Enyimbamercedes:
Very typical. I lived in the UK for a couple of years and I observed:
1. You won't find a lot of northerners on the streets shouting; probably 1 or 2 sitting quietly on the bus most likely heading to school. Very calm demeanour
2. Easterners knocking their hustle; yet again being all coded; you'd only know when you hear them speak the language but in low tones.
3. And my brothers from the west! Now that's a different kettle of fish!! I don't think it is possible to whisper in the yoruba language. Always proud to shout and make noise ...in the bus they must show themselves...ah! Mo n lo Macky...what they call McDonalds. I cringe every time I encounter them cos they must be shouting or embarrassing themselves. They have colonised Woolwich and Greenwich. Go to Southbank university or University of Greenwich and you'd think you were in Ado Polytechnic.

Truth be told, i quite agree with him, though am 28 and looking forward to getting married soonest, most guys my age range spend lavishly on irrelevant things, beer, women, party etc and when its late they begin to regret not settling down earlier with the humane wealth they had.
My guy life is full of regrets. Those who married early sometimes regret it while those who didn't wish they had. Everyone wishes for what they don't have. This is what happens when you measure success against another person's idea of success.

Tyler Perry's first son came when he was 45 years old in the midst of a strong career. He's not complaining abi you want to complain on his behalf? Anna Jarvis who initiated the Modern mothers day celebrations had neither child nor husband.

There's so much to do in this world beyond borning children upandan. When you die and go nobody will remember you apart from the fact that you born pikin.

My sister you don't need the whole world...you're a lady with all due respect to the female folks here. How long will you work? How much will you make before you look around and breathe a sigh of relief? Do you know how incredibly tough it is as a guy to get someone who truly loves you for who you are and not what you own? Do you know how much tougher it seems when you have all the 'money' to go around? Well people marry for various reasons. With all due respect, the greatest injustice poverty has inflicted on us is the disease of the mind. Two heads are better than one. Combine your resources with him, pull your wits and face the world together. Poverty won't kill both of you. And there's no rule that says you can't advance financially once married...that's a lie from the pit of Hades.
This is just theory

Stop changing goal post in the middle of the game. A govt can come up and say on this good or that good they are banned and not wanted. That is not the situation here. What u presented is dependent on the importer himself. If one for instance chooses to import in at a loss or dump goods here no matter the tariffs, what can u say to that?
Let me try one more time.

Higher import tariff=Import restriction

Import restriction has been used by the Nigerian government for years. How well has it worked out over the years? If you say it has worked, in which area has it worked? Do you restrict import without first establishing enough local production to meet the demands? Do you have a price control program in place? What about a quality control program?

Hope this English is simple enough.

The opening thread talks about higher tariffs. I don't think I read anything pertaining to restriction. Is this post for this thread?
Tariff: A tax imposed on imported goods and services. Tariffs are used to restrict trade, as they increase the price of imported goods and services, making them more expensive to consumers. ... They are one of several tools available to shape trade policy.

Are you sure you know much about tariffs at all?

All these are ongoing and u will agree with me that even if we focus on this alone, we will still be on it for at least the next five yrs considering the comatose state they met them. The question is should other excellent initiatives stop till then? Nigerian entrepreneurs are already hailing this move. That is all that matters.
How many times have we placed import restrictions and how many times did it work? Has Nigeria improved in spite of the bans and import restrictions over the years?

The government is just clueless. The have no proper control over the economy. We provide our own water, fix our roads, generate power, pay for security and still pay tax. What does the government do? Spend the money while complaining that Nigerians don't do enough to assist the economy to grow. Mbok make we kill ourself?

But you forget all the services that they provide. The roads are tarred. Electricity is constant. You can drive your car for 4 years and it will still run like new. You cant tax people if you provide almost nothing. The govt is simply trying to rip where they have not sown. I consider that stealing. If i import a car and you collect 50% of it back from me in fees, you can as well collect the car from me after and start driving it every other day because you own half the value.
Very good answer to that government representative.

Am sorry to say this but I will just be blunt because it's the plain truth.
If u av the resources to buy or thinking of buying a car even if it's a tokunbo, u are not part of the over 40% of Nigerians who are extremely poor
. At least u can afford to eat well before thinking of buying a car.
Govt (fed and state because money collected goes to Federation account) needs more money and one of the best ways to source it is taxing luxury goods. As important a car is, it's still a luxury. U don't expect them to start taxing stuffs like garri and tomatoes. That's the norm worldwide.
This is incorrect. You cannot determine poverty level by who is "thinking to buy" or has the "resources to buy" a car.

I'm applying for four and would have preferred to pay for all at once.
When you say Pre-funded do you mean a credit card? It should work just fine. Why don't you ask your bank for more clarification?

Happy New Year folks, @ justwise et all..
Please sorry to bring this up, can I use my Dollar Pre-funded Master Card to pay for UK Visa coz my Bank has refused/or said they aren't issuing debit Master/Visa Cards anymore.
Thank you.
I just used my debit dollar mastercard to pay visa fees for a family @ $113 for standard visa.
The only hitch was that I could only make one payment per day. Not sure if it's a stanbic or embassy or CBN policy.

Oh, and Warri/ND are the most cowardly of all Nigerian tribes in my honest opinion. All noise and no substance
The current religious crisis is on a different level. Nigeria is on a the verge of make or break. God is using the peaceful Christians and muslims to keep Nigeria together otherwise na another thing we for dey talk now.

I take your comment as a threat. Religious crisis has actually been brewing since Buhari took power. The madness of those fulani has not gotten to the stage where dey will now toush a WARRI/EFFURUN person. Them nor born the person when one try am. Only whiff of reprisals from their activity in other states and they started running from Warri in trailers.

These two tribes are the problem with Nigeria. We should gather them and put them in one country known as BiaArewastan or AreBiastan 3 million dead Ibos is not enough for Ipob they are beating the drum for another round. Please if and when it happens don't start crying and shouting human rights up and down

Buhari was right after all - there is a security problem in the SE.
If it was the fulani that did the reprisal they would have done much worse. They've been stabbing and wrecking havoc since Buhari took power. This is the last time a Fulani will rule this country.
