Olofofo, the water issue arises because the blades of your dish were arranged without taking the possibility of water accumulating into consideration. if you have time, or after you finish you nilesat business, rotate the dish in such a way that one of the junction lines is the lowest point of the dish, this will ensure that water drains down through the junction without disrupting your viewing, u can even use a nail or something to widen the junction line a bit. Pitodenz/any other person, please i need help, i wrote yesterday that a friends dish is refusing to open art channels even though it has been patched before, it is a 4651x decoder with an irdeto cam attached and aljazeera card. please your thoughts on the issue are welcome. Toxnaija/Obnelly, Okay, i understand why i am unable to get mbc persia, the signal levels toxnaija posted for mbc are far higher than mine. my dish is in a pretty messed up state at the moment, i will try and find time this weekend and sort it out, and see if my signal levels will increase. by the way does Etv show live champions league matches, i was thinking of mounting a 0.9m dish at my office so i don't have to run back home just to watch the champions league. Badaru1, congrats on your achievement, now that is the sort of thing we like to hear, i guess this is similar to the way Enigma described how people congratulate anyone who manages to get a H-tp in the UK. Even though JSC sports keys are not available at the moment, i am still curious about how u input them manually, please if u can get back to me i'll appreciate it. |
Badaru. is ur humax remote missing, these decoders unfortunately are designed in such a way that functionally they are useless without a remote control, iwas going to ask you about jsc sports keys, but seems you are out of the mix for now, hope you get ur remote sha. are those universal remote controls of no use?. all the best. |
Seuncyber, I just took the unusual step of reading through each and every one of your 10 posts on this forum, and everyone of them has been on this HITV issue, and have been on this thread, i initially thot someone must have ticked u off along the line, but i have seen that u just believe we (or rather some people) are just hoarding info from u, well, u r getting all the attention u want right now so i hope u r enjoying it. i am just going to repeat what someone else has already told u. if you are so certain your friend is receiving this HITV without paying any subscription, why dont you just ask him how he is doing it, maybe u can even come back and enlighten us. if not, just do what the rest of us are doing, go to lyngsat, look at the satellites that have FTA in this area, consult with your bank acct if necessary and get yourself a setup that can receive the best possible FTA affordably. One thing i know about this thread is that people are very free with info about new discoveries, there was a detailed daily info being posted here when some dstv freqs were transiently FTA, Toxnaija, once took the unusual step of posting art/showtime keys directly on this thread when they became available after a very long period. please lay aside this paranoia and get tracking, or just continue reading about what everyone else is doing. have a good day. |
iice, yes, Greg House's character can be truly comical at times, i guess what really strikes me is the way the guy submerges himself in the role so completely, at times, he is very excitable and quick witted, with him own particular (black?) humour, other times, he is just goes about acting like a child, like pouring water on Wilson while he was sleeping over, and being nasty to kids, so that when you watch him on Street kings, you are actually disappointed to find him as a low key, straight arrow almost emotionless int. affairs cop, characterless in fact. About E.R, now that was a series i know i used to watch only intermittently cos i had to keep returning to school, but the few episodes i watched really stood out, i know i used to like George clooney, then after he left, i thot that was all, but there was this other tall chap who later developed brain cancer that i later started digging his role, anyways, i was really more interested in friends and the simpsons then so anything that involved too much drama ( and that included star trek voyager) i only watched when others wanted to. |
Chasisgirl, african songs are a little harder to get, either less people have it or the issues of bandwith, i have been looking for Magic system's Tape dos for a while with no success, but then you idea is a good one, we could upload somebodys request that we have on rapidshare or someother such site and paste the link here or just IM it to the person (before those recording industry folks will start coming after someone). of the ones you listed, i only have Malaria, and not a very clear version, will look for them and get back to you. for me, i am also searching for Dj Marechal's Seka seka, Affo Love's Min si, and a couple of other coupe decale tracks that i can't really remember their titles, i know on one they keep going, 'boubaraba eh boubaraba', and the other is something like 'woloso azuebaguehi". oh and i almost forgot Bongos Ikwue's Otachi kpo kpo. actually there is a lot more, i hope this thread picks up. |
Joseph6:Ha ha, Eating is all about getting nutrients into your body, that doesn't mean it should be boring, that is why we have a variety of foods, with different style of preparation, and no two meals are ever the same. yes medicine is about saving lives, that doesn't mean it shoudn't be exciting, no two humans are ever the same, look for a friend that is a doc/nurse and take some time and stay in an emergency room for a half a day, when you get over the smell (really terrible sometimes), and can get up close to the decision making business, you might find it a bit less boring, but then again, each according to his own. But then i see what your problem with house is, for a show that has four full seasons out, you are basing it on just 1/4th of the available material, that means your judgement will definitely be poor as you don't have enough to go on, go out and borrow the second and third seasons and watch, afterall it is supposed to be entertainment, if at the end u still think it is boring, then you have every right to be critical, right now your criticism might be viewed as flawed. i have said i have watched only 3 episodes grays anatomy so saying anything about it is ludicrous, for scrubs, it has no intention of being a serious medical drama, just a parody of medical lives and i think it succeeds as a comedy. Iice, good comical or bad comical |
Hi Everyone, we all have songs we used to hear as kids growing up, but the world moved on in due course and even though other songs and artistes have come along since then, we can't just get them out of our heads. Sometimes we know everything about the song, i.e the artist, title, album, e.t.c, but in some cases all we can remember is probably just a line in the song or in some very bad cases, just the tune, and for those who are not really musically gifted, we can't really hum it out convincingly for someone else. and in Extremely terrible cases, all we know is there is a song we have always loved but we can't even get the tune. it is just there in the background torturing us until we hear it on the radio or something and come to an absolute stand still. well, that is the story of my life, ever since i got access to manageable internet connectivity, i have been on a quest to get all those songs. thank God for P2P agents like bit torrent, bearshare, and limewire, and the almighty google u can get access to just about anything as long as u know something about it. An example is the haunting tune from the movie 'The Generals Daughter', all i had to do was go to amazon.com and listen to all the midlets from the soundtrack on their site until i got the one i wanted and then i took down the details and just got it via limewire. Other times, it is not so easy, there was a time i spent 5 days going over the lyrics of just about every song that was ever on the UK top 20 in the months between February and November looking for a song that all i could remember was just a snippet and i couldn't boldly reproduce it for anyone. well after a lot of trial and error, i discovered it was 'Alane' by 'Wes'. the worst thing is sometimes when u finally lay your hand on the song, you might not really like it anymore, but there is a feeling of acheivement when u lay your hands on it. In some cases, you cannot even get the song online to download, an example is the New Jack Swing hit by Samuelle, 'so you like, what you see?' i can't get it anywhere, but now at least i know the name and title of the song. so folks, what song is it that you have always loved but never had? |
Olofofo, I concur with Enigma on that, i checked lyngsat after your post and can remember thinking u should not be able to receive in Nigeria, or at least not with a 1.8m dish. Enigma, Ok, i can understand that explanation. just one more thing about 'fringe areas', on the lyngsat maps, let's take a bird like nilesat for instance, after the bubbles with different numbers there is one big red curve which extends a little further outside, i have always wondered whether that is supposed to define the outermost margins of receptability of the sat's signal, so does this mean, anyone within the curve can theoritically receive the signal, and is 5.5m the maximum dish size required do you think? |
Olofofo, OK. i was under the impression obnelly was resident in Lagos, i guess i never really clarified that in my mindl |
olofofo:Hey friend, seems like u burnt a lot of money and got absolutely nothing for your troubles, but is your 2.4m dish still mounted and if i understand u well, it is now mounted on the ground, well, one thing i knw personally about ground-mounted dishes is that if the plane you are mounting it on is not really level, let's say it was inclined slightly, you might not get the desirable signals, i remember when i first mounted my dish myself after a storm blew it away, i could only get bbc, jsc sports and all those 10758 channels, for days i kept going back and tweaking with different aspects of the setup with no noticeable improvement until one day someone leaned against one side of the dish while i was tweaking and just like that the signals shot up and everything came back to how it was before the storm, i remember i had to put a screwdriver under it for a while, until i could find the time to level the ground and re-mount my dish. don't know if this will be of any help to you sha, but you can give it a go? Enigma what i was wondering about was why would the signal strength not be uniform in the first place afterall they are broadcasting for the same provider e.g showtime, some showtime freqs will be high, others low, it is the same thing on all sats as far as i know, so why don't they just make all signals to have the same signal strenght. well, i'm sure it is one of those things that just 'is', so no need wondering about it too much i guess. All. i had been sending a friend of mine keys for showtime/art but he kept complaining they were not opening anything, he uses a 4651x on which he recently added a card reader, i had patched the decoder for him a few months ago, and had even installed some keys previously which worked. well i told him to bring it over today and i tried but it kept saying 'scrambled channels', so i went online and downloaded a recent strong software with autoroll features for art and installed it, and still it couldn't open the scrambled channels. does anyone have a similar experience, please do share. |
Enigma/All I can confirm that showtime is presently down, while ART is back on, too bad, i was hoping to actually watch some football on showtime for the first time, only for me to get home and nothing doing! anyways, it was nice when it was still on, hopefully it will be back on after the premier league matches. About your not receiving H- signals, so you mean all the H- signals are not receivable, even with a 1m dish? (r u in the UK at the moment or still in N/Africa). I have always wondered why 2 freqs broadcasted by the same sat, to the same area, for the same provider will have different signal strenghts. for instance most of us receive the usual mbc 1-4 but cant get mbc persia, while for showtime, the signals for animal planet is pretty clear, while you can just about watch anything in the daytime on showmovies, well, since it's all FTA (or V), we'll take it as it comes. mfonemana:Ehm, who exactly is Chidexy? Enigma ![]() |
Joseph6:The problem with the first few episodes of House MD is that the characters were stiff, and seemed to just be reciting their lines, but it seemed as the show progressed, they got more into the roles and actually started shining. About Medicine being boring, i really doubt if you have had a lot of contact with medicine and diagnostics, it is far from boring especially when someones life is 'really' at stake. Just look at the amount of medicine related dramas that have been produced over the years, and their relative success, it shows there is something really interesting in it. Internal Medicine, which is what house is into be a very tricky thing but rarely ever depends on guess work as House and his team does it. In fact a medical professional would totally abhor the way diagnosis is made on that show, and yes, after a while it gets tiring that all the cases turn out to be solved in a similar pattern, patient comes in, they make an initial assessment and then start treating, patient gets worse and requires CPR/Endotracheal intubation/ICU care and then they run the entire gamut of medical tests they can and still find nothing and then house goes and sits in his office for a while, or something like that, and the solution would come to him and 'voila!' case solved. But the beauty of the series is not in the Medicine, but instead in the Characters ( or really character and that is why it is named that way). there is something about the human mind that makes us relate to someone who speaks his mind with total disregard for the sensibilities of the people listening, someone who is a total maverick in what he does and gets the job done, and someone who has a total disrespect for Authority and that is what the character gives. whether he is being totally obnoxious to a dwarf patient and her mom or being a smartass to a cop and judge, or shamelessly flirting (in an abusive and demeaning way) to his female boss, whatever it is he does, Hugh Laurie delivers it brilliantly and that is why the show is into its fifth season now. Mind u, the other characters are not just bystanders, Camron is so ramrod straight you get really irritated with her, that is the power of good acting, chase sucks up so much you just want to puke whenever you see him, Foreman and Wilson, dominated totally by house and yet constantly trying to get back at him in whatever way they can. and Lisa Cuddy, well lets just say she is getting better (and ?hotter) as the show goes on. Actually at towards the end of season 3, i thot the show was dead, and they were just trying to kill off the characters and the last few episodes of that season were actually pretty poor in my own assessment, cos it was all about house, but the writers and producers really made that season four something with the introduction of that extensive tryout-cum-interview. About the show lacking drama, man i'd ask you to look again, that is actually all the show has, little side dramas that make you actually look forward to the next episode. so much so that the Medicine is kept in the background. Mind you all their medical facts are right, it is just the way they go about diagnosing, and the fact that everyone is a surgeon, a paediatrician, gynaecologist e.t.c when they happen to all be internists that really sucks. Another thing we must not overlook is the very powerful soundtrack, appropriate songs for appropriate scenes, a wonderful blend of the old and the new, men, the soundtrack on its own is enough to make you like the series (if you are into music that is) In the end, guess it is either you like the Agnostic, obnoxious, foul-mouthed, do-it-my-way, yet highly successful diagnostician or you hate him. , that is what determines if you like that show or not.Unfortunately,i have never really followed Greys anatomy, i stopped after a few episodes, don't know why, so i can't really say anything about it. |
Obnelly, If u don wakeup, we need to know what type of decoder u r using, cos the info on the 'free to air codes' thread ecowas4all directed u to had its emphasis on the strong decoder, i enjoin you to read it again, everytime i go back over those posts i keep marvelling at how it really enlightened me. but whatever you do, always remember to Patch your decoder first before trying to input keys, the default strong software will not accept the keys you input manually, so u may be doing the right thing but nothing opens up. if you are lucky, the software u use to patch may have autoroll features and you will not need to enter in keys manually for a while. About the Nilesat, it is funny how u receive some freqs that i am totally unable to receiver e.g. mbc persia, but still experience low signal levels for some signals like aljazeera sports which i happens to be a constant high signal level TP for me. anyways, i still want to try and change the lnb to see whether i will experience better 'Gain' in the evening time when the signal levels for some of the showtime packages, CNN, and some other channels fall so much that they become unwatchable. i was at a friends place recently and he had a 4.0m dish which he was using for nilesat, and his CNN was so unbelievably clear that i was jealous, i am now planning to have someone fabricate a 6.0m dish for me as soon as i find a house to settle, so i can track some of these european birds, (yes i know i am dreaming, but then again, that is why this is a hobby). |
Toxnaija/Pitodenz/All We never really concluded on what decoder is actually the best for tracking far off birds like Nilesat, now the general consensus for a while had been that the Fuji lnb was the best, but Pitodenz you have always maintained that it was no better than the normal supermax with the dielectric end cut off, and i tended to agree with you cos i have such a supermax lnb and a friend of mine has the fuji lnb and our signals levels have always been comparable. the thing is i have neva really minded my present settings, but since the art/showtime keys have been available for a while, some freqs have not really been clear, such as the tps with showmovies, it is clear only in the mornings and worsens as the day progresses. also, obnelly receives some freqs which i don't and he is in the south, so since my dish doesn't require further adjustments, i think i need to change the lnb. so, my question is what is the LNB with the most gain in this environment? Toxnaija, u neva really got back to us about that new LNB u were trying out. how did it go? |
Ayewa, if you haven't sorted out your decoder probs, then let me know a few things. How exactly are you trying to load the patch and what is the error message you are getting? if you try to load it via usb and it tells you there is a 'memory error, it means you have to get someone who has a similar decoder to yours and also has the right cable (rs232) to load it into your decoder for you. if no friend has it, then u have to go down to an installer or all those guys who sell decoders along Kano road for them to 'load the software' for you. the first time is the most difficult/important, after that, you can do it on your own as frequently as u wish. all the best. |
About W3A, Up until a few months ago, i was using a 3-sat multi-LNB setup in Zaria and i was receiving Nilesat, w3a and NSS7, there was even a period of a few days when i managed to catch W4 in addition to the other 3 (the dish was facing east). However, in the last two months i have moved to Kaduna and since then i have been unable to catch the W3A in addition to the nilesat and NSS7, i think it is most likely because my dish is located under a tree so even though i have a clear enough line of sight to receive nilesat, i cant receive the w3a even if i use the entire 1.8m dish to face 7 degree east. the funny thing is i can get W4 by turning the dish a few degrees east, but i can't receive intelsat 7/10 when i move it farther down still. the whole thing is all very annoying. what i need is a full day free to really map the environment and see where the best place to mount the dish is. Twinstaiye, Were you able to open the showtime/ART packages at all? |
Ololofo, i see u have got a lot of aversion to the word 'guru' judging by your most recent posts. personally i don't like the word that much, but those who like it and use it freely have are well within their rights to do so, popular interpretation of the word translates to 'someone who has enough knowledge about a thing (practical and/or theoritical) to serve as a guide for others'. so technically u don't have to have an advanced degree in telecomms engineering to be a 'Guru'. And just because information on a subject is readily available makes it a subject everyone is knowleagable, if u look at a school environment, even though everyone has access to the same materials, some people end up knowing more about a subject just because they apply themselves to it more than others, or have a better aptitude for it. Another thing is that i doubt that anyone on this thread actively goes about calling himself a 'guru', u more often see it been used by someone else to describe another person, But you are right though, the 'Ego level' on this thread is Palpably high and is causing a lot of acrimony, but then again, wherever 2 or 3 are gathered, there will surely be some friction every now and then, just keep yourself above it all. No one has any real incentive to post on this thread, but we do it anyway, sometimes multiple times in a day. its just he fact that we all have a hobby we love and have found others with kindred spirit that makes us keep it up, if not why should people like Enigma and F_Marshal bother posting on this thread, like you said there are a million other FTA threads out there, and they don't even have the same problems as us where they are but i tell you for a fact, it is the LOVE that makes us all keep at it. Chilove, Just as Ololofo said, ur HITV is being broadcasted by eutelsat w4, at the moment there are no free to view channels on that bird. i assume that when u use the word 'tracking' you are most likely just using ur current position to search your decoder if there are free channels. But if you have the time and energy, you can do some real 'tracking' by moving your dish a few more degrees east and search for intelsat7/10, that is the next best thing in FTA in this region and it is relatively easy to get with even a 60cm dish (correct me if i'm wrong pls). you can get someone to accompany you while you are doing this, or check peoples profiles for their nos. and give them a call, i'm sure there are people who wouldn't mind taking the time to help you. all the best. All, i am finally watching showtime with my decoder, though i can't seem to open the ART/PHELA channels. also, Badaru, if u have the time, can you please give me some idea about inputting jsc keys, i tried with no success, i know it is a bit different from that of irdeto, something about having to input keys in two different encryption systems at once, i'll check up on it later, but please if you have the time, give me a little tut on that. oh, and by the way are the keys for jsc sports working right now, wouldn't make sence putting effort into something and not being able to know if you are doing the right thing. |
Iwes, WOW, the details in that is unbelievable, i will not pretend that i grasp every concept expressed there, but it really gives insight into some of what i have learnt in the last few months. what i'm not sure of is if it is someone else's research, yours or a combination of both (not trying to be petty), whatever sha, that was a good one. Badaru/Twinstaiye, I just left Kano road, where i went in search of the Humax decoder, i didn't get it, but i got something better, I got MY Decoder! Let me explain, if u guys can remember, i posted a few weeks back that i had gotten a decoder which was an ALI product and was very fussy about the whole thing, only to return a few days later and post that from all the information available to me, it was impossible to patch this decoder since it uses a very of ALI processor that was functionally unstable and didn't have support for decrypting channels. since then i have gradually grown to HATE the decoder and couldn't see anything good about it, so this afternoon when i went in search of the humax decoder and didn't find it, i went back home, got my decoder and took it back to the guy who sold it to me, with the intention of asking him to exchange it for another decoder, maybe the new strong. well after listing out all the various issues i had with the decoder, he calmly set about helping me solve them, he showed me how to manually input keys and after inputting keys for showtime, VOILA, it opened right before my eyes. anyways, it's nice to know i can finally open encrypted channels with it, though i still have to watch out for the possibility of it overheating. About the Humax, i have asked him to place an order for me, i will get back to you Taiye if it is possible to get it. F_Marshal, Nice to know you are still out there, it's been a while since we heard from you. don't be so harsh on that post though, i think he mentioned he is into fabrication, for those of us dreaming of getting a 5.5m dish to receive one of those Eurobirds, it is nice to know people like this are around. |
Badaru, The thing is that i have checked that area at least twice, although i have to admit that i didn't go to every shop sha, but i'll go back in a few minutes. do u have any shop in particular that i should check? |
Enitan/Toxnaija, No, there will be no diversion from the FTA issues being discussed here, because you guys are not going to start a posting war here, since u both know each other personally and have your personal nos, i suggest you call yourselves and thrash this thing out. Too many people here hold both of u in high esteem cos u guys are probably the most regular posters on this thread, so don't do any damage to your images, always remember 'Whatever you post on the Net, stays on the net' . Toxnaija, About the LNB stuff, there is this thing installers do when they are trying to install nilesat, they remove the dielectric plate at the base of the decoder and saw off the metal part that it is attached to before mounting, this gives a significant gain in the reception of signals originating from a distance such as nilesat, and can be the difference between receiving poor signals like showtime/cnn or not. if your new decoder is similar to the supermax decoder you can try this, or alternatively ask mide2008 to ask his friends if that was what they did. all the best. Badaru thanks for the info, i appreciate your taking your time to answer and with such good details too. it seems that decoder wouldn't be such a bad acquisition. but regarding that humax decoder, if i remember correctly u once said it can take the JSC dcw's, so do u still open jsc sports with it, and more importantly, how i did u get it, cos i have searched in four different towns but couldnt get it, and finally does it open ART/Showtime as well? thanks |
Badaru, Please fill in the blank spaces. when u say the 4661 is ok, do u mean it works just like the normal strong we know and are used to. are the screen displays similar, does it open encrypted channels like etv, does it accept softcams, or can u manually edit the keys by pressing 8282, is it like the normal strong we know, i guess that is what i am basically asking. another thing is the pvr function it has, have u been able to try it out, is it only flash drives it supports or does it take usb external hdd? quite a lot of questions bah, please fill us in if u can. also about the original strong decoders costing around N30,000. i seriously doubt that, cos that translates to above 200 dollars which isn't what i see been qouted at all these online sites, and since it is the mytv guys sponsoring it, it would account for why they are cheaper, but then again, i will not pretend to be knowlegable about that subject. |
All, We are in serious trouble in this FTA business. I think it was Pitodenz who first called attention to this business of fake strong decoders which looked exactly like the real ones it is impossible for even the officials of the mytv group to tell the difference. well, just like everything in the piracy industry the pirates have decided to take it one step further, Obnelly said something about buying a strong 4661x decoder which was a fake, well, i just finished doing a market survey after which i browsed the strong website and 1. Yes there is no strong product named 4661x/4663X 2. It is now the dominant decoder type sold in our electronic shops. And the cool thing is it seems to even have added features the normal strong decoders don't have, it is PVR ready . Though i never got to turn anyone on as the marketers decided i wasn't going to buy, also, it is cheaper than the strong decoders by more than N1000 . what i am wondering now is if the decoders work like the normal strong decoders with respect to inputting keys and stuff like that, whether the 8282, 6969, 8280 and other codes work. The problem with such pirated stuff is that the manufacturers pay less attention to standards than the original company, so the chances of hearing about fires and explosions from these receivers is a very real and present danger. The question now is 'HOW ON GOD'S EARTH ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET ANYTHING ORIGINAL IN THIS OUR COUNTRY ANYMORE?' ![]() |
Gofitech, Oh boy, i dey jealous you, i've got a friend coming in from the UK, on monday and he has run out of money, so he said he can't get me the USB dvb s card i asked for, so now i am looking into buying a desktop maybe this week and installing the PCI card i have. it is manufactured by lifeview, though on the case i think they wrote skystar or sky view, i can't really remember now. but one thing i do know, is that when i go through the installation sequence, while trying to select device it fails to install as either a lifeview device or a skystar device but instead as one with BDA drivers. the thing is that back then when i was trying to install that device i didn't have enough time and i was also 'borrowing' the system. if only i had gotten the usb one i would have used my laptop to try it out, but nothing spoil sha, i look into getting the desktop by the end of this week and try out the card again. there are so many movies to get these days and my starcomms connnection is so slow, it takes me up to 3-5 days to get one movie via bittorrent, and only to find out it is a telesynced movie or it can only be played with a specific type of media player. |
Obnelly you said you bought the 4663x decoder to open JSC + sports channels, is it with a valid card or via another means such as using softcams? Also, i went back home after reading your post and i am still not receiving any signals on the Tp 12341V27500 where MBc persia is supposed to be, although i freely admit my setup is not up to par at the moment, but i am record better signal levels than the ones u posted for other TPs but absolutely nothing on MBC persia, could you confirm for me that u r receivng it on the above frequency. |
soloqy:Sology, I stand corrected, i guess it was pretty lame of me to refer to it as a 'Messed up' program, just cos i can't stand it doesn't mean others can't or shouldn't watch it, my problem wasn't really the program they substituted it with but the fact that they started showing the match for sometime and then just went off the air without any explanations, and after repeated adverts, they just moved off to that soap. the thing is that, there are different kinds of 'High rating' programs. Yes i do agree that the soap gets more audience for them cos the fact that ladies and kids comprise 97% of their audience would make it dificult for any other program to contend, but the key to successful broadcasting is Predictability, if ur audience cannot be sure whether this program is going to be aired and completely, they would look for other alternatives (if available) or just blank you. Even the soap in question does have days where they repeat a previous episode and sometimes for no good reason. anyways, i should stop preaching to the choir, we all agree that AIT is messed up so enough of that from me. all i think from now henceforth i will attach the following remark at the end of everypost i make so we reduce the no. of questions being asked and encourage newbies to read through the previous posts. TO ALL NEWBIES ON THIS THREAD, PLEASE BEFORE YOU ASK A QUESTION ON THIS THREAD, TRY AND READ THROUGH THE PREVIOUS POSTS OR USE THE 'SEARCH' FUNCTION, BECAUSE CHANCES ARE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR HAS ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED EXTENSIVELY AND YOUR REQUESTED MIGHT NOT BE ANSWERED. ALSO, THERE IS A DETAILED F.A.Q ATTACHED TO THE VERY FIRST POST. SO PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST. THANKS |
To all, I do solemnly swear on this day the 17th of sept. 2008 A.D, that from now henceforth, i shall, as much as it is within my powers, totally avoid all that has to do with A.I.T, whether it be satellite tv or terrestrial, free to view (and definitely pay to view), or in whatever form it might be presented to me. failure to do so should result in my being viewed as a person of absolutely no value. so help me God. Imagine dashing home from work just because a.i.t were showing the games and the idiots switched from a live Champions league match (which they were even retransmitting from Etv in the first place) to show a messed up mexican soap. these guys have absolutely no idea what the concept of TV ratings and consumer satisfaction implies and they want to become a full fledged satellite tv provider, i really pity Nigeria, all these corporate bodies know they can give us absolutely nonsense and we would swallow it with gatratitude. well, i do blame myself, i should have finished setting up my dish properly cos at least one station on the w3a network would definitely have shown the champions league match, or alternatively i should have bought that dish and hooked up to 7/10 and i would have hooked up with the Etv directly. well, i don learn my lesson. |
Joker, Hope u don't take this as a reprimand but, please in the future if you need to make reference to a previous post, just highlight only the part or parts you are most interested in. Enitan's Post was a pretty detailed post and dealt with the subject matter in a very thorough manner, to duplicate it just to add a little footnote at the end only serves to increase the no. of pages this thread has. please don't take this the wrong way. Adewoyin, sorry i haven't gotten back to u wrt chatting on line, my windows live messenger has been refusing to log on for a while now. maybe i should open a yahoo addy and use yahoo messenger instead since i see that is what u r on. PS: it is not a very good idea to post your mail addy directly on the net, u can just add it to ur profile so anyone who wants to see it can reference it from there. |
Toxnaija thanks for the reply. Zaria is cool. though i've been in Kd for the last 2months now, but i still pop in every now and then. wheneva u return from the other side, u can come and visit. I've been thinking about getting a second dish for a while now. initially what i had in mind to do was to get a 2.4m dish and use it to track hispasat and nilesat, then use my current 1.8m dish to face the east and see what i can get, but after checking up on hispasat on lyngsat, i sorta got discouraged and gave up on the idea and have since turned my efforts to getting a 0.9m dish for 7/10, but looking at the c band channels on that bird, it might be worth it to get a bigger dish and face it towards the east and see if i can combine the w6 and 7/10. all the installers in the house, what do u guys say? |
Toxnaija, how many fta channels do u receive on w6? it requires a 1.8m dish and i am trying to convince myself to get one so i need to know if the channels on that bird will be enough to warrant the expenditure (and complaints that will follow the installation of another dish). also, i was wondering if it would be possible to combine the reception of that bird with that of intelsat 7/10 (as i do with nilesat and nss 7), it would definitely make it worth it, looking at the positions of the 2 birds, there is an angle of more than 45 degrees, but it seems to me like the 7/10 signal does not really originate from that 68 degree position but a little closer. so what do u think? |
about RDV In the early stages of last season, RDV used to scramble up just at the kick off of any live game, in fact, a lot of us stopped bothering with them cos u couldn't count on them, but after the first two or three months, they stopped scrambling their transmission and became no. 1 for watching football. this might just be a repeat of what happened then. by the way, those receiving that moroccan channel 2m monde or something like that, how is the football on that channel? Darkside and anyone else interested in Keys check out this link https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-114591.32.html on a sister thread, it just might be of help to you. you can try getting keys and other files from www.sat-hosting.com. i have found that the keys posted there are pretty much up to date. but make sure you have a good antivirus on your system before opening any zip files from such sites. |
Hi fellas, I recently wrote that i had laid my hands on a clone PVR receiver and listed out the features i had not including what i considered the downsides most notable of which was that i hadn't found a way to input keys for decrypting scrambled channels. anyways, i have done a lot of googling over the last few days and have acquired a lot of information which i am going to share with u guys now, who knows it just might help someone out. Now, most decoders have an embedded processor just like computers. these processors are what enables them carry out the decrypting function. now there are several manufacturers of these processors (just like for computers), but the most common one you will come across (for products meant for the European, Mid and Far East) is the 'Ali Chip'. this is manufactured by Acer Laboratories Incorporated of Taiwan. these are popular because they are cheap and reliable, and these days there are a lot of support for them. Now, as expected there are several models of these processors, ranging from M3307 to M3330. the most common brand is the M3329 series. actually, there are actually several 'brands' of this 3329 series but fori practical purposes, they are classed into 4 distinct groups. M3329 A1 a 216 pin IC M3329 B1 no. also 216 pins M3329 B1 DVR which has support for digital video recording M3329 E1 which is the most recent of the lot. Now, because of similarity of these chips you can actually take a firmware (software) intended for a product running one chip and run it on another product which has a similar chip, for example, lets say you have a strong decoder runnign 3329 B1, u can actually load it with software intended for a silvercrest decoder which also has 3329 B1 ( just quoting what i read!). but you cannot cross platform from one processor to another i.e B1 cannot be used on B1 DVR or E1 (C) the 3329 B1 and E1 (C) decoders are extremely well supported on line and are run by common decoders such as humax and dreambox, echostar e.t.c. but the A1 processors are said to be very dodgy, described as poorly designed with a tendency to overheat and hence perform very poorly whenever they try to run the algorithms to decrypt very good encryption systems, so you cannot find patches for them. Armed with this info i proceeded to open up my decoder and check up on the chip inside and to my utter disappointment, found out that it had the A1 chip, so no loading of keys for me on this baby. the funny thing is that if you load a softcam key (theirs come in .bin format as opposed to those for strong which come in .key format) via USB, it recognises the softcam but will not 'load' it ,citing memory errors. but all hope is not lost, mine comes with a multi card reader so right now i am going off to research into topics like Card sharing and the likes (Note: strictly for academic purposes). so the lesson is that before you buy a decoder now keep these things in mind (too bad we can't open all these clones to check what type of processor they have before buying them) |
Okaakoko, Usually on a forum like this, there are three reasons why a question might go unanswered, one, it is not clearly understood, 2. it has been answered before or 3. no one knows the answer. i just finally understood what ur problem was and it is just as enigma said, your dish is pointed towards the same direction as dstv, and u were gettting trendtv when it was free. however, whoever tuned it for u tuned it under intelsat cos that was how he knew how to do it. if you really love the trendtv like that, it seems you have to get their decoder/card.Enitan, If i may attempt to answer your question about transmission of HD signals, all formats of transmiitting satellite video in digital format is known as digital video broadcasting (DVB) the letters afterwards just reflects the target method of transmission, i.e -S for satellite, -C for cable, - T for terrestrial and now -H for handheld in areas where it is available. the standard format used for broadcasting in the MPEG -2 format thought i think this is different for the US. for HD broadcasting, they use the same format of encoding as used in HD DVDs, this contains much more info than the standard mpeg-2, this can be seen when u try recording the signals, a standard one hour program might come up to about 1 - 1.2 gig, while up to 2 -3 times that for HD broadcasts. so just as u can't watch an HD dvd movie on a standard player, u also require a HD enabled decoder to receive transmissions made in that format. About DAARSAT it seems to me those guys are feeling so good with themselves that they are going into satellite transmiision. they have paid no thot to the people they intend to broadcast to. going to HD format is all well and good, but all they are offering is just recycled stuff. i mean there is only very little available on their package that is not already being broadcasted via one of their rivals, so why would one want to switch to DAAR, moreover, apart from nat geo and disc, nothing else seems to catch the eyes, and that is already being broadcasted by dstv. why don't they just fuse with HITV or something and really have a package worth considering. at the moment in Nigeria, if i am going to pay for sat-tv showtime where it is available still remains the best option. but then again, that is just my own opinion. |

, that is what determines if you like that show or not.
. what i am wondering now is if the decoders work like the normal strong decoders with respect to inputting keys and stuff like that, whether the 8282, 6969, 8280 and other codes work.
