Politics › Re: Cost Of Nomination Form For Primaries: Texas In USA Vs Nigeria by Gamesmart: 12:22am On Apr 23, 2022 |
jmoore: Below is the list of what most states in USA charge for a candidate that wants to partake in primaries.
Governor: $5,000. U.S. Senate: $5,000. U.S. House: $2,500. State Senate: $1,000. State House: $500. Judicial offices: $500. Countywide elected offices: $100. County Commission or Constable: $25.
Let's compare one state in USA and a country called Nigeria.
GDP of Texas 2021: 2.0 Trillion dollars Budget of Texas 2021: 261.5 billion dollars. Presidential aspirants in Texas pay a $5,000 filing fee.
GDP of Nigeria 2021: 446.9 billion dollars Budget of Nigeria 2021: 23.3 billion US dollars (13.6 trillion naira) APC presidential form: 170,940 US dollars (100 million naira)
Compare that to a poor country called Nigeria. APC decided to set the price of governorship at $85,470 (50 million naira). That is 16 times more than what is paid in USA. While that of president set at 170,940 US dollars (100 million naira) is 34 times more than what is paid in USA.
Until INEC sets a REASONABLE limit on how much political parties can charge, this ridiculous trend will continue.
Are our destinies tied to APC and PDP? Many are complaining that these top two parties are disenfranchising young candidates with their prices. We have more younger people than old people. If only many Nigerians think like me, APC and PDP would have been abandoned for a long time. But most of the electorates love 'abusive relationship'.
If in other countries, a young person can win an election with a unpopular party, why can't it happen in Nigeria? What a totally foolish compilation! What has GDP or Budget got to do with respective declared fees for candidate forms? How did they become useful tools for comparison of how much declared fees for candidate forms should be? That is just a completely senseless, totally senseless, waste of time and compilation. This is what is F-9 standard write-up. Complete nonsense! |

apatheticme: What do you mean by the bolded??
A lot of women are more financially buoyant than the man and they fund the home also without louding it like these wimps whinning upandan when they drop 5k at home!!
Was Osinachi not richer, gifted, loved and more talented than her husband, she brought everything to the table, yet he killed her out of Envy, jealousy and stupid superiority complex. Now some Nairaland boys are trying to say it was because of her mouth. Which mouth??
You may not be aware, but a lot of women actually work and have their own money, even more than the men. So remove that stupid story you've been fed that women are financially lesser than men.
You don't have to grovel to seek their stupid useless male validation on Nairaland, there's more to life than male validation!! When you are not lazy and can work to pay your bills, they'll tremble before you.
"It's not every woman a man can beat". I'm waiting for the man that will beat Temi Otedola, or beat Folorunsho Alakija!
Stay focused. What a profoundly fooolish argument! Statistics from virtually every country in the world would show that men, on average, make more money than women in that country. Stop arguing stupidly! Men are stronger than women physically, financially and emotionally. I thought I gave you a very good lecture not to be using exceptions and minority to make a point? https://www.nairaland.com/7047493/why-there-many-single-guys/16#111476459You struggle to learn? |

janejjjjj5000: Please, I don't want to be judged. My husband is a good man. We have been married for 14 years. I am 33 years old. He is 39 years old. We have 4 kids - 3 girls and 1 boy. He has never cheated on me. Right from day 1, he has been very open. He is not the type of husband that locks phone and all of that. But I am tired. He has the habit of flaring up around the children and I don't like it. I don't want my kids to be damaged. I know some will say no marriage is perfect but at this point, I don't even want marriage again. I just want to be free and single and look after my kids. I am tired.
Anytime we have an argument, he always talks about how he did this and that for me. In front of the children. I don't want this kind of life. He hardly gets angry, maybe twice or thrice in a year but when he does, he does not have the sense to know he should not be doing it in front of the kids. He apologizes to them and to me but I am done.
He has no other issue apart from this. He has never beaten me or anything but I am tired. Overall he is a good husband to be fair and honest but I can no longer deal with this. I prefer to be single and free than deal with this rubbish.
I feel like pouring out my heart. Na only you? |

Kazeem47: I think After Secondary school too.But sometimes the child needs the phone as early as possible in case of emergency.Whst matters most is proper upbringing and prayer too.Because some children can still get access to phone from other children and sometimes from older adults which is bad because you can't monitor them. This typical nonsense excuse for making the same stuuupid decisions. What emergency are they likely to be looking for on the internet? I would love to see stats of the "emergencies" children have been involved in in Nigeria (or even any other country) that they needed internet for vs the number of children with phones with internet. You people will do stuuupid things and then turn to prayer to give you the right thing. You give your child internet, you effectively give them a third parent (or second if you are a single parent). End of! The internet will help raise your child and determine their moral values, at a period while their brain is still learning and is malleable. Your wife will be mother, Cardi B will also be the mother. So is Nicki Minaj and co. You can gaddam pray all you want. Yeye "emergencies"! |
Romance › Re: I'm Receiving Death Threats From My Girlfriend's Ex by Gamesmart: 3:26pm On Apr 21, 2022 |
Onahi95: Good Morning Fam, I've got this pressing issue that I would very much appreciate your wise counsel to help me solve.
I met a lady about three months ago and we bounded pretty quickly, this oyibo movie kinda love story that the dating starts without anyone doing the toasting and all. I asked her about her relationship status weeks later and she said it was complicated, citing how the relationship has been toxic and she wants to leave but the guy won't let go.
I shaa told her that I won't get involved so let her handle it herself. The guy backed out for a while but has resurfaced recently hell bent on getting the girl back. From the WhatsApp conversation and call recordings the girl sent me she has made it obvious to the guy that she's moved on with another guy but the young man is having none of it. She even offered to return everything he's ever given her but no way.
Now he has resorted to threatening me and the said Lady with death. I've never met this guy and I don't have anything to do with him either. The last thing I want to do is fight over a woman that is not even my wife with another guy reason why I've never interfered in their issues. I have it at the back of my mind that I might still breakup with the girl anytime in the future.
He keeps telling the girl that its either he has her or no one will, that she and whoever is attempting to steal his joy away is playing with their lives. The whole issue is making her scared and confused. I asked her to get a recording of the guy making those death threats so I can use it as an evidence in the police station but he has stylishly been evading it despite the girls best efforts. He suddenly became calm and all apologetic now saying he will pray to God to destroy who ever wants to destroy his relationship after all his investments.
How do you guys think I should handle this issue amicably, I find it embarrassing when men bicker over a lady and never imagined myself getting involved in such. I've considered the option of leaving the lady for him but she really loves me likewise me. In as much as I don't want any issues with anybody, won't it be cowardly of me to hide in a closet while a fellow man threatens me with death. The way you write/sound, you seem to be like a good candidate for killing. If anyone ever tried this with me, he for don see, at least, verbal fire and I would have found out his address and location. I would then set police on him while also being ready to send boys on him. When you break 16 bones in your body, you will know you should not be messing with people. I would not only find your address, I would find your mother and father's address. You try shiiiit! NO ONE, will fuuucck with me like that in a lawless country like Nigeria. NO ONE! The heat I would put up your backside, you will run. Not this your yeye calm demeanour and confusion. |

Extrastiv01: Hello everyone, my name is not necessary, I am 28 years old and I am on the verge of losing my job but the important thing here is that sport betting is about to ruin my life and career and I need help and advise from you all. It all started when my friend Bolaji(not real name) introduced me to this popular sport betting platform last year which I strongly believe that 80% of Nigerian youths would know or even use on a regular basis.
I started playing games on this platforms with the little money I made from side hustles,it was cool because I could still remember my first game; I staked #2000 on a match between Liverpool and a smaller club and I cashed out massively that weekend. I was so happy and all of a sudden I became greedy. I began to stake higher and started looking for higher and better odds to boost my winnings, I started staking with my salary and then it got worse that I started using my life savings to play games in which most time I don't win but still I won't back out hoping I would win back all my lost money in the next game ,I would even borrow money from my neighbors and friends as a matter of fact, I got a new name on the street: (BABA 2 ODDS)
Last week, my boss gave me #150,000 to go and deposit at the bank but instead I transferred the money into my betting account wallet hoping I could double the money. I predicted realmadrid to win on last week champions league match against Chelsea, though they qualified for the next round but they still lost to Chelsea. I almost ran mad at the viewing centre. Anyways my boss has been calling me since and I couldn't pick because I don't know what to tell him..... Nairalanders I need your advise and help!!! Raymeg7: look at what u are writing, I don't think u have a job too, secondly frustration is disturbing u, look how ur crying in another man's problem, what is really ur problem over this issue, I never ask u for help, ur just a frustrated human being looking for where u will pour ur anger, now I see where ur coming from, I don't blame u my brother, is my kids, not your, u can't even stand my first son, had it been ur reasonable, I would have drop my kids picture for u, I'm far more better then u, I don't brag, but humble, humility should be our life, not coming out here with ur frustrating life, just because someone u don't know air his little problem, u capitalized on it and start saying rubbish All these do not answer any of my questions. They are just covering of irresponsibility and the associated felt shame. You have no business having 4 kids and it is irresponsible having that much kids in Nigeria. People in more advanced countries who earn 10+ times what you earn, and who live in countries where government support them with tax credits or welfare when unemployed, are not having more than 2 kids. Why will you be living in a suffering country, earn peanuts and have 4 kids? Another thing is that raising kids actually inhibits people from having free/loose capital for side hustles that can help improve their lives, then you now piled 4 on top yourself to feed with low salary? You are one of those people irresponsibly adding to Nigeria's burden. We don't have enough resources for the millions we already have, yet we are doubling in population every 20 years to have more people we cannot take care for. Now we are holding our stuuuupid asses wondering how we got bandits when we allow a region of the country that is dearth poor to reproduce, like rabbits, children that they cannot afford to raise because they say Allah tells them it is their duty. They produced and raised pure animals without any self-development or humanity development. You and your wife just doubled those to replace you in Nigeria. Irresponsible! You are part of our problem. Later you will be screaming government cannot give you good schools, healthcare etc. We are struggling to give such to the ones we already have, people like you are producing more? Later, you will be shouting the government is borrowing too much and wondering why they are borrowing? And you are saying it is none of my problem? Furthermore, someone with your thinking, writing and grammar levels should never boast of being " far better than me". That is just stupidity! |

Someone telling you facts you don't want to hear or highlighting your errors is not insulting you.
Secondly, you could not be possibly be giving them the best in Nigeria when you are unemployed, except you were making serious money before you became unemployed. I am sure about this.
Thirdly, I never made any bad or evil wish against, nor insulted, your children. I just told you what you and your wife's irresponsible choices can likely lead to. That is a probability statement, not a wish or insults. If there is any negative for your kids, it has definitely not come from me, it has come from their parents' choices. It is irresponsible having more than 2 kids in an uncertain place like Nigeria. I have a poor family member who make less than N60K a month living in Lagos having 3 kids. This is someone that was consistently asking for " assistance" quarterly from family members when he had just his two kids to feed, all of a sudden having a third and asking us to come for child dedication. I DID NOT GO!!! I am not celebrating irresponsibility. I have another that stays outside Lagos with income of N65K a month having 4 children, I had to ask him " Why?" " For What?". He was telling me he liked it raw and children are a blessing from God. Now he lost his job and na so so message for " assistance" to feed his kids; highlighting how they are suffering and he can't cope. Na me like am raw? Let him go to God for blessings. It is irresponsible having more than 2 kids in a shithole like Nigeria and it is a foundation for indirect child abuse if you are not ridiculously well paid and/or rich! You will not be able to give them the best life that modern times requires. In the modern times, things are more expensive and you need to keep up with the times for your kids to be competitive in future. Can you provide them with good education, which costs N500K+ per child per year in Lagos, or you are sending them to useless government schools with curriculum from the 80s?
Can you afford to buy all the textbooks and educational material all 4 need?
Can you feed them nourishing and variety of meals 3 times a day?
Can you provide 6 to 8 hours of light at home everyday?
Can you afford to get them 4 android phones so they are digitally current? If one of them loses his or is mugged, can you afford to replace it?
Can you afford 2 laptops for 4 of them to share, even if you can not get them 1 each? When they get older and spend more time away from home, they will need one each; can you afford it?
Can you buy them 10GB data each per month?
Can you afford to now pay for their time in university? Even if it is some shithole State-owned one in the North? (Travel, books, clothes, accommodation, feeding, events, nights out etc.)These are critical and essential in modern times and are becoming more expensive, while pay in Nigeria is decreasing in spending value because of Naira devaluation. Don't cover up and say I insulted you by stating that fact! Calculating all the needs falling out of those questions to give your 4 kids "the best" in Nigeria, I am already seeing a minimum cost of N4m per year to fund these 4 kids. Where you even making that in a year before you lost your employment? It is a parent's responsibility to work hard and ensure their children have better prospects than they (i.e. the parent) had growing up. The next generation's life must be better! You and your wife have created a probability that it is less likely for your kids. I hope it is not the case, but with the way Nigeria is going, I know where I would bet if I was betting. You have no business having 4 kids! |
