PoliticsRe: House Of Reps Members Angry With David Mark (video) by Gbawe: 2:00pm On Nov 21, 2014
OP.

You make me laugh. Do you not even hear an aggrieved politician shouting at the chastened and cowering Ihedioha that "because we do not have security" clearly indicating the toxic anger at how the NPF partisanly allowed Ihedioha ( a deputy to Tambuwal) into the NASS while shutting out Tambuwal et al?

If you cannot understand the anger and actions of these guys which saw the disgraceful desecration of their place of work by partisan politics, to the extent Mark and Ihedioha were humbly chastened, then you are simply a partisan and sentimental individual with no objectivity whatsoever. GEJ wants to import divisions into the NASS, as he did with the NGF, so that he profits from a divided house and toxic legislature. GEJ put Ihedioha, in particular, in a very difficult situation and this is why the deputy speaker appears crestfallen rather than defiant or argumentative. Belive me, Mark and Ihedioha fully understand the anger of their own comrades and this is why you see them humble and chastened.

Indeed. Buhari is not a messiah but the main attraction of his Presidency is his dedication to doing the right thing by ordinary Nigerians without the slightest interest for what benefits AGIPs, Private Jet Oligarchs and the elite class. This is what Nigeria needs above anything else.

Their Salvation rally or whatsoever NEVER obstruct nor hinder the Police to carry out their lawful duties but Police action does that to the Parliament. While the jumping of the fence do not befit the HoR members but they are let with no option than to jump over. Note that they have the prior knowledge that Tambuwal will be impeached (as planned in Ekiti, that is why all 19 APC lawmakers were not in the state yesterday because of fear of unknow).
The IGP said the Police acted on report holidums invading the chambers, they allow PDP members in, stop APC members including the known person of Tambuwal as the status quo Speaker. As a political analyst, the Presidency writing Tambuwal on extension of emergency rule was to lure in into recovening the House (because it has now drawn on them that only Tambuwal can reconvene). The writting of Tambuwal by Presidency is signalling that the Presidency is recognising Tambuwal as the Speaker while the President, PDP and IGP are playing another script.

The script was to allow the house recovene by Tambuwal, block him and other APC members has they can get the required number of quorum to sit, motion move to impeached Tambuwal, and Tambuwal will be impeached even without 2/3 majority and the President like Fayose will congratulate the new Speaker as Jonathan is recognise Jang is the NGF leader with 16 votes against Ameachi with 19 votes. That is why these APC lawmakers (in my own opinion) goes that extent....I think they as far as we should not celebrate the action of jumping over the fence, we should also not comdened them for same action. Because is not that actions of them, news headline will have been similar to that Ekiti since yesterday.

Let us all fight against impunity because today is Tambuwal (a northerner) tomorrow it might be us and remember that history has a way of repeating itself, if we can not all stand against this high level impunity and lawlessness by this current FG under Jonathan will may find ourselves to balme in the nearest future when the history will repeat itself ten fold simultanously.
Well-said.

Get lost worthless bigot. "Go and die". I have made my point now and the forum can see the prejudice-driven hypocrisy you bigoted id1ats operate with. Emphatic condemnation of the actions of the NPF has been coming in and will continue while anarchists and bigots like you feign ignorance over what matters most to be hypocritically shouting about some Reps keen to prevent another illegal impeachment the lawless PDP is known for and had indeed even carried out the same day in Ekiti under Fayose. Shameless bigots like you are always disgracing Nigeria and never to be found supporting what is right and just as others do.

NASS Chaos: Sagay, others condemn police action at National Assembly
A constitutional lawyer, Itse Sagay, has condemned Thursday’s action by the police at the National Assembly complex.

There was chaos when the police locked the gates of the National Assembly against the Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal, and some legislators who wanted to gain entrance.
Some of the lawmakers and their aides were also tear gassed by the security operatives in the process before they were able to get it.
Speaking in a telephone interview with NAN in Lagos, Mr. Sagay said the action of the police on the legislators portends a great danger to Nigeria’s democracy.

He said: “What transpired today at the National Assembly portends a great danger to Nigeria’s democracy.
“For the police to have attacked the legislature, which is the second arm of government, such an attack must have been sanctioned from above.
Sagay advised security operatives to maintain neutrality at all times, adding that they had no constitutional powers to interfere with legislative processes.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria also warned those in power not to throw away Nigeria’s hard won democracy because of inordinate ambitions and selfish interests.

Speaking similarly, Onyekachi Ubani, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja branch, urged Nigerian leaders to focus on the current challenges being faced by the country.
“We are battling with austerity, we are battling with the state of insecurity, we are battling with low levels of infrastructures and Nigerians are really suffering.

“But in the light of all these, our leaders are only fighting themselves and looking for more political powers. It is so shameful,” Mr. Ubani said.
He also flayed the police for attempting to stop the House of Representative members from performing their constitutional duties.
Mr. Ubani said: “What is the business of the security agencies in stopping legislators elected by the people from coming into the house?
“It is not their job to do whatever they did this morning. They allowed some persons in and stopped others which showed that they were clearly partisan.

He noted that while it was shameful to see lawmakers scaling the fence to gain entrance into the complex, those who did so were only out to prove a point.
“They were only trying to prove a point that not even the police can stop them from carrying out the responsibility entrusted to them by the Constitution,” Mr. Ubani said.
Human Rights lawyers, Fred Agbaje and Kayode Ajulo, also condemned action of the Police.
In his reaction, Mr. Agbaje, told NAN in a telephone interview that what the policemen did was “sacrilegious”.
“The attack by the police on the National Assembly was unwarranted and is capable of truncating our democracy,” Mr. Agbaje said.

On the constitutional right of the Senate President, David Mark, to adjourn sitting of the assembly until next week following the police invasion, Mr. Agbaje said that Mark had the right to do so.
“He is the head of the National Assembly and has the right to adjourn if the members were in danger of an attack,” he said.
Mr. Ajulo, told NAN that “police incessant dabbling into the nation’s politics has got to stop”.
He advised the IG to call his men to order especially now that politicking for 2015 was gathering momentum. (NAN)

Don't mind them, they thought they could lock all APC reps outside and solely carry out their devilish act just like 7 PDP reps "impeached" their speaker on their own accord. I suppot the actions of those reps FULLY.

Important question: Was it Tambuwal who was supposed to be locked outside or all APC Reps?
http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2014/11/20/shame-of-a-nation-tambuwal-legislators-teargassed/

Trouble began when Tambuwal arrived and sought to drive into the Complex, but was stopped by the police.
The Speaker, who was accompanied by other lawmakers who are his loyalists, mostly members of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, then alighted from his vehicle trekked from the gates to the main complex, a distance of over 500 metres amid a hail of teargas by the police.
The Speaker whose security details have been ordered withdrawn by Suleiman Abba, the Inspector General of Police, following the defection has filed a suit to stop his removal by the PDP caucus of the House led by Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha.
P.M.NEWS learnt that members of the House were anxious over speculations that the Presidency, which is still smarting from the defection of the Speaker, may employ extra constitutional means to stop Tambuwal from presiding when the House reconvened on Thursday.
It was believed that the move to stop the Speaker from entering the National Assembly on Thursday was in furtherance of the move by the PDP using the police to remove him.

Had Ihedioha and others not been allowed in without hassle only for Tambuwal to be prevented entrance and even tear-gased like a criminal? These people have no shame honestly !!!!!!

You have no point. I'm in full support of what those reps did. Yesterday 7 PDP lawmakers were irresponsible enough to declare their speaker impeached at Ekiti. When PDP lawmakers were before hand allowed access into the house and all APC members locked outside, it was already obvious the plans of PDP to solely impeach Tambuwal Speaker. I support their actions FULLY.
Don't mind the bigoted fools. They can never reason correctly, honestly or fairly when it is the interest of their ethnic/sectional affiliate that is threatened. Did the enter universe not witness what Amaechi and legislators loyal to him managed to prevent (the first step in the removal of Amaechi) by storming their State legislative house to directly stop an ongoing minority-driven impeachment attempt !!! Was the NPF not also used partisanly back then also?

It is the way of the PDP the Party has been getting away with , since 1999 under OBJ, but no one is in the mood to tolerate such a few months before a general election. Fence jumping my foot !!! Bloody bigots and hypocrites cannot even see the essence of this development shaming Nigeria internationally yet they go on about some Reps determined to thwart another potential illegal impeachment the dictatorial PDP has shown a brazen penchant for carrying out when determined to get its way.

You want to lie the PDP does not have previous form when it comes to illegal impeachment through the partisan usage of the NPF (Nigerian Police force)? When PDP Senators and the Deputy Speaker we are told is going to be used to impeach Tambuwal had already being admitted with no hassle whatsoever then the Reps loyal to democracy and legality should simply wait outside while another illegal impeachment, which will then be quickly ratified PDP-style, is carried out by a desperate, dictatorial and sit-tight President fully committed to using everything (legal or otherwise) to return to power?

You need to shut up with this fence-jumping angle you are pushing !!! Laughable. The PDP, out of sheer 2015 desperation, now acting in an intolerantly despicable and dictatorial manner that will only see even its most staunch allies begin to sympathise with and support APC. When the speaker has not been formally and authoritatively declared to have lost his position, how can he be tear-gassed like a common criminal?

At this time when Nigeria is alarmingly and dangerously divided, these sort of directly incendiary and antagonistic actions from the PDP are not what we need ahead of a general election that is itself going to be 'war'. Politicians have been warned to check their ambition and not plunge the nation in chaos. Certainly some folks are too power-drunk to listen as was the case before the civil war.

Truly impressive. But I believe more can be done.
It is very important that states diligently look inward and exploit all means available to increase their IGRs, because of the current decrease in oil price. Many states' monthly allocation have been drastically reduced that if it continues like it's going, many states won't be able to survive. Since the FG that has been doling out money everymonth itself is going broke.

I'm sure Ogun's IGR is mainly from tax, thanks to the high numbers of private higher institutions(highest in the country), massive cement and steel rolling factories scattered allover the state. But this is not enough. The government should look into service rendering (transport services like lightrail...) and production.
Bro, performing administrators like Amosun will often have innovatively identified and proactively planned for what we want to see even if we are not aware of this. Yet we all know there is not enough funds to do everything at once. Would it surprise you to know that Ogun has already signed an MOU for a light rail network? Aside Lagos,Abuja, Rivers and one or two others, how many States, to include those receiving more FG allocation than Ogun, have plans for a modern light rail network in Nigeria? Amosun is simply one of the best Governors in Nigeria let us be honest. We all know more can be done but this is not for a lack of effort at all.

http://www.ogunstate.gov.ng/media-centre-66/ogun-news/366-towards-a-mega-city-amosun-signs-mou-on-light-rail-project.html

Towards A Mega City: Amosun Signs MOU On Light Rail Project

Ogun State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on light rail mass transit with the China Civil Engineering Construction Company that will link major cities in the state as well as boost its economy.

While signing the MOU in his Oke-Mosan Office in Abeokuta, Governor Ibikunle Amosun noted that there can be no development without putting the necessary infrastructures in place. He said “ We have been doing our best on roads but it is high time we paid attention to rail as well. We are starting the mass transit within Abeokuta metropolis. This will be extended to all our major towns including the Ado-Odo/Ota axis which will encompass all the border area with Lagos”.

“Our first focus is intra city rail mass transit, thereafter we will embark on linking the cities together. Within the next couple of years, you will begin to see the results of what we are trying to do to improve transportation of goods and services”,he said.

Governor Amosun said it was imperative to boost transportation in the state since the state population is projected to rise significantly over the next couple of years.

In his remarks the Managing Director of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, Mr. Cao Bao Gang applauded the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration for its developmental vision for the state, pointing out that, ’’ the project on completion will enhance the transportation system and contribute to the economic development of the Gateway State.’’

He assured that the highest quality will be deployed in the implementation of the project adding that ‘’it will provide jobs for residents and help the unskilled ones to gain adequate knowledge through training and involvement in the whole process.

The signing of the MOU was witnessed by top government functionaries including the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mrs. Abimbola Akeredolu, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu as well as the Chinese Consul-General, Liu Xian Fa, among others.

Madam, if those before Amosun have done what the governor is doing presently in term of urban renewal and provision of necessary infrastructures that'll make the state a comfortable place for those living there, all these points you listed would be what he'll be working on now.
It's a step at a time.
No doubt there are LOTS to be done.
You even have time providing a serious response to that person. Perhaps she needs to go and find out the governor that took up the responsibility of the FG and raised private funds to buy the most sophisticated APCs (Armoured personnel carriers) in Nigeria , plus many patrol van and crime-fighting equipment, all in the quest to make his State safer. Let us remember that it is the duty of the FG to provide these yet Amosun did not wait for them in the effort to make Ogun safe for habitation, work, trade and business. You can see pictures of the APCs Amosun purchased below. How many Nigerian Governors have done this? Do we not know they would rather buy private jets? Amosun,on the other hand, never stops buying crime-fighting equipment for the NPF. The 50 Patrol vans donated in the article below were only a short while ago !!!!!

How can anyone then be tasking Amosun on security when the man has gone far and above the financial obligation and executive responsibility of his office? Short of letting Ogun State have State police, there is virtually nothing Amosun can do he has not done and even beyond. That is why, when I would normally ignore such, I was irritated by the dishonest and bitter rant of that character. Amosun has even been honoured as best security conscious State governor in West Africa (see below) for his proactive effort to make Ogun safer. Is it such a person, who has gone far above his duties, any sane person will indict of not providing security? What does that tell you about all the other issues raised by that character?

Ogun-gives-50-patrol-vehicles-to-policeGovernor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state, western Nigeria boosted the protection of the citizens by donating
50 patrol vehicles to the Police and other security agencies.
Fourty-five of the patrol Hilux vehicles were bankrolled with the proceeds from the State Security Trust Fund, while the state government paid for additional five vehicles.
To Governor Amosun, the provision of vehicles to the police should serve as a signal for the hoodlums and criminals that they should not undermine the festive period in the state.
At the brief handover ceremony at the arcade ground, Okemosan, Abeokuta, Amosun said his administration had spent about N10b in providing security for the people of the state.
He said that his administration would continue to provide enabling environment for the residents and investors alike as part of rebuilding mission of his government.
“Because security to one is security to all, we are determined to ensure that our people are safe and our investors too are safe. In the last two years, at least by the end of the outgoing year, we as a
government have spent about N10b to provide security for the state, and we are pleased by the effort, as it is yielding results. The Security Watch again for the second time has recognized us as the best
in terms of security”, Amosun stated.
The governor commended the Security Trust Fund for the gesture.

Wow! Impressive. Gradually, Ogun state is reducing her dependence on Federal allocation.
Lagos has done it.
Wish ever states of the federation can also do this. Federal allocation should be some sort of bonus and emergency intervention funds.

From my rough calculation.
If Ogun state generate an internal revenue of N99.35b in 2015, which is 47.23% of a budget of N210.354b.
Then the state generates N8.279 each month.

Awesome.
You have spotted precisely what is most important about this development. This is what we want and should insist on in Nigeria. States should be up and doing in the quest to increase IGR and attain self-sufficiency which comes after a State can independently raise all the funds it needs to finance to run herself.

Most States of Nigeria can achieve this over time if governors are innovative, visionary, driven and totally focused. Whether some people want to see what matters or not, it is a fact that raising IGR aggressively, in the drive to becoming self-financing, is a cornerstone policy of the then ACN and now APC.

This is indeed an impressive development.

Gbawe you should not have engaged that nonentity with a response. He is as empty and useless as the moniker he uses.

Please learn to ignore people. Check their previous post on NL then you will realise there are just waste of space.
Man mi, I usually ignore cretins like that but their annoying antics, especially against one of the stellar performers post 2011, is deserving of condemnation sometimes. Imagine this welcomed news of how Ogun's IGR is moving the state towards becoming self-financing as we all say we want to see and all some god-forsaken cretin can contribute is id1ocy when we should all praise this development while those who are not from Ogun should go and challenge their Governors to follow suit. One cannot even discuss anything productively these days without some uncouth and near-illiterate f00l who should be in the Nollywood section contributing their annoying and imbecilic opinions.

It is easier for one to stop clashes between Israelis and Palestinians than to persuade some people to become reasonable.

Go figure.
So annoying my brother. One cannot even discuss serious developments sensibly any more because of the dumb, highly unreasonable, dishonest and mindless rants of some cretins. Even more annoying when the stuupid drivel and bile is directed at a Governor who is, without doubt, one of the best in Nigeria. As if we are blessed with performers everywhere to then be insulting the few we have who are using the money of the State on the people rather than on private jets and sponsored shopping trips to London and Dubai for their numerous concubines.
