http://www.thepost-ng.com/fct-minister-must-call-perm-sec-order/ When President Muhammadu Buhari took oath of office on May 29, 2015 and said he is for no one and for everyone, not a few Nigerians had a rekindled hope that Nigeria has finally gone back to the path of rectitude. His assurance to right many wrongs of the past and end impunity that has over the years replaced accepted ethics was then like a soothing balm to many who were nursing wounds from impunity and abuse of power as well as flagrant breach of rule of law. However, after a year in office, the inability of this government to curb the excesses and recklessness of its officials especially those of Federal Ca administration is alarming to say the least. The trend that is happening today within the FCT administration is a sharp contrast to the whole essence of this administration —respect for the rule of law—that is being put in place. The rule of law in this present administration remains questionable, especially in cases where government officials have used their positions of power and influence to intimidate and harass ordinary citizens. It must be stated here, that the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, a man of noble character must be alive to his responsibilities and act fast before some selfish civil servants become clogs in the wheel of his progress in the nation’s capital. He must as matter of national interest, the interest of the ordinary Nigerian and his own hard earned reputation curb the excesses of his Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye. The Perm Sec, for all intent and purposes, is hell bent at bringing hardship to the residents of Abuja if not called to order. How can a government that professes strict adherence to the rule of law allow its officials to act recklessly especially on a matter that is before a court of law? This leaves much to be desired from this administration. Going only by what is happening today, many observers have concluded that the FCT Minister might have simply abdicated his responsibility of administering the capital city to an ambitious and corrupt civil servant, whose sole aim is to enrich himself by whatever means at the expense of law abiding citizens. Examples of these excesses that take place almost on a day-to-day basis are many. One that readily comes to mind is the mindless demolition of a garden on Wednesday November 16, 2016. An innocent Nigerian became a victim of this reckless official. His company filed a case in court seeking an order restraining the Permanent Secretary of FCT, the Minister and all their officials from tempering with his legitimate property duly allocated to him since 2007. Having put forward their argument for such an order to be granted, the FCDA lawyers did not oppose such move knowing the position of the law in that regard. The judge also promised to give an accelerated hearing to the matter, but because of the high level of impunity and lawlessness of the Permanent Secretary, he refused to wait for the determination of the matter, and decided to take the matter into his hands by ordering the Department of Development Control to go ahead and demolish the garden. This was even against the legal advice of the Solicitor General of the FCT, who advised that the demolition shouldn’t be carried out because the case was still being heard in court. In any case, “the purpose of the issuance and service of court processes on a party is to bring the said processes to his notice and afford him an opportunity to react thereto, any defect would amount to breach of the affected party’s right to fair hearing and would render the proceedings a nullity.” But in this particular case, the judge had barely made a pronouncement on the interlocutory hearing when the Permanent Secretary instructed the Department of Development Control to storm the garden and destroy it. The level of impunity prevalent among FCT officials especially the Permanent Secretary is no longer a secret. Therefore, the Minister needs to wake up to his responsibilities as an agent of change and a beacon of hope for the masses and check these excess and recklessness of this singular person before he taints the image of this administration as a whole. The FCT Minister can be held for “criminal negligence”, because by not stopping the excesses, would amount to agreeing to what is going on. We therefore call on the Malam Muhammad Musa Bello to look into the official recklessness of his man and address the issue forthwith. Failure to act will amount to causing huge financial burden to the FCT in terms of settling avoidable judgement debts arising from litigation. Hon Yusuf Ali, (Raba gadama ) writes from Abuja |
What you explained is the same principle behind banks and a concept called "money creation". when you deposit your money in a bank, what do they do with the deposit? They loan it out at an interest. The man who the bank's gives the loan too, where does he get money to pay the interest? The loan proceeds when given by the bank where does it go to? Why do governments also borrow? if governments borrow, where do they get the money to payback? why do governments print money or debt instruments like Treasury bills or Bonds? The truth is that money today is simply numbers on a network of computer systems run by the banks and controlled by the government through the CBN. What you take out periodically to do financial transaction in form of purchases in only based on "debt notes" issued and printed by government as what you call a Naira note or a dollar note. Do you know that all your deposit when combined in the bank is placed with the CBN for interest (this is what is called the MPR). where does CBN get money to pay the interest? what business does CBN or any other central bank do? The only comfort you have for keeping your money with any bank which stands the risk of collapsing is a paltry insurance covered by the NDIC (Even the biggest bank in the world will collapse if loan volumes become uncollected and far exceeds deposit volumes to the point that depositors cannot be paid...why do government have what is known as bail-outs for "banks to big to fail" . The cardinal concept and holy grail of banking is that not all the deposit will come for withdrawal at once and there would always be a continuous flow of new deposits or money creation (why do bank's keep chasing staff to go and bring liabilities or deposits to be loaned-out) The truth is the modern financial system is built on greed (make the rich , richer and the poor to be poorer). An Abuja based business man and Chairman of Silver Proof Nigeria Limited, Timothy Bagwams has dragged the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye before an Appeal Court seeking to restrain them from further demolition of his property. Others joined in the suit no FCT/HC/CV/2020/16 were Abuja Metropolitan Management Council and Director of FCT Parks and Recreation. The Court action followed the demolition of a garden facility belonging to Bagwams situated on Plot 747 A00 at Central Area by officials of Department of Development Control on Wednesday November 16, 2016. Speaking with journalists, the business man alleged that the motive behind the demolition was sinister noting that it was aimed at taking the plot of land designated as District Recreational Park away from him. He argued that the land was dully allocated to his company, Silver Proof Nigeria Limited by the Federal Capital Territory administration in 2007 with all the appropriate documents with the sole purpose of developing a garden on the plot. According to him, there have been attempts in the past by the Federal Ministry of Finance to hijack the land from him on the ground that the location constitutes a security threat, noting that such fear was allayed when the FCT Administration wrote to the Ministry that the area is a sub-system of Green Area network within the Ministries zone in the detailed Central Area Urban Design prepared by Messrs. Kenzo Tange and Urtec in 1998. He further revealed that a Deed of Lease of the Park between him and the FCTA was signed and sealed on July 16, 2007 adding that all the relevant fees requested of him by the law were paid in respect of the Deed. Bagwams who is lamenting the loss that resulted from the demolition exercise which was carried out in the presence of heavily armed Police men and Soldiers during which journalists who attempted to cover the exercise were thoroughly beaten said his investment has gone down the drain. His words: I can’t still understand what is happening. I was shocked when I received calls from my staff on Wednesday that officials of Department of Development Control were demolishing my garden. I thought it was a joke. “All my investment had gone because everything was demolished. Nothing was spared. I do not know the intention of the FCT administration with this exercise because I have all the relevant documents that back up the allocation of the place. “I have over 30 staff working at that garden, now they are all out of job because of this mindless demolition. We were in Court but I was surprised without being served the court ruling and they came to demolish the place. Is this the government we voted for? Is this the change we were promised? ” It seems there are higher forces or powers that be that are interested in taking the land from me since I’m nobody. If not, why coming to the place with police and Soldiers to intimidate us and even harass journalists.” The business man also argued that his company was not served the court ruling that led to the demolition of his property alleging that FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye was the one behind the whole exercise. He further alleged that the Perm Sec was sighted at the place two days after the demolition with some foreign investors discussing possible use for the land despite a court summon that joined him as a defendant. According to him, the Perm Sec gave instruction to the Department of Development Control to demolish the garden. http://www.thepost-ng.com/land-grab-man-drags-fct-minister-perm-sec-court/

Hi Kellystech, Are you based in Abuja. If yes, you may want to try these guys out - fuelfox.com.ng I bought a 2009 camry from a nairalander some few months back. The car had some issues the way it would drive especially when it was at between 60-80km/h. The engine check light would come on periodically and also disappear on its own. Worst of all, my fuel pin always preferred to move so fast to empty position no matter how much fuel i bought. I changed the plugs, checked the "indomie" - local parlance for catalytic converter, used high grade oil (N13,000 per gallon), had a technician use his scanner to clear the fault codes and subsequently remove engine check light. Result was still same. Luckily, I one-day hitched an Uber ride with exactly the same spec of my car and couldn't help but notice the extra smooth and silent drive from Maitama to the Airport. The driver was nice enough to link me to them after i asked him about the car, who maintains it for him and why the car was driving so excellently. I couldn't but notice that his fuel pin remain on the 1/4 tank scale all through the drive to the airport. ( My car would never have done that). He then tell me about how he met the company and their German technician one-day at the Garki Carwash in Abuja working on some cars. I booked an appointment and visited them. They used some simple looking equipment to clean out the injection system, fuel tank after showing me my car poor performance statistics in terms of fuel consumption, fuel pump performance. The car stuttered for a few hours after the operation which they said was normal because of the release and evacuation of carbon and sludge that had built up in the walls, valves and combustion chambers of the engine. They say their system improves the efficiency of the catalytic converter when it come to fuel and air combustion ratio which ultimately ensures that your car does not over-burn or under-burn fuel, both situations which are not good for your vehicle overall performance and long-term health. They actually said the procedure is a simple and common procedure in Europe when cars go in for major repairs and need to pass high emission testings to be allowed on the road. Once cars find their way to Nigeria, its is never done again. all we now do is rely on those cheap chemicals they sell at filling stations to help which in no way fully solves fuel combustion problems most vehicles suffer due to low quality fuel we all buy( in fact most fuel we buy has highly volume of lead content, when most cars require unleaded fuel to operate) After that episode, my car's performance has tremendously improved. I took my car one day to my regular mechanic to change my ball bearings and he didn't even realise the car engine was on when he entered to test the fault before repairs. The car drives so so smoothly and the engine check light has not come on since then. You can call them on 08098880719 or check them out at www.fuelfox.com.ng Thanks kellystech: |
