My application( my wife and I) have just been approved:

submitted: Oct 28
IP1 and Medicals: Nov 1
NA2: Nov 1
IP2: Nov 14
PPR: Nov 15

P.S: I currently reside in Canada while my wife is Naija. I think its going to be stressful if she has to send me her passport before we can mail it to Ottawa. Any suggestions on what I can possibly do without troubling CIC lol.

Please just a clarification here. Does it mean that one can get additional points by assessing two degrees?? an M.Sc and a B.Sc for instance. Others please corroborate this.

You dont get additional points. You only get the deserved point for the highest degree that you have which is your MSc. In my opinion, you only have to evaluate the Msc. That should suffices.

I went to the police station in Regina and they requested for two IDs to confirm my identity . they gave me their form to fill my details and my thumb prints were taken on another form , which was signed by the officer that did it .
This was scanned and sent to Alagbon

For Inland FSW applicants, how long does it take to move from NA2 to IP2 nowadays? Do you have any idea please?

I submitted on October 28,2017 after my MSc(Maths) convocation at the University of Saskatchewan. I forgot to add this: My wife submitted Spousal Open Work Permit app since July 5 and we havent heard anything. That was why I even delayed submitting the app early to see if CIC Ghana was gonna answer but upon advices from Nairaland and friends, I decided to submit the app on Saturday. She is included in the app and I did not withdraw her app since she is not the primary applicant.

Hello everyone.

I am currently a PhD student (Mathematics) at the University of Alberta. I came to Canada in 2014 and I completed my MSc Degree at the University of Saskatchewan. I visited Nigeria this Summer (May,2017) and I got married to my long time girlfriend.

I applied for SOWP on July 5,2017 and I am yet to get anything from CIC. The mistake I made was that I should have applied for PR adding her as a dependent but I was really busy with school so I couldn't write the IELTS exam before I submitted the SOWP application.


My MSc convocation is happening this Fall, October 28,2017 and this wait is really killing me. I could not attend Spring Convocation because I was in Naija. Honestly, I wish my wife can be here so that she can watch me receive my degree. You know, I feel like she deserves to be present with all the support that I received from her.

Here is my thought: I am planning to email CIC, Ghana office to humbly beg them to do something so that my wife can attend my convocation. Of course, I am going to add every other reasons like her presence would make me concentrate squarely on school and that I have being a loner here since 2014.

I have received ITA recently but I am still waiting, hoping they can answer her first before I launch my PR app(She is included).

Please guys, what is your take on this? Thanks for your honest answers.

double08: It's true no one can guarantee you visa but you will agree with me that an agent with good standing with the canadian embassy increases ur chance even if it's by 1% (sometimes all u need to succeed is that 1%)

If you have the money to pay an agent by all means go for it but if you don't or u you don't want to you can do it yourself.

Let me just chip this in, some clients submit forged docs to agent and they end up getting denied and they fault the agent when you know fully well the fault came from you. Just saying.....i stand to be corrected tho

God's favour prevails over any means of application but in my own opinion and from the success rates i have read on this thread, appying by yourself is the best. I am a living testimony.!! Good luck to TRV awaitees and Medical hopefuls.! NO go submit fake docs ooo

hi, pls I need to confirm, I have not received a mail in my CIC to update my status but got an email saying my passport has been dispatched to me. what can this mean? I went to checked my CIC account when I saw this mail and saw that it has been closed and this application approved.no email was sent to me to that effect.
I haven't gotten my passport cause it was posted today. tried tracking but it was collected from their office today

Your processed passport is ready for collection, I surmise! But since You used the Courier service, the passport should have been collected on ur behalf and ready for dispatch anytime soon. U sud get it latest by tomorrow or beta still call the courier agent in charge of the postage. Congrats dude!

True Talk! I got with a family friend that I claimed as my Aunt. Although, I am fully funded! I wasn't opportuned to add tax clearance certificates and co. I submitted a Letter of sponsorship, Affidavit of Sponsorship, my 2 scholarship letters, SOA and proof of financial support from National Mathematical Centre,ABUJA stating that monthly stipend will be remitted to my account during my Masters Studies. Applications are treated in different and diverse ways, God's favour supersedes all.

Amefrica: "Parents" looks more credible than "Uncle/Aunt", if your application is convincing enough, nothing would stop you from getting it. Remember, you have to prove the relationship too.

So many a people have gotten their TRV with "Uncle" - including me..

I could have chosen 1st September but there is orientation on the 2nd September at the University of Saskatchewan where I will be doing my PhD. The orientation is for graduate students so if that's your school too, you have to be there by then. As a result, 1st September may be late.

twoc: hi, when did you collect your TRV after drop off. pls I need to confirm that apart from the N6200 for CVAC, I have to pay 4500 for tracking and posting my pasport back to me when I submit or I still ve to collect in person.

I am really sorry about the delay, but firstly I will advise u not to rush. Correct the blips in ur app bf reapplying.

I urge u to write a convincing SOP cos that should take care of the 'travel history' part.
If I may ask, hope ur sponsor didnt pump money into the account used just for this visa purpose? The inflow and outflow should be alright and as for home ties, landed property should suffice. Gurus in the house can still help with the ties and alsostart thinking of a formal way and doc to impress the VO that u will be returning. God being ur helper, don't forget Him. Babas in the house will help with other areas.

Congrats to all the peeps who got their trv, and wishing those who are travelling soon a very safe trip to the maple land.
Pls don't forget to have all ur docx with u till u get to the port of entry.know ur school name and address. DO NOT FORGET THE DATE OF EXPIRY ON UR STUDY PERMIT. For those who have to renew it, pls renew atleast 60 days before expiry(proof of funds will be required for study permit renewal). Try to find out anything u don't understand from ur skuls international dept. Always keep ur ears open for rules/laws.be cordial with peeps u meet cos u might need them lateron.
Pls stay away from trouble, improve ur skillset, dont just depend on only what u r thought in school. Try and observe ur environment before u jump into getting a job.also just like any other country, there are employers here who take advantage of foreigners so pls beware and don't let anyone use you. If such happens, pls complain to ur schools International dept asap.
