The news has been filled with Ebola: Oh yes...the deadly ebola! Thank God it can be prevented if we are careful where we go and on point with our hygiene. Hmmmm....I bought hand sanitizers about a month ago, before the whole Ebola drama and the tiny bottle cost aboutN300. I was at a supermarket yesterday and that same tiny sized hand sanitizer hadN1300 labelled on it. You could tell the price tag was fresh.
Just imagine that!
Of course that gingered me to think about ways to make my own hand sanitizer because I cannot come and go and use all my salary to buy that small pangolo sanitizer. If you have the time you can try making your own sanitizer!
I like senrenere so I used:
*.8-10 drops of Lavender Essential oil (I would have preferred orange because I don't like the scent of lavender)
*.1/3 cup of K-Y Gel or some people use Aloe Vera Gel ( KY GEL has glycerin so it will be moisturizing for your hands)
*.2/3 cup of Rubbing Alcohol (methylated spirit)
*.Empty bottle (to pour in your sanitizer when made)
*.Glass bowl for mixing (because essential oils can leave almost a permanent flavour on plastic)
*.Daaazaaaal!Essential oils have antiseptic properties, also rubbing alcohol (methylated spirit) is a great disinfectant and it dries up instantly (like ogogoro) so in actual fact, you can use any of the items alone to sanitize your surroundings. You can add water to rubbing alcohol and that can be your sanitizer; it doesn't have to always be in a gel form.
Method: Mix these items together, shake vigorously until it blends. Mine had bits of the K-Y Gel but after leavening it for a few hours, it all melted and was a perfect gel! Try it!

May day! May day!! Pls this is emergency. My honda civic 2008 gear has been behaving strange lately. Once the car is hot, the gear will not enter reverse again, and once i accelerate to up to 75 km/h the gear will slip off and will not respond to acceleration until it come down to like 50km/h. The two Mechanic i have taken the car to, one said i should change the gear box and the other said it might be the gear oil that i should change the gear oil. Pls car gurus what should i do?

Can one permanently install obd 1 or 2 devices in hilux and buses (fleet management) so that it sends information all the time to the owner rather than using obd 1 or 2 for checking faults only?

Senario... I went out with a friend yesterday before we set out we checked and realised the oil guage was below half (not so far from the lower marker).
He concluded that he will service car (oil change) this weekend so need need to top oil.
One our way we stopped by a mechanic (who normally does his oil change) and mechanic also touched something related to the airflow Meter.

Then the RPM jump up and kept hovering around 1200 to 1500 rpm(even with AC on and "" drive engaged and car was not moving)

After a while in traffic we noticed the temperature gauge started rising. Up till 3/4

Note:
- the radiator never poured out water.
- we left car till later in the evening. Disconnected and reconnected battery terminal to regularise the rpm (as the throttle was electrical)
Car did not overheat on our way back..

Hence for information sake, I would like to know the bolded questions above. Thanks

the fake N3,500 and original N18,000 respectively.
The cheaper is cool for me considering the economy but I'm afraid it may damage my gear.

I did accident investigation. Look at this pic, you can see that the pin for that rear brake has been removed long time ago.

I seriously doubt that this troglodyte would keep the tanks in good condition.

Yes, you can stop picking up passengers arriving Nigeria from the airport till the situation is calm globally . You never know who have had a contact with an infected person in transist, incubation period of this virus is 7-14 days, an infected might not know he is infected.

Countries are temporarily stopping visitors from coming, in northern Italy, the death row is increasing, shops are closed and towns are in lock down, so it will be better to protect your self by reading online about it. The normal nose mask won't save you. There is a special mask for this virus. I doubt it is abundant in Nigeria

So who should pic them? The yellow taxis? Sadly The virus will be distributed unless people are stopped from moving. The fatality rate is 2.3per in China, for the average Nigerian that can survive Buhari, 0.5per it's just a flu that will either kill you or you survive it. More people survive than die so there no cause for alarm.

Used 4minutes gum, 2 inch pipe (short), clips, rubber band and scotch tape to fix a turbo hose. Hose burst on a weekend on a journey and a replacement won't be available till at least four days.
Above items fixed the hose temporarily and lasted for more than a month before replacement was installed. Worked quite well.

This virus is in every almost continent except south america, in Africa, Algeria is the first country to have it, it was brought by an Italian who knew he had the virus.

Coronavirus fatality rates vary wildly depending on age, gender and medical history — some patients fare much worse than others



A new paper published in JAMA reviews a China-based sample of 72,000 COVID-19 cases, which suggests dramatic variations in the death rate of the illness
No deaths occurred in those aged 9 years and younger, but cases in those aged 70 to 79 years had an 8% fatality rate and those aged 80 years and older had a fatality rate of 14.8%, according to a study of Chinese coronavirus cases released this week.

As the coronavirus spreads, scientists are learning more about the disease’s fatality rate.

The medical journal JAMA released a paper this week analyzing data from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention on 72,314 coronavirus cases in mainland China, the figure as of Feb. 11, the largest such sample in a study of this kind.


The sample’s overall case-fatality rate was 2.3%, higher than World Health Organization official 0.7% rate. No deaths occurred in those aged 9 years and younger, but cases in those aged 70 to 79 years had an 8% fatality rate and those aged 80 years and older had a fatality rate of 14.8%.

No deaths were reported among mild and severe cases . The fatality rate was 49% among critical cases, and elevated among those with preexisting conditions: 10.5% for people with cardiovascular disease, 7.3% for diabetes, 6.3% for chronic respiratory disease, 6% for hypertension, and 5.6% for cancer.

The latest China-based study, which was not peer-reviewed by U.S. scientists, found that men had a fatality rate of 2.8% versus 1.7% for women. Some doctors have said that women may have a stronger immune system as a genetic advantage to help babies during pregnancy.

The Chinese study is likely not representative of what might happen if the global spread of the virus worsens. In China, nearly half of men smoke cigarettes compared to roughly 2% of women, which could be one reason for the higher death rate among males.

There were 81,191 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and at least 2,768 deaths as of Wednesday, according to a tally published by the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering’s Centers for Systems Science and Engineering. (As of Wednesday morning, WHO’s COVID-19 case dashboard, which had been regularly updated, was not working.)


The fatality rate of the novel coronavirus so far appears to be a fraction of that of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (9.6%) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (34.4%). The fatality rate can affect how fast an outbreak spreads: If people die from an illness sooner, they are less likely to be working, shopping or flying on airplanes and, thus, less likely to spread the virus (sic).

“COVID-19 rapidly spread from a single city to the entire country in just 30 days,” the JAMA paper added. “The sheer speed of both the geographical expansion and the sudden increase in numbers of cases surprised and quickly overwhelmed health and public-health services in China.”

The World Health Organization said on Monday that the fatality rate in Wuhan, China, considered the epicenter of the outbreak, is between 2% and 4%. Outside of Wuhan, it is thought to be 0.7%.


“After several months — when pandemic data had been collected from many countries experiencing an epidemic wave — the 2009 influenza turned out to be much milder than was thought in the initial weeks. Its case fatality was lower than 0.1% and in line with other known human influenza viruses.”

“Every now and then a disease becomes so dangerous that it kills the host,” Matan Shelomi, an entomologist and assistant professor at National Taiwan University, wrote on Quora in 2017. But, ideally for the host at least, it must strike a balance.

“If the disease is able to spread to another host before the first host dies, then it is not too lethal to exist. Evolution cannot make it less lethal so long as it can still spread,” he added. “If a hypothetical disease eradicates its only host, both will indeed go extinct.”
