Science/Technology / Google X Balloons Will Circle The Earth To Deliver Internet by garamah: 5:33pm On Sep 26, 2014 |
A ring of balloons circling the Earth could begin delivering Internet service to mobile phone users in the Southern Hemisphere sometime in 2015. That's the vision of Google's Project Loon, an effort to get billions of people living off the grid in remote regions to join the rest of the world online. The latest news about Project Loon comes from Astro Teller, head of the Google X lab, during a talk at MIT Technology Review’s EmTech conference in Cambridge, Mass. “In the next year or so we should have a semi-permanent ring of balloons somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere,” he told the audience. Google hopes its solar-powered balloons can use the LTE protocol of cell phones to provide wireless Internet at a rate of 5 megabits per second to mobile users—or as much as 22 Mbps to fixed antennas, according to Technology Review. The Internet giant has already begun holding trials in New Zealand and Brazil, Teller said. But Google has more than one trick up its sleeve in its mission to spread Internet services worldwide. The Internet giant has either direct ownership or at least a strong stake in most of the five technological options previously highlighted by IEEE Spectrum as being capable of delivering wireless Internet services to the most remote corners of the Earth. For instance, Google plans to invest billions in swarms of satellites capable of providing Internet services to regions in both hemispheres. Google also bought the startup Titan Aerospace, which plans to deploy high-flying, solar-powered drones capable of acting as "atmospheric satellites." Such flying platforms could complement the satellites and balloons in blanketing the globe with Internet service. All these efforts could enable Google to reach the next several billion Internet customers who don't yet have access to reliable Internet service on their cell phones or other devices. But Google is not alone in the race to extend Internet to more people: Facebook also wants to extend its reach to those billions of untapped customers. The company previously flirted with the idea of buying Titan Aerospace, but has since launched its own in-house drone effort called the Connectivity Lab. The Connectivity Lab aims to begin testing its own version of high-flying, solar-powered drones next year, Wired reports. Eventually, Facebook wants to deploy its drones to 21 locations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America sometime between the next two to five years. That means the five billion people still living offline might soon get to choose between two of the world's largest technology giants as their Internet providers. |

On the multiple application issue, when the site was still bad I registered and submitted successfully but no application/centre number was displayed and I retried that severally without success before the site was put in order that allowed me to do another application successfully. What is my fate in this dilemma now since it was due to the non workability of the site? |
Education / Re: Six Most Expensive Secondary Schools In Nigeria (alarming School Fees) by garamah: 2:27pm On Aug 24, 2014 |
Attending the most expensive school does not make you brilliant, a brilliant person is brilliant irrespective of where he attended his/her school. In fact most of these expensive school students can't stand the community school students when you expose them to the same condition in the higher institutions of learning. |

3- type of wedding traditional, white or Church and court, simple and you can only do one out the three otherwise is repetition. It's better to do the traditional wedding cos that's the real wedding others are just notice me, moreover doing a Church wedding is unbiblical as a Christian, traditional wedding is the God's designed type period. But if you want a certificate for international dealings, go for a court wedding. 1 Like |

@tecno4life; Mr English, I'm not an English man so you shall expect blunder cos even you Mr perfect I know speak errors out of Ten words you speak in your mother tongue. Mind you when I said on the sea I mean in a small canoe or boat moving or floating on sea water and when I said inside sea I mean sea as a body of waters. Idiot what do you know about sea, even if you have PhD in oceanography I will still tell you what your Professors don't know about sea, I'm speaking from practical experience not book experience. No time for argument Mr know it all. |
Health / Re: I Started The Saltwater Ebola Cure Rumor I Truely Am Sorry by garamah: 4:24pm On Aug 08, 2014 |
first of all those of you that are condemning salt on skin, from the natural school of medicine there is absolutely nothing wrong with salt except you have bastardized your organic and biological cells with unnatural, imported, foreign and artificial cells that react negatively with the natural and organic formation of your genetic configuration; reason is from my practical experiences I knew thousands of people that used 85% of their lifetime inside/on sea and they happened to lived an average of 95yrs without any medical or health issues( no stroke, hypertension, eyes, heart/kidney/liver diseases etc.People that lived natural lives lived longer and healthier than people that lived scientific lives. Secondly, whoever that's responsible for whatever false information about a dreaded issue like Ebola are as devilish as the demon/satan. Shame on you, your mates are out there researching for solution and you busy joking about it. You're an advanced/technological/innovative fool of the highest order. 1 Like |

fiizznation: jst zip it dere. Now hear urself. He wants a beta north.. The so-called prof is the hypocrite, is his sw beta than the north ? The north is a 100 times beta than the sw in terms of development. The only state in the sw that is developing in the sw is lagos, and daz even bcuz the state was a former capital. U can't compare ogun to kadauna, or compare ekiti, ondo, osun states to states in the north like kano, niger, bauchi states in terms of development.. Modern fool, it is only a fool that despises correction and instruction, how many states in Nigeria that the rich take decisions for mass in terms of how they live their lives, that you only see people in govt offices only at the end of the month, education system is zero, mentality/mindset is negative and (9th century mentality) anachronistic, one rich man in a town/family we never think of how to others how to catch fish but only give them fish so they can all be under his/her subjection. The Ondo, Ekiti etc that you mentioned are far better than any northern state because the citizens have a developed and innovative mind. As I'm writing this, I'm in one of the northern state. Examine these things critically. |

fiizznation: hear dis swine. And which power does lagos give any state in the north ? Mehn I hav always told many folks that majority of the so-called educated elites in the south r mere educated illiterates. Hav u ever heard of shiroro hydro station or the kainji hydro station which generates power to almost every state in nigeria!!! Kai. Hey chronic mallo was those dams built by the northerners or by the govt and moreover these dams were there because of the inability of the ruler then to think technically so they make use of naturally available rivers for dams. |

oche_ejemb: Unless BIS changed recently on older phones as well, you can't use BBM without an active BIS subscription. Maybe they changed the rules since everything can connect to BBM now.bbm just like every other social network BIS or no BIS it works whenever your phone is connected to the internet either through WiFi, WLAN etc. bis is not an internet source it's an internet package from the ISP. |

Good if the lecturers are not ready to do their jobs to hell with them, let the capable hands of the 21-first century and innovative graduates Nigerians who are ready to work take up the job. They are tired and don't know how to cope with the trends in modern educational system, they are outdated. |
