Aregbesola is the quintessential Yoruba 'omoluabi'. His love for his people , and desire to secure progress for them, is not in doubt. Certainly a Governor with big ideas who needs more funds yet is hampered by the unwieldy structure of Nigeria and the fake federal system granting an indolent centre so much cash and power when all Nigerians live in States and local governments.

Thank you. I laugh when I see these desperate efforts at pathetic scaremongering obviously aimed at frightening the pivotal SW from voting Buhari. I will advise OP and his ilk to stop wasting their own time. The Yorubas, when election is free and fair, will not tolerate or indulge misrule. We only need to look at the decimation of the PDP in the SW in 2011, where even the daughter of former President OBJ could not win the ward outside her father's house, to know that the folks of the SW will always reject misrulers.

Jonathan is no longer the "boy with no shoes" or "fresh air". Nigerians have seen him in action over 5 years to know he is hideously corrupt, highly inept and a divisive misruler. He has no goodwill left in the SW because he has failed Nigeria monumentally and also encouraged his minions (Dokubo Asari et al) to wage an abusive ethnic war of attrition against the Yorubas. I can't speak for others but I know the Yorubas will not abide with GEJ to then give him 4 more years. OP and others should find better things to do with their time.

Bros, stop this weird mixture of Alingo, Azonto and skelewu dance you are displaying here. What happened is fairly obvious. A list is produced that should make Nigerians reflect soberly and honestly about our need to do more and concentrate on what matters . Yet one of your fellow cretins waded in shamelessly with tribalistic and prejudiced barbs against Northerners while simultaneously using blatant deception to deliberately downplay the representative strength of the Yorubas simply to derail revelation which does not favour his ethnocentric delusions of grandeur. You guys must always divisively introduce ethnicity into everything. You must always seek out what divides and polarise people to then focus on promoting such things.

It is your pal who counted 3 Yorubas as one and claimed a Yoruba woman is "middle belt", so he could come out with the deceptive conclusion that aligns with the chest-beating of you lot, that made me respond to this thread. Otherwise I am not really interested in topics like this because I know the reality which is that Nigerians, for their collective mouthing-off, are simply not as great or as superior to others as they imagine themselves to be. You and others like you are the kings of such delusions you would lie to uphold as your pal Omexonomy did here.

Are you not describing you and your kinsmen with the above? Ask any Nairalander from any Nigerian ethnic group who they associate with chest-beating and supremacist drivel and I am sure you know what their answer will be. Stop deceiving yourself. Why don't you start a thread about "who are the braggarts of Nigeria" and see what the response of your fellow Nigerians will be? Yorubas don't care about these sort of list, which even identifies a serious problem and shows Nigerians as under-performing seriously, let alone be interested in using such to brag inanely. That is your forte which you are well-known for.

How many Yorubas have responded here to say we are 3 out of 4 and thus superior,"business kings" or god-anointed business masters ahead of other "lazy Nigerians" because of this list as you and your ilk have always done to the extent you are now associated with empty chest-beating routinely? Most Yorubas are secure in themselves and don't have anything to prove to anyone. I only joined this thread to give unto Ceasar what belongs to Ceaser after your brother in bigotry tried blatant abracadabra to uphold his bad belle for others. I actually think these lists show that Nigerians are merely all mouth same as the recent picture-expose on Nairaland showed you "mansion owners" and "CEOs"to be all mouth also.

Shut up and GTF out of here. I cannot be labelled what my posts (over 10,000.00 of them) show conclusively I am not. Just because the few posts you have here conclusively damn you as ethnocentric does not mean you should try and desperately drag others into your gutter of bigotry. I am simply a proud Yoruba who will defend his ethic group against malicious and malevolent slurs from hateful bigots like you. I make no apologies for that and will use facts to to correct attempts to denigrate Yoruba folks which is a favourite pastime for folks like you, Omexonomy and many others here.

The challenge is for you to back your assertion by showing any of my posts, since you have over 10,000 examples, where I put down other Nigerian ethnic groups and clearly insinuate they are inferior to mine. Do that or stop wasting my time because we all know those who are obsessed with empty supremacist rants on Nairaland which is never borne out by the reality lists like these, time and time again, reveal. That is why the revelation of this list is strangling your throat. That is why Omexonomy lied, deliberately and dishonestly under-counted a list of a few names and even deny a Yoruba woman of her heritage to support his past supremacist drivel this list, just like many other lists, discredits entirely. Thank you. This is the tragedy of these sort of lists. While some are looking pathetically at the number of names from their ethic group, to use in some supremacist battle, we all fail to recognise the main point which is that these lists, for all the noise we make, should be dominated by Nigerians. No ifs and buts. Considering our population, making us the biggest black nation on earth, and acclaimed intelligence then we should be setting the pace for others. I think Nigerians attach a lot of hype to themselves when they should actually get busy to justify their own braggadocio and supremacist drivel.

Nigerians (myself included) are risk-averse, and prefer safe cushy jobs with guaranteed money cheesy
This is completely true. It is down to our background which emphasises complete focus on academic excellence leading to prestige employment (doctor, lawyer, Engineer, Accountant et al) which offers guaranteed moderate wealth and stability but is predictable, 'safe' and risk-averse. Not many Nigerian parents would support a child who wants to be maverick, an entertainer or a businessman/businesswoman. I think attitude has to change because Africa would not be flooded with opportunity-seekers from outside our continent if we ourselves know how to identify and take advantage of opportunities within our border. While many Nigerians are obsessed with getting 5 masters degree and being a doctor/banker/engineer et al, the South African (Shoprite) is happy catering directly to niche needs by offering grocery services.

Other foreigners are happy to take up opportunities we neglect in our obsession with snaring white collar jobs. We need to begin thinking outside the box or run the risk of being glorified slaves in our own land because of our lack of focus which means we obsess over the wrong things instead of focusing on innovatively delivering Nigerian/African solutions for Nigerian/African problems.

Not that it matters though but just wanted to correct you. There are two yorubas there, one igbo and one middle belt
Not one
Thanks Alhaji. There are actually 3 Yorubas on the list. The guy you quoted is an anti-Yoruba bigot well known for his prejudiced utterances here, See as he rushed in to proclaim Otitotu as "middle belt" when she is Yoruba and is even famous for fusing the Yoruba 'aso oke' into her designs. It is obvious ethnicity matters to this guy above merit or anything else.

Naturally he could not stand that Yorubas were in the majority on the list so he had to do 'ojoro' to undercount them, claim a Yoruba as "middle belt" and then have a dig at Northerners while at it. So much innate prejudice and ethnocentric malice. I swear, most Nigerian youths are worthless in comparison to their peers worldwide. This is why Nigeria is going nowhere lately even with our large population that should give us immense manpower advantage.

You,ve always been a raving lunatic anyway so no surprise you are talking about some fire about to engulf you personally. The fact is that Aregbesola, like most Yoruba Moslems, has not shown anything to indicates he discriminates against any religion. This has always been so. Why is it today and now that divisive elements and anarchists like you, 'coincidentally' ardent supporters of GEJ and mindless haters of the APC, are beginning to insist otherwise?

Who have you lot not tagged Islamist, whether Fashola or Tinubu, simply because they are moslems when religion was an issue that was never a big deal in the SW? Is it not obvious to honest folks that GEJ and the PDP have deliberately decided to practise politics of enmity, ethnic/religious intolerance and divisiveness instead of directly tackling Boko Haram, corruption and the many grave issues troubling Nigeria? You really are a sad little man.
PoliticsRe: Osun State Declares 27th October Public Holiday To Mark Islamic New Year. by Gbawe: 7:24pm On Oct 26, 2014
@Topic.

The irony of Nigerian today, indicating a dangerous level of malevolent bigotry Nigerians currently host for each other, is that many condemning Aregbesola here (probably about 80% of respondents to this thread) have zilch to do with Osun or even the SW. Yet they intolerantly wish to tell Osun folks what they must accept or rise up against.

I know some people will always be jealous of the "religiously tolerant" tag attached to the Yorubas. They would love, by hook or by crook, to associate the SW with religious extremism even when this is entirely imagined and fabricated. This is why they never mind their business and are now shedding crocodile tears over Osun when they are the same posters always mocking the State and Yoruba folks. If Osun folks have no problem with this then what concerns the man from Anambra, Edo or Benue State with this development? If the youths are the future then it is no wonder the old boys have no intention of handing Nigeria into the hands of the Nigerian youth who have not shown any capacity or maturity for leadership.

Bruv, this is how much GEJ and the PDP has divided Nigeria along lines that used to be irrelevant or at least toned-down. Would there have been any protest over this holiday, especially from folks who do not live in Osun and have nothing to do with the state like the first few respondents to this thread , in the days of Yar Adua and Obasanjo?

Every single damn thing is now viewed by many Nigerians through ethnic and religious goggles. Yorubas say what the eyes is looking for it will find. Let some continue promoting hate, enmity and intolerance. We understand this was the case before the civil war. When we have another civil strife then all the hate-mongers should remember the part they played with their intolerant, extremely dangerous and bigoted drivel.

PoliticsRe: Fashola For President In 2019? by Gbawe:
CFCfan:
The recent body language of Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, suggests he wants nothing to do with being a running mate to either Buhari or Atiku. Instead, Fashola may likely seek a Senatorial nomination; and he is a sure bet to win both the Senatorial primary and the February general election.

However, if the APC loses the presidential election, I wouldn't mind a Senator Fashola becoming the APC presidential nominee for the 2019 election. By then, his combined 8 years as a governor, and 4 years as a Senator should be adequate experience needed to run for the highest office in the land.
Bro, I think this is wrong. If anything, the accusation is that Fashola is very keen to be VP candidate to Buhari. Analysed pragmatically, one has to conclude why not? Without beating about the bush, and because I am talking to a Nairalander I believe has always shown an ability to rise above sentiments and view issues pragmatically, we all know all the events of the past few years have dovetailed to mean the APC will go with a Northern candidate as the best chance of the opposition to defeat a highly unscrupulous and failed incumbent.

Buhari is immensely popular and his outing last time for a new Party (CPC) was esepcially impressive considering Ribadu split the votes against a President who had Nigerian and universal goodwill and "fresh air" momentum behind him. Even Fashola , given we all credit him with intelligence and vision, will know Buhari is the right fit for 2015. The North has suffered immensely under GEJ and is in no mood for 'more of the same'. The region wants GEJ out more than any other in Nigeria. Who best to deliver the Northern vote than the most electorally popular individual in the region i.e Buhari?

We then come to the game-changing South-West. If the immensely popular and much-loved Fashola is VP to Buhari, this can be the combination that delivers the pivotal SW for the APC when we all know and accept the North is Buhari's for the taking. Fashola is one of the few candidate capable of making many in the SW overlook their reservation about Buhari to massively vote APC. Fashola, as many Nigerians want, is then virtually guaranteed the Presidency after a Buhari regime I personally suspect would be one term of 4 years. If Buhari emerges the APC candidate then I thinkt he will nominate Fashola as his VP. You are talking about the Senate for Fashola but I believe you don't understand Fashola is now a global force who can ask for any office universally. The man knows his own worth and the immense universal goodwill he commands. You think Fashola will be happy to go and sit in the Senate frustratedly playing impotent pen-pusher, at the mercy of others, when he is now someone used to making real administrative input that makes a difference and transforms how people live? Bro, I doubt it. VP is the only role I see Fashola desiring and deserving.

Thank you!!!! The APC is the Party with momentum and goodwill behind it. Why squander that by taking on the distractions of those who no longer have the "fresh air" or "boy with no shoes" ruse working for them? What GEJ benefited from in 2011, i.e being seen as the change Nigeria needed, is the very same factor that will banish him. He is no longer seen as "transformation" or a departure from the past. 5 years has shown Nigerians that GEJ, even with his PHD and lack of shoes, is actually more corrupt, more inept and a greater misruler than past leaders Nigerians expected him to be a departure from.

APC is now seen as a change Nigerians have no choice but to embrace. We should promote the positive, vastly superior and genuinely transformational policies/initiatives of the Party rather than allow supporters of failed leadership to derail our focus and drag us into the gutter they deserve to occupy because of their clannish and ethnocentric support of a President who is universally acclaimed to be hideously corrupt and a monumental failure. We can allow desperate losers to make this about Buhari or we can dictate the pace to firmly make affairs about highlighting the monumental failings of the current Government that means Nigerians have no option but to embrace change.

He collects 2.3mn to the over 23mn his colleagues collects monthly stating that is his own fair allowance and anything more is corruption.

I'm ready to take them on as long as the spew rubbish and halftruths about him .
This is precisely my point. They are always going to do this because they have nothing to sell GEJ on. When threads like these should be used to show Nigerians the better and by far superior plans the APC has for them, it is us APC fans who can then bog ourselves down unproductively via entertaining the distractions of these losers who want the attention they know will derail the substantive point of threads like these.

The elections are only a few months away and there is no profit to be gained engaging worthless TANdroids in a game of deceit they are clearly playing because they are not equipped to make affairs issue-based. Their messiah GEJ has failed all Nigerians massively. I just think we are better served focusing on the positives the APC offers instead of getting into the gutter with desperados and loser who are in the unfortunate position of supporting a leader who had 5 years to deliver solutions but was only capable of worsening things abysmally.

There is a popular prayer in Nigeria which says God will help us avoid those whose lives are fully destroyed and are only looking for others to take down with them. This is how I see Jonathanians. I.e vile and intolerant bigots who now wish to do everything to support a failed leader most objective Nigerians, including those who voted for him in 2011, have rejected.

Koro-mi, Koro-bucci . Even as this is not confirmed, I would not be surprised if it is true given the character of "Koro-bucci". I think we all know frivolity, pettiness and agberoism is the style of Obanikoro. Unfortunately for him, Lagosians are not interested in Tinubu's teeth. Lagosians want progress and they know Obanikoro does not represent this at all. All Korobucci needs is to draft Tiwa Savage, Don Jazzy et al into his team to complete the band of entertaining clowns Lagosians view him to be about these days.

This immature outburst one would expect from a 5 year old kid, rather than a politician who wants to lead one of the biggest mega-cities in the world, damns Obanikoro as a 'Dinosaur' politicians who still thinks this is the outdated "do or die" days of the past PDP revelled in.
PoliticsRe: APC Six Points Agenda: State Of Origin To Be Abolished by Gbawe: 8:24am On Oct 25, 2014
@Topic.

This 6 point agenda is actually abridged. Genuine supporters of the APC will know that the Party has stonking, pro-people, socialist and genuinely transformational plans for Nigeria the elitist and private-jet oligarchy called the PDP would never contemplate in a million years let alone implement today or tomorrow. Which progressive Nigerians, for example, does not believe State Policing is the way to go given the complexity of Nigeria and the notion we have now got to a stage where particular policing solution must be applied to suit the peculiarity of Nigerian States?

In a poverty-ridden Country where Senators laugh all the way to the bank yet unemployed young Nigerians suffer horribly and poor elderly/vulnerable Nigerians are without any help , is the APC plan of social welfare for these groups and other disadvantaged Nigerians not a very welcomed and needed initiative? People, let us face ideas so that Nigerians can see which Party has better plans for them. There is so much that needs to be done and the PDP is not interested in delivering even 2% of this. That is the harsh reality we face and that is why the anti-people and pro-elite PDP has taken Nigeria backwards in 16 years when nations are transformed massively in even half of that i.e 8 years. The plans of the APC show workable and badly needed initiatives that will transform Nigeria immensely. We can certainly choose to focus on this instead of being drawn into senseless discussion about Buhari's agbada or sunglasses.

APC: our plan for Nigeria

State police, free education, jobs and a solid anti-corruption battle.

These – and many others – formed yesterday the major highlights of the 10-Point Road map unveiled in Abuja by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is planning to win power at the centre in 2015.

The party said it would give independence to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other agencies.

Besides state police, there will be a Serious Crime Squad to curtail insurgency.

Highlights of the roadmap presented at the party’s Inaugural National Summit in Abuja are: jobs; anti-corruption fight; free; relevant quality education; agriculture; housing plan; and healthcare plan for children and adults.

APC plans a social welfare scheme for the less advantaged and build roads and power plants. It will manage better our natural resources, the party said, adding that it will strengthen peace, security and foreign policy.

The Road map reads in part: “Roughly, one in four Nigerians, and half of young job seekers are unable to find work. The number of people whose jobs do not cover the cost of food and housing is even greater.

“In addition, major industries that pay higher wages account for just over five per cent of the economy.

“The lack of jobs is the most critical challenge facing Nigeria today, hurting every community and preventing us from being the truly vibrant and prosperous nation we deserve. Building a diverse economy that allows every Nigerian to earn a living and better care for his or her family is our number one priority.

“APC road map for jobs includes: Create 20,000 jobs per state immediately for those with a minimum qualification of secondary school leaving certificate and who participate in technology and vocational training.

“Encourage state governments to focus on employment creation by matching every one job created by the State Government through funding with two jobs created by the Federal Government in the same state.

“Direct conditional monthly cash transfers of N5,000 to the 25million poorest and most vulnerable citizens upon demonstration of children’s enrollment in school and immunisation to help promote job empowerment.

“Establish technology/Industrial Estates fully equipped with ICT, power and other support across the country to attract and encourage small-scale technology businesses and other entrepreneurs.

“Provide allowances to discharged but unemployed Youth Corps members for 12 months while they seek jobs or acquire training and skills for job placement or entrepreneurship.

“Establish plants for the assembly and ultimately the manufacture of phones, tablets, computers and other devices.

“Pay a guaranteed indexed-linked price to farmers to ensure that there is always a ready market for their produce, which will create more jobs, agricultural related employment and sustain existing jobs.”

On corruption, the APC said it was worried that “corruption is crippling Nigeria”.

It assured Nigerians that it would “create a vibrant economy where jobs and opportunities are more readily available.” “Every individual, civil servant, business and government leader must play by the same rules, obey the law and reject the temptation of bribery and corruption.”

The party was specific on its anti-corruption agenda. It plans to: “show zero tolerance for official and/or private sector corruption. Place the burden of proving innocence in corruption cases on persons with inexplicable wealth.

“Pursue legislation expanding forfeiture and seizure of assets; laws and procedure with respect to inexplicable wealth, regardless of whether there is a conviction for criminal conduct or not.

“Strengthen legal provisions to prevent stay of proceedings and other delays in corruption trials.

“Guarantee the independence of anti-corruption and financial crimes agencies by legislation, charging their budgets directly to the Consolidated Revenue Fund.

“Stop corruption in our elections, in part by making the Independent National and State Electoral Commissions truly independent and free from political interference.

“Improve the ability of citizens to keep an eye on their government, with more open access to government data, greater disclosure of government contracts prior to awards and during implementation, and ensuring the people’s business is done in an open and transparent way.”

Regarding security challenges facing the nation, the APC said it would allow states to own local police forces.

It promised to establish a serious crime squad to fight terrorism.

The road map added: “Peace and security are fundamental to Nigeria’s social and economic wellbeing. Every Nigerian should be safe and free to work in any part of the country, regardless of tribe, ethnicity, or religious beliefs.

“Our law enforcement agencies face significant challenges on many fronts: terrorism, especially in the Northeast, unresolved high-profile homicides and the rise in new crimes, such as kidnapping, abductions and cyber-crime. The result is an international perception of Nigeria as a failing state where violent crime, corruption and fraud are rife.

“APC’s roadmap for peace, security and foreign policy includes: Enable states to have their own local police forces that address the special needs of each community, including community policing initiatives that restore trust among local citizens.

“Establishing a serious crime squad with state-of-the-art training and equipment to combat terrorism, militancy and ethno- religious crisis, clashes.

“Provide a comprehensive compensation plan for victims of ethno-religious crisis, communal clashes and terrorism.

“Initiate a national reconciliation and healing plan, beginning with a truth and reconciliation commission on ethno-religious clashes, ensure the teaching in our schools of religious tolerance and public demonstrations of religious and ethnic tolerance by public officials.”

On Education, the APC plans to “make the right of every Nigerian child to receive a free, relevant and quality education a reality, based on free and comprehensive primary and secondary education.

“Provide free tertiary education to students pursuing Science and Technology. Engineering and Math (STEM).

“Create incentives and dedicate special attention to the education of girls.”

Shedding light on the road map at a follow-up round table, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said: “We commissioned a survey on what exactly is wrong with Nigeria, what exactly Nigerians need. Unemployment, corruption insecurity are the major problems confronting Nigeria today. So, the roadmap is a result of what Nigerians need.

“What we have done today is to show that there is a big difference between the PDP and the APC. We are after a new Nigetia. This is a new Nigeria we are creating in which the people will be the beginning and the end of all development programmes.”

The Chairman of Anti-Corruption Network, Otunba Dino Melaye, said: “The road map has lucidly elucidated the palliative measures against corruption. What the PDP is practicing now is greedocrcracy, the government of the greedy by the greedy and for the greedy. The road map, which is to correct corruption, is coming at a time when we are getting to the brink. The APC is the solution to the challenges facing the country. Once I was blind but now I can see.

“Nigeria is like a car being driven by a drunken-driver. What we have now is that corruption is being massaged and promoted. What we have in the road map is to make every Nigerian a change agent. In 2011, I was in the National Assembly where a budget of N250billion was passed for fuel subsidy but this reckless government increased it to N2.3trillion.

“This roadmap will produce a President that will not just commission projects but supervise projects; a President that will execute projects that are people-oriented. N149billion has been used in the last three years for politically exposed persons for medical tourism. We are setting an agenda. The President APC will produce is going to attend hospitals in Nigeria. We are going to bring back our medical experts deposited in Saudi Arabia and in the United States.

“APC wants a Nigeria where you will not need to manipulate or commit immoral sins to get political appointments.”

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, said: “The best way to differentiate the APC from PDP, not only in terms of corruption but in many ways is to look at the leaders of APC. PDP cannot produce or present an incorruptible leader like Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. If they have any, let them produce such a person. I think the results are there on ground; if the APC leaders are credible. We have the history to show us and we have the performance of our leaders to speak for us.

“The last time the PDP produced a manifesto was in 2007. It has been pursuing one agenda or the other since then. We challenge the ruining ruling party to produce its own roadmap.”

A former National Secretary of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), George Moghalu, said: “The road map is all about Nigeria, doing things at the right time and in the right way. It is a reflection of the wish of average Nigerian.

“It is an agreement we are going to sign with Nigerians so that at the end of the day, we can account to them.”
PoliticsRe: APC Six Points Agenda: State Of Origin To Be Abolished by Gbawe:
@Pendy79.

I understand that TANdroids are annoying but you will never prove anything to them because of fundamentalist indoctrinations which predisposes them to supporting GEJ fervently regardless of whether he is performing or not. I implore APC fans, as was the case when NL had a semblance of being issue-based, to ignore Jonathanians on threads like this so we can focus on the substantive message. I would personally have preferred a focus on scrutinising the details of this 6 point APC agenda, which would be implemented by any eventual APC President, rather than entertain diversionary talk about Buhari and 53 suitcases. APC supporters must simply conduct themselves with more awareness otherwise we will get bogged down by a drowning team GEJ with nothing to sell their messiah on hence their resolve to settle on a desperate agenda of making the APC Presidential candidate one that Nigerians must reject. they are doing this on every thread and APC supporters should now be wise to their antics.

Even on this thread, do we see even one Jonathanian inspect the workability and potential efficacy of this 6 point agenda to confirm that they still believe in what is best for Nigeria and are ready to discuss those issues objectively instead of demonstrating clannish commitment to a failed President as is always the case with them? Supporters of the APC need to be wise and pragmatic. You cannot stop others contributing to a thread but you can ignore them so that you make the thread about what you want it to be and the promotion of positive messages of good governance rather than a needless and insult-laden back-and-forth with desperado supporters of a failed President everyone is tired of.

lol...

sometimes i really wish APC can take over so Nigerians finally See what they are really about.

I rem when GEJ said he had no shoes (lol)

my won is simple PDP = APC = LP = Accord Party

and the smarter Thief would win 2015
Some of you make me laugh with your defeatist attitude and pessimism. Majority of Nigerians are in hell already !!!! Let us get that clear and stop deluding ourselves. What could be worse for eff sake ? Let us at least try the change the APC represents since we have nothing to lose. If they fail they Nigerians can kick them out in 2019. What is not acceptable or normal is to continue suffering while rejecting other options that may improve our very dire current situation. We all must remember, at all times, that there are many Nigerians who cannot sink lower than they have already. Those people could do with change.
