So my brother called me to say that his Camry transmission was having issues - erratic shifts, bla bla bla. Mechanic was saying there's something they needed to bring out from the gear and wash (strainer).

Well, after a few questions, I understood the main issue the gear had was consistently high shift point when hot. I explained that high shift point in a modern auto has nothing to do with the gear itself. It has to be external.

I asked if any recent work was done on the car and he said yes - the radiator was replaced. Then I received a shocker: "my mechanic said it is wrong to connect the gear hose to the radiator, so he bypassed it". I asked him to repeat that again in case I misheard, and he did. I asked what the mechanic did with the hose, he said it was connected back to the gear! So what happened to the radiator atf ports? He didn't know.

The mechanic sounded so convincing that after I told my brother his mechanic was wrong, he initially said he would look for a similar car to compare. . You can imagine these mechanics!

After the correction was made and atf topped up, the gear came back to normal. I wonder how he came about that in the first place.

I remember many years ago (in the days of Peugeot 504 Station wagon) when I took our vehicle to the mechanic to complain about a slight hammar noise at the front when brakes were applied. When I came back to pick the car and started driving off, I applied brakes and noticed it was barely effective. I got down to complain; that was when I noticed the dimwit applied grease on the front rotors!

Some 'mechanics' have no business with screwdrivers!

Hi so i have a lexus es 300, got it toks, car no get issues at all and i service regularly with recommended oil from mobil. Recently after very long long drives in very dusty sandy areas i noticed my care de loose speed when driving in highway. Now i noticed this when i was trying to overtake korope on the highway it was harder than normal i asked the person i was traveling with if korope is fast like this. I knew there was an issue in my car drive power. Then i can overtake normal with high speed oo say i am doing 100 then approach a truck i can easily swerve if there is space and continue. now if i approach a mack and slow down behind for it to make space, if i try overtake it it is no longer easy again as before i have to try upto 3 times. it feels slow uphill especially when i slow down before ascending now i have to be removing my feet from the gas pedal after i step on it to force it into gear change i dont nw if this helps anything. Other than these there s no jerking, no shaking, the rpm is stable in idling with AC, though i de notice some kind intermittent shake when idling. then the car is smoother when in park than when in drive while idling i dont know if this is normal.

now i think my fan is noisy i dont know if its true. again when i turn on AC in the morning i hear a whyning sound that lasst for about 2 mins and stops. I have scanned the car and only got my usual knock sensor and catalyst codes it has had from day 1. What do i do to regain power pls and be dusting all the corolla boys on the highway

My camry 2004 won't start. I parked the car and d next morning I try to start it but the car won't start or cranck . The security light keep flashing even when the key is in ignition. We've checked with system by 2 different rewire guys but seems they are not getting it since last week thursday. I've asked someone to read d key for possible signal error but I was told the key is perfectly okay. Another person checked it today with system after lot of trial and told me is the immobilizer that may be faulty. Pls what could be the issue with the car

Good morning sir,
I did a scanned on my car and it returned a p2238 O2 sensor positive current control circuit low bank 1 sensor 1. It’s a 2012 camry xle. 4 plug. Please I need help getting the original part that would fit for it. I have tried replacing but still returns the same error code.
