PontiacVibe: So I've been following the Car section on nairaland for a while and one popular name on this Car Talk forum is Gazzuzz.
He is reputed to be one of the trustworthy Car Mechanic on this forum although some other persons may think otherwise.
Well, I threw caution to the wind and decided to engage Gazzuzz to help me get a Car from Lagos which will be shipped down south.
So this thread is about my experience with @Gazzuzz.
Towards the end of 2021, I contacted Gazzuzz about my plan to get a Pontiac Vibe for my wife, we had a conversation on WhatsApp and he gave me an estimated #2.6+ M based on the last one he supplied for a client, This is not inclusive of other professional charges.
So fast forward 3 months later, I was ready for this transaction as I have earlier seen an ad for a clean Toks online, after interacting with the seller, I handed his contact to Gazzuzz to help finalize the deal.
So, from there Gazzuzz Stepped in. • VIN Check (Rebuilt Title but the car was well maintained) • Physical Inspection & Scan (Mileage Rollback, Catalyst burnout, Some superficial rust) • Verify Custom Papers (OK) • Verdict (Car will make a good buy and the price the seller was willing to sell is ok) • So, I transferred the agreed sum to Gazzuzz ....Car was Bought, documentation was done, and driven to his Workshop. • Routine Servicing (Oil Change, Air Filter, Cabin Filter, Transmission Oil, Catalyst Emulator) & interior detailing. • Vehicle Registration & He recommended comprehensive Car insurance which was done.
Of course, I paid for all this service (Bill was however on the average, not like what some nairlanders were saying about his charges)
So, time for car delivery he informed me the fee to deliver the car for me was higher than what he anticipated as his contacts were calling a higher amount and suggested I get an alternative. Well, I sent in a trusted friend who came to Gazzuzz Mechanic Shop got the car & delivered the next day.
So, my verdict with Gazzuzz • If you are worried about someone swindling you of your soft earned money while shopping for a Car you are Safe with Gazzuzz. • Gazzuzz is professional with his services, he runs a standard mechanic shop in Lagos. • Be ready to also pay some soft professional fees for his services because he is not your regular Kazeem, He still needs to pay shop rent. But be rest assured you will get good value for your money and enjoy peace of mind.
A good name they say is worth a million and Gazzuzz has made a good brand for himself on this platform.
Will I recommend Gazzuzz to anyone?? The answer is Yes!! If you are not on a very tight budget and you need a trustworthy Car Mechanic, you are safe with Gazzuzz.
Thanks for the trust, thanks for the review, always at your service.
raymondhillmimi: Please I need guidance on what to do. My car drives well except for the check engine light which comes up after about 2 weeks or few days after refueling. The car also hesitate to fire, about a second delay when I accelerate. After scanning the scar with my OB11 scanner these are the results. It’s an ES350.

Summary.
* Misfires on cylinder 5.
* There is not thermostat and fans possibly connected directly .
* There is no catalyst on both banks.
These codes will show after 10miles of consistent driving .
Promxy94: Thanks sir, does it mean that, i should remove my catalyst, because i heard replacement is expensive, which i dont have the money now, and i also don't want my engine to fail or spoil.
Like the thermostat, the cooling fan has to be controlled so that it allows the engine to maintain a constant temperature in most cars like my peugeot 406 the fan starts up around 87-88 degrees Celsius and stays on until the temp drops to 79degress.
Front-wheel drive cars have electric fans because the engine is usually mounted transversely, meaning the output of the engine points toward the side of the car. The fans are controlled either with a thermostatic switch or by the engine computer, and they turn on when the temperature of the coolant goes above a set point. They turn back off when the temperature drops below that point. Rear-wheel drive cars with longitudinal engines usually have engine-driven cooling fans. These fans have a thermostatically controlled viscous clutch. This clutch is positioned at the hub of the fan, in the airflow coming through the radiator. This special viscous clutch is much like the viscous coupling sometimes found in all-wheel drive cars.
Connecting the fans to work all the time when the engine is running is bad for the engine and will reduce engine life and cause engine to burn more fuel.
Promxy94: @Gazuzz please my mechanic and oanel beater said one of my catalyst is blocked, and that it should be removed or it will damage my engine. Please how true.
Seyork4real: Good morning, I bought a Nigerian used Elantra012 and the fan is on steady run, and I just changed my engine and I asked my mechanic to install the thermostat inside the engine because I don't want my fan to be running all the time. But the mechanic advised against it. His explanation is that, since I changed the engine, the car system has been altered that I need to put the fan direct. What do you think sir?
Installing a thermostat and returning fans back to normal is the standard.
But
Are other components of the cooling system still in above average condition?
If you have been using water in your coolant lines for a long time there is a possibility the Aluminum parts must have corroded especially at joints where rubber meets Aluminum.
Corrosion causes leaks, which in turn causes overheating.
Also if your coolant rubber hoses are old, they could rupture without notice.
Restoration of your thermostat and fans will restore high pressure to the coolant lines , but if your system cannot handle it, there will be leaks and ultimately be fine failure.
It's one thing to follow standard operating procedures.
It's another to have a functional vehicle that consumes a little more petrol .
Timopea: My friend wants to sell for me for 1.6m and the engine is not good. Car is very clean, should I buy it and fix the engine ? I'm currently using a 2004 corolla
Let me inspect this vehicle for free for you.
After that you can decide if you want to buy it or not.
Anywhere in Nigeria , this offer expires 12midight today.
For the same year model Volvo cars as the 03 - 08 corolla for eg:
If your water runs low while driving, you get a notification, no way your car is overheating without your knowledge
If your engine oil goes low while driving, you get a notification, no case of driving till oil dries up and knocks engine
If your oil pump is getting weak and oil pressure gets low while driving, you get a notification
If you have a low engine performance (misfires, coils, plugs, etm, fuel pressure), you'll get a notification and a message to either downshift or park safely
You won't get any of these warnings with majority of the Toyotas of same year model hence the higher likelihood of things having gone bad already before you notice.

Prymestrr: Guys please I need your advise. My Camry 2005 is shorting oil rapidly. It doesn't smoke, no visible oil leakage in the engine bay. Just did oil change last Saturday and I've done about 150 miles since then and the oil is already below the guage. I use synthetic oil 5w-30.
Where else can the oil possibly be leaking from please.
Cc. Deportivo, Gazzuzz
use heavier oil on shorter oil change intervals 20w50 (2000 miles)
djoey89: Weldone oga Gazzuz, please i use a toyota camry 2003, my steering is stiff when i am turning at low speed, some said its pump, some said it is the steering rack. Pls your advice is needed. Thanks.
