meetdopi: Dear Gazzuzz, I urgently need your advice. Attached is the error message on a 2009 Highlander. I have done the diagnostic where engine and EcT 4 problems detected, cylinder 2 and 3 misfire detected and all these errors were cleaned, radiator has been changed, spark plugs replaced, nozzles were cleaned, yet these indicators refused to leave. What professional advise would you give in this instance? A few times, this makes the engine to overheat, causes a 'drawl' in speed
Remote diagnosis will not be possible .
2GR-FE is very sensitive to misfires.
So many Other factors come to play, change workshop/technician.
llade: Am scared oh cos the one so called electrician has used omo and water to clean the brain box saying that is how it can be cleaned now when scanned the brain box does not communicate with the car again.
nissparts: Hopefully, no serious damage has occurred from trial and error approaches by mechanics. Ignore all other codes asides from the P1615. Your key needs to be reprogrammed with the ECU (Brainbox) Get a key programmer and put the original ECU back.
llade: Good Day, I am llade from nairaland and I own a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder V8. I travelled with it from Abuja on Saturday, 20th June 2020 to Benin enroute Auchi. When I got to Auchi, I bought fuel at the NNPC Mega Station, I must admit that after buying fuel, I wanted to start the car when I noticed the gear lever was on drive position. I moved it to park but when I turned the ignition, it refused to start. From that Saturday to Tuesday, 23rd June 2020 several mechanics from Benin came to check the car and their conclusion was for me to replace camshaft sensors and ECU. Scan results showed the following codes: P0447, P1564, P1615, P0340 and P0345. I have bought over 10 camshaft sensors and three ECUs(brain boxes) but the vehicle cranks and has still refused to start. See pics please. Please what do I do. Thanks.
Nissan and it's wahala
First of all kindly install all previous old components back. Clear all codes and try to restart then scan the vehicle for the current codes.
You have been locked out by the. NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM .
We should continue on whatsapp as this will be a very long remote diagnosis.
Great work you're doing with this thread. I don't know if the specific issue with my Lexus ES 300 has already been addressed here but might take a while to run through the entire thread to find out. Therefore I decided to be as specific as possible.
The attached screenshot shows a scan result done last week on the ES 300 (newly purchased toks, 3 weeks old).
Car rides smoothly and everything okay except for the CHECK ENGINE (P0430 & P0441) which popped up for the first time immediately after I accelerated really hard two weeks ago on one occasion.
Mechanic says I'll need to change the entire catalyst of the car or build a new one cheaply at Ladipo, but I'm wary of trying to fix a problem that never existed in the first place or even creating new real problems for my car.
Finally, my car ignition delays (sometimes) when I try to start, regardless of how much driving I'd done previously or whether starting cold in the morning. Mechanic simply says to "prepare for a new battery," but this has been on for three weeks now and I feel that if it's a battery issue it shouldn't crank properly especially after being parked for a day or two.
Is there a connection between the error codes and this starting problem? I personally think the error codes might be a faulty or mis-connected sensor, or, in the case of the ignition, a failing ignition coil.
I'll appreciate your insights please.
First driving really fast should not cause the codes that popped..
Interestingly you have a catalyst converter code affecting only one bank (bank 2 front of the engine) in a V6 engine. Catalytic converter codes are very common in older cars and cars imported into Nigeria as they get stolen all the time before or after shipping by port rats. In your case it might have aged and burnt out.
You have 3 options, replace catalytic converter with a used one , replace with a refurbished one or install an oxygen sensor spacer. Either option will work if done well. Also you should inspect the bank1 .
The incorrect purge flow from evaporative emission system might be a leak on the engine side. This could cause startup issues especially if the purge valve is stuck open.
boxymccoy: Good morning Engr Gazzuzz. My gear lever disengages into neutral at gear 3 and 4.... most times, I have to support it with my hand so that it wont disengage. Pls what could be the issue......it's a manual transmission (Yaris)
Those gears are damaged. It can be rebuilt or replaced. I have a feeling the transmission is inexpensive, consider replacing
My CRV 08 instrument display panel started going haywire last week. Took it to a rewire but the guy said he doesn't understand what is wrong. He checked all the fuse (supposedly) and said they are all fine. Now i can read my fuel guage, engine temp etc. Pix attached. Please come to my aid.
