TECNO started wrongly and it's too late for them to start correcting their mistakes EXCEPT they unveil a new brand only for premium devices. just my thought though. you are wrong! The way business evolve and expand is by making changes. |
