What's up people,
it does seem like everyone is talking about foxsoccer right now on this forum. it really is messed up that one is not sure which premiership match one is most likely going to watch at anytime with all these FTA channels on nss7, actually, they show the same thing as dstv, except for that damned RDV which ends up coding up on u just before the game, so foxsoccer is actually the FTA football lovers dream, well excluding champions league and la liga. but i guess it's a dream that's going to be difficult to achieve for some of us, cos i spent the whole of this morning trying to see if i could get my dish to connect to it to no avail (unless the c-band receiver or my settings are messed up).
i am now seriously considering buying HITV or alternatively, buying a 2,4m dish and making it motorized so i can get nilesat, hispasat, foxsoccer and nss7, then buying an irdeto cam and aljareeza card, so i can watch la liga, but that still leaves the issue of champions league unsolved.
well, its just a thought, somebody tell me what u think, after this site is for FTA in Nigeria right?

Hi everyone,
thanks gofitech for the reply, it would have been nice to be able to watch the live football on foxsoccer without having to make my dish motorised. also my installer is still insisting i can't get it with anything less than a 2.4m dish, though i could have sworn someone said earlier on in this forum that all one needs is a 1.8m dish facing west. i'll still call him later today to find out about putting a motor on this current dish.

PS:
Vickvicki, foxsoccer used to be known as sportsmax until a few months ago, though most people still call it by that name, i think twinstaiye or someone else said something to that effect in an earlier post.

are you also on nss7? if so how have you being enjoying it?
Enitan
yeah, i'm receiving nss7, and it's cool, i'm actually enjoying it more than the nilesat which made me buy the whole set up in the first place.

Gofitech,
are you getting your nilesat and foxsoccer using the same dish, if yes , is it motorized or stationary?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by Gangsta101(m): 7:27pm On Dec 16, 2007
Enitan
lucky you, couldn't take any chances with the matches today, so i had to go to town to watch them, cos my experience with RDV is that the always code up on me right after i sit down to enjoy a game.
it the la liga matches on jsc +1 and +2 that i really wish i could get access to.
anyway guys, still waiting on feedback on that foxsoccer stuff, tried it on my own yesterday but couldnt get any signal, wonder if it was the LNB i was using, so i want to hear from u guys first before deciding whether to buy a new one.

Hi everyone,
got a question for u guys watching foxsoccer, my installer claims i need a 2,4m dish before i can receive it and that would mean i have to give up nilesat position, which is kinda mean. now i know he's wrong about the 2.4m dish but the question is can i receive both nilesat and intelsat805 ( foxsoccer) at the same time, i.e without having to use a motorized dish?
secondly, for enigma and anyone else, i really am not clear on those biss and hex keys. let me explain my problem so maybe you guys can help me out. after inputting 8282 i see a column numbered from 1 to 200 and for hex (8280), it is numbered 1 to 60. do those numbers correspond to the channel numbers? also, there are sometimes two rows, and at other time 4 rows posted online, do i just type in the entire alphanumerics i see?
please guys, i am dying for answers.

u can watch premier league on foxsocer channel on 55 degree west and on digial plus packages on 30 degree west, although only limited channels are working for now, they are moving to nagra 3.

seems the foxsoccer channel is on intelsat805, hope its possible to get it with a 1.8 dish or less for the fans of the 90cm dish, cos digital+ on 30w is on hispasat which the experts claim u can't get with anything less than 2.5m. been trying to get my installer to come around and try out the 55w c-band stuff, seems i'll have to do it myself 2morrow. wish me luck.

tushman and jujukemist
so much beef, come on u guys, it's just a chat site, lets chat and not fight, pls keep it clean.

Hi everyone,
Jujukemist does have a point, all some of us seem to do is ask questions and then disappear, well, but u have to bear in mind that one can only contribute what one does have, and no shame in asking afterall, na the only way when some of us fit use learn anything at all be that.
sha-sha, it seems as if u can't install firmwares via a usb flash cos i tried doing just that this weekend but it kept telling me 'memory error'. but i was able to install some other smaller sized softwares. wonder if it has something to do with the size of the internal flash of the decoder?
it's funny how 3 channels were showing the chelsea v derby match by evening (mbi, gtv and one more i can't remember right now), while earlier in the day, u couldn't get to watch the liverpool or manutd games on any of the FTA channels, i mean if u are gonna block something, u might as well block everything. (chelsea fans wouldn't agree though)

Another thing is that i didn\t know the aljazeera sport channels available on fta didn't show la liga matches, i discovered when it was too late to do anything about it, i wonder how the keys to those channels are gotten?

anyway, i'm still trying to pass decoder101 - how to patch it with a new xoftware, guess i have to do that via a computer i guess.

Hi everyone,
and thanks for the response Enitan and Pitodenz. Unfortunately, It seems i've been too busy these last two days to come and check up on the responses, i guess being a Professional does have its downsides.
anyways, from what i understand from going through all the responses on this site, all i have to do is download one of the patches posted on one of the numerous satellitetv sites, transfer it to a flash and using the data transfer section of the decoder, upload it to the decoder, and input new keys as they come along. (somebody pls correct me if i'm wrong).
sorry if it annoys anyone that i'm repeating what seems rather obvious to some of u, but this is actually my first time doing this, and anyone else who comes along in future, would probably have an easier time understanding what to do.

Hello everyone,
i've been interested in this FTA stuff for a while and have been monitoring your discussions and those of others around me (i stay in Zaria) to make sure that when i do get around to installing one, i would make the best of it.
anyways i finally got around to installing mine last saturday. i bought a strong srt 4651, a 1.8m dish and 3 lnbs for nilesat, nss7 and that express one for nollywood.
now i guess it's fair to say premier league football and champions league are the primary factors that push most of us to want to install these satellite receivers though there are other nice channels that can help one unwind after a hard day.
anyway, what i'm really interested in is the issue of cracking these scrambled channels. from all i can gather from earlier posts and discussions with my installer, it seems i have to patch my decoder and then start downloading regular keys/softcam to unlock these channels.
now i'd rather ask questions that seem silly than destroy my decoder to prove i can also do something so please, if u guys can help me out here, i need to find out the following stuff.
1. How do i do the initial patching, do i download one of these sofwares (and which one) i am seeing at www.sat-television.com and install it via the usb hub of the decoder, cos i can't find any instructions/guide on that site?
2. how do i update the keys regularly?  i mean i see some keys on the net but they just seem like computer talk to me, and i can't quite figure out what to do with them or what they even mean, they just seem like strings of alphanumeics to me.
3. do i need any extra hardware apart from a usb flash drive to do all these installations?

i guess what i'm trying to say is that i would like to get a hang of this stuff, and would really appreciate it if someone were to put me through.
thanks a lot guys, and sorry for taking so much of your time.
