mrsdaniel: Hello, I've a sienna '08 which had clogged fuel pump filter issues but dirt was cleaned and car drove up hill smoothly .. We observed sometimes the RPM fluctuate and car hesitates a little but am not really convinced with the mechanic touching Car injectors since I haven't done any work around engine asides oil change since car was bought few months ago . Car was scanned yesterday after seeing some black smoked color around the exhaust and higher fuel consumption and came up with codes ( P0159 , P0300, P0174 , P2197 ) in snapshot below.. kindly assist me with these codes & possible solution ?
ModelX: Meh. One of the cons of working with your hands be say na one blow seven die! Gazzuzz vs Baba40 bareknuckle fight. Make we settle am the oldfashioned way.
chiefbuchiV12: Oga Gazzuzz biko do quick chook the V12 inside this moto wen you finish help me leave for the front of that I-Prudent so I go fit help you lost this moto, na my dream come true be dis
That would be like 2-3months of modifications.
Let me enjoy this small before i swap engines. The donor will always be available.
sdbaba: The money he was asking was too much. Even those that have the money will NEVER buy it at the price he was asking for. N1.5m for a 1994 V-Boot, say wetin happen? Anyways somebody already said he would be the one to use the car last last and that's what has finally happened.
Vehicle landed Nigeria @ ₦1,920,000 in January 2020
It's a clean title and not an accidented scrap.
It had to be paid for in action, trucked, shipped and cleared.
Selling to the public at a loss was a choice I was not happy with, and as it stands I will rather enjoy my thing jeje no crime in owning 3 mercerdes
wizzle772: Good evening oga GAZZUZ, we have checked the connection to the throttle, but now when I turn on the car the REV will go up to 2 and will not go down less than 1 always above 1 and costumes fuel well. Please what could be the issue with this.
Recalibrate the throttle system with a scanner.
Also check if the throttle pedal has been adjusted
Lucas4903: Dont even go there, I will land a 2003 Corolla at 1.4 sef....1.9 ko.....10milion ni. I am not an auto dealer but I have bought for friends from where I live. I no dey do deals ooo. But truth be told.
Edunwa302: Thanx just check the fuel pump pressure its reading 140psi I gues that's its within the approved range?
You should check fuel pressure on fuel rail, not directly from the pump . On fuel rail you should get ~50psi (3.5bar)which should hold steady irrespective of duration.
If you are getting 140psi (~9bars) on fuel rail you will have a leak on all injectors and injectors would be damaged by now.
Uyi213: Bro’s Weldone. You are doing a great job in autos section. I am a big fan. I even subscribed to your YouTube channel lol. Chief do you have anyone who can check my Honda EOD engine as mechanic says it is engine problems. All d lights are on on the dashboard. Car dashboard lights comes on when key is in the ignition but refuses to start.
Also Do you sell Obd scanner I don’t have much to change the engine. Just want to fix what’s wrong with it
I gave out a sound 2.4liter k24a4 engine to a nairalander last week. It was in very good condition (not smoking or rattling)
Let me know the parts you need and your engine size, I always have salvageable engines I can give out when I am in a good mood.
Nbotee: Which car models suffer from catalyst problems
Almost every model using our horrible fuel will fail at some point in time .
Sadly most foreign used cars get their catalytic converters stolen either before auction (it is listed as buy and drive so who cares ) or while in storage (our Mexican brothers)
There are certain cars like the Ford's, Honda's and Acura that will get blocked catalytic converters after a few years of use, causing really sluggish movement. It is always best to remove the catalytic converters in such cases to avoid engine damage.
After that is done, this device can be used to keep the vehicle free from errors.
GBTYO: Reduce landing cost to the barest minimum by patronizing professional auto theft syndicates .
You could get a clean RX-350 for $5,000 .
Landing cost of 3-4mil and sell for 5-6mil profit.
That's the only way.
Insurance will compensate the original car owner.
I have seen Interpol intercept a container filled with stolen vehicles from USA. I swear the vehicles were shipped back.
I have also seen a vehicle user take a high end car for servicing in an autonshop in lekki . When the vehicle details were entered into the system it was flagged as a stolen vehicle from USA , vehicle and owner were moved to police headquarters Abuja to gist with Interpol.
Since there is no restriction to who can import and sell a car, the market is very diverse.
The actual people who sell cars for a living are having a hard time competing with people who sell cars on the side.
A 2003 Toyota Corolla clean title will land Nigeria at about ₦1,940,000 naira , it will be put up for sale for about ₦2,100,000 and finally sold for about ₦2-2.03m in 1-2weeks
A profit of ₦less than ₦100,000 on an investment of roughly 2m and wait period of about 3months, with associated risk.
Now you have people who have relations outside the country who I would like to call recreational sellers, they do not sell cars for a living, they do not know how much these cars cost, all they do is wait for Obinna to send a car down, Obinna tells them the last price and they put it up for sale . After 2-3months of not seeing a buyer the price starts to drop out of frustration and finally a car that landed at say ₦1,000,000 would end up being sold for ₦900,000 with thank you
Cars are now very expensive, cat dealers are not finding it easy and have to source for cheap dollars to stay afloat, the dubious ones have to search for badly salvaged cheap vehicles to make more profit, they also have to cut more corners at the port to shortpay on custom duty to cover up for the shortfall in returns.
1kinggy: Chief @gazzuz my dashboard display is malfunctioning. My speedometer stoped working after I took the car for suspension change.
The strange part: it is my fuel level that is responslding to speed change.
Every other thing is working well. I have swapped speedometer with another Toyota Highlander of my model, problem persists.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
What year is your Highlander? Scan the ABS unit . Use the live scan option with the vehicle driving under 30miles per hr. Check which wheel speed sensors are not responsive .
olenyi: Good day @Gazzuzz and other experts in the house, I pulled these codes from my 1998 Camry.
Sometime last month, I went through some flooded roads during a heavy storm and the gear 2 indicator on the dash came on and stayed on irrespective of whether the reverse or drive or neutral gear was selected. This was later sorted out by an auto electrician. But these other codes are stuck. Have cleared them but they keep coming back.
Will be grateful with advice and pointers on how to resolve them.
Warm regards.
NB: I have drained and refilled the ATF with regards to the shift solenoid codes yet no show.
Let's start with the vehicle stuck in 2.
Replace this part called the range switch and solve this issue then rescan and come back.
mickee2u: Good morning boss, and thank you so much for this thread. Chatted you up on WhatsApp this morning and decided to redirect my questuons here for your advice.
I've been driving my tokunbo 07 Corolla S car for almost two years on these ride hailing platforms and never had a single overheating problem till two weeks ago.
First time it happened, i noticed the hose which takes water to the reserve tank had bursted open and was letting off hot air, i managed to patch it, poured some water and replaced the hose immediately I got to my destination.
Overheating stopped till this monday in traffic, i noticed the temperature gauge rising above the halfway mark just as I got out of some traffic. At the time I got off the expressway and parked, it had almost gotten to the red mark,so I did the needful and went straight to my mechanic. I was asked to replace the radiator cap, they also noticed that the small hose which led to the reserve tank had a minor cut so it was fixed.
The next day (Tuesday) in traffic on third mainland bridge, i kept watching the gauge till it started rising. I stopped my car, did what I had to do and went back to my mechanic. This time, they removed the radiator and on checking, they noticed it had been clogged with dirt so they washed it off completely and replaced it.
On wednesday, i kept checking the coolant level after every stop I made, everything was normal and didn't show any funny temperature rise till I got in traffic sometime that evening. That was when I noticed the the temperature rose above the halfway mark but never got to the red line. I parked and left my car with ac running for almost 15 minutes to see if the temperature would eiae further but it didn't, so I drove home.
As soon as I started speeding down the road, the temperature gauge went back to the half mark. The coolant level was also normal as I checled later when the engine cooled off. I woke this morning to check the water level and it was unchanged from the way it was after parking yesterday evening.
The problem is, i have never seen my car's temperature gauge rise beyond the halfway mark till recently, so what could be wrong? Could you kindly offer some advise as I intend visiting a proper autoshop to fix whatever problem it may have?
PS: the mechanics checked to remove the thermostat but noticed it was already missing, probably the dealers i bought it from had already taken it off, there are no visible leaks on my radiator, and the integrity of all the hoses seem just fine, no leakages.
Clearly your mechanics don't know how to diagnose. So let's just nuke the problem .
Replace fans, replace radiator (brand new pls), replace and sand out all coolant joints made of aluminium, install Toyota coolant.
