Car Talk › Re: SUV With 235,300 Miles Mileage...is It Worth Buying? by GAZZUZZ(m): 8:02pm On Dec 06, 2014 |
youngalex: My bosom friend is about closing a deal on an Hyundai SuV(Santa Fe) with about 235,500 miles in the odometer is it wÓrth buying considering the fact that the engine capacity might have been weakened with such a long distance already covered by the car Depends on the price of the car/engine. But 235,500 miles nigerian standard is a lot of miles. Original owner has already used up more than the half life of the engine. If a replacement engine is cheap, go for it. If not its not worth it. How much is the vehicle? How much is the engine? |

Miriam78: Yesterday driving home the transmission went out on my '02 Rav4. I lost the Drive gears and made it home in Low 2nd. Went online and discovered it is a common problem with 2001-03 Rav4s and is actually caused by a bad ECM (Engine Control Module). I called the dealership in the morning and they said it would be nearly $5,000 to replace the ECM and transmission. This is really bad for a Toyota with only 75,000 miles. Looking for information about repair I can bet the OP is autosbay. This is becoming sick, lomomike please look into this. |

afope: hello Gazzuz,
Nice thread... please which OBD II scanner can I get for my 2004 4runner? I understand that some scanner that support CAN protocol (i.e Maxi scan MS509 OBD2 Scanner) might make some error light come up on the dashboard once it is connected to the OBD port. My car is not currently showing any error light, I just wanna scan it and see if anything is wrong.

Car Talk › Re: Why Has This TCS/ABS Light Refuse To Go??? by GAZZUZZ(m): 9:51am On Dec 05, 2014 |
lonelydora: My good people of Car talk, I urgently need help on how to clear this dashboard light. Remember, I bought about about 3 sets of brand new ABS sensors, it didn't help. I decided to go for Tokunbo sensors, which I was present when they disconnected it from a car. We tested the car and confirm it was ok.
The greatest issue is that when I scan atimes it won't pull up a TCS/ABS CODE. If it eventually pulls up, I try to clear the code which will clear but after like 20 minutes of driving it comes up again.
Anyone with info on what I can do, please help me. I'm tired of changing the sensors. I don't like seeing light on my dash.
Thanks in advance for your contributions. Do a live scan on abs, allow car move not more than 20km/ph check wheel speeds of individual sensors to see which is failing. |

lomomike: WTF! ! You raised your SUV and you didn't put a platform beneath the raised area. Just the light duty jack (your truck uses heavy duty truck jack) and some random dude with suicidal tendency had the guts to go under to fiddle with components? What if the jack fails or the heavy vehicle rolls and crush the guy under? Jeez! As for your 'AIRS' they are meant to be in that truck and no springs. Lexus intentionally put AIRS for self 'leveling' and 'kneeling' and raising especially during higher speeds, offroading or when there is a heavy load in the truck. If you can't make a purchase for a new 'AIRS' kindly do another car with springs for what you're doing to that truck isn't justice. Mind you, those coilovers isn't gonna be 'smooth de silk' of a ride in that truck. Lol @ bolded |

Crime › More Good News Timed Bomb Defused In Jos!!! by GAZZUZZ(op): 6:40am On Dec 05, 2014 |
RESIDENTS and passers-by at a spot at Laranto in Jos North local council of Plateau State scampered for safety Thursday when security personnel confirmed an object carefully hidden in a polythene bag and placed in front of Fatima Primary School, Laranto, to be a time bomb.
The school is adjacent to the School of Electronics, former Tin City College, Laranto, which is also close to the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
An eyewitness and Bursar of the School of Electronics, Mr. John Ella, told The Guardian that a Fatima pupil of about eight years old spotted the strange object at abound 7.00a.m and informed his teachers, who did not waste time getting to see the object themselves.
From a reasonable distance, they confirmed that the object was indeed strange, so they contacted the Laranto Police Station, which men as well rushed down to the scene and confirmed the object a time bomb.
The police, according to him, cordoned the road leading to the school, while the Anti-Bomb Squad quickly came and defused it. Contacted, the Headmistress of the Fatima, who would not give her name for fear, promised to call back after speaking with her boss in the Ministry of Education.
Meanwhile, Ella said the bomb must have been planted there very early, adding that an electricity power official saw the bomb but could not talk, and that when he eventually summoned courage to tell his colleagues, they dismissed the information as unrealistic until the police confirmed it a bomb.
“You don’t know how many lives would have been lost if the bomb had exploded!” Ella exclaimed. “There are two schools here and a NEPA headquarters. Only God knows what would have happened. It would have been a different thing entirely. You don’t know what this small boy has done to humanity.”
Reacting to the discovery, Spokesman of the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, said the body was aware of the happening and that it was the soldiers who invited the Anti-Bomb Squad to defuse the bomb before it detonates.
“My advice to residents and people of the state is to be watchful and alert of their movement and action. They should not pick up any shining object like that. They should report strange objects to security personnel. People should be security conscious,” he said. https://www.theguardianmobile.com/news_images/nigeria-police-anti-bomb-squad.jpg source : http://www.theguardianmobile.com/readNewsItem1.php?nid=37528 |

Crime › Ogwuche Sues SSS, Seeks N100m Compensation Over Detention by GAZZUZZ(op): 6:31am On Dec 05, 2014 |
SMARTING from his discharge from trial over his alleged complicity in the April 14, 2014 bomb blast in Nyanya, outskirts of Abuja, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche has challenged what he termed his continued “illegal” detention by the State Security Service (SSS).
He therefore prayed the Federal High Court, Abuja Division to compel SSS to pay him the sum of N100 million as compensation for his unlawful arrest and detention without trial.
Ogwuche approached the court through his counsel, Ahmed Raji (SAN) with an application pursuant to Order 2, Rule (1), (2), (3) of the Fundamental Enforcement Procedure rule and Sections 34, 35, 36, 37 and 42 of the 1999 Constitution seeking for the enforcement of his fundamental human right.
Joined, as defendants are the SSS and the Attorney General of the Federation AGF. But, the court struck out AGF’s name on the request of the applicant.
Arguing his application, Raji submitted that it was based on the request of the Federal Government that the Interpol placed a red alert on the applicant contrary to the impression that it was the Interpol who did so.
He also drew the attention of the court to the fact that the charge on which Ogwuche was arrested and detained had been struck out by the court for “lack of diligent prosecution.”
He said the charge was the foundation of the extradition order, which led to the arrest of the applicant.
Raji further noted that it is assumed that the state had concluded all its investigations before requesting for the extradition order.
However, he contended that further detention of the complainant in the SSS custody without arraignment is illegal and pre-judicial.
He contended that the ex parte order gotten by the SSS to detain the applicant for 90 days was a miscarriage of justice.
He also contended that Section 27 of the Terrorism Prevention Act cannot override the provisions Section 35 of the Constitution, which preserved the right to liberty of every citizen.
He however urged the court to compel the SSS to release the complainant conditionally or unconditionally, admit him to administrative bail or arraign him within 48 hours of the judgment.
He also sought for the sum of N100 million damages.
The SSS counsel, Clifford Osaghie will this morning respond to the applicant’s submission.
The court had last week struck out the two count criminal charge bothering on terrorism filed by the police against Ogwuche.
The trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola had earlier struck out the charge brought by the police for lack of diligent prosecution, having been absent in court for two consecutive times.
At the early stage of the trial, there was confusion between the SSS and the Police on who to prosecute Ogwuche.
But it was however resolved that the Attorney General of the Federation will prosecute the accused but no charge has been filed from the AGF office, though the Director of Public Prosecution is always in attendance in court.
Counsel to Ugwuche orally prayed the court for an order granting the accused person access to his lawyer, family members and his doctor.
Counsel to the SSS, Clifford Osaghie did not oppose allowing the lawyer and family to visit the suspect, but however, objected to allowing a doctor to visit him.
He submitted that the service has a standard clinic and in the event of any illness, the accused will be referred to the National Hospital.
In a short ruling, the court held that the accused person should be granted access to three lawyers, and two of his family members- his wife and brother.
The court added that the service should ensure adequate medical treatment be administered on the accused and in the event of any illness, he should be taken to the National Hospital for treatment.
The accuse person had hinged the application seeking to enforce his fundamental right on ground that the SSS have kept the accused person for too long without arraigning him.
