Buhari will not be consumed with probing everyone and even the corrupt elite know this. He does not have the time for that and the urgent need to rescue Nigeria, with proactive policies and actions that builds for the present and future, precludes a leadership style focused entirely on probing past leaders alone. What will be the reality moving forward, under a Buhari presidency, is that 'business as usual' will end and a new sincere era of tackling corruption and minimising it's deleterious influence will begin. Even those very corrupt may have no problem under Buhari if they accept the unspoken 'amnesty' to accept that the unconscionable plundering of Nigeria's wealth they previously enjoyed is over. |
OrlandoOwoh:Certainly the worst since 1999. The problem is that too many Nigerians are sentimental, ethnocentric, prejudiced and religiously biased when they would be in better control of their own destiny if they were objective critical thinkers able to deal with facts and reality dispassionately. It is only when we do this, i.e shun sentiments completely to face facts/reality, that we gain the clarity to see and support genuinely transformational leaders into power. The truth is that Jonathan has taken Nigeria backwards in regards to our perennial major problems. I.e the problems the entire universe know is responsible for the lack of development of Nigeria and other third world countries. This is why, worldwide, GEJ is now known as a President who majors in the minors i.e talk up and praise entirely rubbish actions as "achievements" while he has failed woefully in regards to tackling the major problems of Nigeria that has ailed us for decades to ensure we are a poverty-stricken and grossly underdeveloped nation despite our potentials. Suffice to say GEJ must leave if Nigeria is to stand a chance of beginning a march towards progress and greatness. |
Comments from Nigerians to the article above: BAYO November 13, 2014 - 2:20 pm Very nauseating when you hear that he is the best President we have ever had; how anyone could sleep in his/her bed comfortable in the knowledge that bare faced lies have been spewed to the nation. I just pray we can gently send him back to Otuoke in 2015. REPLY Mikky November 13, 2014 - 2:58 pm But, he stopped queues at filling stations, he refurbished Lagos Kano Railway line, he resurfaced Benin Ofosu road, and of course, he did not die in office like Yar adua. REPLY shashi November 13, 2014 - 3:16 pm MIKKY YOU ARE RIGHT.HE DID NOT DIE IN POWER “YET” LIKE YAR ADUA BUT CLUELESS AND USELESS WHILE IN POWER.lets wait till 2015 FEBRUARY REPLY Albert November 13, 2014 - 4:56 pm Nigeria has now become a full blown communist regime were lies, constant and repeated lies, propaganda, deceit, spread of fear and rumour mongering have now become official govt policies. I watched Jonathan`s declaration in Abuja and Adams commemoration of his 6th year as Governor of Edo state. They both became Chief executives President of the FRN and Gov of Edo state at same time. The one in Abuja was like a beauty pageant whilst that in Benin was akin to a convocation ceremony of University of Harvard. Such an occasion at Abuja could have been a celebration of achievements for a party that has been in power since 1999. It could have been a testimonial day for Goodluck who has been President since 2010. The highlights were the speech by the VP, which centred on his personal and working relationship with Jonathan. Senate President Mark , someone noted for supporting any person in power and for his anti-democratic credentials and support for the annulment of June 12 election and his promise to kill MKO is power was handed to him, rambled and ended up endorsing Jonathan without mentioning a single achievement by Goodluck. Akpabio recited a poem about transformation, he was not very sure of the script he memories, whether it was the transformation of Akwa Ibom or Nigeria. So he went ahead with the narration of transformation going on in the power sector and agric sector. That, Nigerians now enjoy electricity 24/7. That, agric for the first time in Nigeria is now business. Before GEJ, Agric was not business. It is strange to hear anyone saying that, Agriculture which is the oldest profession in the world and in Nigeria was not business until 2011. It is only in 2011 that, we as a nation started establishing, Agric faculties, colleges and Banks. Yet, facts and figures reveal that, Nigeria imports almost 70% of what we consume. Agric Items which were hitherto banned under Obasanjo`s regimes are now imported in full scale with govt subsidies and Tax exemption. Visit any of our local markets and departmental stores and see items on our shelves. 90% imported food items. Muritala -Obasanjo Administration set up Operation feed the Nation, Shagari launched operation Green revolution. What has GEJ established? Nothing! He rather reversed all the policies of Obasanjo and today, Nigeria is importing 70% of our food needs. The Federal Govt has over 36 Federal Ministries. Such an event could have rolled out the palpable achievements of each of these Ministries or apart of Agric, the rest are ghost ministries? Compared the Abuja carnival to the rally in Benin commemorating Adams 6 years in Power? Adams spoke for almost an hour without reading any prepared speech. His presented his testimonial and mentioned the state of affairs he met Edo State. He inherited Edo State, completely raped and rendered useless, hopeless, hapless and wrecked by the PDP after 8 years. He mentioned the roads, schools, hospitals he has constructed and could be verified. Adams asked for PDP testimonials in Edo state? I will add PDP testimonial for Nigeria? It pains my heart to hear so-called propagandists for GEJ making ugly noises and insulting the sensibilities of Nigerians. At one breath, Jonathan has performed better than all the ex president combined. When we asked them for any testimonies, they have none to show. When we probe further, they will tell you, under the circumstances he has tried, and he is doing his best if not of those who are sabotaging his efforts. When we asked who are those sabotaging him, they will either say the Northerners of APC. How are these two sabotaging him. They will either tell you they are criticizing him or supporting BH. When you asked if any of the Fed Govt policies, bills or requests has been stalled at the National Assembly like Obama is experiencing in the US? Is the Army, Police, Ministers and all the security agencies under the control of the opposition or critics? Is Goodluck the first and only President to be criticized or confronted with security challenges in Nigeria or Africa? Sometimes it is extremely painful to see the depth of the ignorance of Nigerians on how Govt works and the responsibilities, functions and duties of the President of the FRN. To be a President of Nigeria, is not by force. You pay 22 million naira pay for the party nomination, campaign and contest elections. Every leader at least will point at something he bequeathed to his people. Tafawa Balewa might say, he constructed River Niger Bridge, Kanji dam and built world class universities in the 3 regions . Shagari might say we built Housing Estates, started the FCT Project and launched operation Green Revolution, IBB might say, l completed FCT and built ASO Rock, National Assembly complex, created new states, built 2 refineries. Gowon might say, l executed a civil war within 30 months and kept Nigeria one, built a modern state of Nigeria and ushered in prosperity which was rare for a country coming out of a civil war. We could look at the flyovers in Lagos and the numerous Express way across the nation. Abacha might say, if for anything, he restored the pride and honour of Nigeria is a great Force in Africa and the world. Nigerian Armed Forces were at the vanguard for the restoration of peace and constitutional rule in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Obasanjo might say, l pull Nigeria from its brinks and the woods, kept our restive military in the barracks and away from politics, kept Nigeria safe and handed over Nigeria intact, indivisible, strong and one nation to Yara Adua and Goodluck Goodluck at least will take credit for the following;- building an industry of corruption in Nigeria; share, steal, loot and launder public resources with the instrumentality of the Presidency;, clueless leadership, divide Nigerians along ethnic and religious lines, ex militants and sponsors of terror groups being spokesperson of the Government and friends of the President, surrendering Nigeria to the hands of a cabal and criminals, the first president ever in our history to surrender Nigerian territories to invaders. The first president to voluntarily surrender territories of Nigeria bigger than the size of Togo and Ghana combined and with a population more than that of Benin Republic and Togo combined. GEJ might also be the first President of Nigeria who will be a candidate for the Hague. REPLY Leke Popoola November 14, 2014 - 12:57 am Albert, I normally dont respond to comments but for this I have to. I thank you for this. May God in his infinite mercies bless you abundantly. When I see comments like this, I get hope because the state of Nigeria right now is saddening. Unfortunately, a lot of our people are simple too sentimental, along religious and tribal lines to acknowledge the truth. I always avoid criticizing Jonathan, because as a Yoruba man and a Muslim, the first thing i will hear is “Yes you are all BH” or ” is it because he is not Yoruba”. Seriously, If Jonathan was my father, I will tell him he is a failure. Individuals like Jonathan will continue to lead! 2015 elections offers the golden chance for a new beginning, when if we get our acts together we can start to reconstruct Nigeria and move her in the path of greatness. Why doe this Metuh always speak as if he is from Mars and drunk? Firstly, Jonathan's "declaration" was a foregone conclusion that did not surprise anyone. Secondly, Metuh is not deaf or blind. He would have noted the underwhelming response worldwide to Jonathan's declaration to understand that his boss has lost goodwill and 'traction home and abroad. Balanced observer worldwide agree that Nigeria is drifting badly and they completely understand that it is pointless to seek nothing other than the dismissal of a President who has shown conclusively, over 5 years, that he brings far more problems than solutions. Metuh has to confront this reality yet he is a man consumed by the largesse he is enjoying courtesy of the current Government he serves. He must then defend that government by continuing to fool GEJ into thinking Mr.President is "feared" and popular when the reality is ridiculously different. Metuh's pathetic attempt at rudimentary spin just mirrors the sycophantic immorality and brazen dishonesty afflicting Nigerian politics today. |
seunmsg:Bro, Amosun may not be the most accommodating or compromising of politicians but there are folks against him who will never be pacified whatever he does simply because they detest Amosun, for one reason or the other, and are unwilling to settle for anything other than the political destruction of the Ogun governor. There are those angry with Amosun because he will not play politics of patronage and sort out 'awon boyz'. Others remain mad because Amosun received the guber ticket they coveted when he was not an "original" ACN man. There is too much 'oro' that cannot be said on Nairaland but this issue is mainly about unbridled ego against a Governor who, if Nigeria is a decent Country of upright people, should have very little enemies and distraction, going into a general election, because he is genuinely performing and moving Ogun State forward. I would advise the APC to simply focus on presenting credible candidates to replace the defectors if indeed the revelation here is true. There are some battles you cannot continue running away from hence the reason Amosun and the APC must face and defeat the Osoba faction once and for all. Believe me, they want Amosun's blood and they will not be pacified until they get it or until Amosun becomes his own man and no longer a prisoner to be held hostage by some Senators, Reps and a bitter, egotistical old man who is completely consumed with his own place in the scheme of things rather than partner with what/who is best for the development of Ogun State. |
@OP You are no "political analyst". Merely a scaremongering fantasist and secession-minded anarchist. It is not GEJ's birthright to remain President beyond 2015. It is the Nigerian people who must decide who will lead them and not any region or militia in isolation. The will of the people must prevail in 2015 as was the case in 2011 with GEJ the beneficiary back then. Get that into your head once and for all. Nigeria is greater than any individual or interest group. If GEJ is defeated legitimately then no power or threat can stop the swearing-in and reign of the new President. It is the monumental corruption and hideous misrule GEJ is now universally known for that will see Nigerians agitate for change and get it. GEJ too was a beneficiary of the desire of Nigerians to gain change in 2011 and he has now been President for 5 years despite the threats. Learn from that and stop disturbing this forum with your delusional, divisive and distasteful rants. Let GEJ face others at the poll and defeat them legitimately or leave if he is defeated. That is what democracy is about and you should submit to that reality or keep your crude fantasies to yourself. |
Firefire:Yes and you should show some respect for one of the most administratively sought-after and lauded talent to come out of Africa. Perhaps some of you need to be reminded of this fact when you dump Fashola into the category of political jobbers and 'desperados' many of your political leaders are. If you must mention me, do so sensibly and not in a mischievous manner. Am I Fashola's mind reader to then be asked by you about his "political future"? What I know is that Fashola will be very okay whether he is in politics or not beyond 2015. Worry about the incompetent leaders you support who have nowhere at all to go if the political well runs dry. If not how Nigerians are so shamelessly divided is Fashola not one of the Nigerians we should all be proud of? For his international profile, there is nothing stopping Fashola becoming an important and powerful global Administrator of African descent like Kofi Annan. That is the sort of respect Fashola uncommonly commands as a Nigerian administrator/politician. The rest of humanity worldwide is not as clannish, ethnocentric, bigoted, politically biased or myopic as Nigerians are. |
Firefire:I have noticed that majority of you TANdroids are unexposed simpletons. That is why you think "ee go end for am" once Fashola stops being Lagos Governor. I don't have time to indulge your ignorance in relation to what Fashola has become even beyond Nigeria. To simple-minded and feudal folks like you, every Nigerian politician is like Alao Akala et al who are unable to do anything but seek one political office or the next. Fashola, before anything else, is a very competent and highly respected administrator who has managed one of the most challenging Cities in the world admirably and innovatively to international accolade. Go and think of what that means in the real world and then slap your own face. |
If the state of Nigeria today is viewed without sentiments then it is obvious GEJ has been an unmitigated disaster. Horrendous really. |

Descartes:Whatever I lack, it is not a sound education as is illustratively the case with you. |
Goddex:This clown again? Your clannish/ethno-religious worship of GEJ and bad belle for the SW never takes a break? @Topic. Good development. Nigerians are simply too emotional to see what matters. If you are a businessman from Turkey or Belgium looking to invest in Nigeria, as someone with no ties to any ethnic group or State thus forced to rely on events and realities on the ground, what option will you have other than to settle on an APC-controlled State because of their innovative and proactive approach to attracting FDI and making their environment one within which business/trading can be run with as little hassle as possible? As an example, when Amosun came in as governor of Ogun State I was the first on Nairaland to praise his "one stop" business shop aimed at giving potential investors a destination for their enquiries and FAQs (frequently asked questions) because I appreciated, first hand, how difficult it is to attempt doing business in Nigerian. Amosun worked to demolish bottlenecks others had created because they were obsessed with profit for themselves rather than working in the best interest of their State. Today, it is the deliberate efforts of APC administrators to make their States conducive destination for business, industry and commerce that has culminating in APC States becoming the destination of choice for serious and discerning investors. Nigerians should learn to say the truth and shame the devil. If Nigerians follow what truly matters, in the quest to hold leaders accountable and thus ensure they deliver, then it will easy to see the leaders who delivers on their promises and to note, in contrast, those doing absolutely nada. https://www.nairaland.com/1342547/ogun-state-gov-ibikunle-amosun Gbawe wrote: Amosun has genuinely performed well in terms of attracting investors to the State. His "one stop shop" for potential businesses and investors has certainly been a good idea. From the same article OP submitted:https://www.nairaland.com/1385731/35-new-firms-open-business Gbawe wrote: This began with the setting up of the one-stop shop to reduce bottleneck potential investors faced and to provide them with a single destination for every information/assistance they need to set up business in Ogun State.https://www.nairaland.com/757476/ogun-targets-10000-industries/1 Gbawe wrote: People should forget whether it is 2000, 5000 or 10,000. The 10,000 itself is a target anyway . It is not what should be the object of focus and attention. I am more delighted in the fact that Amosun has correctly recognized the need for a "one-stop shop" for potential investors in Ogun State. It is what many business men have been suggesting to State and federal Government for ages. It takes a leader that wants change to do this because a "one-stop shop" will curtail all the extortion-like dough being collected from the many 'sectors' created unnecessarily to provide more avenue of cynically 'shaking down' potential investors and business folks. |
Descartes:What is this sentimental mofo and pretentious f00l yapping about? |
aresa:Bruv, you have time for these village clowns and unexposed charlatans. Is it a mistake that development agencies and built environment experts worldwide commend Fashola as a stand-out beacon of exemplary innovation, vision and competence in the entire Africa let alone Nigeria? |
Goddex:No. You are the child and an ethnocentric one to boot also with you silly comparison of Fashola to Akpabio. Do you have any sense, honesty and even an iota of objectivity in you at all? I did not mistake you to be from Akwa Ibom. I think every objective Nairalander know those most guilty of not being able to give credit where due once it is a Yoruba person being commended. Only in your ethnocentric and deluded mind will Akpabio reach Fashola's knees let alone be held as anywhere near the Lagos Governor. Ask yourself why, in all Nigeria and even Africa, it is Fashola international development agencies and bodies praise unreservedly. The problem is that most of you are not even minimally exposed and it would be a waste of time showing you what you cannot see because what you are ignorant of is too much to even quantify. |
django1:Don't mind these Villagers. They don't really understand commendable socio-economic development as the rest of the exposed and intelligent world perceives it. Speaks volume that Akpabio's wife is not interested in being first Lady in Akwa Ibom and prefers to live modestly in Lagos. WHere do you begin to make sense to people long on petty hatred yet totally devoid of useful intellect? |
Goddex:As if anyone doubted this is about your inferiority complex and d1ck comparison insecurity. It is backward and ill-exposed Villagers like you, even as it is not a competition, who will compare Akpabio to Fashola. Only to you will your local champion Akpabio be compared to Fashola. When Akpabio makes the list of 100 most influential global thinker then let us know otherwise shut up and take your petty envy and inferiority complex elsewhere. I don't know why you guys can never mind your own business and just enjoy what you claim your leaders are delivering. The Akpabio you make noise about is the same fellow whose wife shuns first lady opulence and privilege in Akwa Ibom to be living as a nobody in Lagos. Hateful villagers like you, with minds totally destroyed by 'bad belle', will never see let alone understand why the entire world is taken with Fashola. Objective Nairalanders, whatever ethnic group they are from, can see Governor Fashola doing Nigeria proud at number 20 below only to be bad-mouthed at home by ethnocentric, despicably prejudiced children of hate and indoctrination who will never give credit where due once it is a Yoruba person under discussion. Disgraceful and sad people. Better not pass this crap on to your children, as your community did to you, so they can at least go through life as normal as possible. http://www.lospaziodellapolitica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/GT-2013-eng-int-1.pdf No 20 BABATUNDE FASHOLAhttp://www.thenigertimes.com/2014/01/lagos-governor-babatunde-fashola-named-top-global-thinker-of-2013.html Lagos' Governor Babatunde Fashola Named Top Global Thinker of 2013 |
django1:Indeed. Even from Nairaland, one could be forgiven for thinking the SW is Nigeria thanks to those who obsess about the region 24/7 yet have nothing to say about their own State and region. Talk about the development going on in your own region/State and they will be angry. Yet they never talk about or promote their own and are only ever found obsessing about everything to do with the SW. Next minute they will talk of "media hype" without realising they are the one underselling themselves and busy putting others in the spotlight, home and abroad, with their penchant for rushing in to talk about every little thing to do with the SW when most people of the region are not really interested in the affair of others. There is just no pleasing these children of hate. |
@Topic. Nice ![]() |
Goddex:Why are you people such perennial haters? Fashola commissioned a completed project as he is duty-bound to do if his schedule allow such. A Lagosian Nairalander has now brought news of another commissioned project here. How does that amount to "making noise" and why must you again express obvious anger and bad belle over what should not concern you? Is it a bad thing that the SW is a region predisposed to reading, writing, public discourse and journalistic reportage? If folks in your neck of the wood do not highlight the work of their leader do not then insinuate it is a crime when others do so. This is the norm worldwide. Go to skyscrapercity.com and see illustrations of my point. If Lagosians want to illustrate every thing Fashola does , little or large, then feel free to do same for your Governor and State or shut up !!! You people's hate and bad belle for others is nauseating. It is a free world abeg. Learn to respect that notion. |
mikeansy:How many times will this lie be repeated in the hope it will be viewed as the truth and then used against Buhari? Buhari did not organise a Military coup. The man himself has explicitly and satisfactorily explained events as they happened back then. High and middle-ranking military officers organised a coup d'etat and then asked Buhari to become head of State. Should he refuse? Today, right before our eyes, an almost identical situation is taking place. Blaise Campaore has been forced out in Burkina Faso. Isaac Zida, a Military officer, is now interim leader of the nation. He never asked or plotted to be in that position. Circumstances put him there same as Buhari. The AU is already bullying Zida to hand over to civilians within two weeks and the interim leader of Burkna Faso has rejected this and even stated he is not afraid of sanctions and will not be rushed. If Zida want to pursue a political career in future then I am sure there will be revisionist Burkinabes , as there are revisionist Nigerians lying against Buhari, claiming he had a hand in "dethroning" a legitimate government. No one is buying this stale accusation against Buhari any more. What is crystal clear, as was the case with 'sit tight' and worthless Campaore in Burkina Faso, is that Nigeria is in wrong hands and poverty-ravaged ordinary Nigerians, not educated/wealthy and opinionated folks like you, now view Buhari as the solution because of his qualities which put him head and shoulder above others. You will achieve nothing with these threads. You only need to look at events of 2011 to know Nigerians were unmovable in their determination to vote for the "boy with no shoes" , regardless of what anyone said, because they viewed him as change. Remember that throughout 2010 and 2011 I personally brought GEJ's record of corruption, mediocrity and ineptitude to Nairaland in the hope Nigerians would see what they were letting themselves in for? My friend, tell me what that achieved. You don't know your people. Keep wasting your own time. I will enjoy watching your futile efforts gleefully. |
mikeansy:Why do you hate Buhari so much? You forget me and you come a long way on this forum. You are the same chap who was a fan of Atiku in the past and even touted him a potentially good president. How, even in a nightmare, is Atiku more desirable than Buhari? Of all these crooks parading themselves as leaders, to include GEJ, who is better than Buhari? My brother, tell yourself some basic truth. |
Mikeansy, my old friend, you need to chill on this Buhari issue. You are trying too hard. It is GEJ's abject misrule and nauseating corruption that has turned GMB into a man who is beginning to resemble a messianic saviour. Deal with it !!! Your millions of threads to denigrate Buhari only wins him more fans. Nonetheless, you are my pal and I wish you well in your 'mission'. Don't say I did not warn you though. |
Descartes:Dude, it is assertion. You talk condescendingly and bigotedly here yet I have noticed you cannot even spell properly thus indicating that, at best, your basic education is highly 'suspect'. Are you another of Nairaland's fake Professors, Mansion owners and CEO? You will soon be busted by the 'picture crew' and shown up for what you really are. You TANdroids are always predictable with how you love any 'pal' of GEJ, however vile and worthless, while you hate anyone perceived an enemy of GEJ however competent and administratively effective they are. At least El-Rufai is well-educated which is something we cannot say for you. What mark people like you out as vile reprobates is that you do not ever consider what is best for the Nigerian people and those best placed to deliver such. You just hate some clannishly and support others in the same vein. It is your kind, just because you deem them enemies of GEJ, always hating on competent administrators like Fashola, Amosun, Aregbesola , kwanwaso et al. Go and look dispassionately at El-Rufai's history as a leader and public administrator before you come here talking bigoted rubbish. |
I am solidly behind El-Rufai. I am not his fan 100% and thinks he needs to tone down his uncompromising outlook which often portrays him as extremist. Nonetheless I think he has the basic 'ingredients' to make a good Governor. He is tenacious, politically brave, very intelligent, highly innovative and result-driven. A potentially effective and transformational Governor. |
PStacks:Anybody, whatever corner of Nigeria they come from, will find it easy to be an "Amosun man" if they are genuine supporters of progress and development. |
vedd:Thank you. These ethnocentric and petty rabble-rousers are merely envious that Tinubu continues to gather accolades for his endeavours while those they are devoted to worshipping are never praised or recognised by anyone. The young man behind AYE appears impressive himself and I can see why he would find Tinubu a laudable leader. Some people, hence the reason they will always remain losers and failures, simply do not know that shunning sentiments to give credit where due is an indication of a positive and winning mentality. |
Dee60:Well-said. A major issue is that these egotistical old men can simply not accept that things have changed and that the modern administrators Tinubu has helped to power all want to make a difference rather than just play politics of patronage which always stifles socio-economic development. Amosun deserve four more years and I expect Ogun folks will fight passionately to ensure he gets it. His impressive achievements are there for all to see and feel. |
patrickmuf:Bro, why do you think I ignored them? Grown azz old men and 'agbayas' acting like cowardly b1itches and calling their 'area father' ,probably many years their junior, to come and fight for them. They cannot speak on the topic at hand but would rather invoke the name of some fabled champion to come and take the lead so they can queue pathetically behind this individual. I don't know the character they mentioned but I can only guess it is another Tinubu/Buhari/APC hating TANdroid. If that is indeed the case then only jobless folks will have time for those sort. They should all pray they have the success and vision of the young man deservedly honouring Tinubu instead of coming here in myopic, unobjective and blind hatred of others. Tinubu is a great man and those not blinded by ethnocentric bias and political prejudice will have no problem seeing or acknowledging this even if they don't like the man. Instead of busying themselves to become like the impressive young man behind this initiative, these losers are too consumed with mindless hating and b1tching.
