Ayara222: My Toyota Camry 2008 model is misbehaving. Just noticed the engine oil dries upto the bottom dot on the oil gauge under a week after service, what could be wrong please, what is the appropriate oil to use? using TOTAL presently, SMH
Rebuild engine. Piston rings and valve stem seals replacement
shevon: That's the thing, the onboard computer is not returning any error and when I scanned with my (cheap) OBDII device, no issue was reported. I am very aware of the history of the vehicle: bought brand new and used by my company, sold to a colleague after being fully depreciated, who's wife has used it for 3years before stepping up to something bigger. They have never changed fixed/worked on the transmission. Heck, the milage is still under 85k. My mechanic said changing the solenoid will do the trick, but I'm just confused. If the solenoid is changed and the car doesn't give the issue again, do you suggest I still buy it?
Could be transmission or engine ecu or both. But not a solenoid
shevon: God bless you with what you've been doing with this thread. There is this Nigerian used 2011 RAV4 I am considering buying and the only concern I've seen so far is when driving and gear is supposed to shift to gear 3, the car just revs and jerks before moving on. Called a mechanic and he said the issue is with transmission solenoid (which he said would cost N50,000.00 to fix and the seller has agreed to pay) though the check engine sign is not on; my question is, would you suggest I go ahead and buy it since the mechanic said it is something that can be fixed?
Scan transmission. Seems wrong transmission is installed in vehicle.
Never believe this silly quotes on major problems. After paying for vehicle, you will realise much greater issues.

I brought in a 2006 Honda Pilot AWD (J35a9 engine) from the US
The car was cleared last week but it has refused to start. It cranks and cranks but just doesn't start.
Noticed yesterday that the plugs get wet with fuel, changed the brain box but still didn't start (the plugs were still wet with fuel even with 2 brain boxes installed)
Tested the spark plugs for spark and it was orange/red spark, instead of blue or white so we changed the plugs but it still didn't start.
Changed the nozzles and then exchanged the main relay with the one beside it. Car then started and died when I depressed the accelerator.
Since then, car hasn't started again, just keeps cranking.
Scanned the car, no error codes
Brought the car in for my mother-in-law, please assist, with possible fixes, before they take my wife back from me.
Thanks, as always

From your description engine lacks compression but my statement might be incorrect.
