Don't play the victim here. Cause you are not. The other guy who has been in that relationship for long with her should be the one crying not you. Its a matter of perspective: see it this way - she is quiting the guy to be serious with you because after dating him for so long she doesn't see any future there. If she did, she wouldn't accept your proposal. Have a heart to heart talk with her and take it up from there....
respect brother.

grin grin grin bro, that hi could have been used to send your whatsapp number and that's the way nairaland was built--default message before custom messages if we ain't following each other. so could you oblige a bit and send the number? thanks. I have been busy chasing clients offline

You can use your discreation. I've done both and still got the job each time. Personally, when the budget is on the lower side I absolutely always add the 10% fee on top of the client's budget. But if the budget is reasonably high, I may choose to have the fee deducted from the qouted budget.

On the other side, it totally depends on your level of confidence and maybe the level of competition for the said project. Personaly I hardly qoute anything less than the client's expressed budget. I always put the same figure there or add 10% to it to cover Upwork fees.
I have just sent you a PM. Please reply with your whatsapp number.
BusinessRe: Elance.com, Upwork.com And Other Freelancing Site: How To Succeed Guide. by fxbot: 12:36am On Oct 16, 2015
paschu:
It's just as the caption says. The first field is where you put the amount you want to charge the client for the project. Once you do that the Upwork robot would do an invicible calculation, deduct the company's 10% fee fron the figure you entered, and display the balance in the second field. That balance is your net pay (the amount you'd get after the project).

I usually add 10% to my official rate so that after the deductions I'd still get the exact figure I wanted. For example, if I wanted to charge my client $100 for a job I'd qoute $111 so that after the deduction of Upwork fees I'd still have up to $100 to myself.

Hope that's clear enough?
i know that but the problem is a situation where client gives a budget of say $1000 and then we have that box. Do you put in $1000 since client gave a budget of $1000?

@Egbon Stagger,
abeg leave the unbelievers to their 'unbelief'!
Sometime earlier this year, l registered as a writer on FREELANCER.
I got my first project from a client with a female profile who was initially skeptical (l registered with my true identity: Nigerian male and all) but eventually found my writing rather impressive.
Because our time zones were hours apart, l sometimes stayed up all night punching away at my keyboard furiously to beat her tight deadlines.
As she continued to rehire me, l made a startling discovery - she was not an actual client but a freelance writer outsourcing her projects to me!
Hence the tight deadlines and meager pay!.
And l was way smarter than this lady. Yet there she was posing with and feeding fat on my intellectual property.
Thereafter, l just disappeared from the site: she DM me tire sef.
The point is that there is a lot of money to be made online. But as Stagger pointed out, you must find a way to beat the competition and climb high up on the food chain. Many Nigerians would outsource work online and pay mega bucks merely because na 'oyinbo' dey do the work!
Even some folks are doing the emboldened but people don't know yet. Be wise people.
PropertiesHow To Take Your Business Beyond Nairaland, by fxbot(op): 5:20am On Oct 15, 2015
Dear Nairalanders,

When it comes to doing business on the internet, it's a business beyond Nairaland.

Over time, I have noticed that businesses operating on nairaland feel reluctant to add other marketing channels to their arsenal.

However, most of the big brands currently making wave, talk about larmudi, Carmudi, Konga, Jumia et al are not doing so. They didn't get big by sticking to one channel--they stretched their tentacles to reach out.

How did they do it? By placing ads on facebook, blogs owned by people and other notable social media platforms.

I understand that one reason to stick to showcasing your business on nairaland is because of FREE advertising advantage. If those are your thought, pardon me if I say it's not the smartest way to think if you really need to make more money. I wonder if you would have known those big brands out there had they depended on FREE advertising that only tie time to secluded section of web world.

Statistically speaking, there are over 50 Million Nigerians connected to the internet but Nairaland has just 1,5Million, certainly guess viewers can not be as much as 300k. So you see? How do you reach the remaining 48.5Million Nigerians if you depend on Nairaland for your business. What is left if we divid this 1,5Million members into different section that make up the community? And add to the fact that some persons have has much as 10 alternate handles and some non-existing member who chose not return for personal reasons.

As a business person, I do not need tell you that you make money with money. But that does not mean it will cost the moon to get this done.

It will surprise you to know that for as little as $5 you can advertise your business on facebook per day. Yes, $5/day and that is $35/week and of course $140/month, which will enable you reach the entire Nation..

You thought it would cost thousands of Naira per month? Nope, it doesn't. If you taylor your advertising budget properly.

Now if are willing to get this done, how can you reach out on the web if you do not have a webpresence? People will need to see your website so they can know what you have to offer and they build trust because you have a web brand, a presence and an authority,

The first thing to do is get yourself a website. Again, when it comes to getting a website people feel it will cost them thousands of Naira to get one done,

Nope it doesn't.

This is where we come in. At www.websitedesigns.com.ng , we can help you cut cost of getting your own website.

Nice one OP,

My blog is all set and just needs to be updated with contents, just been attending to some clients' jobs and haven't had the time to really sit down and write.

I'm in the natural remedy/health niche and my aim is to sell some affiliate products from Amazon and Clickbank, and also monetise with Adsense.

Please, I'm looking forward to reading your post about FB ads and other traffic sources one could explore. Thanks!

@Fxbot, boss na everywhere we dey jam. Like minds think alike. I hope you're no longer into forex, this is time for real business.

I tried forex before and that sh!t was crazy. Nobody advised me, na me advise myself. And I took one guy l met on a forex thread on this forum along, share my tips with him and was constantly encouraging him, today he's also established; from I don't know how to write to a successful writing career. You need to see his reviews on Fiverr. The last time we chatted, he was like "I dey fear sef make US govt no come order my gig because of the reviews"... Lol, funny guy.

The OP has said it all, you need to exchange value for cash. That's all! I've tried a lot of things online, na only God fit explain how I wasn't scammed. I got a lot of enticing offers of which I struck a deal , abi na paid membership site where them give me free access after I smartly asked but left when I no see results?

Anybody in a flashy car trying to sell you a push button system to make cash is trying to push the buttons in your head to get away with your money. Real success requires handwork (you may say smatwork, but that is also hardwork).
BROS, there is nothing new about internet business to me. I have some many information that I don't use and that's why I want to start a blog. I you must have noticed that I research A LOT. That comes naturally to me bro and therefore, I feel I could exchange that for some nice cash. I have my good days online bro, but I want more. Talking about VALUE, I know what that means to the survival of a business.

The OP already knows I know somethings about internet business... let me tell one BIG secret of ALL internet money makers: LIST BUILDING! That shit is your own ATM! without it, you can easily go broke. forget all the "I made 3million in 7days" what ever they claim they make, a list gave them. aweber is better than get response.

Yes I am, but what I teach goes a bit beyond that. Some in the niche focus only on making money. I focus more on achieving growth, and making money second.

What niche will your blog be in? May I ask what's keeping you from starting today? (And no, this is not a sales pitch. smiley )
lol. You should know that you don't start something without planning and a system in place. I just had my theme up and was about puting the necessary plugins when I discovered that 4,5GB subscription is finished less than a week. Terrible.

I've used a number of different strategies, but mainly content marketing and Facebook ads. I also leverage my ebooks and information products to draw traffic back to my blogs as often as possible. I've never tried guest posting, because once I was able to generate traffic from my own sources, guest posting and blogging seemed like a waste of time for me. But that does not mean it is an effective strategy overall.

Most of my audience is from the West and parts of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. My Nigerian audience is growing, but it is significantly smaller than audiences from other corners of the globe. The biggest challenge with building a Nigerian audience (or with any audience) is gaining trust. Each country, culture and economy presents a different set of challenges, and it's when we overcome those challenges do we succeed in business. I've received a lot of interest from Nigerians about my trainings and coaching, but because so many people have been burned by scammers and ineffective "online businesses", they are hesitant to move forward. So I'll have to reassure them that what I teach is the real thing. And that is going to take time.

And I do use an autoresponder to build my mailing list. I currently use AWeber, but I am also testing out a new platform called Convertkit. It's better suited for delivering email courses and trainings, which is what I do. AWeber works great for basic newsletters and email lists but I need a system that's a lot more robust with more extensive features than it currently offers.
Okay. I will be launching my own blog soon. I believe you are in the make money online niche right?

Your comment sounds too INFANTILE
it's very obvious that you lack good command of the use of punctuation. Else, you would have seen what he meant in the quoted word(s). Sorry, it's just an observation and because many think spitting verbosity make them appear learned while failing at basics of English language. The guy was being sarcastic if his punctuation is anything to go buy.
