Sincerely, I agree with you and I have sometimes wondered if the religious leaders that behave this way actually believe in the existence of God themselves, coupled with several other people who became religious leaders as a source of income and as a thriving business. It is also a serious concern for me. There are however others yet, who are still sincere and try to do what is right.

But fortunately, everybody has a right to choose where to worship and could look for places where materialism is de-emphasized. There will always be at least one or 2 around.

Well, you probably don't understand my line of argument, her question is not asking if there is a God or not and no where did I try to convince her that there is a God. I am only trying to answer in line with her question, which is let's assume there is no God, is religion worth it? I don't think both are the same.

They would have also had such desires had they not being religious leaders. At least, they are not pointing gun to the head of anybody or 'matcheting' people to collect them. So I think it's still a better opto visit you, who would you prefer, a flamboyant and materialistic pastor or a notorious and materialistic armed robber?

There will always be good and bad in the world, and the bad will also infiltrate every aspect of the society. You have the choice of looking around till you find a sane place, where there is a sane religious leader you feel comfortable under hiss principles. Even if 99.9 percent of religious leader were to be the way you proclaim (which is not the case), there will still be tot the case), there will still be that 0.1 percent somewhere.

Nobody is perfect, but from my own point of view, I feel religion has done more good than harm. A lot more people are scared of hell fire (be it real or imaginary), than they are of getting caught and having to serve a jail term. Especially in Nigeria, where even if you are caught, as little as a thousand naira or a little more, can secure your freedom from the police cell in most cases.

It will have also been a good thing, as it is really keeping a lot of people in check today.

There are a lot of people that are serving God zealously today and striving so much to live a perfect life, in terms of holiness. Some of such people will tell you that they always love to excel at anything they set their mind to do, and if they were not serving God, they might have being thugs or criminals, and if that were the case, they would have just put the same effort in making sure they are as wicked a thug or criminal as it was possible to be.

Imagine that you are a Christian or Muslim today and you decide to live in line with the preaching of peace, holiness, helping each other and giving to the needy. What do you stand to lose at the end of it all. You will still be living a happy and fulfilled life.

The bottom line is that there are fewer thugs and criminals today because of religions that preach the existence of a God that punishes such behaviour. It has therefore made the world a more peaceful place for you.

And finally, what if at the end of it all, you find out there is a God, you will stand to lose a lot more.

Okay o, I hope the money later reflects physically in the bank account of the witches and wizard that take the money spiritually. If so, I am interested in that type of wizardcraft, kindly introduce me. Don't bother about those that can fly to Indian and America and come back in same night o. I love my country. As far as I am concerned, witches and wizard is the adult ojuju version. Imagine say all the witches and wizards dey always be poor men and women for village when they can just fly enter Central Bank or Zenith Bank and park enough money. Just as ojuju is used to scare children, witches and wizards are used to scare adults. Simple and Short.
