Thugaa: This is a very misleading post. Switching from conventional motor oil to full synthetic motor oil is perfectly acceptable.
However, if your vehicle has a high mileage engine (e.g., engine with more than 75,000 miles) that has never used synthetic motor oil, or one that has been poorly maintained with infrequent oil changes, it is recommended to ease into extended oil change intervals to allow the full synthetic oil to clean up the engine. In these cases you should still follow the same basic oil change procedures (drain the old oil, remove the old oil filter, put in new new full synthetic oil and put on a new oil filter).
Follow your OEM’s recommended maintenance practices regarding oil changes, but you should follow more frequent (one or two non-extended drain) oil changes when first switching to synthetic oil. The reasoning behind these shortened oil change intervals is that a high mileage engine, or one that has had a lack of maintenance (including infrequent oil changes), will likely have a considerable buildup of sludge and deposits.
A full synthetic oil will help clean the engine as you drive, but it will have to work much harder in a very “dirty” engine and so it is best to change the oil more frequently for those first several thousand miles. After that, you can be rest assured that the new full synthetic oil is continuing to keep your engine running clean and well lubricated for mile after mile.
GAZZUZZ: If you have an abused engine with sludge and you have been running mineral oil in your engine, kindly DO not use full synthetic oil.
Synthetic oil has cleaning agents that break down sludge and keeps the engine clean, the problem is when this reaction happens to fast and the engine is really contaminated, it becomes a big problem for the pick up screen filter . It gets blocked!!! When this happens oil pressure drops and engine stops getting the right amount of lubrication . These series of events will culminate in a frozen/knocked engine if not caught on time.
One last time, if you have not been using full synthetic oil, stick with mineral oil.
Read slowly, comprehend understand before reacting .
I sell full synthetic engine oil, I am also a mechanic. What I just posted is no a theory but what has claimed the lives of a lot of engines.
kuntash: When you use a good synthetic engine oil frequently, it can take away the sludge...
It's only when you follow those talk of one year oil change bla bla,
If u engine is still ok with its rings firm enough around the blocks, with enough torque and power for u...
Get synthetic oils replaced on it frequently, you would get a clean engine!
The reason why synthetic oils was developed is of this...
I HOPE THE OP DOESN'T DELETE THIS POST btw

I need your help on this, I have this Honda 2008 V6 I got for almost free. The old user lives in owerri he said he once changed the gear box. Now same issue came he dumped it and got a corolla. Though he claims the mechanic says there were other engine issues he can't remember anymore. Now I need a better mechanic living at owerri to go check it out for me. I also need an advice do I go ahead with and acquire new gear box and work on the engine.. OR do I leave it be. Because I Reside in Lagos that's also where I intend using it if can be properly repaired. Towing to Lagos to be repaired here I feel it's too costly.
searchng4love: well, I don't buy this bukum of an advice....open the cover and view the sludge...physically remove as much as possible, then diesel the engine as advised by Siena..... after a while drain the oil/diesel.... clean the pick up tube.... pour your fresh oyel.... run for about 500km-2000km.... drain again.... clean pickup tube again.... fill up with high grade oyel again and enjoy for a longer period but make sure you drain at a shorter interval and watch out for leaks..... then next oil service enjoy your dru23 oils....
when you buy that Nigerian used car open up the valve cover, if it looks like this, Do not flush, do not use synthetic oil, just continue as your forefathers and you father's before you. 20w50 weight.

mejai: Gazzuzz, this ur fuel pump tool looks gud. Kazeems have used giant screwdriver or chisel with big hammer to destroy all the edges on my fuel pump rubber cover as shown in ur pics. Chai
The Camry came in the following engine and transmission variants between 2001/2006 the popular specs from Europe and North America highlighted below.
2.0 L 1AZ-FE I4, 144 hp 2.4 L 2AZ-FE I4, 157 hp 3.0 L 1MZ-FE V6, 192 hp without VVT-i (2002), 210 hp with VVT-i (2003–2006) 3.3 L 3MZ-FE V6 SE (2004–2006), 225 hp
Really poor 2nd hand value partially due to non vvti engines, The 1mz 2003- 2006 much better fuel economy with vvti and 3mz engine 2003- 2006 smoother drive better fuel economy but watch out for the U151E aka 13pin transmission, once it's bad, they slap for sale on the car.
The 4cylinder
The 2001-2006 all have same 2az engines, but they are fit with different transmission types.
The 2001-2004 come with the ever reliable U241E 4speed transmission aka 10pin (₦70,000)
While the 2005-2006 are fit with the U250 aka 13pin transmission (₦220,000)
When buying a Camry 4cylinder inspect the engine and transmission properly, as a standard the 2az engine is usually abused and a bit pricy ₦250,000, and if u must buy the later models 2005/2006 ensure the transmission is in top shape.
