People still using Styrofoam? Thought it's banned |
chidiokay:Go and find out how much Dangote sell his diesel, does competition means selling below cost price? If Dangote is to sell petrol to marketers today, the price will almost be at par with diesel, has the competitive market brought the price of diesel below 1,000 naira? Let's face reality, it's only through subsidy that can make us get petrol below 1,000. Dangote is buying crude from NNPC at the naira equivalent of the dollar cost, it's not as if he's getting discount and the cost of refining will be built into the price at the end of the day. If we want it cheaper, it has to be through NNPC subsiding the price |
Dangote can only guarantee availability but not affordability, it's left for NNPC to do the needful by buying from Dangote and make it affordable at the pumps, weather under recovery or subsidy Nigerians just want affordable petrol without stress |
EnglishUsa:the only thing making petrol scarce in Nigeria is because it's being subsidized which make all sorts of corrupt officials and smugglers gaming the system. If the downstream market is really deregulated, marketers will import and sell at cost reflective prices but we will pay more for petrol and it won't be profitable for would be smugglers to sell in neighboring countries |
Ttalk:with Dangote Refinery, there'll be availability but I doubt the affordability aspect |
NNPC is the only entity that can buy petrol from Dangote Refinery and sell in the local market for now as FG is still subsidizing. Diesel and Aviation fuel aren't subsidized that's why both major and independent marketers operating in the downstream market can purchase from Dangote and sell at competitive prices. Even if Dangote open up it's sales to everyone, they still won't be able to compete with NNPC as FG is trying to maintain price to avoid another round of hyper inflation with attendant anger and discontent among the populace. |
He must have learnt his lessons, shout out to VeryDarkMan |

This is an old video, I think this should be around 2003 |
Like father, like son |
We want uninterrupted grid power at cheap tariff, ask an average South African household how much they spend on electricity monthly. When we are ready for cost reflective tariff then we should be expecting improved power supply. Without the right tariff, the power sector won't attract meaningful investment. Shout out to consumers on band A, they are the real odogwu |
Yaribanzaonic:no Nigerian president has ever done better than his predecessor, and the trend won't change with whoever succeeds Tinubu. We thought Jonathan is the worst till we have Buhari's, now this is Tinubu and we are rating him as the worst. |
Kosoko street in Ojodu Berger is a street of less than 400 metres shared by both Lagos and Ogun states, Both the korope buses and Okadas constitute nuisance on that road |
As many Obidients are anti Democrats, maybe they can now support Kamala as their god has gotten an invite to the DNC |
The only issue delaying roll out of pms from Dangote Refinery is the subsidy issue. Rolling out of diesel and aviation fuel have no issue but petrol pricing is critical in Nigeria, And I believe with FG sorting this out with Dangote we will finally be having locally refined petrol after decades of importation. As imported petrol is being subsidized, Dangote can't produce for Nigerian market at the current pump price without government subsidizing. It's either FG completely deregulate the downstream sector with attendant high pump price and another round of hyper inflation or continuing subsidy regime and lose revenue. |
The truth is Tinubu doesn't want to be seen doing a volte-face as per his inaugural subsidy removal announcement, so they are giving it another name: "selling below cost price". In Buhari's time it was called "under recovery". The unfortunate thing for him is opposition are using it against him, either they claim he's wicked for removing subsidy and in another claim he's being castigated for paying subsidy which he had announced has been removed |
lexy2014:Because it's in our trait to cover face when caught and being videoed after a shameful or criminal act. And the store owners are speaking in pidgin knowing fully well that the robber is a fellow Nigerian and will understand their angst against him very well. They even call him "ole" |

Achoghim:There's a reason for choosing my words carefully, I only said I've never heard and that doesn't mean it never happened, so you're just putting it to my hearing. Now I've heard, thank you |
Anything to guarantee efficiency in the system is welcome by me. We. the consumers too should be ready to pay cost reflective tariff. Inefficiency in the power sector has been the bane of stable power in Nigeria. This should make the discos more responsible. So many areas are on load shedding (some areas are on "one day on, two days off") because the discos can't afford to build more injection stations and provide relief transformers for already overloaded distribution transformers which made some communities spending millions in providing transformers themselves. |
MadamVanessa:not even desperate to be president? A man who lost an election and still want to hold tight to office. It seems to you desperation has another meaning. I've never heard of an American president who lost his 2nd term bid and came back to contest again for the office. Carter, Bush Snr, didn't come back for another term after losing as incumbent |
Oseni Rufai that's already a mouthpiece for opposition is considering himself an impartial journalist. He's already a politician, another Omokri in the guise of journalist. Oseni will at last end up as a Special assistant on media and publicity to a politician. He has no carrier path in journalism, I can bet his journey in journalism will end with Arise News, except he comes up his own media outfit. No serious Media organization will want to employ a tainted journalist like him |
The truth about delay is just that agreement hasn't been reached with FG on subsidy issue. Dangote can't sell at the current market rate except government subsidize |
When it's being sold for less at NNPC filling stations, what's crashing about the price? Except FG subsidize, Dangote won't sell below 1,000 naira |
I saw the recovery of the car this morning, and I was wondering weather the driver is high on Colorado. I know it's the case of youthful exuberance |
Bunch of jokers, how many are they? Comedians disguising as protesters |
Rice wey government never begin sell, na im someone say dem don buy and begin to dey resell, as much as I have deep respect for Mr Rewane, he should speak with facts and not be sensational |
NNPC is just demanding for money spent on petrol subsidy from FG. |
Kperogi should understand that petrol is still being subsidized in Nigeria today, maybe he meant petrol price should return to pre May 29, 2023 rate of 167 naira. And if we are to return to this rate, where's the resources to pay for the subsidy. Everyone believes it's just to sit down and apply a theory on governance till they now get the throne and find out that it's easier said than done. |
Sadly, this is the reality, NNPC is the sole importer of petrol because it's being subsidized, Dangote will sell petrol at international price as it's being done with diesel and aviation fuel because he got the crude at international rate, no marketer can buy from Dangote to compete with imported petrol subsidized by NNPC. I believe there must have been a template already to take care of this when Dangote refinery starts rolling out petrol. If not that petrol is being subsidized in Nigeria, the price would have been at par with that of diesel and Jet A1 |
I agree with the prof. I don't see anything wrong in spraying someone cash at a party. What negative impact does this act have on the economy. Misplaced priority by EFCC. |
