PoliticsRe: APC Denies Return Tickets To Rivers Reps Loyal To Fubara by gare(f): 8:20am On May 16
Dobnews:
Two serving members of the House of Representatives from Rivers State, Awaji-Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead, have been denied clearance to contest the All Progressives Congress primaries scheduled for Saturday.

The lawmakers, alongside Air Commodore John Opera (retd.) and Anderson Igbiki, were listed among aspirants disqualified by the party ahead of the primary election.

Reports indicate that the affected politicians are loyalists of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The development was contained in the final list of aspirants released by the APC leadership on Friday.

Meanwhile, 21 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, including Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who is contesting for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat.

Amaewhule is seeking to replace House Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda.

Confirming the development, Rivers APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, urged all aspirants to comply with the party’s final list ahead of the exercise.

The latest development is expected to fuel fresh political tensions in Rivers State as the struggle for control ahead of the 2027 elections intensifies.

[quote author=ElevationD post=139408620]You seem to believe that Wike is the only one making political plans, but it may surprise you in the end. You are being hypocritical. Several other governors have had disagreements with the individuals who supported them into power, yet they are no longer together today.
Examples can be seen in Kano, Kaduna, and Akwa Ibom States, where governors eventually fell out with their political benefactors, but nobody constantly labels them as ingrates. The situation with Fubara is being singled out mainly because Wike is very vocal about the matter.
At the end of the day, politics is dynamic, so everyone should relax and allow events to unfold naturally.

They certainly would not have dropped him at that level. They are waiting for him at the primaries, to give him the Ambode treatment. With the direct primaries, they will vote him out and fix Wike’s candidate.

If Fubara gets the APC ticket, Wike and his group will team up with PDP to defeat Fubara.

Fubara is definitely between the devil and the deep blue sea.

I strongly believe that a well organized NDC will this time defeat Wike and his co-sojourners.
If Fubara gets the APC tickets, there is nothing Wike can do, if he pushes his luck too far then the federal government will deal with him, take a cue from El rufai

Battle for NDC Ticket Begins as Patrick Ashikodi Emerges to Challenge Peter Obi

Delta politician and social crusader, Hon Patrick Ashikodi on Wednesday declared his intention to run for the presidential election under the platform of the National Democratic Party (NDC). Ashikodi, popularly called "The Political Messiah" made the declaration in a press conference which was held in Abuja, the nation's capital.

See details below:

Hon. Patrick Ashikodi Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition Under NDC

By Emeka Esogbue

ABUJA — Nigeria’s political landscape witnessed a major development on Wednesday as Hon. Patrick Ashikodi, the prominent social crusader and Delta State political figure, officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Addressing a packed hall of journalists, supporters, and party faithful in Abuja, Ashikodi popularly called “The Political Messiah” by his supporters described his presidential bid as more than a personal ambition, calling it a “leadership revolution” aimed at redefining governance in Nigeria.

During his official declaration, Ashikodi said his decision to enter the race was driven by conviction and a desire to challenge long-standing political structures that, according to him, have hindered the nation’s growth and progress.

"My mission is to offer a new direction,” Ashikodi stated.

"We are here to provide a credible alternative that prioritizes diligence, transparency, and a radical departure from the politics of old. I am fully prepared to participate in the primaries and earn the mandate to serve this great nation.”

His declaration is expected to intensify political activities within the NDC ahead of the party’s primaries, as he joins other notable figures positioning themselves for the party’s presidential ticket, including former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.
Responding to questions from journalists on whether his late entry into the race could affect internal party cohesion, Ashikodi dismissed such concerns, insisting that his candidacy would strengthen rather than divide the party.

“I am not here to disrupt, but to fortify,” he explained.

"My entry ensures that the ADC produces its strongest and most prepared candidate. We are increasing the party’s political weight and ensuring that the selection process is robust enough to secure victory at the general election.”

Ashikodi’s political journey dates back to 1992 when, at just 19 years old, he served as Secretary of the Delta State campaign team of the late Engr. Layi Balogun. His early involvement in political mobilization and grassroots organization quickly earned him recognition across the Niger Delta region.

Building on that foundation, he later contested for a seat in the House of Representatives, distinguishing himself as one of the youngest Nigerians to seek a federal legislative position at the time. Supporters say his longstanding political experience and grassroots appeal form the backbone of his current presidential aspiration.

A native of Ibusa in Delta State, Ashikodi is widely regarded as a politician with a blend of grassroots influence and intellectual depth. As the NDC primaries draw closer, political observers are watching closely to see how his “leadership revolution” message resonates among party delegates and the wider electorate.

For many analysts, the forthcoming primaries may serve as a defining moment for the NDC, a contest between established political forces and the reform-driven movement championed by the Ibusa-born politician.
I dont trust this guy, looks like some sent by either APC or Wike to NDC.

PoliticsRe: Why Jonathan, Obi, And Tinubu Can’t Fix Nigeria With The Way It's Structured by gare(f): 10:29am On May 08
No
KendoXR:
The news is buzzing again, Jonathan, Obi, Tinubu, 2027 politics everywhere.

But honestly, none of these men can truly fix Nigeria with the way the country is structured.

We spend years arguing about elections while abandoned projects, rolled-over budgets, and failed policies keep piling up. A project starts, people complain online for one week, then everybody moves on.
No documentation.
No public memory.
No accountability.

That’s why I’ve become more interested in citizen-driven spaces like Majoori, where people try to document local projects and discuss what’s actually happening in their communities instead of only arguing during election season.

Because if citizens don’t build accountability culture themselves, 2027 may just become another cycle of promises.
So it's only tinubu that can fix it
PoliticsRe: Gov Uzodimma Still Chairman Of Progressive Governors Forum - Aluko by gare(f): 10:23am On May 08
Dreal1247:
Where are all these fake news coming from then. It's obvious that some people especially from Wike's camp are no longer comfortable with Uzodimma. Meanwhile, disagreement amongst politicians always create room for better governance as the politicians then shift their focus on individual and selfish activities to the people's welfare.
It's from Wike's camp we all know that, his desperation is too much, very soon they may come up that tinubu has resigned. The president needs to do something about this Wike.
PoliticsRe: Governor Mbah Has Emerged As The New Chairman Of The Progressive Governors Forum by gare(f): 8:30am On May 08
Dreal1247:
Let's know the relationship between Mbah and Wike, then we understand where the change is coming from. Meanwhile, Governors must know that Wike is only interested in his selfish interest and doesn't care to know whose ox is gored. If fubara is a good politician, he will surely outsmart Wike.
What exactly is Wike’s business with the APC Governors’ Forum? Some of you make it seem like Wike is so powerful that he determines who becomes chairman of the forum, as if the APC governors cannot make decisions for themselves.

Does that mean all the governors are helpless or incapable of deciding on their own? It’s becoming excessive how every political development, whether good or bad, is linked to Wike.

Meanwhile, the situation with Fubara in Rivers State already appears to be giving him enough political pressure, yet people still believe he controls everything happening at the national level.

To make it clear, the nomination reportedly came through Hope Uzodimma, especially since the position was zoned to the South-East. Not every political decision in Nigeria revolves around Wike.
PoliticsRe: Defections Hit Apc, Pdp As Lawmakers, Politicians Join Adc, Ndc by gare(f): 8:24am On May 08
Willy2025:
All these ones decamping are retards or APC rejects with zero electoral values. The only party befitting them is NDC so that they can soundly defeated cheesy
NDC does not have structures anywhere in the country except Yenagoa and Seriake Dickson house in Abuja. Is that the party or people to be taken seriously grin
You people are bringing up the “structure” argument again. The same thing was said about Peter Obi and the Labour Party in 2023, yet he performed beyond expectations nationwide. Many Nigerians still believe he won the general election but was rigged out.

Even without the so-called political structure, he defeated Tinubu in Lagos, despite all the established structures and influence there. That should tell you something.

The real structure is the people, not the greedy politicians who are paid to manipulate elections. Nigerians are becoming more politically aware, and things are changing gradually.

Don’t worry, 2027 may come with surprises that many people are not expecting.
